COLES, Archibald
Passed on: January 28th, 2018

Passed away on January 28th, 2018 at Charles S Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 82 years. He leaves to mourn- thankful for a lifetime of memories- his wife Hazareth; daughter Beatrice (Boyce); son Ivan (Betty); grandchildren Susie Eileen (Hiram), Shana, Bianca (Jeremy)and Dominique; great-grandchildren Mitchel and Mackenzie; sisters Lourie, Mabel, Irene; brother Claude (Lillian); brothers-in-law Stanley (Bessie), James (Cornelia); sisters-in-law Virginia, Cora (Melvin), Ruby (Gerald), Edith (Kirby); daughters-in-law Daphne and Beatrice; special friend Maria Gould as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Archibald was predeceased by his daughter Susie Eileen; sons John Brian, Archibald Jr, Alonzo; parents George and Beatrice; sister Minnie; brothers Harold, Jacob, Lush; as well as parents-in-law Susie and John. Visitation was held from St. Thomas' Anglican Church in Sandy Cove from where the funeral was held on Thursday, February 1st, 2018 with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

CULL, Dulcie Lillian
Born: June 27th, 1934
Passed on: January 7th, 2018
Dulcie (Simms) Cull
was born to Harrison and Annie (Saunders) Simms on June 27, 1934 in St. Anthony Bight. On March 5, 1952 she married Maxwell Cull of Brehat. They lived in St. Anthony Bight and raised their family. Dulcie was a hardworking woman who took care of her family as well as working at FPI for more than 35 years. She was a faithful member of the United Church, a life member of UCW and a member of the LOBA. Dulcie lived her life in St. Anthony Bight until illness forced her to take up residence at the John M. Gray Centre where she passed peacefully away the early morning of January 7th, 2018 at the age of 83 years. She will be sadly missed. Dulcie is survived by her children Stanley (Donna), Joan, Will, Holly (Vernon), Ken (Sue), Danny (Angela), Todd (Lisa), and Trent (Brandi). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, her sister-in-law Maisie and brother-in-law Melvin and many other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Maxwell, grandson Aaron, her parents Harrison and Annie, brother Clem, sister Ivy and chosen sisters Rebecca and Bessie Pilgrim. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on January 11th, at 2:00 pm at St. Anthony United Church with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

EVANS, GILBERT ROSS
Passed away January 18th 2018 from the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 61 years. Gilbert was born on February 10th, 1956 to Lewis and Grace Evans in St. Anthony NL. He married his best friend and love of his life, Joyce, on October 4th, 1975 in Corner Brook. Together they had three children; Felicia, Patricia, and Blair as well as five grandchildren; Tristan, Chloe, Jaelyn, Kaden, and Sophia. In the summer of 2016 Gilbert moved back to his hometown from many years of working away to pursue his dream job as Town Foreman with the Town of St. Anthony. Gilbert loved his job and working with the crew at the town hall, he even worked at his most painful times of his illness. Gilbert was exceptionally talented when it came to fixing cars, trucks, or anything with a motor- or not in it (he would make one). Gilbert spent many years as a heavy equipment operator and even once owned his own garage in Raleigh. Gilbert was a true family man and a loyal friend who enjoyed life to the fullest. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife and best friend of 43 years, Joyce; his cherished children, Felicia (Jamie), Patricia (Blair), Blair (Vivian); five beautiful grandchildren, Tristan, Chloe, Jaelyn, Kaden, Sophia; Sisters, Faye (Cecil), Debbie, Lenora, Violet; Brothers, Alfred (Frances), William; Mother in law Hilda and Father in law Thomas Smith; Brother in law Terry (Linda); Sisters in law Shirley (Jeff), Peggy, Pansy; Special Cousin Velma Pynn as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Grace Evans (Richards); Father Lewis Evans; Sister Nellie Taylor; and Brothers in law, Cecil Taylor, Ford Warren, and Karl Tucker. Visitation was held from Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on Monday, January 22nd, 2018 at 2:00 from St. Mary's Anglican Church, St. Anthony, with Rev. Katie Flynn officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

HOUSE Sr., Douglas
Passed on: January 6th, 2018

Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family Douglas House Sr, at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre, in Port Saunders, NL, on Saturday, January 6th, 2017 at the age of 96 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his 8 children Reg (Joyce), Bertha, Doug (Maureen), Otto (Adelaide), Linda (Lewis), Rod (Evelyn), Genevieve, and Juanita (Clement); his 25 grandchildren; 46 great- grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; his 3 sisters; Olive McGinn, Connie Payne, and Hepsey (Alonzo) Patey and one brother Winston. Douglas was predeceased by his wife Mary Alice of 76 years; son Archibald; granddaughter Elizabeth; parents Grant and Sarah House; brothers Garland, Raymond, and Clayton; sisters Ella Lavers and Phobia Kennedy; his daughter-in-law Amelia; son-in-laws Henry, Fred, and Warren; his brother-in-law Douglas Payne, and sister-in-law Loretta. The family will be receiving family and friends at The St. Peter's Anglican Church in River of Ponds, on Monday, January 8th, 2018, from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 pm, where also the funeral service took place on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018, at 2:00 pm, with Rev Clare Stewart officiating and the burial followed at the Anglican Church cemetery in Spudgells Cove. PYNN, Albert
Passed on: January 28th, 2018

Passed away on January 28th, 2018 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 86 years. Albert (App) was born in St. Anthony, in January of 1932, to Chesley and Annie Pynn. Unfortunately, App's mother Annie died just a few months after his younger brother Everett was born. It was then that their grandmother, Mary Pynn, stepped in to rear them up. As a young adult, App was living in St. Anthony where he was working. At that time, Effie McLean from Eddies Cove caught his eye, and he married her in 1953, sixty-five years ago. Annie and 'Liza have said that, while App did a variety of jobs, they remember him as a fisher. Bradley says that he left the fishery at the time of the moratorium. App always loved being in the outdoors, whether it was hunting for moose, turrs or ducks, or fishing, especially salmon fishing. He also enjoyed playing guitar, which gave his family many hours of joy. He had a loving family and a strong circle of friends. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Effie; children Annie (Guy), Eliza (Bob), Bradley (Peggy); grandchildren Stacey (Tom), Nicole (Wayde), Petrina (Colin), Georgina (Jason), Bobby, Miranda; brother Everett (Matilda); ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Albert was predeceased by his parents Chesley and Annie; sister Maude; brother Gus, son George, granddaughters Tammy, Jennifer, Samantha; grandson Tyson; and great-granddaughter Danielle. Visitation was held from Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on Wednesday, January 31st, 2018 from the Central United Church on Quirpon branch with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Interment followed in the Quirpon Community Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. PYNN, Janie May
Passed on: January 25th, 2018

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful mother Janie May Pynn (Worthman), on January 25th, 2018 at the age of 84 years. Janie was born in Heart's Delight, Trinity Bay. She was a woman filled with generosity, kindness and gentleness of spirit. There are no words that can convey how blessed we, her children, were to have her as our mom. She loved her family with a sacrificial love and we loved her so deeply and completely. She was predeceased by her husband Baxter Pynn. She leaves to mourn her five children, Hilda Gushue, Rona Bowers (Bill), Randy Pynn (Velma), Patsy Geroux, Barry Pynn (Shauna); 9 grandchildren, Jason Blake (Aleksandra), Dana Blake, Chris Bowers (Regina), Candace Hillier (Cameron), Stephanie Boden (Randy), Victoria Pynn (Josh), Robyn Hynes, Adam Pynn (Nikki), Megan Pynn and nine great-grandchildren, Hanna, Robert, Alexander, Luke, Victoria, Olivia, Adam, Ryder and Bronwyn, Her sisters Marie Blackwood and Sadie Brampton and special friends Chester and Elsie Slade. Visitation took place from Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on Sunday, January 28th, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Anglican Church in Raleigh with Rev. Katie Flynn officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral director.

SIMMS, Goldie
Passed on: January 11th, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Goldie Simms announces her passing on Thursday, January 11th, 2018 at Charles S. Curtis Memorials Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 90 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories son Terry (Pauline); daughter Dale (Kenney); son Jeff (Maryann); grandchildren Jeff (Eileen), Mark (Kathy), Janet (Maurice), and Trevor (Tara Lee); great-grandchildren Christa, Shawn, Lauren, Calie Rae, Riley, Karlie, and Megan; brother Nathaniel Gould (Barb); sisters-in-law Cornelia Sweetland, Gladys Cooper, and Aurelia Gould; as well as two close friends who became like daughters to her - Minnie Morris and Dot Colbourne, and a number of other family and friends. Goldie was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, grandson David, brother Garfield Gould, great-granddaughter Danielle, great-grandson Christopher, brothers-in-law Arthur Sweetland and Thomas Cooper. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral was held on Monday, January 15th at St. Anthony United Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. SLADE, Clara
Born: May 19th, 1935
Passed on: January 15th, 2018

Passed away January 15th, 2018 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 82 years. Clara Slade was born on May 19, 1935 to William and Emma Patey of Pateyville. Clara grew up in Pateyville and later she began to work. She worked at a number of jobs beginning as the assistant cook at the Grenfell House. On October 3, 1961 she married Frank Slade in Happy Valley, and they recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. During those years she worked with Frank fishing as well as on the dock which Frank managed. Clara was a pleasant woman with a variety of interests. She was a member of the UCW, as well as a member of the Legion for more than 29 years. She loved her gardens and flowers as well as her cats. In younger years she accompanied Frank fishing, hunting and travelling. She enjoyed singing and card games as well as being with people. In the last few years she had a number of health problems which limited her activities, but which did not affect her smile. Clara passed peacefully away on January 15th. She is survived by her husband Frank; brothers Louden (Druscilla), Hedley (Marina), Ron (Pam), and Ralph (Sally), and sister Victoria. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Cyril (Ellen), Eric, and Norman (Dorothy) and sisters-in-law Jessie (Bruce), Maude (Jim), Mary Slade and Joyce (Ron); niece Phyllis (Neil) and nephew Jeffrey (Jeanette) and care giver Mary Patey as well as many other family members and friends. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral which took place on Friday, January 18th, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Anthony United Church with Rev. John officiating. Interment followed in the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

SNOW, Eric Clement
Passed on: January 14th, 2018

Passed away on January 14th at the Health Sciences Centre in St. Johns at the age of 53 years. Eric was born to Francis and the late Mary Snow on February 5, 1964. He met the love of his life, Diane Hedderson; they married on June 8th, 1985. Together they raised three beautiful children who are his precious jewels; Steven (Tamara), Victoria (Todd), and Varrick (Jenna). They have seven grandchildren: Cortaz, Dakota, Nathan, Kaci-Rae, Amaya, Alexia, and Samuel, whom Eric loved very much. Leaving with fond and loving memoires are wife Diane; children Steven (Tamara), Victoria (Todd), and Varrick (Jenna); seven grandchildren; father Francis; brothers Roland (Trudy), and Leslie (Paula); sister Mona, as well as a large circle of family and friends. Eric is predeceased by his mother Mary, mother and father-in-law Madeline and Hector Hedderson; and brothers-in-law Billy and Gordon Hedderson. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral was held on Thursday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. with Captain Rideout officiating. Interment followed in the St. Lunaire-Griquet Salvation Army Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

WARD, Johanna Mary
Passed on: January 12th, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Johanna Ward announces her passing on Friday, January 12th, 2018 with her family by her side at the John M Gray Centre in St. Anthony at the age of 87 years. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories her children, Gerard (Jean), Cyril (Judy), Clara, Jerome (Shirley), Edmund, Ray, Clarence (Trena), Alice (Keith), Wayne, Clyde, Carl, Dale, and Melissa (David); daughter-in-law Joyce; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Patrick (Joan), and William (Lydia); sisters Annie (Clyde), Gertrude (Ike), Alice (Austin), and Marie; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Felix, infant son Ronald, son William (Bill), son-in-law Wallace Cull, parents Michael and Alice Alyward and sister Isabella. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral on Tuesday, January 16th, at 10:30 a.m. held at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Goose Cove with Fr. George officiating. Interment followed in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Goose Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
