BURT, Roy James
Born: May 22nd, 1960
Passed on: January 4th, 2017
Roy James Burt
passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on January 4, 2016 at the age of 56 years. Roy James Burt was born in St. Anthony on May 22nd, 1960 to the proud parents of Cecil and Dora Burt and graduated Harriot Curtis Collegiate in 1978. On June 17th, 1989 Roy married the love of his life, Joyce Seaward and on June 5th, 1998 they were blessed with the birth of their beautiful daughter Leanne Jessica and in 2009 Roy's devoted four legged puppy Elbee joined their family. Roy was a devoted husband, amazing father, loving son, brother and a true friend to all who knew him. Roy worked for a number of years with Fishery Products and in 2010 he completed a Heavy Equipment Operator course and was employed as a distributor with Professional Business Solutions/ Browning Harvey. Roy enjoyed the great outdoors and would always participate in such things as snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. Roy's greatest love was hockey and he became a valuable player while attending school and later joined a senior league. Roy is predeceased by his parents Dora and Cecil Burt. He will be sadly missed by his family: wife Joyce; daughter Leanne; loyal companion Elbee; mother-in-law Nita; brothers Albert (Jo), Gary (Irene), Gus (Cora), Ern, and Benson (Daphne); sister Dorothy (Dennis), brothers-in-law Selwyn (Ivy) Charles (Gaye), Carl (Selma), and Guy (Karen; sisters-in-law Marilyn, and Eva (Riley); 22 nieces and nephews, aunt Linda Tucker (Roy) uncle Henry Kelloway (Gladys), cousins and a large circle of friends. Visitation was held at the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony from where the funeral took place on Saturday, January 7at 2 p.m. with Captain Brown officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

CHAMBERS, Maude E.
Passed on: January 10th, 2017
Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 10th day of January, 2017, Mrs. Maude Chambers of Blue Cove, in her 83rd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her loving husband of 64 years James Chambers; children Elgin (Ida), and Ivan (Peggy); grandchild Borje (Sherilee); great-grandchildren Michael James and Jonathon Roland; brother George Pittman (Ruth); sisters Jane Taylor (late Gordon), and Elizabeth Crane (John); dear friend Anne Gillingham, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father John Pittman, mother Mary Margaret Pittman, brother John Pittman (Mary Ann), and sister Deborah (Oliver). Visitation was held at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral service took place at 2:00 p.m. on the 14th day of January, 2017 with Rev. Jennifer Renault officiating. Interment followed in the Anglican Cemetery in Pond Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, Roddickton and St. Anthony, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

CURLEW, Calvin Edward
Passed on: January 3rd, 2017

Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 3rd day of January, 2017, Mr. Calvin Edward Curlew of Englee in his 81st year. He leaves to mourn with many great and fond memories his wife of 55 years, Mae; his sons Dean (Mae), Glenn (Alice), Derek (Anselmo) and Sheldon; grandchildren Gregory (Tracie), Liska (Joey), and Shawn (Jessica; great-grandchildren August, Logan and Baby J.J.(deceased); brother Cecil; sisters Ethel and Blanch as well as a large circle of other family and friends. Visitation was held at the Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle on Friday, January 6th following through to the funeral service on Monday, January 9t at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Simms officiating, Interment followed in the Pentecostal Cemetery in Englee. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

CURLEW, Melvin

Melvin Curlew
, age 69, passed away on January 1, 2017 at the Labrador-Grenfell Health Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Leaving to mourn, his common-law wife, Justine Perkins; children Brenda, Bonnie (Nick Quinn) and Beverly (Ed Compton); step-children Israel, Pauletta, David and Angie; brothers Rod, Freeman, Albert and Don; sisters Lucy, Jean and Bernetta; 11 grandchildren, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Caroline Curlew and his brother, Wilfred. Visitation took place on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. The funeral service was held on Thursday, January 5, at Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle with Pastor Wayne Noble officiating. Interment followed at the Pentecostal Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the family were be graciously accepted.

EARLE, Leslie Wade
Passed on: January 7th, 2017

Passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Goose Bay, Leslie Wade Earle, age 26 years. Predeceased by his grandmother, Ellen Earle, and his grandparents, Wilson and Una Green. Leaving to mourn his loss and holding his memory dear to their hearts, his loving parents Wade and Blanche Earle; his sister, Natasha (Joe); his precious nephew and niece, Colin and Jenna; his grandfather, Edward Earle; as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. The funeral service will be held in Red Bay, Labrador. Details to be announced. Jane Johannessen
passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017 at the John M Gray Centre in St. Anthony at the age of 72 years. Jane was born in Ballerup, Denmark on the 21st of November, 1944 to parents Svend Aage Johannessen and Lillian Johannessen (Rasmussen). She leaves to mourn her son Bradley; sister Lisbeth; niece Carina as well as many co-workers, friends, and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton.

KENNEDY, Kevin
Born: December 18th, 1927

It is with heavy hearts that the families of Kevin Kennedy Sr, announce his passing at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Thursday, January 12th, 2017, in his 89 year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Julia Mary nee Jenneaux; his children: daughters Gertrude Hynes (Eric), and Sylvia Hynes (Roy); sons Joseph (Elizabeth), Donald (Juanita), Kevin (Darlene), David (Delores), Phillip, Robert and Jeffrey; his grandchildren Jason, Tim, Donald Jr, Logan, Shane, Shannon, Shaunda, Shawn, Crystal, Darren, Morgan, Grant, Barry, Matthew, Natasha, Damien, Jenny, Dominic, Phillip Jr, Randy, Courtney, Krista, and Melissa; his great-grandchildren Jade, Hannah, Riley, Jaxson, Sophia, Chase, Grace, Shane, Joshua, Brianna, Keithan, Christopher, London, Reagan, Bryce, Taryn, Noah, Alyssa, Brailee, Lily, and Amie; his siblings Selina, Annette, Clarice, Rosemary, Dorothy, Margaret, Ann, and brother Peter Kennedy; step-sisters Francis White, and Alma Johnson, and step-brother Joseph White. Kevin was predeceased by his son Barry, grandson Joshua, parents Peter Kennedy and Gertrude Coles Kennedy, sister Martha Dobbin, brothers Leo Kennedy, and Cliff Kennedy, step-sisters / brothers Millage White, Ina Plowman, and Loretta Alexander. Also leaving to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends. The family received friends at St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Port Saunders on Saturday, January 14th and Sunday, January 15th from where also the funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, January 16th at 10:30 a.m. with Father Raj, officiating, and keeping with Kevin's wishes cremation to follow. LODER, Herbert Reginald

It is with heavy hearts that the families of Herbert Reginald Loder announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, in Corner Brook, NL, on Friday, December 30th, 2016 at the age of 83 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Hilda, nee Randell of 56 years; his children Owen (Vicki), Terry (Rhonda), Kevin (Lori), Paul (Joy), Todd (Helen), and Loomis (Jennifer); his grandchildren Terry, Robyn (Lorne Payne), Keith (Kayla), Elizabeth (Darin Miller), Landen, Jared, Sharon (John Dick), and Sheila (Terry Randell) and Tristan; his great-grandchildren Summer, Chase, Ashley, Natasha, Colby, and Callie, and great-great-grandchild Hailey; his siblings Edith Tulk, Rita (Edgar Sceviour), Shirley (Cecil Pollard), and Fred (Verna), and his sisters-in-law Marjorie and Annie, Herbert was predeceased by his parents; Elizabeth and Frederick Loder, his siblings; Richard, Gordon, Stewart, and Isabella. Visitation took place at St. Peter's Anglican Church in River of Ponds on, Monday and Tuesday, January 2nd and 3rd, from where the funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 4th, at 11a.m. with Canon Terry Rose officiating. Burial followed at the family plot of the Anglican Church Cemetery in Rocky Harbour. NORMORE, Patricia Mary

Patricia Mary Normore
passed peacefully away at the Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on January 17, 2017. She was in her 86th year. Leaving to mourn sons Lorne (Hope) and Dennis (Betty); daughter Beverly (Douglas Ryland); son-in-law Don Robertson; step-daughter Mabel Whalen (Calvin); grandchildren Shawna, Leon, Brent, Violet, Ian, Laurel, Donna, Rex, and Murray; great-grandchildren Jeffrey, Eddie, Lachlan, Austin, Landon, Mark and Ty; brother Edward (Mena) Barney; sister Beulah Fowler, and sister-in-law Dora Barney. She was predeceased by her husband Hedley, daughter Sandra, and granddaughter Paula. The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 21at St. Paul's Anglican Church in L'Anse au Loup with Rev. Norman Cutler officiating with interment following in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the supervision of Fillatre's Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.

PAYNE, Viola Helen

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Viola Helen Payne of Hawkes Bay announces her passing at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre, Port Saunders on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the age of 88 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories son Ralph; daughters Miranda (Mike), Dorine and Josie (Dennis); sons-in-law Wilfred Gashlard and Wilfred Mouland; daughter-in-law Florence Payne; brothers Sam Hoddinott (Marion), and Con Hoddinott (Nova); special friend Colin Petipas; sisters Melita Hoddinott (Daphne), Lorna Quinlan (Eric), Laverne House and Lucy Teal; grandchildren Jervis, Jamie, Janet, Dion, Dana, Dwayne, Cindy, Cordell, Danette, Danica, Dean and Dale; 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph, parents Frederick and Lucy (House) Hoddinott, sisters Ann, Yvonne and Dorthea, brothers Harvey and Fred and daughters Phyllis and Elizabeth. The family received visitors at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Hawkes Bay on Tuesday, January 24th and Wednesday, January 25th. The funeral service followed on Thursday, January 26th at 2:00 pm officiated by Pastor Gillett with interment following at the Pentecostal Cemetery in River of Ponds. PITTMAN, Abraham Charles

passed away at the John M Gray Centre in St. Anthony on January 8, 2017 at the age of 85 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children Marion (Tom), Randy (Daisy), Dan (Patsy), Guy (Julie), and Gay; his grandchildren; great-grandchildren as well as a circle of friends and other relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Colbourne), parents Lenora and Ambrose, as well as his sister Bertha. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home until the funeral which was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11 at St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Katie Flynn officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

POOLE, Eldred

passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on December 17, 2016 at the age of 71 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his sister Provie; sisters-in-law Doris, Muriel, and Doreen as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews. Eldred was predeceased by his parents Mary and James Poole, brothers George, Hubert, Leander, Albert, and James; sister Elizabeth; and sister-in-law Helen. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in St. Lewis from where the funeral took place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21st, with Rev. Pervez Baig officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton.

REID, Eric James
Born: October 14th, 1960
Passed on: January 2nd, 2017
Eric James Reid
slipped peacefully away into the presence of the Lord on January 2, 2017 at the John M. Gray Centre, at the age of 56 years. Eric was born to Bartholomew and Velma Reid on October 14, 1960 in Englee. He married Sharon Pittman on Sept 26, 1992 and they had three daughters: Lorna, Sandi, and Sarah. Eric started finishing with his father at the age of 16 and continued to do so until his surgery in September 2013. He also had a great passion for woodcutting and hunting. Many of his friends could tell endless stories of their adventures together with him. Eric had many friends and was well liked by everyone who knew him. He leaves to mourn his wife Sharon; mother Velma; daughters Lorna (Dion) Sexton, Sandi (Pete) Budgell, and Sarah (Robert) Chaisson; granddaughters Kylee and Koriana; sisters Patricia (Dorman), Rowena (Nigel), and Dora; brothers Guy (Rowena), Raymond (Loretta), Alyvone (Mary), Willis, and Don (Wanda) as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his father Bartholomew on November 5th, 2014. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held on Friday, January 6th with Pastor Simms officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

WOODFORD, Kathleen
Born: February 6th, 1933
Passed on: January 3rd, 2017
Kathleen Woodford
passed away on January 3, 2017 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 83 years. Kathleen was born in Grandois on February 6, 1933. The first born of Edward and Alice Alyward, she grew up on Fishot Island with her four sisters Teresa, Josephine, Marie and Gertie and three brothers Francis, Edward and John. Kathleen met the love of her life while teaching in Conche. James Woodford and Kathleen were married on July 19 1953. Tragically, James died at an early age while relocating the family to Goose Cove, leaving Kathleen to raise 13 children. Kathleen was always very devoted to her faith and family. She was at her happiest when the family were around her, especially on a Sunday, when everyone gathered at Mom's for dinner. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children Leone, Josephine (Dan), Mary (John), Beth (Cyril), Alice (Wade), Bertha (Gregory), Matilda (Mark), Terry, Edward (Wendy Dale), Darren (Debbie), Wanda (David), James (Coleen), and Keith (Gaye); 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings John (Pauline), Francis (Bernadette), Josephine (Dorm), Gertie (Ambrose), and Marie (Bill); sister-in-law Mildred McGrath as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband James, son Edward, her parents Edward and Alice, brother Edward, sisters Loretta and Theresa and son-in-law Dennis Troy. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the funeral which took place on Friday, January 6 at 2:00 pm with Fr. Lourdhu officiating. Cremation followed with burial taking place at another date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
