CASSELL, Flossie Cordelia
Passed peacefully away, surrounded by her family at the John M. Gray Centre, St. Anthony, Flossie Cordelia Cassell of Englee, NL, on Jan. 31, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Flossie leaves to mourn with loving memories her three daughters Melvina (Roy) Hopkins, Englee, Melita Fillier, Englee, Rose (Darryl) Maloney, Pasadena; two sons Roland, Englee, Morgan, Medicine Hat, Alberta; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; also two sisters Annie Hopkins, Roddickton, Drucella Hopkins, Englee and many other relaives and friends. Flossie was predeceased by her husband (Chesley) and two sons David and Harrison. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Englee from where the funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony.

DAWE, Lorna Melina
Passed away gracefully after a struggle with cancer, Ms. Lorna Melina Dawe, of Brantford Ontario, formally of Raleigh, in her 33rd year. Left to mourn, but thankful for their memories of Lorna are her mothers Melina and Mildred; her brothers Wilfred (Wavey), Alasdair (April), Deon (Sandra), Andy (Rochelle), and Dana (Michelle); her sister Vanessa (Derrick); as well as her nieces and nephews Rhonda Lee (Andreas), Ryan, Lacey, Jonathan, Bobbi (Calvin), Nolan, Alexander, Matthew, Sarah, Nicholas, Ethan, Tamara, and Dawson. Lorna will also be missed by the many children she loved and helped in her teaching career. She was predeceased by her father Stanley. Visitation was held first at the Dennis Toll Funeral Home in Brantford, Ontario, followed by visitation at the St. Paul's Anglican Church in Raleigh, from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30 with Rev. Dianne Smith and lay person Alfred Larkin officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery in Raleigh. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Todd Taylor of Dennis Toll Funeral Home, Brantford, Ontario, as well as Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

(July 7, 1929 - January 31, 2011)
Passed away suddenly on Monday January 31, 2011. Predeceased by his parents Tom & Cecile, wife Hattie and sisters Grace, Beulah and Dorothy (Amos). He will be sadly missed by his 7 children and their families: Carl (Gloria), Levi (Linda), Wayne (Eva), Edgar (Nora), Garry (Donna), Kirby (Kelly), Katrina (Rick); his 14 grandchildren: Jason (Josi), Greg, Rick (Sid), Jeff (Amy), Lindsay (Danny), Liza-Rae, Brittany, Faron, Brock, Gary-John, Lynn-Marie (Matt), David (Sheena), Andrew and Mackenzie; and his 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived and missed by his siblings: Elias (Myrtle), Norm (Violet, deceased), Abe (Shirley), Dinah (Stanley, deceased), Alma (Ron, deceased). He will be remembered as a hardworking, dedicated individual who brought passion to everything he did. He was a friend to all and a pillar of the community. Over the last several years in Labrador City, he devoted his time and energy in raising money to improve healthcare in Labrador West. To continue his dream and in lieu of flowers, we ask people to make donations to the Grenfell Foundation - Labrador West Chapter (or on-line www.lghealth.ca) in his honor. Burial took place in his birthplace, L'Anse au Clair, Labrador, on Friday February 4.
He will be sadly missed.

HOUSE, Greta Florence
It is with great sadness the family of the late Greta House of New Ferrole, (formerly of Bellburns), NL, announce her passing at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the age of 78 years. Leaving to mourn daughter Ethel (Sam), Hawkes Bay; sons Milton, New Ferrole, Jesse (Elizabeth), Grande Prairie, Alberta, Garry (Margaret), New Ferrole, Boyd (Patricia), Brampton, Ontario, Dean (Elizabeth), Plum Point, and Robert, Woodbridge, Ontario; grandchildren Peter, (Germaine), Shannon, (Kerry), Corey, Owen, Dylan and Gavin; great-grandchildren Matthew, Samuel, and Keira; brothers Bill (Loretta), Richard, (Josie), Harvey (Sheila), Woodrow (Cathy), Stewart, Gorman (Elsie), and Henry (Linda); sisters Edith, Carol, (Melvin), Dulcie, Mary, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas, and son David. Cremation took place at Humber Valley Crematorium on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

MYERS, Mercedes Mary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mercedes Mary Myers of Bartlett's Harbour, NL, announce her passing on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre, Port Saunders at the age of 79 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Patrick; five sons Gus (Evelyn), Terry (Kathy), Ren (Christina), Wayne (Janet) and Amedee (Josephine); three daughters Alice (John), Irene Hamlyn and Helen Myers; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sisters Anora (Isaac), Julia (late Benedict Mahar) and Marie (late Joseph Pittman); brother Aloysius (Josephine); sisters-in-law Regina (late Raymond Caines) and Madeline (late Martin Sr. Caines), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Jessie, parents Dominic and Alice Caines, brothers Raymond, Martin Sr. and Stanley (Mabel), sister Leona (Luke) Mahar and daughter-in-law Verna Myers. Friends visited Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Bartlett's Harbour on Wednesday and Thursday from where the funeral service was held on Friday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. with Fr. V. Anthony officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca

PATEY, Beatrice
Passed away after a long struggle with Cancer on Jan. 26, 2011. Mrs. Beatrice Patey of St. Anthony,NL, in her 67th year. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond and loving memories are her husband of 49 years Baxter; daughter Jackie (Coates), son-in-law Terry Coates; daughter-in-law Carol Ann Patey; and granddaughters Sarah Nolan and Jessica Patey. She was predeceased by her sons Baxter Wade Patey and Bradley Scott Patey, parents Fanny and Walter Quinlan, and brother Raymond Quinlan. Visitation took place at the funeral home in St. Anthony, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the United Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Stephanie McClellan officiating. Cremation to follow and burial at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

PYE, Violet
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Violet Pye of Lodge Bay, NL, announce her passing at Labrador South Health Centre in Forteau on Jan. 15, 2011 at the age of 93 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories Clara Rumbolt (Raymond-deceased), Stewart (Laura), Guy (Nora), Ward (Verna), Lloyd, (Ena), Roy (Nancy), Alvin, and Valerie Russell (Reg), 34 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and brother Gordan Pye, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, sisters Ina, Lizzie, Ruby, and Louise, brothers Reginald, Ira, Wilfred and Paul, grandson Travis Pye, and great-granddaughter Monica Tatchell. Visitors were received at the Anglican Church in Lodge Bay on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service took place on Monday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Irene Sutten officiating and Paula Russell assisting. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery in Lodge Bay. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.

SIMMS, Richard Neil
Passed away peacefully at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Jan. 17, 2011, Mr. Richard Neil Simms of St. Anthony, NL, in his 87th year. Richard leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife Lottie; his son Neil (Joy); his daughter Sharon (Roger); grandchildren Nicolas, Chad, Trent, and Lindsay; great-grandchildren Patrick, Dilan and Alisha. He was predeceased by his father Alexander, his mother Clara, his sisters Bessie, Olive, and Marjorie, his brothers Alexander, and Reuben. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at the United Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Stephanie McClellan officiating. Burial followed in the Fishing Point Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

TUCKER, John Thomas
Passed away tragically and suddenly in Corner Brook on Jan. 4, 2011, Mr. John Thomas Tucker of Reef's Harbour, NL. at the age of 68 years. Left to grieve his loss with hearts full of loving memories are his son Bruce (Brada); his grandchild Braden; brothers Dudley, Roger, Steve (Joy and family), and Jim (Floss and family); his sister-in-law Joyce (Oz and family); and brother-in-law Gus (Mary and family). John was predeceased by his wife Sybil, his father and mother Steve and Matilda, his brother George, his sisters Jenny and Paulette, as well as his father and mother-in-law Absalom and Ida, and brother-in-law Frank. Visitation was held at St. Margaret's Anglican Church in Reef's Harbour, from where the funeral service took place on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. with Rev's. Harold and Marlene Harvey and Bernice Baines officiating. Burial followed the service in the Reef's Harbour Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

WALSH, Edith (Payne)
It is with great sadness that the family of Edith Walsh (Payne) of Nameless Cove, NL, announce her passing on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 67 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her son Jason (Lorraine); daughter Chantel (Darrell); son Michael (Vonnie); grandsons Nicholas, Carter, Jeffrey and Neil; brothers and sisters William (Loretta) Payne, Richard (Josie) Payne, Carol Hynes and Melvin Pittman, Harvey (Sheila) Payne, Woodrow Payne and Kathy Fife, Dulcie (the late Tom House), and Stewart Payne; and sisters-in-law Vida and Irene Payne. She was predeceased by her husband Bryant Walsh, parents Leslie and Gertrude Payne, sister Greta (the late Tom House), brothers Foster and Brian Payne along with a large circle of family, friends and relatives. Visitation was held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Flowers Cove on Friday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. and a funeral service was held on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Canon Hubert Vallis officiating. Burial took place immediately following at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Nameless Cove. Funeral arrangements and cremation was entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
