PARDY, William George
St. Anthony

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Tuesday Jan. 6, 2009. William Pardy, age 81 years. Leaving to mourn wife Sybil Howell (nee Simms); daughter Sharon Patey (Derek); son William (Kris); grandchildren Jonathan Maters (Shana), Natasha Maters, Chris Patey (Kelly), Karla Reardon (Jarvis), and Katie Pardy; great-granddaughters Dominique Maters and Olivia Reardon; sisters Olive Smith, Grace Squires (Raymond) and Judy Brittain; step-daughters Yvonne Siciliano (Arthur) and Alvina (Willie) Budgell and families, and a large number of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Karis (nee Brown), daughter Juanita O'Dell, brothers Dick, Edgar, and Elmer and sisters Charolette Davidson, Flora Hancock and Elizabeth Boyd. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, at the Anglican Church St. Anthony with Canon Rev. Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating with cremation to follow. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

McDONALD, Thomas
West St. Modeste

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Thomas McDonald announce his passing at Labrador South Health Centre in Forteau on Jan. 8, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories wife Geraldine; children Valerie (Bobby), Darlene and Carl; granddaughters Genista, Mandy, and Brittany as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his son Captain Godfrey and parents Thomas McDonald and Lucy Neary. Visitors were received at the Our Lady of Labrador Church Chapel in West St. Modeste on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service took place on Monday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. with Fr. Tony O'Dell officiating. Internment followed at the church cemetary in Pinware. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.

PLOWMAN, Augustus John
Port au Choix

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Augustus Plowman announce his passing on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 73 years. Leaving to mourn his wife of 51 years Clara; daughters Emma, (Greg Newton), Leah (Dave Moores) and Carolyn (Lawrence Gaslard); sons Robert (Mary Reid) and Parry; granddaughter Keri Plowman Gaslard; great-grandson Steven Lavers; sisters Vivian Spence, Juliette Cornick, Florence Goosney, and Leah House; brothers James, Clayton Sr., and a large circle of other relatives and friends. The family received friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service took place at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Ambrose Hynes officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery in Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

RICHARDS, Elizabeth Harriet
St. Carol's

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Jan. 13, 2009, Elizabeth Richards, age 79 years. Leaving to mourn her husband of 63 years, Fredrick; two sons Whyman (Ruby), and Dale (Melissa); six daughters Edna (Edgar), Linda (Doug), Pearl (Ralph), Sybil (Baxter), June (Jim), and Beverly (Dean); granddaughter Daphne (Kevin); 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her baby brother, as well as her son Derrick, daughter Joan and three grandchildren. Visitation was held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, in St. Carol's, from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17, with Rev. Bruce Graham officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton. Lee Nippard, funeral director.

PAYNE, Harold
Daniel's Harbour

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold Payne announce his passing on Thursday Jan. 15, 2009 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 68 years. Leaving to mourn his children Morley (Joy) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Cynthia of Cow Head, Denise (Pat) of Castor River, North, Michael (Kim) of Daniel's Harbour, Darlene (Fred) of Castor River North, and Trina (Jamie) of Edmonton, Alberta; wife Hughena; grandchildren Robyn, Felicia, Candace, Jeremy, Matthew, Samantha, Courtney, Randy, Gary, Tiffany, Kyle, Cameron, Michael, Nikki, Jessica, Renee, and Ryan; great-grandchildren David, Miranda, and Brody; brother and sisters and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Violet Payne. The family received friends at Holy Cross Anglican Church in Daniel's Harbour on Friday and Saturday from where the funeral service took place on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Ollson officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, in Daniel's Harbour. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to Holy Cross Church Fund. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

EARLE, JOHN
St.Lunaire-Griquet

Passed away at the John M. Gray Cenre on Jan. 18, 2009. John Earle of St. Lunaire-Griquet, age 79 years. Leaving to mourn his wife of 54 years Edna; brothers Thomas, Garth and Herbert; sister Viola and Marilyn; children Beryl (Wayne), Doreen (Jim), and Christopher (Mairash); grandchildren Joanne MacDougall, Chesley MacDougall, Constable Vincent MacDougall, Bruce MacDougall, Lockie MacDougall, and Deon MacDougall; great-grandchildren Payden, Kaiya, Dylan, Noelle, Chelsea and Austin, also a circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Mary Ann, father Augustus, sisters Evelyn, Daisy and Florence. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire-Griquet, from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, with Pastor Primmer officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton. Lee Nippard, funeral director.

GENGE, DULCIE (CHAMBERS)
Bear Cove

Born in Bear Cove, Dulcie was the second of five children born to Selina and Matthew Chambers. Dulcie is predeceased by brothers Hubert and Reginal, husband Howard and son Howard Jr. Dulcie married Howard Genge in 1945 and they had three children, Howard (Sandy), Barbara (Randy) of Main Brook and Phyllis (Normand) of Flowers Cove. Dulcie is survived by sisters Aurelia (Garfield) of Flowers Cove and Mary Ann (Wilbert) of Stephenville. They have appreciated a close and special relationship and will experience a great sense of loss. The family is now extended to include two grandchildren, Andy White of Goose Bay, Justin Boyd of Main Brook and three great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. Shortly after losing her husband and son within a month, Dulcie had to deal with a degenerative eye disease, this never affected the way she continued to live her life. She appreciated the company of her family and friends sitting around enjoying a great meal, Newfoundland music and dancing. Today, we as a family, mourn her loss but we also give thanks for having had such a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. We appreciate you celebrating her life with us. Helen Keller once said, "Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn whatever state I am in, therein to be content". Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Flowers Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, with Rev. Diane Smith officiating, Joyce White, lay minister. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Anchor Point. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay and Levinia Caines Fillatre, funeral directors.

CHAMBERS, Mahala (Coles)
Bear Cove

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Jan. 20, 2009, Mahala Chambers, age 69 years. Leaving to mourn sons Whyman (Loretta), Wilson (Donna), George (Wavey), and Gordon (Angela); daughters Dorcas (Clayton) and Dorothy (Paul); grandchildren Davin, Zachery, Vanessa, Leslie, Kimberley, Nikita, Cordell, Kristy-Lynn, Candace, Matthew, Chantel, Justin and Santana; great-grandchildren Bradon, Keeley, Tayler, Taya-Lynn, Jayden, Cole and Austin; brother William John Coles (Alma), and a large group of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband George. Visitation was held at St. Boniface Anglican Church in Bear Cove, from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursay, Jan. 22, 2009 with Rev. Canon Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Cook's Harbour

Passed away at Shirley's Haven, St. Anthony on Jan. 27, 2009, Marjorie Hussey of Cook's Harbour, age 58 years. Leaving to mourn mother Rosanna Pittman; brothers and sisters Nellie (Winsor), Edna (Marvin), Howard, and Leona (Lew); children Christopher (Kelly), and Jimmy (Jessi). She was predeceased by her father Roy Pittman. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Cook's Harbour, from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, with Rev. Graham officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

GOULD SR., PIUS MARTIN

It was with great sadness that the family of the late Pius Martin Gould Sr. announce his passing on Wednesday Jan. 28, 2009 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 75 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Melina; sons Pius (Jessie), Jim (Levina), Maxwell (Pauline), Wayne (Janet), and Dean (Nadine); daughters Maxine (Don), Patsy (Jesse), and Yvonne (Jim); grandchildren Shawn, Tyson Caines, Sheldon Gould, Rendell, Ryan Gibbons, Alex, Megan, Gould, Dylan, Jananya Toope, and Matt Gould; great-grandchildren Danielle, Cody Parsons, Zackary Gould, and Caleb Caines; sisters Mary (Victor) Caines, Irene (Primus) Pittman, and Annie Pittman; brothers Maxwell (Theresa), and Edmund, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Lily), siblings Tom, Irene, Dorothy, Cecilia, Tom. Simon, and Tom; brother-in-law James Henry, and sister-in-law Florence. The family received friends at our Lady of Grace Church in Bird Cove on Thursday and Friday from where the funeral service took place on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Fr. Roger officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home Port au Choix.

LEE, Alma Helena
Port au Choix

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alma Lee announce her passing on Wednesday Jan. 28, 2009 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 67 years. Leaving to mourn her daughters Mary, (Terry) Hayes of Grande Prairie, Shirley of Brampton Ontario, Millicent (Wayne) Pike of Port au Choix, Stella (Dwight) Sparkes of Brampton, Ontario, Maureen of Port au Choix, Sharon (Dion) House of Port Saunders, and Lucy of Corner Brook; grandchildren Melissa, Aaron, Alexandra, Erica, Vincent, Christa, Jillian, Shelby, Matthew, Sherry, Mandy, Jacob, and Stephen; great-grandchildren Matthew, Dominic, Tyler, Kaylah, Ryan, Keliah and Gracie; sisters Mary, Eileen, Ellen and Susan; brothers Jerome, Leo, and Willie, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Matthew, parents Dominic and Amy Jane Scanlon; sisters Elsie and Betty. The family received friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home in Port au Choix on Friday. The funeral service took place on Saturday Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Port au Choix with Fr. Robertson officiating. GENGE Jr., Rufus
Stephenville

Passed away at his residence in Stephenville on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, Rufus Genge Jr., at the age of 49 years. Leaving to mourn is his daughter Kenda; grandchildren Luke and Brooke; mother Sophia; father Rufus; girlfriend Marlene; brothers Ted (Joy), and Bruce (Mary Rachel); sister Elsie; nephews David (Leigh), Rodney (Wendy), and Raymond (Jackie); nieces Martina (Denny), Angelia, Tracy, and Jennette; great niece Jacinta Rose; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Anchor Point on Saturday evening and Sunday from where the funeral service took place on Monday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Jan. 31, 2009. Isaac Warren, age 84 years. Leaving to mourn wife Joyce; daughter Sandra Pink (George); sons Mark (Jill), and Todd (Kay); grandchildren Christopher, Catilyn, Brianna, Sarah, Karlee and Emma; sisters Grace, Hazel and Dulcie (Wilfred); brothers Whyman (Bertha) and Harrison (Vira). He was predeceased by brother Ford, sisters Violet Woodward, and Jessie Carroll and grandchild Brandon Warren. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Cook's Harbour, from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, with Rev. Graham officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Levinia Caines Fillatre, funeral director.
