VERGE, GREGORY ENOS
Huntingdon, Quebec
(formerly of Parsons Pond)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gregory Enos Verge, age 54, of Huntingdon, Quebec and formerly of Parsons Pond, announce his passing at Montreal, Quebec, on Jan.1, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Gregory was born in Hawkes Bay, the son of Donald and Philomena (Sheppard) Verge. Gregory grew up in Parsons Pond and as a young man moved to the Montreal area in the 1970s, working for over 30 years in aircraft maintenance at NordAir, Canadian Airlines and most recently Air Canada. He spent many years working in Calgary and Vancouver with Air Canada before returning back east. Greg was a devoted father, husband and a loyal friend to many people. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 26 years Carolyn (nee Sherry at Huntingdon, Quebec; children Derek and Shauna; brothers Gary (Angela) of Parsons Pond and Jeffrey (Romaine) of Fort McMurray, Alberta; sister Darlene (Paul) Bennett of Riverview, New Brunswick; mother-in-law Beatrice Sherry; brothers-in-law, Rick Sherry (Lorna) of Huntingdon and Bill Sherry (Cheryl) of Hamilton, Ontario, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins across the country. Visitation took place at the Salon Funeraire Rodrique Montpetit et fils Inc., 170 Chateauguay St., Huntingdon, Quebec, J0S 1H0, (Ph# 450-264-5331) on Friday, Jan. 4 followed by a funeral service at 8:30 p.m. Cremation will follow. A memorial service is being planned for springtime or early summer at Parsons Pond. Date to be announced later. In memory of, donations may be made to your local Canadian Cancer Society for research.

OLIVER, PERRY REUBEN
Hawkes Bay

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Reuben Perry announces his passing on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 81 years. He leaves to mourn his son Calvin (Gloria) of Hawkes Bay; granddaughters Barbie (Faron) of Hawkes Bay and Tammy (Darren) of Port Saunders; great-granddaughter Kaitlynn; brothers David (Thelma) of Alberta, Bert (Carmen) and Algie (Annie), both of Hawkes Bay; sisters Beth Payne of Port Saunders and Senna Hoddinott of Hawkes Bay, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Betty, parents Bert and Esther Perry, brothers Jim, Hubert and Nigel and sister Adelaide House. The family received friends at Bethel Pentecostal Church in Hawkes Bay Sunday evening and Monday from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, Jan 8 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery, River of Ponds. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

HOUSE, HARRIS
River of Ponds

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harris House announces his passing on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 55 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Elaine; daughters Nicky (Daryle) D’Aoust of Marathon, Ontario and Tammy (Brendon) of Whitecourt, Alberta; son Monty (Jennifer) of Whitecourt; grandchildren Dylan, Rene, Cole, LJ, Landon, Bailey and Tori; brothers Heber (Phyllis), Harold (Effie), Reg (Valarie) and Hiram (Jackie), all of River of Ponds, Lyman (Peggy of, Hawkes Bay, Ben (Patricia) of Annapolis Valley and Torin (Karen) of Goose Bay; sisters Selma (Derick) and Glenys (Dawson) of River of Ponds, Bessie (Freeman) of Daniels Harbour, Vivian (Stan) of Brig Bay, Millicent of Anchor Point, Sharon (Melvin) of Niagara Falls and Nancy (Rick) of Cow Head; mother-in-law Dora Young of Port Saunders and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Chesley and Clarrisa House and brother-in-law Sterling Sinnicks. The family received friends at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, River of Ponds on Monday and Tuesday from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, River of Ponds. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

PILGRIM, STELLA MARIE (NEE RICHARDS)
St. Anthony

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital with the comfort of her family by her side, on Jan. 6, 2008, Stella Pilgrim, age 67 years. Left with fond and loving memories son Alton (Catherine); daughter Sharon Young; grandchildren Brian, Malcolm, Lesley, Hillary, Jonathan, Grant and Katie; brothers and sisters Nina Bartlett (Boyd), Lillian Pilgrim (Wilfred), Betty Goudie (Edward), Willard Richards (Sherry), Linda Cox (Graham) and Tony Richards (Winnie) and a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Reginald, son Valence, parents Abram and Florrie (Pilgrim) Richards, brother Valence and son-in-law John Young. Visitation took place at K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at the Pentecostal Church at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan 9 with Pastor Joy and Rev. McGonigle officiating. Interment followed at the United Cemetery, St. Anthony Bight. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

BENNETT, KYLIE DOREEN
Deer Lake

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kylie Doreen Bennett (Dec. 23, 2004 – Jan. 6, 2008), announce her sudden and tragic death on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 in her 3rd year. She will be sadly missed by her mother Jeanette Blanchard; her father Sandy Bennett of Fort McMurray; her brother Alex; grandparents Fonce and Doreen Blanchard, great-grandparents Serina and Isaac Blanchard of Parsons Pond; grandparents Carolann and Derrick Bennett of Fort McMurray; aunt Jessica Blanchard, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake on Tuesday. The funeral service was held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church with Pastor Snow officiating. Interment followed at the family plot. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bartholomew Perry (Apr. 21, 1932 - Jan. 16, 2008), announces his passing on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre, Port Saunders in his 75th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Carmen; two sons Bert and Ricky; two daughters Joy (Jim) and Terrilynn (Rick); 11 grandchildren Lynnette, Harvey, Vincent, Jamie, Tanya, Crystal, Dara, Jodie, Christopher, Cameron and Sara; 10 great-grandchildren Kevin, Kathrina, Evan, Paige, Carter, Bailey, Billie, Jessie, Curtis and Kaden; two brothers David (Thelma) and Algie (Annie); two sisters Beth (Jesse) and Sena (Fred), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Bert and Esther, son Kirby, daughters Sheila, Marina and Hilda, brothers Hubert, Nigel, Jim and Reuben, and sister Athlet. Visitation took place on Wednesday evening, Thursday and Friday at Holy Innocent’s Church in Hawkes Bay from where the funeral service was held at on Saturday, Jan. 19 with Rev. White officiating. Interment followed at the family plot in River of Ponds Cemetery. Passed away on Jan. 17, 2008, Drucilla Morris, age 81 years. Leaving to mourn brother Llewelyn; sister Lillian; stepdaughter-in-law Millie; Alton (Phyllis), Harriet (Heber), Ches (Mabel), Minnie (Luther), William (Marilyn), Rose (Dominique), Dot (Wayne), Richard (Kim), Sid (Dorcas), Fanny (Donald) and Effie (Wallace); 35 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and a large number of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by husband George and stepson Warren. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in Charlottetown. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20 at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church in Charlottetown with Rev. Graham Hill and Pastor Purchase officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton.

TAYLOR, JOHN
Forrester’s Point

Passed away on Jan. 19, 2008. John Taylor, age 33 years. Leaving to mourn parents Sharon and Steve; grandmother Cecilia; aunts and uncles John (Alice), Wilson (Della), Cassie (Lawrence), Harriet (John) and Harold (Jessie), Beatrice, Isaac (Olive), Clayton (Sheila), Edna, Lillian (Claude), Joanie (Stephen), Caroline (Walter) and Kitty, and many other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22 with Rev. Gosse officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Levinia Caines Fillatre, funeral director.

RICHARDS, DAVID LLOYD
St. Anthony

Passed peacefully away on Jan.19, 2008, age 82 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 57 years, Vera (Noble) Richards; son Curtis (Lisa); daughters Hattie (Ronald) of Nova Scotia, Eileen (Robert), Donna (Lester), Timmia (Fraser) and Verla (Morgan) of St. Anthony; 12 grandchildren; two brothers Leslie (Violet) and Graham (Marie), as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by brothers Max, Ernest, Donald and Abram, sisters Nina, Marjorie and Mabel. Visitation took place at K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 2.pm. on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the United Church in St. Anthony with Rev. McGonigle officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

TUCKER, CHRISTOPHER RALPH
Hawkes Bay
1983-2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Christopher Tucker announces his sudden passing on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at the age of 24 years. He leaves to mourn his mother Thelma; brother Chad (Crystal) of Port Saunders; sister Sarah (Ryan); stepsister Amber Lapoint of Kingston, Ontario; nieces Brianna, Shelby and Brianna; nephews Keithan, Joshua and Bradley; aunts; uncles; cousins; other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Ralph Tucker, stepfather Jimmy Bertrand, grandparents Sarah and Edward Sinnicks, George and Gladys Tucker, aunts Peggy, Hilda and Sybil Sinnicks, and aunt Phyllis Tucker, uncles Norman Patey and Isreal (Flick) Tucker. Visitation took place at Holy Innocent’s Anglican Church in Hawkes Bay on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28 with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery in Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers and donations were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.’

SQUIRES, LEVI CLAYTON

Passed away on Jan. 26, 2008, Levi Squires, age 62 years. Leaving to mourn wife Joan; son Chris (Bella); daughter Ruth (Bob Banks); grandchildren Eddie, Matthew, Kyle, Catherine, Patrick and Dylan; sisters Louise (Rob Sharpe) and Irene (Steve Halliday); brothers Ralph, Cyril (Karen); mother-in-law Susie Parsons; brother-in-law Dave Parsons (Jasmin); sisters-in-law Donna Squires, Anne Squires, Sylvia Kao and Jill Parsons. He was predeceased by parents Levi and Lillian, son Edward, brothers Gordon (Shirley), Ernest and Leonard, father-in-law Max Parsons, sister-in-law Mary Squires and brother-in-law Ming Tao. Visitation took place at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Flowers Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30 with Rev. W.G. Colbourne officiating. Passed away on Jan. 26, 2008, Havner Saunders, age 67 years. Leaving with a lifetime of memories wife Marilyn; children Peggy Baker (Bruce), Clifford (Robin), Dianne Saunders (Brian), Janet Nemeth (Csuba), Dwayne (Brenda), Tammy Saunders, Ephriam (Jennifer) and Amy Saunders; grandchildren Leona, Vanessa, Corey, Kyle, Justin, Austin and Jennal; great-grandchild Felicity; siblings Bessie Pilgrim, Rebecca Pilgrim, Kezziah Richards, Dorcas Richards, Fred Saunders (Elsie), Wallace “San” Saunders (Eliza), Roy Saunders (Priscilla), Joyce Cornick (Ken), Melvin Saunders (Carol), Edgar Saunders (Sheila) and Velma Boyd (Morris), and a wide circle of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by parents George and Clara Saunders and sisters Vera and Ellen. Visitation took place at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Cook’s Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28 with Rev. Canon Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. SIMMS, FRANCIS OLIVER

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Francis Simms announces his passing on Monday, Jan. 28, 2008 at his residence in Deer Lake at the age of 77 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Velma; children Joan (Rex) Richards of Roddickton, Gilda (Perry) Norman of Dryden Ontario, Wanda (Peter) O’Neill of Calgary, Alberta, Colleen (Morgan ) Gill and Barbara (Ceasar) Pilgrim, both of Fort McMurray, Alberta, and Rex (Helen) Colbourne of Thompson, Manitoba; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Ruby Swain of Carbonear, Melvin (Louise) of Roddickton, Madeline (Warrick) Newman of Englee, Archibald (Pearl) of Roddickton and Leah (Ronald) Lidstone of Reidville, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at the Salvation Army Church in Englee on Thursday and Friday from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2 with Capts. Anthony Stokes and Beverly Ann Dart-stokes officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Englee. ELLIOTT, JESSIE LOUISE (NEE BUDGELL)
Passed peacefully away at Masonic Park Nursing Home on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, Jessie Elliott, age 90 years. She was predeceased by her husband Simeon, son Raymond, stepsons Tom and Ron, parents Beatrice and William Budgell, brothers Eugene, Raymond, George, Harold and Lester. Left with fond and loving memories are children Shirley (Lloyd Forward), Everett (Elizabeth) and Ruby (David Burt); stepdaughter Nina Kinnon; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister Vida Patey of St. Anthony, as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, followed by a funeral service at Barrett’s Chapel and interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
