PARDY, Kathleen Francis
Grand Falls-Windsor

Passed peacefully away January 1, 2007 at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor, Kathleen Francis Pardy (Poulton). She was 80 years of age. Mrs. Pardy retired from Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville in 1990. She was a member of NAPE and supported the Women’s Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer, sister Eileen, brother Frank, parents Edward and Ellen Poulton. Left to mourn are her sons Kevin (Louise) of Schefferville, Quebec and Ivan of St. John’s; daughters Jennifer (Roy) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Dianne (Wesley) of Fort McMurray, Alberta and Jo (Albert) of Grand Falls-Windsor; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and friends from England, Canada and the USA. Rev. Harold Tuck conducted funeral services at the First United Church in Grand Falls-Windsor on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007. Interment was at St. Alban’s Anglican Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Condolences may be expressed online at www.hoskinsfuneralhome.ca

FLYNN, Isabella
Forteau

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Isabella Flynn announce her passing at the long term care unit in Forteau on Jan. 1, 2007 at the age of 86 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories children Clarus (Mabel), Ethel Flynn, Richard (Eliza), Maggie Buckle (Hollis), Nelson (Madeline), Stelman (Betty), Nancy Flynn (Dean) and Cecil (Mary); 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters; two brothers, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred in 1989 and daughter Madelin. Visitors were received at the Anglican Church in Forteau on Monday and Tuesday from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, Jan. 3 with Rev. Norman Cutler officiating. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, L’Anse au Loup.

PATEY, Margaret
St. Anthony

Passed away on Jan. 1, 2007, Margaret Patey, age 90 years. Leaving to mourn sons Jerry (Sharon), Harold (Eleanor), Nat (Doretta) and Greg (Veronique); daughters Joy Parrill (Ross) and Salome Simmonds (Felix); 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ezra, sisters Olive Patey and Mary Gilley and brother Andrew Colbourne. Visitation took place at K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at the United Church with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

RICHARDS, Abram Thomas
St. Anthony

Passed away on Jan. 3, 2007, Abram Thomas Richards, age 90 years. He is survived by his children Stella Pilgrim, Nina Bartlett (Boyd), Lillian Pilgrim (Wilfred), Betty Goudie (Edward), Willard Richards (Sherry), Linda Cox (Graham) and Tony Richards (Winnie); 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Mabel Wells; three brothers David (Vera), Leslie (Violet) and Graham (Marie). He is predeceased by wife Florrie, son Valence, brothers Max, Ernest and Donald, sisters Nina and Marjorie, sons-in-law Reginald Pilgrim and Douglas Pilgrim, grandson Valence and great-grandsons Brady and Noah Pilgrim. Visitation took place at K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7 at the United Church with Rev. McGonigle officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

RANDELL, Wanda
Englee

Passed away on Jan. 3, 2007, Wanda Randell, age 51 years. Leaving to mourn son Doug (Denise); partner Ivan Langdon; mother Effie and many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by father Wesley and brother Chesley. At Wanda’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation was held at the United Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9 with Ms. Brinston, LPM officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

RANDELL, Wesley
Englee

Passed away on Jan. 9, 2007, Wesley Randell, age 78 years. Leaving to mourn wife Effie; daughter Debbie; sons Don (Louise) and Bob (Phoebe); grandson/son Doug (Denise); son-in-law Ivan; brother Dan; stepsister Ida (Cecil); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, as well as a circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by daughter Wanda, son Chesley, parents Esther and Esau Randell. Visitation took place at the United Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, with Ms. Brinston, LPM officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

CAINES, Dorcas E.
1929-2007

Passed away peacefully at Curtis Memorial Hospital on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, Dorcas E. Caines. Leaving to mourn sons Isaac (Dorothy), William (Gloria) and Garfield (Anne); daughters Dorothy (Wayne) and Marilyn (Weston); special grandchild Heidi; great-grandchild Alyson; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special friend Sheila (Gideon) and family as well as a large circle of friends. She was predeceased by husband Isaac, sister Kezia, brothers Jacob and Garfield. Visitors were received at her home in Forrester’s Point and St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove. The funeral service took place on Monday, Jan. 15 with Rev. Harrison Heidel, Rev. Stephen Maki and Bishop Percy Coffin officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Levinia Caines Fillatre, funeral director.

JOHNSON, Angela (Payne)
St. Anthony

Passed away on Jan. 12, 2007, Angela Johnson, age 42 years. Leaving too soon husband Leaton; daughters Brianna and Noelle; parents Lawrence and Sarah Payne; brothers Larry (Tammy) and Corey (Andrea); sister Jennifer Payne (Phil Lambert) and a very large number of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17 with Rev. Canon Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard and Levinia Caines, funeral directors.

MOREWOOD, Marie (Whalen)
Burlington, Ontario

Passed away at the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, Marie (nee Whalen) Morewood of Burlington at the age of 61 years. She was beloved wife of Gary Morewood and will also be lovingly remembered by Andrew Morewood and Carie-Anne and Joey Armsworthy. She was much loved sister of Josie Whalen of Toronto, Sybil (Jerry) March of Burlington, Winnie (Max) Seymour of Burlington, Wallace (Rita) Whalen of Unionville, and Frank (Sheila) Whalen and Glenda (Michael) Lloyd, all of Burlington; also survived by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Baxter, Irene and Leslie. Visitation was held at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), Burlington (905-632-3333) on Sunday from where the funeral service was held on Monday, Jan. 15 at 9 a.m. Interment followed at Burlington Memorial Gardens. If desired, expressions of sympathy to the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

REARDON-YOUNG, Ellen
Goose Cove

Passed away on Jan. 15, 2007, Ellen Young of Goose Cove age 82 years. She is survived by her husband Alexander Young, sons Michael (Bertha), Albert (Lubya), Bernard (Madonna), Dominic (Gerlinde), Pius (Anne) and Greg (Bertha); daughters Minnie and Marie; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine stepsons and two stepdaughters. She was predeceased by her first husband Albert Reardon, sons-in-law Joe Troy (Marie) and Gerald Shelley (Minnie), stepson Roy Young and grandson Albert Shelley. Visitation took place at K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19 at the Roman Catholic Church in Goose Cove with Fr. Varghese officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton.

CANNING, William Joseph
Roddickton

Passed away on Jan. 17, 2007, William Canning, age 100 years. He will be remembered by a large circle of family and friends including daughter Kathleen (Ambrose) Newbury; son-in-law Fred Coles; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20 with Pastor Grimes officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Levinia Caines, funeral director.

ALYWARD, Leo
St. Julien’s

Passed away on Jan. 21, 2007, Leo Alyward of St. Julien’s, age 60 years. Leaving to mourn wife Phyllis; sons Dwayne and Nathan; daughters Daisy (Dean) and Diane (Nic); grandchildren Alena, Kyra, Dmitire, Donavan and Dakota; brother Raymond and father-in-law John Whiteway. She was predeceased by her parents Alice and Cyril and mother-in-law Maude Whiteway and brother-in-law Kevin. Visitation was held at St. William’s Roman Catholic Church in St. Julien’s from where the funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25 with Fr. Vargese officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

SCANLON, Walter Joseph
Castor River North

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Walter Joseph Scanlon announces his passing on Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders in his 86th year. He leaves to mourn his son Brian (Mary); grandsons Barry (Rachel) and Brian (Iris); granddaughter Violet; great-grandchildren Quinn, Morgan, MacKenzie, Russell, all residing at Castor River North, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at St. Anne’s Chapel, Castor River North on Tuesday and Wednesday from where the funeral service took place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25 with Fr. Roger officiating. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bartlett’s Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix. TUCKER, Roland
Reef’s Harbour
1926-2007

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roland Tucker announces his passing on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 at the Baie Verte Health Centre in his 81st year. He leaves to mourn one sister Irene Wiggins; two brothers John and George of Hartford, Connecticut, USA, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Phillip and Pricilla, sisters Louise, Marjorie and Selina, brother Ralph and special cousin and friend Cyril Humber. Cremation took place at Humber Valley Crematorium. Arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

1932-2007

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Amy Chapella announces her passing on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders in her 75th year. Leaving to mourn her common-law husband Vandor Caines; children Paul (Chris), Joy (Stan), Randy (Valerie), Darlene (Barry) Warren (Roslyn) and Tom (Alma); grandchildren Ken, Corey, Jason, Amy, Melvin, Travis (Wanda-Lee), Bernard, Jamie (Lynette), Jessica, Dawn-Marie, Jada, Nicole, Angela, Gavin and Gregory; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters John (Eliza), Rose, Veronica (Bruce), Mary, Ben (Audrey) and Gert (Melvin) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Isadore and Mary Ann Lavers, husband Bernard Sr., children Bernard Jr. and Terrance, brothers and sisters Arthur, Henry, Maude, Angela and Theresa. The family received friends at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Port Saunders on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service took place at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 29 with Fr. Jim Robertson officiating. Interment followed in the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to Rufus Guinchard Health Centre long term care unit or Chemotherapy unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

COOPER, Annie
Roddickton

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital on Jan. 26, 2007, Annie Cooper in her 95th year. Leaving to mourn sons Nath (Linda) and Rex (Lillian); grandchildren Mark (Loraine) and Lori (Darrell), Kelly (Jamie) and Duke (Denise), great-grandchildren Kaleb, Jenna and Emma; brother-in-law Thomas Cooper (Gladys); sister-in-law Effie Cooper, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Rev. Joseph Cooper and daughter Kathryn. The funeral service took place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Main Brook on Monday, Jan. 29 with Rev. Harrison Heidel officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

NICHOLAS, Lillian (Pilgrim)

Passed away on Jan. 27, 2007, Lillian Nicholas of St. Anthony, age 74 years. Leaving with a lifetime of memories husband Albert; children Jean (Chris), Colleen (Manuel) and David (Claudine); grandchildren Christopher and Nicholas; brothers John Pilgrim (Kay), Don Pilgrim (Edna) and Gregory Pilgrim. She was predeceased by her parents Ephriam and Jamima Pilgrim and her sister Rose. Family visitation took place at K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Canon Brenton-Hickman officiating. WILCOX, Elsie
Roddickton

Passed away on Jan. 29, 2007, Elsie Wilcox, age 92 years. Leaving to mourn sons Melvin (Evelyn) Wilcox and George (Kelly) Wilcox, both of Roddickton; daughter Vernetta (Randolph) Welcher of Roddickton; sisters Pearl Wilcox of St. Anthony, Beatrice (William) Wilcox of Englee, and Julia (Jesse) Bushey, Marie Hancock and Isabella (Edward) Hancock, all of Roddickton; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a large number of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31 with Rev. Cassell officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mahala Belben announces her passing at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Jan. 29, 2007. Leaving to mourn with loving memories husband Alfred; sons James Smith (Jean), Alfred Jr. and David (Donna); grandchildren Annette, Robert, Ryan, Jonathon, Shania, Tanisha and Logan; sisters Cornelia Linstead and Marie Roberts (Warren); brothers Baxter Linstead (Sadie) and Gilbert Linstead (Sybil), as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Wavey and parents Wesley and Alice Ann Linstead. Visitation took place at L’Anse au Loup Gospel Hall on Tuesday and Wednesday from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1 with Mr. Francis Barney and Mr. Edward Barney officiating. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home Ltd., L’Anse au Loup.

TOOPE, Deborah (Pittman)
Blue Cove

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Jan. 31, 2007, Deborah Toope in her 80th year. Leaving to mourn daughter Sybil; sons George and Maxwell (Shirley); grandchildren Vicki (Cleon), Shannon (Kelly) and Brandon; great-grandchildren Josh and Jorja; brothers John Pittman (Annie) and George Pittman (Ruth); sister Mary Jane Taylor (Gordon), Maude Chambers (James), Elizabeth Crane (John), as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Oliver (1972), mother and father John and Mary Margaret and sister-in-law Mary Anne. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Plum Point from where the Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3 with Rev. Hiedel officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery on Darby’s Island. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, Funeral director.
