ANDERSON, Alfred
Passed on: February 27th, 2015

Passed peacefully away on February 27, 2015 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Alfred Anderson in his 89th year. He was predeceased by parents Charles and Delena, and brothers Job and Gower. Alfred is survived by wife Pearl; children Jim (Ann), Audrey (Tabi), and Dwight (Judy); grandchildren Terri (Ian), Khatija, Yasmin, and Amy (Gerry); brothers Maxwell (Gladys), and Dorman (Rose); sisters-in-law Helen and Dorothy Anderson, as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews. Visitation was held at the Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony, from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 with Rev. Fr. Paul C. Findlay officiating. Burial followed the service in the St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

COLBOURNE, Dora
Passed on: February 25th, 2015

Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 25th of February, 2015, Mrs. Dora Maude Colbourne of L'Anse aux Meadows in her 88th year. Left to mourn Maude's passing are her sons Lester (Hope), Winston (Eliza), Clifford (Rosalyn), Clayton (Dorothy), and Goward (Corrine); daughters Faye Elliott (Amos), Emma Elliott, and Hazel Tucker (Owen); son-in-law Gerard Noonan; 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Maude was predeceased by her husband Harvey Colbourne, parents William and Emma Bartlett, sisters Mamie Taylor and Violet Pilgrim, brothers Douglas and Hedley Bartlett, sons Harvey and Wayne Colbourne, daughter Selma Noonan and son-in-law Ozwald Elliott. Visitation was held at the Central United Church, Quirpon Branch from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Burial followed the service in the L'Anse aux Meadows Community Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

COLBOURNE, Warrick (Lou)

Passed away into peace at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 19th day of February, 2015 with his family by his side, Mr. Warrick (Lou) Colbourne in his 58th year. Left to mourn his loss are his wife Agnes Colbourne; son Shane (Tammy), his children Crystal and Shannon, and son Sheldon (Sarah), his children Ethan and Shannel; daughter Samantha (Denzil), her child Emma; brothers Ford (Rita), Wesley (Elizabeth), Oscar (Patrica), Alvin (Carol), Derrick (Donna); sister Denise (Jim), several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father, George and Linda Colbourne. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes in St. Anthony, after which the funeral service was held at the Salvation Army Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22 with Major Dinzel Baggs officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

CULL, Rita Carmen
Passed away into peace on the 28th of February, 2015 at the Health Science Center in St. John's, Mrs. Rita C. Cull of St. Anthony in her 71st year. Left to mourn her loss are her husband Glossen Cull, daughter Judy Cull, sons Terry and Gordon Cull; daughters-in-law Tara Cull and Vanessa Simms; six grandchildren; sister Sandra Sinyard and brothers Jim and William Sinyard; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony, after which the funeral service was held at the Salvation Army Church at 2:00 pm on the 8th of March 2015 with Major Kathleen Baggs officiating, burial will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

GENGE, Garfield
Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 25th day of February 2015, Mr. Garfield Genge in his 79th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his brother Pierce (wives Stella and Lourie, deceased); sister Joanna (Jacob, deceased) Sinnicks; sister-in-law Renie (George, deceased), many nephews, nieces, and special Nephew Marvin (Louise) Genge, and a large circle of friends. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Sarah, his siblings Lourie, Rachel, Douglas (Deborah), George, Emmanuel (Dora), and Margaret (Pierce) Sheppard. Visitation was held at the St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 with Rev. Irving Letto officiating. Interment followed in the New Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

GENGE, Susanna

Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 18th day of February 2015, Mrs. Susanna Genge in her 91st year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Sheila Coles; sons Tony (Sadie), Robert (Clara), and Cyril (Julie); sisters Donalda McDonald and Flora Murdock; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law Elizabeth and Ivy as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Harrison, sons Albert and Charlie, daughter-in-law Marie, son-in-law Lambert Coles, sister Virtue and parents Albert and Jessie Rose. Visitation took place at the St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the funeral service was held on Friday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Irving Letto officiating. Interment followed in the old Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

GOULD, Bruce

It is with great sorrow that the family of Bruce Gould of Port au Choix announce his sudden passing on Feb. 15, 2015 at the age of 67 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Evelyn Gould (Byron House); son Bruce Gould (Mandy); grandchildren Jenny and Angie; partner Marilyn Pretty; sisters Janice Gould (Rick), Laura Plowman, Paulette Gould, Yvonne Gould, Clara Patey (Ernie) and Mary Snyder; brothers John Gould and Melvin Carberry as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Leo and Charlotte Gould, sister Darlene King, brothers Raymond and Leo (Jake) Gould. Visitation took place at Fillatre's Funeral Homes, Port au Choix on Monday and Tuesday with a family service on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued on Wednesday, followed by the funeral service which was held at St Theresa's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. with Father Raj officiating. KELLY, Gordon
Passed on: February 26th, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Kelly (1947-2015) announces his sudden passing on Thursday, February 26th at the age of 67 years. He leaves to mourn his wife and friend Irene; daughter Lola (Martin); sons Glen (Jennie) and Lorrie (Jeanine); grandchildren Kristopher, Emilie, Kailie, Sara, Brian and Karter. He also leaves to mourn seven brothers and eight sisters; 19 nieces; 24 nephews and a large circle of friends. He loved his family and friends as they loved him and they will forever miss him. He was predeceased by his parents Alphonsus and Frances Kelly. His funeral service was held on Monday, March 1 at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Port au Choix at 11:00 a.m. with Father Raj officiating. LAWRENCE, Sarah Evangeline (Eva)

Born in St. Anthony on the 20th of March, 1923 Sarah Evangeline(Eva)Lawrence to Ambrose and Gertrude Sulley (Pynn) of St. Anthony. Eva married Joseph Horatio Lawrence of Port aux Basques on April 19, 1949, and together they had two sons, Dennis and Orville. She lived a full life with many accomplishments and pastimes, including completing her teaching diploma at Memorial University in St. John's, teaching in northern Newfoundland at Griquet, Quirpon, Main Brook, and the Grenfell School in St. Anthony. Eva was best known for her support of the Curtis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she actively participated in the gift shop, and continued knitting for the auxiliary up to the just a few days before her passing. Eva was always an active woman, with interests in education and community service. She was supportive in the Lions Club, Athletic Club and the Hospital Auxiliary. Eva passed away peacefully on Feb. 6, 2015 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony with her family by her side, at the great age of 91 years. Left to mourn are her sons Dennis and Orville; five grandchildren, Matthew Joseph, Ryan Everett, Reginald Joseph, Olivia Marie, and Julia Sarah Anne; daughter-in-law, Kelly Lawrence; sister Gloria Marshall and sister-in-law Emily Sulley as well as close family, Don and Linda Loder, Karla Loder, Lee Hillier and Shirley Farrell; brother-in-law Fred Lawrence; sisters-in-law Shirley Yard and Clarinda Lawrence. Eva was predeceased by her loving husband Joe, parents Ambrose and Gertrude Sulley, brothers Robert (Bob), Russ Sulley, as well as her sister Zilda Hillier. In the last year, Eva was blessed with wonderful care from the hospital staff (1st Floor), home care (all the personal touches) and her many friends and the great staff at Shirley's Haven, she loved you all. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday Feb. 10 at St. Anthony United Church with Rev. Dinesh Gomes officiating. A private interment followed on Wednesday Feb.11 at 4 p.m. at the Fishing Point Cemetery in St. Anthony. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

MITCHELMORE, Dorcas

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 26th day of February, 2015, Mrs. Dorcas Mitchelmore in her 72nd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 52 years, Winston; her children Winston, Marlene (Eric), Faye (Gerald), Julie (Harvey), Milton (Susan), and Josie (Dwight); grandchildren Jordan, Susie, Brandi, Robby, Jada, Danny, Chuck, Brady, Michelle, and Monique; great-grandchildren Chloe, Isaac, Peyton, Spencer, Bella, and Layla; sister Lydia (Eldred); brothers George W. (Marina) and Whyman as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Reginald and Johanna, sister Julie and sister-in-law Minnie. Visitation took place at the St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Green Island Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

PATEY, Madonna

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Madonna Patey announces her passing on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 68 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Donald; son Dwane (Brittany); grandchildren Claire and Ben; mother Edna Cadet; siblings John (Sis), Norma (Edwin), Maurice (Debby), Tom (Sarah), Vange (Myles), and Murray (Laverne); aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father Clement Cadet. Visitation was held at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix on Friday, Feb. 27 followed by the funeral service which took place on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Port au Choix with Father Raj officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shelley Diane Pretty (April 16, 1959 - Feb. 23, 2015) announces her passing at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at the age of 55. She will be forever loved, missed and remembered by her husband of 34 years Wince House; daughters Mandy Simmonds (Mark), Lisa Hann (Warren), and Valda House (Roger); grandchildren Mark Hann (April), Loretta Hann, Allison Jones (Clarence), Justin (J.B) House (Brandie), Jacob and Hannah Simmonds; great-grandchildren Deidra, Dorman, Keira, CJ, Landon, and Elum; sisters Colleen Corbin-Dingwell, Dort Walsh (Dave), Holly Patey, and Kim Kennedy; brothers Kenny Pretty, Larry Pretty, Nick Pretty (Carol), as well as a large circle of beloved family and friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Josephine Pretty, her brother Barry Pretty and nephew Jonathan French. In keeping with her wishes cremation has already taken place. Visitation took place on Friday, Feb. 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue, Corner Brook. The memorial service followed on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Fillatre's Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Naomi Randell
, age 92 was born in Williamsport on Dec 16, 1922. She passed peacefully away Friday Feb. 6, 2015 at The Angus Pratt Nursing Home in St. John's. Leaving to mourn her beloved children Freeman Randell, Eileen Evans (Dave), Scott Randell (Rae), Grant Randell (Bonetta) and Dean Randell (Debbie); her beloved grandchildren, Ingrid Evans (Dave), Timothy Randell and Brett Gillard; brother-in-law Rueben Randell (Nellie); nephew Craig Randell and niece Karen Hann (Shane); along with a wide circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Timothy Randell and daughter Bernice Randell. Visitation was held at the United Church in Englee from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.with Rev. Harold Harvey officiating. Interment followed at the New United Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director. RUMBOLT, Jerome

It is with great loss and sadness that the family of the late Jerome Rumbolt of Castor River South announces his peaceful passing at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015 at age 71 years. He leaves to mourn a loving wife Naomi; children Randy, Cassie (Dennis) and Earnie (Deanna); grandchildren Chesley, Cornelia, Michael, Eden, Amber, DJ and Rendell; great-granddaughter Aubree; brother Ben (Jane); sisters Blanche (Joe), Rebecca (Joe), Joyce, Millicent and Emma (Cliff). He was predeceased by his son Rendell and parents Jerome and Adeline Rumbolt. He is gone but will never be forgotten. The funeral service took place at Queen of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Castor River South on Friday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in New Ferolle with Father Raj officiating. Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 21st day of February 2015, Mr. Dennis Anthony Troy in his 68th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 41 years Leona; sons Darren (Debbie), Jeffrey and Peter (Mindy); daughter Charmaine Alyward (Edward); grandchildren Corey, Travis, Kendra, Jamie, Jake, Jenna, Courtney, Eve, Logan, and Addison; brothers Vince, Mike, Felix (Edna), and Garry (Flo); sisters Minnie Walsh, and Gertie (Bax) Pilgrim; mother-in-law Kathleen Woodford, and brother-in-law Will Cull as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Rita Troy, sister Ann Cull, father-in-law James Woodford, and brother-in-law Pat Walsh. Visitation took place at the funeral home in St. Anthony, after which the funeral mass was held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Goose Cove at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24 with Fr. Vitus Echedo officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in Goose Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
