COMPTON, George Garland
Passed peacefully away at the White Bay Health Centre in Roddickton on Feb. 27, 2014, Mr. George Garland Compton of Englee, in his 88th year. He leaves to mourn with cherished and loving memories his wife of 64 years Nellie Compton, Englee; son Morgan (Bobbi) Compton, Fort McMurray, Alberta; daughters Mae (David) Gill, Englee, Frances (Garfield) Newman, Englee, Judy Denney (partner Ted Crouser), Edmonton, Alberta, Sheila (Ivan) Tymchuk, Sudbury, Ontario, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Eve Compton and two brothers Albert and Luke. Visitation took place at The Apostolic Faith Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 3 with Pastor George Burton and Pastor Fred Randell officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

COOMBS, Asaph
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Asaph Coombs of Reef's Harbour, NL announce his passing on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at the Strait of Belle Isle Health Centre in Flowers Cove at the age of 58 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Marion; daughter Deann; brothers Albert (Olga), Roland (Myrtle), and Angus; sisters Barbara (Henry), Marie (Rex), Dorcas (Stewart), Bertha (David), Mona and Lucy (Hubert); sister-in-law Georgina; brother-in-law Chesley; and a circle of nieces, nephews, extended family Pittman's and Hynes, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Roland and Florence, brothers Nelson, George Henry, sister Effie, sister-in-law Viola, niece Colleen, nephews Curtis and Mitch, brother-in-law Lambert. Visitation took place at St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church in Reefs Harbour on Wednesday evening and Thursday from where the funeral service took place on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harvey officiating. Interment followed at French Cove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.
