2, 2009. Frank Smith Sr. of Cook's Harbour, age 72 years. Leaving to mourn
sons Hedley (Lisa), Grant (Lenora), and Frank (Nicole) Smith; grandchildren
Robyn and Myah Hedderson, and Jordan Smith; brothers Tom, Henry,
Winston, George and Alphaeus Smith, He was predeceased by his wife
Shirley. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Cook's Harbour
from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb.
6, with Rev. Graham officiating. Interment followed at the church
cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre

Passed away at Flowers Cove on Feb. 6, 2009 Orval Caddy, at the age

CARROLL, Clifford J.
Conche
Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony
on Feb. 8, 2009, age 82 years. He was predeceased by parents Catherine
and Patrick Carroll, sisters Mary (Minnie), Josephine (SR. M. Antonio
R.S.M.), Bridget and Ann, and brothers Daniel, Bernard and Vincent.
Leaving to mourn sister-in-law Josephine Carroll; brother-in-law
Cyril Flynn, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends. Special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses and
all personnel at the Curtis Memorial Hospital, and to all management
and staff at Shirley's Haven, St. Anthony, where he resided for a
period of time. Many thanks to Fr. Devas and to all in Conche who
participated in the funeral service, and to those who so wonderfully
helped in inclement weather with grave digging, with visiting the
church, and with interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Thanks to also
to those who sent words of condolence, gave mass cards, and to all

It was with great sadness that the family of the late Donald
Caines announce his passing on Wednesday, Feb.
11, 2009 at the Rufus Guinchard
Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 69 years. Leaving to
mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Mary; daughters Valda
(George) White of Torbay and Adoralyn (Derm) Kenny of St. Phillips;
sons Benedict (Michelle Surmay) of Wainwright, Alberta, and Cedric
(Kimberley) of Port au Choix; grandchildren Lauren, Sarah, Emma and
Christopher; sisters Eileen Beaudoin, of Yellowknife, Bernice (Frank)
Gould and Noreen (Jerome) Scanlon; brothers Adelor (Elizabeth), Gordon
(Aggie) and Clifford (Anne) all residing at Port au Choix, as well
as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Gertrude (Gert) and Lawrence (Laud),
grandson Alex, brothers Raphael, Edmund and Lawrence. The family
received friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix on Thursday
and Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service took place
on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic
Church with Fr. Jim Robertson officiating. Interment followed at
the Interfaith Cemetery in Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy,
in lieu of flowers the family will accept donations towards the purchase
of items for the Palliative Care Unit at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre
in Port Saunders. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's

Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre on Feb. 11, 2009.
Llewellyn Taylor of Raleigh, age 93 years. Leaving to mourn four sons Harvey
(Selma), Abiel (Viola), William (Sharon) and Norman (Flossie), three
daughters Bertha (George), Lucy, Druscella (Louden), and daughter-
in-law Ivy; 34 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren;
two brothers Elijiah and Valen; two sisters Flossie and Helen, and
a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased
by wife Emily, son Hector and son-in-law Ruben, father and mother
Harvey and Eva, one brother Earnest and three sisters Evelyn, Bertha
and Ivy. Visitation was held at the United Church in Raleigh from
where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15,
2009 with Rev. Pendleton officiating. Interment followed at the church

Passed away at Curtis Memorial Hospital on Feb.13,
2009, at the age
of 73 years. Leaving to mourn wife Marina; children Bruce (Beulah),
Barbara (Albert) Noseworthy, Brian (Kathleen), and Boyd (Cindy);
grandchildren Marvella, Bonnie, Amanda, Candy, Sandy, Beverly, Sherri,
Bradley, Nicholas and Katlyn; brother Stanley (Amy); sisters Rachel
Applin (Richard Henry predeceased) and Olga Whalen (Roland). He was
predeceased by his son Barrie, parents John Thomas and Emily, brothers
John and Curtis. Visitation took place at St. Andrew's Church, Lower
Cove, from where the funeral service was held on Monday, Feb. 16,
with Rev. Diane Smith and lay reader Geneva Woodward officiating.
Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Eddies Cove East.

Payne announce his passing on Friday, Feb.

Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 73 years. Leaving
to mourn are his wife Cassie; daughters Liga (Eddie) Gould, Renna
(Bradley) Atkins of Port au Choix, and Melina of Prince Edward Island;
sons Leonard (Sonya) of Port Saunders, and Rick Biggin (Alma) of
Daniels Harbour; grandchildren Edmund, Christopher, Jodi, Kimberly,
Khloe, Tyra, Brandi, Melissa, and Rochelle; great-grandchildren Madison,
and Jessica; sister Loretta; brother-in-law Walter House; sisters-in-law
Betty Payne, Viola Payne, and Eileen Payne, and a large circle of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased
by his parents Leonard and Flora Payne, sisters Audrey and Elizabeth,
brothers Guy, Gerald, Jesse, William, Ralph and Ivan. The family
received friends at St. John the Divine Church on Sunday and Monday
from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at
2 p.m. with Rev Tanya White officiating. Interment followed at the
Interfaith Cemetery in Sandy Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted

Passed away at Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook on Feb.
18, 2009. Sybil Tucker of Reef's Harbour, age 59 years. Leaving with
a lifetime of memories husband John; son Bruce (Brada); grandchild
Braden; sister Joyce (Oz); nephew Darrell; mother Ida; brothers-in-law
Dudley, Roger, Steve (Joy), and Jim (Floss), as well as nieces and
nephews and a wide circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased
by father Absalom, brother Frank, father and mother-in-law Steve
and Matilda, brother-in-law George and sisters-in-law Jenny and Paulette.
Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Reef's Harbour from
where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb.
21, with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. Interment followed at the church

It was with great sadness that the family of the late Archibald
Pilgrim announce his sudden passing at his family residence
on Tuesday
Feb. 24, 2009 in his 71st year. Leaving
to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Pearl (nee Decker);
sons Cliff (Lori), Kirby (Peggy), Keith (Jo-Ann) and Dwayne; daughter
Vida (Boyd); nine grandchildren Tanya, Amanda, Nichole, Brittany,
Tracey, Brent, Marla, Brian, and Kevin; two great-grandchildren Ryan
and Alexis; brothers Wesley (Rose) Casper (Isabelle), Wayne and Dennis
(Alice); sisters Jessie, Maude (Robert), Edith, Betty (Vern) and
Elsie (Herbert) and sister-in-law Donna. Arch was predeceased by
his parents Maisie and Reuben Pilgrim, son Graham, sister Marie,
brothers Lindsay and Calvin, brothers-in-law George and Jim, and
sister-in-law Dianne. The family received family and friends Wednesday
and Thursday at Parsons Funeral Home and Chapel, 63 North Main Street,
Deer Lake. The funeral service was held on Friday Feb. 27, at the
Pentecostal Church in Deer Lake at 2 p.m. with Pastor Peter Grimes
officiating. The burial followed at the church cemetery in Wights
Road, Deer Lake. The funeral arrangements were under the direction
