With great sadness, niece, Angela Walsh (Jerry), of the late Theresa
O’Neill (1919 – 2008) announces her sudden passing at
the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Feb. 1, 2008, age 88 years.
Leaving to mourn sisters Rita Power of Conche, Mary Kearney of Croque,
Marie Hill of Griquet and Nellie Byrne of St. Anthony; special nieces
Dorothy LeBarge and Marie Byrne; special nephews Albert Power (Debbie),
Anthony Power (Lori) and Maurice Power; special sisters-in-law Amelia
Carroll and Laura Byrne; special friend Mary Ann Blake of Shirley’s
Haven, St. Anthony, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her loving husband
of 56 years, Fred O’Neil (June, 1999), sisters Vellidue Fitzpatrick,
brothers Frank, William and Anthony Carroll. Visitation took place
at Sacred Heart Church in Conche from where the funeral service was
held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5 with Fr. Devas, parish priest

REEVES, MARIE (NEE TALBOT)

Jan. 27, 1925 – Feb. 2, 2008
Passed peacefully away at the Deer Lake Manor on Saturday,
Feb. 2, 2008, at the age of 83 years, Marie Reeves. She leaves to mourn with
fond and loving memories her two sons John Reeves (Holly) of Englee,
George O’Rielly (Jean) of Bowmanville, Ontario; five grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of other relatives
and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Stanislaus Reeves.
Visitation took place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic
Drive, Deer Lake on Monday. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m.
on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church
in Deer Lake with Fr. Aiden Devine officiating. Interment followed
at the Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery. As expressions of
sympathy, donations may be made to the Roman Catholic Church in Deer
Lake or the Gideon Bible Fund. Marie was a very special lady who
spent numerous hours with her prayer beads and saying prayers for
her loved ones and friends. She was a small woman with a big heart.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kevin
Tatchell announces his passing on Tuesday,
Feb. 5, 2008 at Western Memorial
Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 71 years. He leaves
to mourn his wife Agatha; son Jeremy; sisters Clara (Arthur) of
Castor River South and Nellie of Bartlett’s Harbour; brothers Joe
(Rebecca), Gord and Ike (Nora) of Castor River South; very special
nephew Lyman (Edna), and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and
Winnifred Tatchell, brothers Patrick and Henry, sister Mabel Newcombe,
mother-in-law and father-in-law Mary Ann and Edward Rumbolt, brother-in-law
Eugene Plowman and sister-in-law Hilda Tatchell. The family received
friends at Our Lady of Angel Catholic Church in Castor River South
on Thursday and Friday from where the funeral service was held on
Saturday, Feb. 9 with Fr. Roger officiating. Interment followed at
French Cove Cemetery in New Ferolle. As expressions of sympathy,

PATEY, REUBEN McKINLEY
St. Anthony
Reuben McKinley Patey was born on May 7, 1926 to William F. Patey
and Edith (Rose) Patey, formerly of Flowers Cove. He grew up in St.
Anthony where he fished with his father. He worked as a carpenter
on Curtis Memorial Hospital and later in Labrador but his real passion
was local history, of which he spent hours researching items about
Pateyville and the whole region. He lived with his mother and sister
until they passed away. He then lived alone until May 2006 when he
became a resident at Shirley’s Haven. He settled in right away
and truly enjoyed the time he spent with other residents and staff.
On Tuesday, Feb. 5, he passed peacefully away, surrounded by his
family. He is survived by his sisters Frances Hedderson and Amelia
Dunphy, younger brother Ralph, 17 nieces and nephews, over 30 great-nieces
and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased
by his parents and sister Marie. He will be sadly missed. Visitation
took place at K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral
service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8 at the United Church
in St. Anthony with Rev. McGonigle officiating. Interment followed
at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M.

Surrounded by family, the death of Wally Decker occurred on February
19th, 2008 at his residence in Waasis. Born
Nov. 21, 1966, in Cook’s
Harbour, he was the youngest child of Melvin and Christena (Larkin)
Decker. Wally was predeceased by his grandparents, several aunts
and uncles, his nephew Brady and his special cousin Kirby. Wally
was a loving husband to his wife Natasha (Hudson) Decker and father
to Mitch and Brandi Decker. He is also survived by his sisters
Carolyn (Craig) Campbell, Leona (Ron) O’Neill, and Trudy
(Lyndon) Pilgrim; parents-in-law Robert and Dianne Hudson; brother-in-law
Shawn (Sherri) Hudson with their son Zack; nephews Jeremy (Erin)
Campbell with their son Tyler, Darrell (Jenna) Decker with their
daughter Hailey; nieces Kate and Laura O’Neill, and Krystyn
Pilgrim. Visitation took place at Oromocto Select Community Funeral

Born March 1, 1951 at his home in Curzon Village at Woody Point,
Ron Halfyard passed away on Wednesday, Feb.
20, 2008 in the very
same room he was born in. A passionate loving Dad, loyal to his bike
and the open road, his home in Newfoundland and Labrador would always
be his final destination. Loved and missed by his family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. The arrangements were under the direction
of Parsons Funeral Home, Deer Lake.

Noddy Bay
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nimrod
Hedderson announces his passing on Thursday,
Feb. 21, 2008 at Shirley’s
Haven Interfaith Home in St. Anthony at the age of 74 years. Nimrod
was born on May 7, 1933 to Walter and A. Victoria Eddison in Noddy
Bay. He taught school in Port Hope Simpson and Little Brehat, but
fished most of his adult life with his brother Wesley in Noddy Bay.
He was a kind and gentle man who was very passionate about the fishery.
He became a resident at Shirley’s Haven in 2007 and was extremely
fond of the girls who cared for him. He would refer to them as his
angels. He is survived by his sisters Mary Ann Blake and Sarah Jane
Bishop, brothers Ambrose Hedderson, Wesley Eddison, Francis Hedderson
and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many
other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and
his sisters Bertha, Johanna and Blanche. He will be sadly missed.
Visitation took place at the United Church in Noddy Bay from where
the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24 with Rev.
Pendleton officiating. Interment followed in the cemetery in Quirpon.
