MCGRATH, GARRY JOSEPH
Jan. 16, 1960 - Feb. 7, 2004

It is with great sadness that we, the McGrath family of Edmonton , Alberta (formerly of Conche), announce the passing of Garry McGrath. Garry is survived by his wife Sharon; sons Garry (Kelly), Johnathan (Mercedes), Alex and Jeremy; grandson Logan; mother Doreen; brothers Jerry (Vicki) and Dale (Suzanne); sister Peggy (Dave); nephews Dave, Ryan, Brandon and Sean; niece Savannah, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Newfoundland and Alberta . Garry was predeceased by his father John Joe McGrath, grandparents Michael and Stella Hunt, Joseph and Isabella McGrath, uncle Leo McGrath and uncle Fred Hunt, aunt Mary Hunt, cousins Barry Hunt and Kevin Whiteway. A memorial service will be held in Edmonton at a later date. We wish to thank everyone for their prayers, support, phone calls and cards during the past 20 months, it was greatly appreciated.

HUMBY, SYBIL EDNA (NEE TAYLOR)
St. Lunaire-Griquet

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Feb. 7, 2004. She was in her 51st year. She leaves to mourn husband Cecil; sons Bradley (Tammy Lee) and Byron (Robin); daughters Christeena (Morgan) and Cindy; grandchildren Caitlin, Megan, Jennifer, Joshua, Jeffery and Emily; sisters Judy (Norman Hillier) and Dora (Edward Bolger); brothers Wallace (Ivy) and Clayton (Pearl); stepfather Sydney Taylor, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Leah. Visitation took place at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Griquet from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11 with Pastor Andrews officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

WEIR, MAXWELL BERT
Roddickton

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital on Feb. 10, 2004. He was in his 49th year. Bert was born in Roddickton on June 21, 1954 to Esther (Curlew) Weir and the late Max Weir. On May 19, 1979 he joined his life with Carol Hannem of Lewisporte. Together they raised two daughters. Bert was a loving husband and father who for the last four years suffered with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). He leaves to mourn wife Carol (Hannem); daughters Amanda and Amy; mother Esther of Roddickton; brothers Frank (Linda) and Melvin (Agnes) of Roddickton; sisters Byrl (Hubert) Humby, Joan (Eric) Kinden and Elaine (Bennett) Cassell, all of Roddickton, Gladys (Allan) Johnson of Warren, Ontario and Greta (Jim) Curtis of Val Caron, Ontario; father-in-law Gerald Hannem; mother-in-law Joyce Hannem of Lewisporte; sisters-in-law Karen (Warrick) Hopkins of Lewisporte, Brenda (Cluney) of Deadman's Bay and Kimberly (Craig) Saunders of Stephenville; brothers-inlaw David (Tammy) of Cambridge , Ontario and Darryl (Rhoda) of Lewisporte, as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by all. Visitation took place at Calvary Pentecostal Temple in Roddickton from where the funeral was held on Feb. 14, 2004 assisted by the Newfoundland and Labrador Conservation Officers Honour Guard, Pastor Keith Simms officiating assisted by Pastor C.F. Dalley. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, Roddickton, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

FOWLER, CLARUS
Capstan Island

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clarus Fowler announce his passing at his home in Capstan Island on Feb. 10, 2004. He was in his 64th year. Leaving to mourn with fond memories his wife Melsie Fowler; children Viola (Luke) Gardner, Brenda ( Harvey ) and Ena (Garry); four grandchildren Dillon, Shanna, Kyla and Alexis; six sisters; one brother and a large circle of other family and friends. The family received visitors at the Anglican Church on Tuesday and Wednesday from where the funeral service took place on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Norman Cutler officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.

SMITH, CHARLES PERCY
Mary's Harbour
Aug. 27, 1928 - Feb. 12, 2004

Passed away on Feb. 12, 2004 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. He was in his 75th year. He leaves to mourn children Emma (Ford) Rumbolt, Ruby (Otto) Whalen, Olive (Gilbert) Clarke, Bernice ( Roy ) Spearing, Raymond (Daphne) Smith, Roy Smith, Theresa (Paul) Russell, Joyce (Carl) Bradley, Charles (Nanette) Smith and Wayne (Wilma) Smith; 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Faye; nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of friends. He was predeceased by his wife Eunice, mother Susanna, father Esau and brothers Benjamin, James and Paul. The funeral service was held Sunday, Feb. 15 with Rev. Graham Hill officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Mary's Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

LODER, HARVEY
Cook's Harbour
May 18, 1930 - Feb. 13, 2004

Passed away at Curtis Memorial Hospital on Feb. 13, 2004 with his family by his side. He was in his 73rd year. Leaving to mourn wife Dora; daughters Marilyn (Claude Pitre) and Ida (Fred) Berry; brother-in-law Wilfred (Gladys) Elliott; sisters-in-law Phyllis and Violet Loder, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation took place at the United Church in Cook's Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15 with Rev. Lorne Bungay officiating. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery in Cook's Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

TOOPE, EVELYN
Pond Cove

Passed peacefully away at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Feb. 13, 2004, age 82 years. She leaves to mourn daughters Cecilia (Morgan) and Virginia (Baxter) of Pond Cove; sons Ronald (Phyllis) of Pigeon Cove, Stanley (Kaye), Randall (Peggy) and Graydon (Ivy) of Pond Cove, Gary (Linda) and Clyde (Elizabeth) of Devon, Alberta, and Alfred (Linda) of St. Barbe; grandchildren Evelyn (James), Tanya (Jade), Spartius (Amanda), Tara (Gary), Gail (Todd), Nicole (Marty), Tristan, Tyler, Natalie (Pete), Lynette, Louis, Chad (Chantal), Gary (Kim), Meryll, Michael and Torin; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother Stanley (the late Dorcas) and Clyde (Susan); sister Virginia (the late Leonard). She was predeceased by her loving husband William in 2003, sister Una (John) and brother Garfield (Maggie). Visitation took place at Church of the Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16 with Rev. John Hounsell-Drover officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

LETTO, VIOLET
L'Anse au Clair

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Violet Letto of L'Anse au Clair announce her passing at the Long Term Care Unit in Forteau on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004. She was in her 85th year. Leaving to treasure her memories are sons Clarence (Belinda), Norman (Gloria), Derrick (Melinda) and Lester (Violet); daughters Helen Chubbs (Russell) and Patsy (Percival); 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; brothers Solomon and William Butt; sister Jane Dicker, as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Alex, grandchildren Jennifer May and Perry, brother Jean, and sisters Wilomena and Bertha. The family received visitors at the Anglican Church on Monday and Tuesday from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18 with Rev. Roberta Woodman officiating assisted by Rev. Norman Cutler. Interment followed in the church cemetery in L'Anse au Clair. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website at www.fillatre.ca. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.

HANCOCK, ISHMAEL
Roddickton

Passed peacefully away at John M. Gray Centre on Feb. 16, 2004. He was in his 90th year. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18 with Pastor Simms officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, Roddickton, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

HOUSE, JAMES WILLIAM
Hawkes Bay
Oct. 4, 1917-Feb. 26, 2004

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James William House announce his passing on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004 at his family residence in his 86th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving daughters Lillian Noseworthy and Ruby (Jim) Crewe, both of Hawkes Bay; special granddaughter Jennifer Crewe of St. John's; grandchildren Sherri (Gordon) Lowe of Hawkes Bay, Wendi (Barry) House of Alberta and John Noseworthy of Hawkes Bay; great-grandchildren Jillian and Caitlin Lowe, and Megan and Melanie House; also a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Hilda in 1990. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Bellburns from where the funeral service took place on Sunday, Feb. 29 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Pratt officiating. Interment followed at the family plot. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.

McLEAN, NELSON
Eddies Cove West

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nelson McLean announce his passing on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders in his 80th year. He leaves to mourn daughter Jane; son Robert (Alma) of Eddies Cove; grandchildren Calletta, Brittany, Bobby, Heather (Tom), Nancy (Phillip) and Gary (Flora); great-grandchildren Danita, Danielle, Damien, Lamonte, Shantelle, Liberty, Graydon and Rebecca; sisters Audrey (Anthony) Parrill, Rita (Ivan) Parrill of Pines Cove and Mariah Hughes of Green Island Brook, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Ellen in 1999, grandson Nelson Jr. in 2001, brothers John and Tom McLean, and stepsister Eliza White. The family received friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home in Port au Choix. The funeral service took place on Tuesday, March 2 at 2 p.m. from St. Thomas Beckett Anglican Church in Port au Choix with Capt. Jason Haggstrom officiating. Interment followed at the Doctors Brook cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

BARNEY, GRETA
L'Anse au Loup

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Greta Barney announce her passing at Labrador South Health Centre on Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004. She was in her 54th year. Leaving to mourn with treasured memories children Cordell (Roslyn), Tanya (Freeman) and Carla; grandchildren Daniel, Marissa and Naomi; sisters Ella, Georgina, Ruby, Maria and Emily; brothers Clifford, twin brother Garfield and Hedley, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her son Keith on March 11, 1988 and husband Leonard on April 1, 2002. Visitation was held at L'Anse au Loup Gospel Hall on Sunday evening and Monday from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, March 2 at 2 p.m. with Mr. Eric Fowler, Mr. Francis Barney and Mr. Brian Joyce officiating. Interment followed at the Gospel Hall Cemetery . As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.
