BARNEY, Laura
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Laura Barney of L'Anse au Loup, NL, announce her passing on Dec. 12, 2011 at the Palliative Care Unit in Forteau, at the age of 83 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories children Phyllis (Dennis) Thomas, Allie (Libby), Edward (Thelma), Francis (Priscilla), Rhoda (Elvis) Linstead, Camille (Shirley), and Antionette (Bert) Cabot; grandchildren Marvin, Angela, Merlin, Keela, Nathan, Trevor, Kinza, Karen, Murray, Kimberly, Derek, Jenna, Conrad, Jason, Nekita, Natalya and Nicola; great-grandchildren Damien, Brady, Corey, Zoey, Jimmy, Mia, Joshua, Donavan, Alexis, Zachary, Mercedes, William, Shaylynn, Keindra, Kennedi, Brendon, and Abegail; two sisters Hazel Letto and Bertha Normore, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Barney, parents Francis and Mary Barney, siblings Elsie Trimm, Mildred Ryland, Harold Barney and Wilfred Barney. Visitation took place at the L'Anse au Loup Gospel Hall on Monday, from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, at 2 p.m. with Edward Barney and Francis Barney officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in L'Anse au Loup. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home in L'Anse au Loup.

CHATELET, Catherine Mary
Passed peacefully away on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, Catherine Mary Chatelet (Nee Kennedy) March 19 - Dec. 31, 2011 of Hallandale Beach, Florida, (formerly of Winterhouse Brook, Bonne Bay, NL), in her 82nd year. She leaves to mourn her stepbrother James (Betty) Brake, Curling; and sister-in-law Jeanette Kennedy, Norris Point. She will also be sadly missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Marcel Chatelet, parents Richard and Drucilla Kennedy, brothers John and Anthony Kennedy, sister and brother-in-law Margaret and George Jones, nephews Douglas and Kevin Jones and baby niece Sheila Jones. Special thanks to the staff at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, 4th Floor and Palliative Care Unit and special friend Lynn Kulchyski. Cremation has taken place at Catherine’s request. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. CURTIS, Lloyd Bennett
Passed away suddenly at his private residence in St. Luniare-Griquet on Dec. 28, 2011, Mr. Lloyd Bennett Curtis in his 74th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Lucy; three sons Paul (Cleo), Ivan (Bonnie), and Austin (Laurie); two daughters Brenda (Colin) and Caroline (Sean); grandchildren Jeffrey, Micheal, Clarissa, Kiana, Ayden, Isaac, Jia-Li, Davian, Noah, and Rachel; brothers Raymond and Ernest; and adopted sister Goldie White. He was predeceased by his parents Llewelyn and Emmie Curtis, brothers Wilbert and Malcolm, and sister Joyce. Visitation was held at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle Church in St. Lunaire-Griquet, followed by the funeral service on Saturday, Dec. 31 with Pastor H. Primmer and Pastors Jeremy and Tara Foss officiating. Burial took place at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

DAWE, Martha G.
Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Dec. 22, 2011, Martha G. Dawe of Main Brook, NL, in her 97th year. Leaving to mourn daughters Sadie Tapp and Lillian Cooper (Rex); granddaughter Kelly Cooper-Beach (Jamie); grandson Duke Cooper (Denise); great-granddaughter Janna Beach; sister Selma Hancock; and sister-in-law Stella Dawe. She is predeceased by her loving husband Harvey and son-in-law Robert Tapp. She rested at the Anglican Church, Main Brook from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, Dec. 27 with Rev. Harold Harvey and Audrey Coates officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

DOBBIN, Martha
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Martha Dobbin of Port au Choix, NL, announce her passing on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 68 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband, Finton; children Jacqualine (Mario), Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Michael, Robert (Brenda), Daisy (Glen), Port au Choix, and Darren (Lisa), Yellowknife, North West Territories; grandchildren Scott, John, Adam, Sarah, Joseph, Kevin, Taylor, Riley, Aimee, Amber and Ashton; siblings Kevin, Leo, Selina, Annette, Clarice, Francis, Alma, Joseph, Ann, Margaret, Peter, Dorothy and Rosemary; mother-in-law Maude Dobbin; sisters-in-law Stella, Adeliah, Phyllis and Linda; brothers-in-law Jerome, Albert, Wayne, James, Calvin and Clifford; a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Eva Kennedy, father-in-law Joseph Dobbin, brothers and sisters Clifford, Milliage, Ina and Loretta, and brother-in-law Thomas. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home in Port au Choix on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The funeral service took place on Monday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Lee Lainey officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website at www.fillatre.ca     Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

DREDGE, Seward
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Seward Dredge of Black Duck Cove, NL, announce his passing on Monday, Dec.19, 2011 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders, Mr. Seward Dredge in his 72nd year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Elizabeth; children Bruce (Connie), Seward Jr., Simon (Michelle), and Elaine (Monty); grandchildren Justin, Tyler, Latisha, and Montgomery; brothers Isaac (Edith), Edward (Blanch), and Jacob (Ruby); sisters Hazel (Gordon), and Martha Jane (Albert), Damien and a large circle of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Minnie and Jacob, mother-in-law Annie and father-in-law Douglas. Visitation was held at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22 with Rev. Harold Harvey and Matt Osbourne officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Black Duck Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton Lee Nippard, funeral director. He was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and will be greatly missed. A special thanks to everyone who helped his family through this sad and difficult time.

LAING, Lillian Pearl
Lillian Pearl Laing (nee Nicholls)
Norris Point (War Bride of the Lizard, Corwall, England) Nov. 22, 1925 - Dec. 26, 2011. Pearl passed away at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in Norris Point on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011 after bravely fighting a short illness. Left to mourn are her loving children Maureen (Doug) House of Bellburns, Terry (Frances) of Curling, Corner Brook, Christine (Tom) Major of Pasadena, Eddy (Della) of Rocky Harbour, Bryant (Colleen) of Cow Head, Darlene (Geoff) Hancock of Beamsville, Ontario, and Marlene (Bob) Burden of Pasadena; son-in-law Neil (Barb) Hynes; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Ada Samms of Norris Point, Maude Boone of Corner Brook and Joan (Nicholls) Smith, and nephews Stephen and Leslie Nicholls and families in Whitstable Kent, England as well as cousins in Cornwall, London and the Isle of Man, UK. Long time neighbours and friends Jean and Maurice Knott, Aunt Lizzie Mudge, Lucy Hillier, Gussie and Jenny Mudge and Nancy and Hollis Howell. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph James Curling Laing, daughter Patricia, parents Dundonald and Dorothy Nicholls, brothers Edwin and Edgar Nicholls. Pearl arrived in Norris Point as a War bride on Feb. 27, 1946. she left England on Jan. 26, 1946 with her two-year-old daughter and husband and travelled by ship in a storm and eventually arrived in Lomond where they had to stay with relatives for the Habour to freeze over before coming to Norris Point on horse and sleigh exactly one month later to be greeted by a waving Aunt Nellie Mudge. She made many friends in many communities along the Northern Peninsula and loved to go to a time and was very happy in beautiful Bonne Bay. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Norris Point on Wednesday from where the funeral service took place on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Charlene Laing officiating. Interment followed at the family plot. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home and Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake. Passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2011 at the John M. Gray Centre, St. Anthony, Ms. Alma McLean of Green Island Cove, NL, in her 92nd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories sister-in-law Rosie McLean; nieces Margaret (Nelson) and family, Alma (Gerald) and family, Sarah (Melvin) and family, Eliza (Edmund) and family, Barbara (Harris) and family, Mona (Stanley) and family; nephew Roland (Ivy) and family; cousins Willie (Thelma) Coates, Virtue (Douglas) Parrill, George W. White, Rita Coles, Olga Chambers, Olive Samson, Gideon (Maria) White, Tamsie (Levi) Normore, Mabel Genge, Susie Genge, Rita Ivany, and Audrey Parrill. She was predeceased by her parents Sarah and Andrew McLean, sister Miriam Coles, brothers Benjamin McLean, George McLean, Charlie McLean, and Anthony McLean, nephew Randy Way, brother-in-law Roland Coles and nephew-in-law Kirby Coles. Visitation was held at the St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sandy Cove followed by the funeral service on Saturday, Dec. 17. Burial followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Green Island Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

PEYTON - CARTER, Minnie
Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Dec. 27, 2011, Mrs. Minnie Peyton-Carter of Great Brehat, NL, in her 72nd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories husband Charles; daughters Judy Best (Pearce Hedderson), and Wanda (Glossen) Hedderson; step-children Ethel (Fred) Burden, Alvin (Goldie) Peyton, Roy (Sharon) Peyton, Doreen (Jim) McDougale, Netta (Joe) Quinlin, and Inga Smith (Morris King); grandchildren Valerie (Jason) Warford, Tara (Dwayne) King, Mike (Tracey) Best, Jason Best, Daryl Best, and Jordan Best (Jodi); seven great-grandchildren; sisters Elizabeth (Ron) Earle, and Rita (Wilson) Fillier. She is predeceased by her parents William and Bessie Hillier, first husband John Peyton, and sister Annie Hillier. Visitation was held at the Central United Church, followed by the funeral service on Friday, Dec. 30 with Majors Dinzel and Kathlen Baggs officiating. Burial took place at the new Salvation Army Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

RUMBOLT, Stacy
Born: April 11th, 1986
Passed on: December 20th, 2011
Passed suddenly away on Dec. 20, 2011, Stacy Nadine Rumbolt at the age of 25 years. Ms. Rumbolt was employed by Custom Cabinets in St. John's, NL and was from Mary's Harbour, Labrador. She leaves to mourn her mother, Elaine Rumbolt and father, Ralph Rumbolt; brother, Matthew Rumbolt. Also leaving to mourn are her grandparents, Bruce and Linda Rumbolt, her many aunts, uncles, cousins and a circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Gail MacDonald conducted funeral services at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Mary's Harbour on Dec. 24, 2011 with interment at the St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Homes, Grand Falls-Windsor and Fillatre's Funeral Home, Lanse Au Loup, Labrador. WELLS, Lydia
Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony on Dec. 23, 2011, Mrs. Lydia Wells of Brig Bay, NL, in her 72nd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories daughter Vera (Norman); granddaughter Renotta Myra (Neil), extended family Myra (Gerald), Fabian (Colleen), Anisha and Tyler, and Shannon (Kimberly), the Wells, Samson, Applin, and Spingle families. She was predeceased by her husband William, mother Harriett Spingle, brothers Robert, William, James, Peter, Donald, sisters Cora and Elsie. Visitation was held at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral service was held on Monday, Dec. 26 at 11a.m. with Rev. Harold Harvey and Lay Reader Matt Osbourne officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
