Forrester’s Point
Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Dec. 2, 2008, Garfield Caines, age 85 years. Leaving to mourn five daughters Dorcas Mitchelmore, Elizabeth (George) Baines, Mary Ann (Edmund) Gibbons, Levinia Fillatre and Myrtle (Wade) Guinchard; two sons Louis (Jane) Caines, and Walter (Mariah) Caines; grandchildren Betty, Dulcie, Watson, Jarvis, Harold, Samuel, Trudy, Jade, Bradley, Renita, David, Ashley, Jilda, Paula and Jeremy; great-grandchildren Dominique, Keegan, Kiara, Jade, Ariana, Lauren, Kindra and Kenisha, and special friend Cecelia Galliott. He was predeceased by wife Jenny Keziah, son-in-law Churchill Mitchelmore and Kerry Fillatre, sister Elizabeth Bailey and brothers Isaac, Walter, Jacob, and Henry John. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Forrester’s Point from where the funeral service was held on Friday, Dec. 5, with Rev. Kris Gosse and Rev. Canon Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton.

CHAMBERS, MITCH
Spruce Cove, Alberta
(formerly of Bear Cove)

Passed away tragically on Dec. 7, 2008, Mitch Chambers at the age of 23. Mitch leaves to mourn his parents Gorvin and Debbie; brother Ryan; grandparrents Alph and Louria Chislett, Henry and Barbara Chambers; aunts and uncles Anita (Claude) and family, Alph Jr. (Cheryl) and family, Todd, (Tanya) and family, Pam (Barry) and family, Judy (Monty) and family, Darlene, Earl and family, and Henry Jr.,(Tanya) and family; special friends Alvin, Mary and family and a large number of other relatives and friends. The funeral took place in Bear Cove from the St. Boniface Anglican Church at 2 p.m. on Tuesday Dec. 16, with Rev. Diane Smith and Rev. Canon Jean Brenton-Hickman officating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

FOWLER, "Ted" Edward Wilson
Passed away peacefully on Dec. 11, 2008 at Belleville General Hospital at the age of 75 years. Beloved husband of Barbara, dear father of Edward Wayne and his wife Pat, Donna Davies and her husband Rick, David and his wife Janet and Shannon Mclean and her husband Gordon, cherished poppy of six grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his siblings and their families. The memorial service was held at Weaver Family Funeral Home, 29 Bay St., Trenton, Ontario on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 with Pastor John King officiating. The memorial service back home in St. Anthony, Newfoundland to be announced in the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Society would be appreciated. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Louise Beaudoin announce her passing on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 79 years. She leaves to mourn her daughter Nora (Pius) Lavers of Castor River South; grandchildren Damoes (Dinnie) wife (Martiese); Chad (Angelene) of Alberta, Peter Jr. (Colleen) of Grand Falls, Allan (Sueann) of St. Johns, Jason (Jen) of Oshawa, Ontario; great- grandchildren Keela, Zoe, Ryan, Joshua, Zachary, Jaycee, Michael, and Kohl; sisters Dorothy, Evelyn, Eudora, Geraldine, Iona, and Rowena; brothers, Melvin, Dorman, and Marcel; son-in-law Peter Anstey of Grand Falls, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond, daughter Laverne, son Damos, brothers Sidney, Bryant, Clyde, Cecil, and Austin. The family received friends at our Lady of Angels Roman Catholic Church in Castor River South on Saturday and Sunday from where funeral service took place on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Roger officiating. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Bartlett’s Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Port au Choix.

DAWE, STANLEY ELGIN
Raleigh

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Dec. 13, 2008. Stanley Dawe, age 79 years. Leaving to mourn wife Melina; children Deon (Sandra), Wilfred (Wavey), Alsdair (April), Andy (Rochelle) and Lorna, grandchildren Lacey, Jonathan, Rhonda (Andy), Ryan, Matthew, Sarah, Vanessa (Derrek), Dana (Michelle), Alexander and Bobbi (Calvin). Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Raleigh, from where the funeral service was held at on Wed. Dec. 17, with Rev. Graham officiating, interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

GENGE, Israel "Flick" Thomas
Flowers Cove

Passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2008 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 69 years. Beloved husband of Clara, dear father of Audrey and Ashley, cherished pop of Clinton and Jesse Genge. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The funeral service was held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Flowers Cove on Dec. 23, 2008. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

WILSON/ MOORES, JACOB
Sept. 26, 1924 - Dec. 21, 2008

With heavy hearts the family of the late Jacob Wilson Moores announces his passing at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 at the age of 84 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Mary of 53 years; his children Ethel (Brad) of Pasadena, Alma of Halifax, Bruce of Flowers Cove, Kay (Dennis) of Green Island Cove, Arlene (Henry) of Cupids, Harris (Tish) of Paradise, Randy (Ruby) of Flowers Cove, and Dennis (Tracey) of Ottawa; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; Gregory, Krista, Sara, Glenda, Maunda, Dennis, Robyn, Shannon, Victoria, Matthew, Kayleigh, Alyson, Mitchell, Jacob and Kayliee; mother-in-law Alma Diamond, along with a large number of extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father Archibald and Ethel Moores, adopted parents John and Rachel Rose, brothers Marmaduke and Albert Edwin Moores and father-in-law George W. Diamond. Wilson, fondly known as Wils, was a charter member of Flowers Cove Lions Club and active member of his church and community. He will be ever remembered for his gentle ways and his wonderful sense of humour. He loved his family, friends, Toronto Maple Leafs and berry-picking in that order. The funeral took place at the United Church in Flowers Cove on Wednesday, Dec. 24 with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery in Flowers Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

COLES, Kirby
Sandy Cove

Passed away at the Straits of Belle Isle Health Clinic on Dec. 22, 2008. Kirby Coles, age 67 years. Leaving to mourn wife Sarah; sisters Vernita (Coy and family), and Clemintina (Jim and family); brothers Stedman (Beulah and family), Gerald (Alma and family), and Winston (Eileen and family); brothers-in-law Kenneth Way and family, and Roland Coles (Ivy and family); sisters-in-law Marg (Nelson and family), Alma (Gerald and family), Eva (Garf and family), Eliza (Edmund and family), Barbara (Harn’s and family), Mona (Stan and family), and Melvin and family; special friends uncle Stanley (Rosalind), Harrison White, Albert Coles, and Anthony White Jr. and special godchild Gillian Diamond. He was predeceased by mother Edna, father Leslie, sisters Millie, Thamsie and Judy, mother-in-law Miriam Coles, father-in-law Roland Coles Sr., sister-in-law Dora Way and nephew Randy Way. Visitation was held at St. Thomas’ Church in Sandy Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, with Rev. Smith officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton.

PATEY, Roston
River of Ponds

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roston Patey announces his passing Monday Dec. 22 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 81 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Grace; children Carl of Ontario, Wilfred (Vera), and Loman (Kathleen) of River of Ponds, Mae (Wade) Alley of St. Davids, Roy (Muriel), and Melvin of River of Ponds, Mildred (David) Hutchings of Cow Head, Marina (Eugene) Caines of Port Saunders, Daphne (Vincent) Gouin of Ontario, 26 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Isaac and Effie Patey, brother Gardiner and sister Dorothy. The family received friends at St. Peters Anglican Church in River of Ponds on Tuesday from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday at 1 p.m.with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in River of Ponds. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Port au Choix.

CHUBBS, LINDA
L’Anse au Clair

It was with great sadness that the family of the late Linda Chubbs announce her passing at Labrador South Health Centre in Forteau on Dec. 23, 2008 at the age of 52 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories her husband Winston; sons Brodrick (Tara), Darren (Amanda), Darcey (Nadia), and Gregory (Catherine); two grandchildren Adam and Alex; mother Dora Barney; sisters Peggy, Pansy, Beulah, and Yvonne; brothers Wayne and Rodney, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father William Barney. Visitors were received at the Anglican Church in L’Anse au Clair on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from where the funeral service took place on Friday, Dec. 26, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Marlaine Leggo officiating, assisted by Rev. Norman Cutler. Interment followed at the church cemetery in L’Anse au Clair. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, in L’Anse au Loup.

HANCOCK, FORD WILLIAM
Roddickton

Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Dec. 26, 2008, Ford Hancock, age 55 years. Leaving to mourn partner Patsy Wilcox; mother Marie Hancock of Roddickton; brothers Gordon (Marilyn) of Brampton, Ontario, Leander (Diane) of Barrie, Ontario, Kevin of Brampton, Ontario, and Shawn of Roddickton; sisters Bessie (Edmund) Pilgrim of Main Brook, Shirley (Gary) Pilgrim of Main Brook, Darlene Hancock of Brampton, Ontario, Hilda Gillard of Mount Pearl, Donna (Craig) Canning of Roddickton, and Michelle (Ross) of Roddickton. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church Roddickton from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday Dec. 28, 2008 with Rev. Rene Cassell officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay funeral director.

CAINES, VINCENT
Bartlett’s Harbour

It was with great sadness that the family of the late Vincent Caines announce his passing at his family residence in St. John’s on Dec. 27, 2008 at the age of 46 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories brothers Brendan (Pearl), Lemore (Margaret), and Randell (Marlene); sisters Maude (Cyril), Hazel (Wallace), and Isabell. He was predeceased by parents Luke and Evangeline, brothers Luke and baby Clifford and a large circle of relatives and friends, the family received friends at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Bartlett’s Harbour from where funeral service took place on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Roger officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Port au Choix.

CHAMBERS, Allan
Blue Cove

Passed away on Dec. 28, 2008, Allan Chambers age 46 years. Leaving to mourn wife Nicole; son Ashton; mother Margaret Chambers; brothers Whyman, David, and Walter and families; sisters Una Genge, Verna Bugden, and Wanda Whalen and families; parents-in-law Gervase and Edna Cunard; grandmother-in-law Judy Cunard; sisters-in-law Wendy Genge, and Sophia Chambers and families. He was predeceased by father Garfield Chambers Sr.; brothers Calvin and Donald Chambers. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Plum Point, from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony and Roddickton. Lee Nippard, funeral director.

COLBOURNE, LUCINDA (LUCY)
St. Anthony

Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre on Dec. 29, 2008. Lucy Colbourne (Blake) of St. Anthony, age 93 years. Leaving to mourn her children Dorothy (Abraham), Velma (Douglas), Hazel (Horace), Ralph (Laverne) and Roy (Judy); 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Everett (Jessie), Wilson, and Grenfell (Juanita); sister in-law Mary Ann Blake and special sister-in-law Ethel Bessey, with whom she lived with for the last 10 years, as well as a number of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009 at the United Church in St. Anthony with Rev. McGonigle officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.
