Plum Point

Passed away on Dec. 2, 2007, Roy Gibbons of Plum Point, age 77 years. Leaving to mourn wife Gladys; children Edith (Leslie), Bill (Daisy), Lesley (Bob), Virginia (Jim), Vony (Enos), Ivy (Graydon), Dorcas and Roy (Eliza); grandchildren Alex, Devon, Gina (Russ), Gladys (Gary), Ian, Jamie, James, Jessica, Loretta, Louis, Lynette, Melanie and Robert; great-grandchildren Aiden, Ashton and Hannah; sister Jane Toope; sisters-in-law Judy Gibbons and Virginia Gibbons. He was predeceased by son Louis and grandson Stefan Gibbons. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Plum Point from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6 with Rev. Gosse officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard and Levinia Caines Fillatre, funeral directors.

MANUEL, ALLAN GEORGE
Griquet

Passed way on Dec. 2, 2007, Allan Manuel of Griquet, age 73 years. Leaving to mourn wife Beatrice; sons Bobby (Marlene Matchim) and Billy (Taralyn); daughters Bonnie (Androcles Hodge) and Beverly (Michael Humby); son-in-law Roy Quinlan; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by daughter Betty Quinlan. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Griquet from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5 with Rev. Gosse officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, Roddickton and St. Anthony, Levinia Caines Fillatre, funeral director.

SYMMONDS, LAWRENCE WILLIAM
Conche

Passed peacefully away on Dec. 6, 2007, Lawrence Symmonds of Conche, age 85 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 58 years Mary (Hunt) Symmonds; sons Wilfred of Vancouver, British Columbia, Tom (Rose) of Fort McMurray, Alberta and Ron (Loretta) of Conche; daughters Nellie (Gerald) of Croque, Alice (Tony), Bridge (Gary), Angela (Gerard) and Joan of Conche and Doreen of Huston; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Margaret of St. John’s; brother-in-law and great friend Gerald Fitzgerald of Conche; sister-in-law Elizabeth Symmonds of St. Anthony, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by son Gerard and grandchild Andrew, parents William and Alice, brothers Mike, Pete and Jack, sisters Bride and Nellie. Visitation took place at Sacred Heart Church in Conche from where the funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 10 with Fr. Varghese officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

BUDDEN, LLOYD KEVIN
Roddickton

Passed away in Thunder Bay, Ontario on Dec. 6, 2007, Lloyd Budden of Roddickton, age 51 years. Leaving to mourn son Daniel; daughters Melissa, Kiley and Suszanne; mother Ruby Budden (Loder); stepfather Gordon Loder; sisters Joyce (Lewis), Marie (Lemuel), Margaret (Isaac), Joan (Garland), Eileen (Kerkin), Brenda (David) and Shawna (Jamie); brothers Wilson (Marjorie), Roger (Lisa), Alonzo (Trudy) and Bobby (Janet), as well as a circle of other family and friends. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11 with Pastor Grimes officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

BUTT, WILLIAM
Pinware

It is with great sadness that the family of the late William Butt, announce his passing at the Long Term Care Unit in Forteau on Dec. 8, 2007 at the age of 66 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories sons Mario (Lorenda), Clayton (Colleen) and Llyal; daughters Clare (Alex), Patsy (Boyd), Darlene (Danny), Leona (Mitch) and Rene; 14 grandchildren; three brothers; five sisters, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Eben and Maud Butt and brothers Donald and Clifford. Visitation took place at the Community Centre in Pinware on Sunday and Monday from where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dean Sellars officiating. Interment followed in the United Church Cemetery in Pinware. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Homes Ltd., L’Anse au Loup.

WISEMAN, EDWARD PATRICK
Croque

It is with great sadness that the families of the late Edward Patrick (Ned) Wiseman, formerly of Croque, announces his passing at his daughter’s (Irene) residence in Springdale on Dec. 12, 2007 at the age of 92 years. Left with fond and loving Edward Wiseman retired from fishing. He was predeceased by his mother and father, wife Theresa, brother Joe and sister Joan Porter. Left with fond and loving memories are his four sons Edward Jr. of Calgary, Patrick of Croque, Dave (Danita) of Espanola, Ontario and Robert (Tracy) of Marystown; five daughters Lucy Byrne (Vincent) and Gertie Hunt (Francis) of Conche, Philomena Shelley (Stephen) of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Irene Rose (John) of Springdale and Nellie O’Neill (the late Bill) of St. John’s. Also leaving to mourn sister Mary Joy of Croque; sister-in-law Edna Wiseman of Roddickton; 35 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17 at Sacred Heart Parish in Conche with Fr. Devas Vargees officiating. Interment followed at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Conche. Pallbearers were sons Patrick and Robert, grandson Leonard Wiseman, nephews Tom Wiseman and Don Wiseman, and Gerard Joy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes of Springdale.

HANCOCK, VERBENA TELSIE
Roddickton

Passed away on Dec. 15, 2007, Verbena Hancock of Roddickton, age 98 years. Leaving to mourn daughter Mae (Reuben) Pittman of Roddickton and Wilmore (Laura) Hancock of Englee; son-in-law Walter Fowler of Roddickton; one half-brother Stanley (Martha) Hancock of Laurenceton; four half-sisters Hazel Brenton, Fannie Simms and Rowena (Pearce) Hopkins, all of Englee and Irene (Wilfred) Jacobs of South Brook; 36 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 33 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18 with Rev. Cassell officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

O’DELL, JOHN
West St. Modeste

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John O’Dell announces his sudden passing at the family residence in West St. Modeste on Dec. 16, 2007 at the age of 66 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories wife Josephine; children Lucy (Thomas), Marilyn (Chris), Giles (Lisa), Angela (Craig), Zita (Curtis), Johnny (Sherri), Michael (Ruth Ann) and Glen (Terri); 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Ronald and Katherine O’Dell and daughter Selina. Visitation took place at Our Lady of Labrador Church in West St. Modeste on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21 with Fr. Tim Moriarity officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Labrador Church Cemetery in Pinware. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Homes Ltd., L’Anse au Loup.

Flowers Cove

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alma Allingham (March 22, 1928 – Dec. 20, 2007) announces her passing on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 79 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories daughter Moreen; sons Graham and Terry (Kitty); daughter-in-law Beatrice; grandchildren Michelle, Sonya, Sheila, Todd, Tyson and Ashley; great-grandchildren Tyra, Jaron, Bradon and Colbe; sister Annie Rose and brother Norman Carnell (Margaret), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband David, daughter Pearl, son Temple, brother Woodrow Carnell, sister Mae Morgan and her parents John and Pearl Carnell. Visitation took place at the United Church in Flowers Cove on Thursday and Friday from where the funeral service was held on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 3:30 p.m. with Ms. Joan Brinston, LPM officiating. Interment followed at the United Cemetery in Flowers Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Savage Cove

Passed away on Dec. 21, 2007, Maxwell Coles, age 81 years. Leaving to mourn wife Gladys; son Kevin; son-in-law Maitland; Kelly and Sean, Dean (Patsy), Samanda (Gorvan), Dwayne, Salome, Leanne and Trav, George Henry (Emma), Gere, Brian Heather) and Allie and Hilary. He was predeceased by daughter Marilyn. Visitation took place at St. Mark’s Anglican Church from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23 with Rev. W.G. Colbourne officiating. Passed away on Dec. 21, 2007, Albert Francis Spearing, age 59. Leaving to mourn children: Glenda (Jim) Ward, Shawn Darlene), Jason (Lori), Corina (Leon Rumbolt), Jonathon, Christopher and Tiffany; grandchildren: Aaron, Tyler, Moriah, Danielle, Jamie, Joey, Charlotte, Chelsey-Lee, Nicholas, Zoe and Miranda; father James Spearing; sisters and brothers Georgina (Lloyd) Lunnen, Lucy Lunnen, Marjorie (Lloyd) Davis, Julie (Val) Ritch, Steve (Barbara), Roy (Bernice) and Melvin Miriam); uncles Alfred and Albert; aunt Margorie Jones and aunt Georgina Wheeler, and a large circle of other family and friends. Passed away on Dec. 21, 2007, Miriam Spearing, age 55. Passed away on Dec. 22, 2007, Sarah Evans, age 96 years. Leaving to mourn children Nellie Taylor and William (Keziah) of Raleigh, Alfred (Frances) of St. Anthony, Violet Tucker (Karl) of Pasadena, Leonora Warren of Brantford, Ontario, Debbie Wheeler (Brien) of Penetanguishene, Ontario, Faye Hiscock (Cecil) of Corner Brook, and Gilbert (Joyce) of Nunavut; brother Fred Richards (Keziah) of St. Carol’s; 39 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; eight great-greatgrandchildren, and a circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Lewis; two sons-in-law Cecil Taylor and Ford Warren; two sisters Emma Greenham and Martha Compton; two brothers Jim and Harvey Richards; parents Mary Ann and Abraham Richards; two grandsons Robert Taylor and David Tucker. Passed away on Dec. 23, 2007, Edward Brown, age 78 years. Left with fond and loving memories are special nephew Clyde Brown (Gloria), special grand-niece Tara Brown; special grand-nephew Tyler Brown; brother Henry Brown (Hazel); sisters Moram Diamond, Rita Pynn, and a large family of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Cook’s Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26 with the very Rev. Lorne Gosse officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Mary Ann Baines announces her passing on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 76 years. She leaves to mourn four daughters Una (Russell) Hynes of Port au Choix, Phyllis (Tom) Tucker of Reef’s Harbour, Juanita (Seymore) Hynes of Fort McMurray and Angeline (Willis) Locke of Alberta; four sons Wilfred (Annette) Baines of Shoal Cove, Derrick (Holly) of Toronto, and Terrance and Fabian of Alberta; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Ida Coombs and Christiana Coombs of Shoal Cove, Lillian Beaudoin of Reef’s Harbour, and Angeline Hynes of St. John’s; brother Thomas Applin of Wabush and very special friend Sarah Applin of Shoal Cove. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas, parents Timothy and Elizabeth Applin, sons Thomas and James. Visitation took place on Saturday and Sunday at St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church in Reef’s Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31 with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment followed in the Anglican Cemetery, French Cove. Donations and flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

SEXTON, PHILIP EDWARD
Goose Cove

Passed away on Dec. 31, 2007, Philip Sexton, age 74 years. Leaving to mourn wife Jenny; sons Dean (Jill) and Mike (Gill); daughters Regina (Barry), Marie (Jerome), Rita (Eugene), Madonna (Shawn) and Margaret (Tony); grandchildren Carina (Luke), Brent (Pamela), Steven (Chrissy), Sam (Joanne), Dean, Christopher, Adam, Gregory, Julie, Rebecca, Alicia and Mark; great-grandchildren Noah and Jack. He was predeceased by sister Marie, brother Joseph and parents Irene and Patrick. Visitation took place at K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral mass was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Goose Cove with Fr. Edmund Camacho officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
