St. Anthony

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital on Dec. 1, 2004. He was in his 49th year. Leaving to mourn one brother Keith of St. Anthony and a number of other relatives and friends. Visitation was held at the funeral home on West Street, St. Anthony. The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3 at St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

MYERS, JOHN - Bartlett's Harbour
It is with great sadness that the family of John Myers announce his passing in Brampton, Ontario on Dec. 2, 2004 in his 49th year. He leaves to mourn wife Glenda; daughter Keri (Darrell); sisters Gertrude (Fred) Maynard of Rocky Harbour and Catherine (Karl) Myers-Hickey of Brampton; brothers, twin brother Ron (Elva) of Castor River North, William (Elaine) of Bartlett's Harbour, Francis (Dora) of Castor River North, Steve (Karen), Hugh (Carolyn), Gord (Denise), Gerard (Darlene), Guy (Paula), Cornelius (Jennifer) and Carl (Susan), all of Brampton, and Mickey; in-laws Clyde and Eliza, Wavey and family, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by son Kent, parents Gus and Annie and brothr-in-law Gilbert Tucker. Visitation took place at Ward Funeral Home in Brampton and at Sacred Heart Church in Bartlett's Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8 with Fr. POWER, MAXWELL FREDERICK - Corner Brook
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maxwell Frederick Power announce his passing after a short, but courageous fight with cancer on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 57 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Rose; son Cory (Tara); daughter Danica (Tim); his precious granddaughter "Poppy's girl" Brianna; brothers Don (Judy), Glen (Jill), Wally (Judy), Colin, Tom (Phyllis), Tony (Susan) and Darryl (Lori); sisters Doreen (Ray) Wall, Jean (Dave) Smith, Brenda (Frank) Layden, Phyllis (Jerry) Rankin, Irene (Gary) Bailey and Debbie (Blaine) Rideout; mother-in-law Myrtle Rumbolt; brothers-in-law Eugene (Wanda) Rumbolt, Wade Rumbolt and Maurice (Michelle) Rumbolt; sisters-in-law June (George) Krueger and Myra (Chris) Lush, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. COMPTON, JULIA
Passed peacefully away at White Bay Central Health Centre in Roddickton on Dec. 5, 2004. She was in her 88th year. She leaves to mourn her one son Norman (Anne); three grandchildren Pauline, Deon and Byron; three great-grandchildren Andrea, Antonio and Alex, as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. Visitation took place at the Salvation Army Church in Englee from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec 8 with Capt. Blaine and Darlene Hopkins officiating. Goose Cove

Passed away on Dec. 5, 2004 at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony, Agnes Clara Hancock of Goose Cove in her 91st year. Leaving to mourn her son Phillip ( Gail); daughters Theresa Reardon (Edward), Elizabeth Carroll and Margaret Howell (Guy); grandchildren Brent Hancock, Jacinta Casey (Stephen), Dale Reardon (Tracy), Lynette Pilgrim (Seymour), Joseph Carroll (Phyllis), Calvin Carroll (Tammy), Beverly Carroll, Christopher Howell, John Reardon (Patricia),Michelle Green (Jim), Jennifer Reardon, Anita Dnistransky (Daryl), Agnes Carroll, Todd Carroll (Rhonda) and Krista-Lynn Howell; great-grandchildren Victoria Carroll, Jesse Carroll, Shawn Carroll, Oliva Dnistransky, Shannon Carroll, Terryn Reardon, Gregory Sexton, Jamie Green, Luke Casey, Johnathon Carroll and Brandon Carroll, as well as a circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, son John and great-grandson Stephen. Visitation took place at the funeral home on West Street, St. Anthony! GOULD, MATTHEW - Hawkes Bay
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Matthew Gould announce his passing on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook in his 75th year. He leaves to mourn two sons Matthew and Michael (Denise) of Brampton, Ontario; grandson Mitch of British Columbia; sister Violet (Kevin) Ryan of Hawkes Bay and a large circle of other relatives and friends. The family received friends at Holy Innocents Anglican Church on Tuesday and Wednesday from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9 with Capt. Jason Haggstrom officiating. He leaves to mourn his wife Bertha; daughters Marion (Ace) Coombs of Reef's Harbour, Rachel (Rodney) Coombs of Bird Cove and Pamela (David) Mahar of Edmonton, Alberta; sons Derek (Andrea) of Brampton, Ontario and Randy of Edmonton; daughter-in-law Angela of Brampton, Ontario; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters Mary Alice Caines, Theresa (Maxwell) Gould and Melina (Pius) Gould of Bird Cove; brothers Christopher (Bridget) Pittman and Primas (Irene) Pittman of Bird Cove and Joseph (Marie) Pittman of Calgary, Alberta; sister-in-law Charlotte Rumbolt; brother-in-law Edmund Gould of Bird Cove and a lrge circle of other relatives and friends. CLEMENTS, BRIDGET MARY (NEE GARDINER)
Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Dec 7, 2004, Bridget Mary Clements, formerly of Conche, residing in Botwood, age 76 years. Left with fond and loving memories, husband David; children Vincent (Brenda), Imelda Norman (Robert), Sheila Miller (Bill), Ron (Murielle), Theresa (Terry), Maureen (Neil), Don (Marieann), Gerard (Gail) and Eugene (Kim); 19 grandchildren; sisters Sr. Zita, Susie Bromley (Pad) and Agatha Gallagher (Pat); brothers Patrick Gardiner (Mary), Ron Gardiner (Lucy), Cecil Gardiner (Rose), and Gerald Gardiner, as well as many other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Thursday, December 9, from 2- 10 p.m., then resting at Hoskin's Funeral Home in Botwood on Friday, Dec. 10 from 5- 10 p.m. The funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at St. John the Baptist Church in Botwood. Interment followed at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Botwood.

PARSONS STEDMAN M. - Parsons Pond
June 13, 1943 - Dec. 7, 2004

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stedman M. Parsons announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 in his 61st year. Stedman will be sadly missed be his loving family, his brothers Sandy (Mary Jane), Rex (Jean) and Gerald (Marion), all of Parsons Pond; sisters Sadie (Tom) Verge, Daisy (Max) Payne, Rowena and Mildred, all of Parsons Pond, Josie of Rocky Harbour and Edna of Parsons Pond; brother-in-law Claude Brown of Cow Head, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Eldric and Gladys, sisters Lily Kate, Jessie, Beatrice and Joyce, brothers-in-law Percie Payne, Gilbert Goosney, Henry Payne, Milton Walters, John Wentzell and Peter Bavis. The family received family and friends on Thursday at the Anglican Church in Parsons Pond from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10 with Rev. James Pratt officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Brian Noel Bugden announce his passing on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004 at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in his 48th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife and friend Beatrice Patricia (nee Maynard). He was a loving father and friend of daughter Bonnie, son-in-law Jason and special granddaughter Emma; and a loving father and friend of daughter Bethany. He also leaves his loving parents Benjamin and Betty Bugden, sister Brenda Bugden and his brother Bliss of Brampton, Ontario, with fond and loving memories, as well as a number of close sisters and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and a large circle of friends. He was predeceased by sister Lola, granddad Clarence Shears and grandparents James and Minnie Bugden. The family received family and friends at the home in Norris Point on Thursday, Dec 9. Oct. 6, 1914 - Dec. 10, 2004

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ambrose Byrne announce his passing on Friday, Dec 10, 2004 at John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony in his 90th year. Leaving to mourn his sons Ron (Sheila), Wilfred (Marie), Gerard (Debbie), Cyril (Beth) and Ambrose Jr.; daughters Angela McGrath (Ron), Loretta (Boyd), Shirley Ward (Jerome), Linda McGrath (Dan), Imelda (Gerald) and Regina (Sean); 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and a circle of nieces, nephews and friends. BUDGEN, ROBERT FREDERICK DOVE
River of Ponds
Feb. 21, 1940 - Dec. 14, 2004

Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, Dec 14, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Fred was surrounded by his family and friends as he journeyed into paradise. He leaves behind with fond and loving memories wife Bertha (nee Patey); daughter Angela (Bruce) Saunders; granddaughters Sidney and Libby; sisters Geraldine (Reg) Williams, Betty (Reg) Grandy and Amelia (Clyde) Earles; bothers Martin (Ivy), Claude (Claire), Gerald (Vivian) and Craig; step daughters Jackie ( Hank) Gould and Wanda Patey; stepsons Warrick (Velma) Patey and Gord (Wanita) Patey; step-grandchildren Kyle Gould, Danika Patey, Samantha Patey, and Marty Patey. He also leaves to mourn his extended family Eric and Alma House, Alice and Doug House, Levi (Donna) House, Enos (Sybil) House, Doug (Maureen) House, Reg (Joyce)House, Linda (Lewis) Patey, Genevieve (Warren) Payne, Otto (Adalaide) House, Rod (Evelyn) House, Juanita (Clement) Payne and Amelia House, as well as a large circle of nieces, ne! phews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Vivian in 1986, mother Margaret in 2004 and father Martin in 1972. Visitation took place at St. Peter's Anglican Church in River of Ponds on Thursday from where the funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17 with interment following at the family plot in Parson's Pond. By request of the family, flowers were accepted or donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre or the Alzheimer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.

MUCHA, MYRTLE (Nee Barney)
Passed peacefully away at home, as were her wishes, with her family by her side, on Wednesday Dec. 15, 2004, Myrtle Mucha (Nee Barney) in her 79th year, beloved wife of Peter and adorned mom of Marie and her husband Gerry Taylor. She is survived by her brothers Maxwell Barney (the late Isabelle) and Clarus Barney (Sarah) of L'Anse au Loup; sister Amelia and her husband Frederick Stoewen of Kitchener, and Annie Dempster (the late Baxter) and Elizabeth Dempster (the late Dudley), both of Flowers Cove; numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved, plus the pussy cats three. She was predeceased by her parents Solomon and Jane Barney. We wish to thank many for their love and kindness on this, her final journey, our neighbours Kirk and Janet, the Korkus family, Sol and Wesley, and our caregivers Kim (RN) an Colleen. Visitation took place at The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St. N., Bowmanville, Ontario on Friday, Dec 17, 2004, 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was h! eld in our chapel on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, a charity of one's choice or perhaps an unselfish act of kindness.

Passed away on Dec. 16, 2004 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Mae Earle of St. Lunaire-Griquet in her 73rd year. She will be sadly missed by her children Donald (Sarah), Nelson (Ruth), Sandy (Isabell), Carl (Susan) and Sharon; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters and three brothers, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband Augustus on Feb. 13, 1985, and son Malcom (baby). Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19 with Pastor Primmer officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. O'BRIEN, Lawrence David
M.P. for Labrador
Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on Thursday, December 16, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Lawrence D. O'Brien of Labrador, age 53 years. Lawrence spent his life serving the Labrador people in many positions and for the last nine years as the Member of Parliament for Labrador where he passionately promoted the rights and needs of all Labradorians. Lawrence is predeceased by his parents Leo and Philomene O'Brien (nee Joncas) and two sisters Olive Butler and Louisa Jones. Leaving to mourn his wife Alice (nee McDonald), son Michael, and daughter Amanda; Four brothers: Clifford (Hazel) Lanse Au Loup, Medric (Edith) Sept Isles, Bernard (Maude) St. Paul's River, Leo (Grace) Ottawa; Four sisters: Bridget of Lance au Loup, Ruby (Pat Cabot) West St Modeste, Alice Jones of Lourdes de Blanc Sablon, Beatrice (Tom Bolger) Labrador City; Also a large circle of relatives and friends. A special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Health Sciences Center in St. John's Blanc Sablon Hospital , Labrador Health Clinic in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Ottawa General, and the St. Clare's Hospital in St. John's. HILL, THOMAS
St. Anthony

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Dec. 17, 2004. He was in his 64th year. Visitation was held at the funeral home on West Street, St. Anthony. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Betty; sons Clifford, Henry, Ricky and Alfred; daughter Cathy (Gary); mother Rita Hill; brothers Albert (Nina), Harvey and Joseph (Eliza);sisters Mary Jane, Margaret and Elizabeth (Alfred); grandchildren Vadney, Gordon, Vanessa, Valarie, Kyle and Dion. He was predeceased by father Ernest Hill, brothers-n-law George Rowbottom and Isaac Rose; sister-in-law Judy Hill, as well as a large number of other family and friends. The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Dec. 20 at St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Jean- Brenton Hickman officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Murrin, Sr. Marie Reine
A Sister of Saint Martha of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, passed away at Bethany, the Motherhouse, on Dec. 17, 2004. She was 86. Born in Goose Cove, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ann (McGrath) Murrin. Sr. Marie Reine entered the congregation on Jan. 12, 1939 and pronounced her first vows in August of 1940. She spent 21 years ministering in the University Infirmary of St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish. From 1961 to 1971 she assisted in health care service at Bethany and the R.K. MacDonald Guest Home, both in Antigonish, and St. Augustine 's Seminary in Scarborough, Ontario. For seven years she SR. MARIE REINE MURRIN served in the dietary department at St. Martha's Hospital in Antigonish. After training in the field of podiatry in Montreal, Sr. Marie Reine provided this service to many people in Cape Breton and Antigonish town and county. She retired from full-time active service in 1991. Due to failing health she moved into Bethany Extended Care in August of 2001. Sr. Marie Reine was one of a family of seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by one sister, Mary Bartlett of St. Lunaire-Griquet. She was predeceased by sisters Bridget Troy and Effie Gardiner, and brothers Herbert, Joseph, Pearce and Timothy. Her remains rested at Bethany Motherhouse. A celebration of Vigil was held on Dec. 20. A Liturgy of Christian Burial took place on Dec. 21. Arrangements were under the direction of MacIsaac Funeral Home, Antigonish, Nova Scotia**.

CARPENTER, DOROTHY
St. Anthony

Passed away on Dec. 18, 2004 at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony, Dorothy Carpenter in her 91st year. Leaving to mourn with fond memories her children Pearl Anderson (Alfred), Grace Davis (Wallace) and William Carpenter Jr. (Ruby); grandchildren James (Ann), Audrey (Tobi), Dwight (Judy), Wallace (Una), Brenda (Kevin), Beverly (Ed), Donald (Jennifer) and Thomas (Wendy); great-grandchildren Terri, Khatija, Yasmin, Amy, Micheal, Brian, Aaron, David and Avery; sisters Ruth Hudson, Irene Guzzwell and Pearl Pye, as will as a wide circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband William and great-grandson David John. Visitation took place at the funeral home on West Street, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 20 with Rev. Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's c! hoice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

BELBIN, HILDA RUTH
Red Bay

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hilda Ruth Belbin announce her passing at the Labrador South Health Centre in Forteau on Dec. 21, 2004 at the age of 59 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories husband Nelson; son Wayne; daughters Rosalie, Kayla and Wendy Lee; mother Mina Buckle, and sister Beatrice Cooney (Brian), as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her dad George Buckle. Visitors were received at the Forteau Anglican Church on Wednesday and Thursday from where the funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 24 with Rev. Roberta Woodman officiating, assisted by Rev. Lee Michelin. Interment followed in the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral home, L'Anse au Loup.

ROBINSON, BLANCHE LILLIAN SIMMS

(Formerly of St.Anthony)

Passed peacefully away on Dec. 22, 2004 at Curtis Memorial Hospital, Blanche Robinson, in her 76th year. She leaves to mourn her husband Norman Robinson; children Ephriam (Karen) Simms, Shirley (Walter) Parsons, Ena Roberts, Phyllis (Eric) Mantaque, Gordon (Daphne) Simms, Wade (Chris) Simms, Triffena (Albert) Roberts, Ivan (Phyllis) Simms and Dale (Rose) Simms; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; sisters Pheobe Coates, Rita (William) Colbourne, Catherine (Whyman) Coates, Pearl Hoffman, Phyllis (Clyde) Elliott; brothers Malcolm (Alfreida), Tommy (Sylvia), Ralph (Pearl) and Baxter (Sybil); sister-in-law Margaret Rose, as well as a number or other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey Simms, infant daughter Nellie, daughter Grace, parents Elizabeth and Thomas Rose, brother Isaac Rose, daughter-in-law Joan Simms and son-in-law Calvin Roberts. Visitation took place at the Pentecostal Church in St. Anthony from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec 24 with Pastor Combdon officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Flowers were graciously accepted or donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

GENGE, ALBERT STEPHEN
Flowers Cove

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Albert Stephen Genge announce his passing on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004 at the Strait of Belle Isle Health Centre in Flowers Cove at the age of 59 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his common-law wife Ivy Atkins; sons Melvin (Jennifer) of Yellowknife, NWT and Stephen of Flowers Cove; granddaughters Makenna and Katie; mother Susannah (Susie) Genge; brothers Anthony (Sadie), Charlie (Elizabeth), Robert (Clara) and Cyril (Julia); sister Sheila (Lambert) Coles; mother-in-law Mary Ann Dredge, special friends Clarence and Nancy Way, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Marie and father Harrison. The family received friends at St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec.31 with Capt. Jason Haggstom officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix/ Bear Cove.

PILGRIM, DIANE JANE

Jan. 1, 1952 - Dec. 29, 2004

Passed peacefully away at her home early Wednesday morning, Dec 29, 2004, Diane Pilgrim in her 52nd year. She leaves to mourn her husband Wayne Pilgrim, children Calvin (Juanita), Lorne (Bev), Lynn (Justin) and Randy; grandchildren Katelyn, Emma and Abby; six sisters; four brothers and a large circle of other family and friends. Visation took place at the Pentecostal Church in Main Brook from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31 with Pastor Clarke officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.
