APPLIN, Sarah
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sarah Applin of Shoal Cove West, NL, announce her passing on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 60 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughters Darlene (Alvin), Shoal Cove West and Vira (Glen) Way, Devon, Alberta; grandchildren Hailey, Hayden, and Hannah; great-granddaughter Angelica-Rae; mother Rosanna Applin; sisters Susan, Dora, and Bessie; and brother Eric Garland, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father Eric, partner Randell Coombs, and brothers Thomas, Gasper, Stanley and Ivan. Friends visited St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church, Reef's Harbour on Tuesday evening and Wednesday from where the funeral was held on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harvey officiating. Interment followed at French Cove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix. BAILEY, Gideon B.
Passed away tragically at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Aug. 14, 2012 at the young age of 56 years, Mr. Gideon B. Bailey of Forrester's Point, NL. Left with heavy hearts and loving memories are his wife Rita; son Tyrone; daughter Denise (Tony); grandchildren Kyle and Chloe, brothers Bill (Gwen), Don (Dulcie), and Stewart (Rowena); his sisters Sheila (Gideon), and Mary (George); brother-in -law Clifford (Bessie); sisters-in-law Eliza (Joe), Amy (Gar), Fiona (Trevor), and Winnie (Wade); Uncle Adam (Bessie), and many nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom he dearly loved. Despite his young age Gideon was no stranger to loss, having lived through the passing of his parents Phoebe and Solomon, his brother Arch, sister Irene, brother-in-law Wilga, sister-in-law Mary Jane, father-in-law John and mother-in-law Frances. Visitation took place at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove from where the funeral was held on Friday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Harvey and layperson Matt Osborne officiating. Burial followed the funeral service in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

CAINES, Kimberley Jacqueline
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kimberley Caines of Port au Choix, NL, announce her passing on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 42 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Cedric, and son Christopher. She is predeceased by son Alex. Left to mourn with precious memories are her parents Phyllis and Thomas Tucker; mother-in-law Mary Caines; sisters-in-law Valda (George) White, and Adoralyn (Derm) Kenny; brother-in-law Ben (Michelle) Caines; grandmother-in-law Evangeline Burt, as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her baby brother, grandparents Tom and MaryAnn Baines and Caroline and Phillip Tucker, and father-in-law Donald Caines. Cremation took place at Humber Valley Crematorium. A memorial service took place on Monday, Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. from St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Port au Choix, with Rev. Paulette Bugden and Fr. Lee Lainey officiating. CHAMBERS, Laura
Passed away at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Aug. 29, 2012, Mrs. Laura Chambers in her 95th year. Laura (Aunt Lorie) will be sadly missed by all her relatives and friends, especially by her beloved nephew Whyman, nephew Harold and his wife Maggie, whom she lived with for many years. Visitation was held at the St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Flowers Cove from where on Friday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m. the funeral service was held with Rev. Paulette Bugden officiating. Burial followed at the Community Cemetery at Doctors Brook, near Barr'd Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

COLES, Goldie
Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Aug. 7, 2012, Mrs. Goldie Coles of Reef's Harbour, NL, in her 93rd year. She leaves to morn daughters Annie, Melvina, Elizabeth (Marcell) and Trudy; sons Les (Susan), Wallace (Imelda), Curline, Seymore, George, Elijah, Roy, Lance, and Elias; brothers Curtis, (Nettie) and Freeman (Marjorie); sister Gertrude; son-in-law Abe; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Elias, daughter Olive, parents Annie and George Gaulton, brothers Joe, Seymore, Clayton, and Ross, sons-in-law Bill and Gerald. Visitation was held at St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church in Reef's Harbour-Shoal Cove West from where the funeral service was held on Friday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Harvey officiating. Burial was held at the community cemetery.

ELLIOTT, Oswald
Born: October 28th, 1942
Passed on: August 18th, 2012
Our hearts are deeply saddened with the passing of or dear and loving husband, father, poppy, great-grandfather and brother, Oswald Elliott, of Cook's Harbour, NL. who passed peacefully away on Aug. 18, 2012. He leaves to mourn with many loving memories his wife Emma; daughters Yvonne (David), and Doreen (Tom); son Trevor (Louise); grandchildren Kealy (Ledwin), Knowry Lynn (John), Kerry (Samantha), Ashley and Emma; great-grandchildren Hannah, Maxx Landon, Ava and Bella; brothers and sisters Gladys, Caleb, Millie, Amos and Racheal and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by father Bertrum, mother Maude, sisters Dora, Edith, and Yvonne. You left us so soon but your impact on our lives will always be remembered. Prayers and family viewing took place a Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, followed by cremation.

HILLIER, James Christopher
Passed away suddenly at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Aug. 27, 2012, Mr. James C. Hillier of St. Lunaire-Griquet, NL, in his 46th year. Jim leaves to mourn his wife Idella; son Dylan; birth mother Blanche Hillier; mother Minnie Hillier; grandparents Henry and Lavenia Humby; brothers Elvis (Ellen), Ernest, Donald (Evelyn), William, Scott (Nellie), and Wilson (Evelyn); sisters Peggy (Glen), Belinda (Kurry), Pamela (Osner), Wally (Herman), Glenda (Norman), Wavey (Ron), Joy (Marvin), and Hope (Keith), as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Llewellyn Hillier and his birth father Lindy Hillier. Visitation was held at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Griquet from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29 with Major Bingle officiating. Burial followed the service at the Anglican Cemetery at Dark Tickle. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

HILLIER, Violet Marie (nee Newman)
It is with great sadness that the families of Violet Marie Hillier (nee Newman) of Deer Lake Manor, formerly of Englee, NL, (March 29, 1939 - Aug. 29, 2012) announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Wednesday Aug. 29, 2012, at the age of 73 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her sister Francis, of New York, U.S.A; her special nephew Barry (Cindy) Newman, their children and grandchildren Renee Newman (Darrell), Cody, Cameron and Jayden, and special cousin Benson (Nancy) Pearce; her stepchildren Nina (Brian) Hillier, Roy Hillier, Rick (Hazel) Hillier, and Leon (Cindy), eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Violet was predeceased by her husband Lewis Hillier, and parents Wilfred and Julie Newman. She also leaves to mourn a large extended family and friends. Visitation took place at the Salvation Army Church in Englee on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service took place on Monday, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m. with Majors Henry and Beatrice Bingle officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery in Englee. The funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake. HUTCHINGS, Elizabeth Amy
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elizabeth Hutchings of Sally's Cove, NL, (Jan. 25, 1935 - Aug. 19, 2012) announce her passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 at the age of 77 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Harold (Belinda), Myles (Cheryl), Loretta (Steve Wilson), Eileen (Les Stantien), Geraldine (Alex Rumbolt), Della (Eddie Laing), Winston (Thelma), Darren (Charlene), and Bonnie Lou (Didier Ocana); brothers and sisters Frederick (Rachael), and Gordon (Daphne); 30 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Bertram Gilley, parents Seymour and Maria (nee Payne) Hutchings, brothers and sisters Freida (Gordon Gilley), Frailen (Winnifred), Bessie (Reuben Bennett) and Benjamin Hutchings. Visitation took place at St. Albans Anglican Church on Monday, and Tuesday, from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. JOY, Mary Margaret
Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on Aug. 8, 2012, Mrs. Mary Margaret Joy of Conche, NL, in her 89th year. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond and loving memories son Hubert (Fanny); daughter Margaret (Fred); her grandchildren Wade (Pam), Philip (Fay), Terry (Tanya), Gerard (Joan), Frank, Madonna (Kevin), and Betty (Gerald); 11 great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Walter, her parents Thomas and Mary Wiseman, sister Joan Porter, and brothers Joseph and Edward Wiseman. Visitation was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche, followed by the funeral mass at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 with Fr. Vitus Echedo officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

PIKE, Mary Ann (Annie)
Our hearts were deeply saddened when our dear and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Mary Ann (Annie) Pike passed away suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at St. Luke's Home at the age of 80 years. She is predeceased by her parents; husband Cecil; infant daughter Verbena; brother Sidney Flynn; and sister Pauline Lakin. Leaving to mourn with many wonderful memories of her are daughters Phyllis (Paul), Lexie (Derrick), and Myr (Earl); grandsons Kirk (Julie) Lundie, Keith and Matthew Maddocks; great-grandchildren Sophia and Michael Lundie; sisters Julie Yetman, Selina (Pleamon) Earle, Malsie Fowler, Blanche (Edward) Dredge, and Eva Fowler; brothers Gordon (Violet) Flynn, Charles (Rita) Ryland, Frank (Gail) Flynn, Amos (Margaret) Ryland, Randell (Ellen) Flynn, Malvin (Ann) Flynn, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, special friend, Florence Bellows, and a large circle of wonderful friends at St. Luke`s. Annie's love of family and her gentle caring nature will be forever in the hearts of all that love her. Funeral service has taken place from Red Bay United Church, Labrador on Monday, Aug. 20. ROBERTS, Clyde
Passed away to peaceful rest at his private home in Flowers Cove, Mr. Clyde Roberts in his 79th year. Clyde is survived by his wife of 55 years Marilyn; his son Craig (Anna); daughters Jaye and Deirdre (Bill); as well as two grandchildren Kendra and Cameron. He also leaves behind his sisters Maxine (Richard), and Patsy (Karl); and his brother Roland (Rita); his church community; and a wide circle of family and friends. Visitation took place at the United Church in Flowers Cove, from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29 with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Burial followed the service in the Old United Cemetery in Flowers Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. SHEPPARD, Albert Joseph
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Albert Sheppard of St. Anthony, NL, announce his passing on Aug. 20, 2012 at the John M. Gray Centre, St. Anthony, at the age of 85 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Ruby; daughters Verna (Maurice) Humphries, Joy (Danny) Keats, Cathy (Oral) Strangemore, Becky (Terence) Biles, and Brenda (Terry) McGarth; granddaughters Kristie, Lisa, Amy, and Melissa; grandsons Terry, Stephen, Kenneth, Damian, Andy and Zack; great-grandchildren Danielle, Lauren, Lucas, Braden, Matthew, Katelyn, Noah, Trent and Charlotte; sisters Francis (Roland) Downton, Margaret (Harvey) Mayot, and Pearl (Bert) Moores; brothers John (Joyce), and Roger (Marilyn), and a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Noah and Clara and brother George. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 23 at the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony with Major Dinzel Baggs officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Cemetery. SIMMS, Kenny
Passed away suddenly on Aug. 16, 2012 at the young age of 34 years at his home, Mr. Kenny Simms of St. Anthony, NL. Kenny will be missed by many. Left to mourn him are his mother Veronica Cull; stepfather Scott Cull; his father Ernest Simms and stepmother Mary Simms; his brothers Robert and Adam; sisters Kathy and Caitlin; his grandparents Stewart and Selma Payne; his special great-aunt Flo Dean, as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Kenny was predeceased by his grandfather and grandmother Ernest Sr. and Emma Simms as well as his grandfather and grandmother Moses and Susannah Dyson, his Uncle Eugene Dyson, Aunt Kathleen Cull and cousin Misty Dyson. Visitation for Kenny was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22 with Pastor Jeff Bessey officiating. Burial took place in the St. Anthony Pentecostal Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

SINNICKS, Guy
Passed away suddenly at his home in Forrester's Point on Aug. 20, 2012, Mr. Guy Sinnicks, of Forrester's Point, NL, at the age of 58 years. Left stricken with shock and grief but appreciative of the times they spent together are his family, among them his beloved wife of 89 years Joselyn; his brothers Bobby (Cathy), and Barry (Rachel); his daughters Roxanne (Rick), Joanna (Arthur), and Lorna (Pat); his son and dear friend Jacob (Linda); mother Joanna; grandchildren Bobby, Brandon, Hailey (Krista), Hope, Dylan, and Vanessa; and special friend Ruby. Before his passing Guy lost his father Jacob. Visitation took place at St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Anchor Point, form where the funeral service was held on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating. Burial followed the service in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

WILLIAMS, Gertrude
Passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony on Aug. 8, 2012, Mrs. Gertrude Williams of Forrester's Point, NL, in her 95th year. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond and loving memories daughters Dulcie Taylor (the late Kirby Taylor), Eliza Parrill (Grant), son George Williams (Mary), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Clement Williams, daughter Mary Jane Bailey, son Roland Williams, mother Susan Macey, father John Macey, brothers Thomas Macey, Ressie Macey, sisters Jane Noseworthy, Mary Noseworthy, and Kezia Way. Visitation took place at the St. Mary's Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 with Rev. Harold Harvey officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.
