It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vivian Applin announce her passing on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at her home in St. Barbe at the age of 66 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories a special friend Jacob Toope; children Craig (Janice), Virginia (Doug), Maria (Walt), Michelle (Chad), and Sherry Lynn (Jeff); eight grandchildren Ross, Jeremy (Connie), Kelcie (Brady), Jodi, Javan, Rianna, Victoria and Matthew and a large circle of other family and friends. Vivian is predeceased by her husband Ross Applin. Friends and family visited the Edgar Applin Sr. Memorial United Church in Pigeon Cove on Sunday evening and Monday. The funeral was held at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove on Tuesday, Aug 31 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Levinia Fillatre, funeral director.

BRIDLE, Robert

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert Bridle of Red Bay, NL announce his sudden passing on Aug. 18, 2010 at the family residence in Red Bay at the age of 78 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories wife Julia; children Audrey (Ian Slade), Rita (Eric Paul), Velda (Randell Layden), Mona (Garland Pye), Mervin (Patsy) and Jean Bridle (Chris Caron); grandchildren Vaughan, Tyson, Jamie, Andrew, Sheena, Robert, Danielle, Starsky, Kim and Melissa; great-grandchildren Bridget, Gracie, Brooklynn, Mia, Hannah, Larissa, Brendon, Cole, and Caylee; brothers and sisters Ewart, Jane, Violet and Eric, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Malcolm and Patience Bridle. Visitors were received at the family home on Wednesday, Thursday and at the Gospel Hall on Friday from where the funeral service took place Saturday, Aug. 21 at 2 p.m. with Mr. Albert Joyce and Mr. David Swan officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in Red Bay. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, L'Anse au Loup.

CHUBBS, Florence Janet

Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, in St. Anthony on Aug. 30, 2010, after a two year battle with cancer Florence Janet Chubbs of St. Lewis, NL. She is predeceased by her parents Fredrick and Emma, and brothers Earl, Nelson and Lewellyn. Leaving to mourn her husband of 49 years, Graham; son Brian (Karen); daughter Sheila Cooper (Wade); grandchildren Shawna, Ryan, Amanda, and Tony; sisters Ethel Rumbolt (Wilfred), and Shirley Penney; brothers Tom, Will (Lydia), Paul, and Norman (Jean); brothers-in-law Cyril (Elsie) and Warrick (Elaine), also her many neices and nephews, great-neices and nephews, and a large circle of other family and friends. She will always be remembered and forever missed. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

COLES, Llewellyn L.
Passed away peacefully at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Aug. 22, 2010, Mr. Llewellyn Lush Coles of Green Island Brook, NL, in his 69th year. Left to mourn with a lifetime of loving memories are his nieces Daphine and Bianca Coles, his sister Laura (Freeman) White and family, brother Claude (Lillian) Coles and family, brother Archibald (Hazareth) Coles and family, sister Mable Diamond and family, Irene Sinyard and family, as well as the families of the late Minnie Tucker and the late Jacob Coles. Llewellyn was predeceased by his parents George and Beatrice Coles, his sister Minnie, brothers Harold and Jacob, and special nephew Arch. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Lower Cove, from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24 with Rev. Ralph Moore officiating. Burial followed in the Anglican Cemetery in Green Island Brook. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

DEMPSEY, Peter

Passed away in: St. Anthony, Newfoundland, Canada
Passed away on: 18/08/2010
Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony, NL on Aug. 18, 2010, Mr. Peter Dempsey of Roddickton, NL in his 86th year. Mr. Dempsey leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories his loving wife Veronica; his children Elizabeth, Peter, John, Margaret, Theresa, Cecila and Timothy; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, as well as his sisters Amelia and Ellen Ann. The wake was held at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Roddickon, from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21 with Fr. Devas officiating. Burial followed the service in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

ELLIOTT, Amelia

Passed away unexpectedly at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL on Aug. 17, 2010, Mrs. Amelia Elliott in her 84th year. Mrs. Elliott is survived by her four daughters Shirley (Doug) Mills, Ruby (Truman) Mitchelmore, Marjorie (Albert) Pilgrim and Cynthia (John) Diamond; four sons, Clyde (Phyllis), Glen (Gaye), Randy (Jackie) and Darrell (Roxanne); 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister Bertha (Whyman) Warren; sisters-in-law Gladys (Wilfred) Elliott, Jessie Elliott and Jane Carroll; brother-in-Law George (Mary). She was predeceased by her husband Ernest, sister Naomi (George) Lemaire, brothers Joseph (Jessie) Carroll and William Carroll, brother-in-law Fred Elliott, sisters-in-law Grace (Arthur) Patey and Violet (Robert) Loder. Visitation was held at the funeral home followed by the funeral service which took place at St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony on Saturday, Aug. 21 with Rev. Moore and Louise Richards officiating. Burial was held at the St. Anthony Anglican Cemetery immediately following the funeral. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

FILLIER, Dulcie M.

Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Aug. 24, 2010, Dulcie Melita Fillier of Roddickton, NL in her 89th year. Left with loving memories are son Norman Fillier of Roddickton, son Douglas (Beth) Fillier of Toronto, son Edward Fillier of Toronto, son Sterling (Donna) Fillier of Sudbury, daughter Bernetta (Robert) Regular of St. John's, daughter Florilla (Kisher) Singapuri of Lancaster Pennsylvania, daughter Joan (Gordon) Abbott of Gander, daughter Jean Fillier of Bay Roberts, daughter-in-law Melvina Hopkins of Englee, daughter-in-law Iris Fillier of Roddickton, sister Nellie (Dorman) Pilgrim of Roddickton, 19 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren, also a large circle of other family and friends. Dulcie was predeceased by her husband Alexander Fillier, son Stanley Fillier and son George Fillier. Visitation was held at the funeral home in Roddickton, from where the funeral service took place at the United Church in Englee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28 with Rev. Stephanie McClellan officiating. Burial followed the service in the old United Cemetery in Englee. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

GILBERT, Mrs. Marie

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband John Gilbert, River of Ponds; children Sharon (Harry) Conway, Ontario, Jim Knight, Ontario, Bonnie (Shawn) Rose, Gallants, Betsy (Pat) Power, St. John's, Terry (Donna) Gilbert, North Carolina, Lori (Tony) Tuinstra, Ontario and Gary Gilbert, Gander; 10 grandchildren; sisters Leah Balmer, Rochester, New York and Linda (Gordon) Maybee, Brockport, New York; brothers and sisters-in-law George (Joyce) Gilbert, Corner Brook, Max (Genova) Gilbert, Corner Brook, Clarence (Rhoda) Gilbert, Steady Brook, Violet Gilbert, Corner Brook, Ivy (Joe) Roberts, Badger, Emma Knott, Corner Brook, Jeanette (Herman) Walters, Carbonear and Ethel Randell, Corner Brook as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Maude Knott, sister Stella Dooby, brothers Bill Knott and Walter (Selma) Knott, sisters-in-law Annie (Orestes) Gardner and Marjorie (Ken) Fiander. Friends visited St. Peter's Anglican Church in River of Ponds on Sunday evening and Monday from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating. Cremation followed at Humber Valley Crematorium. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, Corner Brook. LAVERS, JR., Wilson

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wilson Lavers Jr. of Port Saunder, NL announce his passing on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 71 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his children Corinne (Iggy), Port Saunders and Tyrone (Ida), Corner Brook; grandchildren Maggie, Tyler, Barry and Corey; brother Joe (Hilda) Port au Choix; sisters Lucille (Mike) and Jeanie (Scott); very special aunt Nellie and the late Reginald Offrey and family whom Wilson resided with as a boy after the passing of his mom, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Wilson and Margaret Lavers and daughter-in-law Mary. The family received friends at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church in Port Saunders from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Lee Lainy officiating, followed by interment at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatres Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

PELLEY, Jack Hancock

Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Aug. 29, 2010, Jack Hancock Pelley of Main Brook NL, in his 70th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his stepmother Beatrice Pelley; three brothers Wade (Catherine), Craig (Ruby), and stepbrother John (Netta); also two sisters Kimberly (Neil), and Mavis Pollard. Jack also leaves behind nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jack was predeceased by his parents Evelyn and Cecil Pelley. The family received friends at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Main Brook from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kris Gosse officiating, followed by interment at the Anglican Cemetery in Main Brook. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Levinia Fillatre, funeral director.

SAMSON, Albert Francis

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Albert Samson of River of Ponds, NL. announce his passing on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 74 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Evangeline; sons Lonnie (Gladys), Philip (Annah), Frank (Viola) of River of Ponds; daughters Karen (the late Thomas Prosper), White Court, Alberta and Dana (Allison), St. Anthony; grandchildren Connie (Gorvin), Jillian (Marty), Andre, Zachary, Aiden, Mason, Daley, Gregory, Gwendolyn, Mackenzie and Abigail; great-grandchildren Ava, Brooke-lynn, Chloe, Austin, William, Jasmine, Haylee and Luke; brothers Ralph (Marion) and Bradley (Mary); sisters Bride (Julian), Marjorie, Dorcas, Kathleen (Loman), Blanche (Donald) and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Violet, brother Walter, brothers-in-law Wilson and Garfield. The family received friends at St. Peter's Anglican Church in River of Ponds, Thursday and Friday from where the funeral service took place on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.
