FLYNN, Thomas
Roddickton

Passed away at Roddickton on Aug. 4, 2008, Thomas Flynn, age 93 years. Leaving to mourn his wife of 20 years Gertie Byrne; sons Peter (Cathy), Lawrence (Kelly), Wilfred, and Pat (Laurie); grandchildren Tina, Shawna, Samantha, Jacob, Nathan, Emily and Ashley, also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by parents John and Mary Flynn and young daughter Rosie and young son Francis. Visitation took place at Sacred Heart Parish in Conche from where the funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8 with Fr. Devas officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

DUMARESQUE, Hattie May
Formerly of Forteau

On Aug. 5, 2008, God took away an angel to heaven. Hattie May Dumaresque (nee Buckle) passed away far too soon after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 54 years Alan; seven children Carl (Gloria), Levi (Linda), Wayne (Eva), Edgar (Nora), Garry (Donna), Kirby (Kelly) and Katrina; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Mary (Bob-deceased), Bertha (Dave), Francis (Gertie), and sister-in-law Pearl. She is predeceased by her parents John and Mary Ann Buckle, sister Susannah and brother James Stewart. She will be remembered as a woman of strength, faith, courage, grace and dignity. Family always came first to her. She was extremely proud of and close to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never missed a birthday or special occasion and always ensured that she remained in contact wherever they travelled. Burial took place in her birth town Forteau, Labrador.
She will be sadly missed.

HUGHES, MARIA
Green Island Brook

Passed away at her residence in Green Island Brook on Aug, 10, 2008, Maria Hughes, age 87 years. Leaving to mourn children Lawrence (Hazel), (Winnie), Marjorie, Marona, Stan (Jill), Edna (Iverson), Willis, Yvonne (Stewart), Velma, Delilah, (Lewis) and Joyce (Boyce); grandchildren Joanna (Tony), Jock, Lillian (Max), Lourie Ann (Tyson), Maitland (Doreen), Jacqueline (Randy), Dale (Warren), Dorm (Juliet), Lisa (Dave), Jocelyn (Donny), Tony (Leila), Michael, Matthew (Alyssaa), Molly, Darcy (Debbie), Della (Chris), Kent (Danielle), Melissa (Zack), Ricky (Sandy) and Rodney, great-grandchildren Courtney, Madison, Patrick, Max Jr., Alex, Timothy, Jordan, Jeremy, Kirby, Kelsey, Riely, Kellie, Kaylah, Bradley, Jared, Ryder and Ramsey; sisters Rita (Ivany) and Audrey and a wide circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by husband John, mother Mary, and father John, children Violet, Ross, Nelson and Maitland, brothers and sisters Eliza White, Nelson McLean, George McLean, John McLean and Thomas McLean, brothers and sisters-in- law Anthony Parrill, George White, Ellen McLean and Frances McLean, sons-in-law Osbourne Noseworthy and Isaac Noseworthy. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug 13, 2008 with Rev. Diane Smith officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton.

HEDGE, WILFRED STANLEY
Pines Cove

It was with great sadness that the family of the late Wilfred Stanley Hedge announces his passing on Aug. 11, 2008 at Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony, Wilfred Stanley Hedge, age 71 years. He leaves to mourn wife Caroline; children Terry (Stella), Edna (William), Manette (Garrison), Sherry (Richard) and Tyson (Lourie Ann); grandchildren Ocean, Alex, Andrew, Jordan, Caroline, Nickolas and Patrick; great-grandchild Riley. The funeral service was held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Lower Cove on Friday, August 15 with Rev. Diane Smith officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery at Pond Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St.Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay, funeral director.

SAMSON, ANNIE CAROLINE
Plum Point

Passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital on Aug. 15, 2008, Caroline Samson of Plum Point in her 93 year. Leaving to mourn children Helen, Joyce (Howard) and Frank (Aliza); grandchildren Annie, Patsy, Russell, Angela, Foch, Jocelyn, Lottie and Sandy; great grandchildren Steven, Dillon, Shane, Shawn, Patrick, Alliah, Sarah, Andrea, Alexa, Felicia and Cammy; Aliza’s children Nikki and Carey; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by husband Garland; son Gene; grandson Alan; parents Kenneth and Harriet Samson; five brothers Alexander (Liz), George (Maisie), William (Miriam), Robert and Foch. Visitation was held at the church of the Advent in Plum Point from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Aug. 18, 2008 with Rev. Kris Gosse and Matt Osbourne officiating. Interment followed at the cemetery on Darby’s Island. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home St. Anthony and Roddickton.

EVANS, KEZIAH
Raleigh

Passed away at Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony on August 16, 2008, Keziah Evans of Raleigh, age 64 years. Leaving to mourn husband William; children Shirley (Carl) and grandchildren Gilbert and Felicia (Dustin), Harold (Gaye) and grandchildren Amanda (Jeff) and Christopher, Scott (Lucy) and grandchildren Farrah (Craig) and Ghyslain; daughter- in-law Amy and grandchildren Adam and Brian, great-grandchildren Myra and Tazlyne; brother William (Dulcie) Applin; sisters Irene (Lawrence) Taylor, Sybil (late Roland) Taylor, Naomi (Hubert) Hughes, Donna (Calvin) Hughes, and Edna (late Walter) Taylor; sister-in-law Rachel Applin; brother-in-law John Parrill, and a large number of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by parents William Sr. and Eliza Applin, sister Mary Elizabeth Parrill, brother Richard and Henry Applin. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Raleigh from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug 19, 2008 with Rev. Graham officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Danielle Galgay and Lee Nippard, funeral directors.

DOREY, ARTHUR
Pinware

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Arthur Dorey announces his passing on Aug. 20, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, wife Irene; children Joanne (Dean) and Darrell (Wanda); grandchildren Kendra, Andrew, Owen and Evan; brother Wilfred; as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents George and Lily Dorey; son Kelvin and brother Seymour. Visitors were received at the Anglican Church in Capstan Island on Wednesday and Thursday, from where the funeral services took place on Friday, Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. Reverend Marlaine Leggo officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery in L’Anse au Diable. Flowers received as expressions of sympathy were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, L’Anse au Loup.

HOUSE, GODFREY
Bellburns

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Godfrey House announces his passing at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre, Port Saunders, on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Alma, daughter Norma, grandson Borje (Ingrid) of Edmonton; great-grandsons Austin and Cody; brothers Maxwell (Vivian) and Lloyd (Anna), Bellburns; and sister Bessie (Donald) Perry, Daniel’s Harbour. He was predeceased by his parents Austin and Bethiah, brothers Gordon and wife Marion, Harold and wife Nellie. Visitation was held at St. Aiden’s Anglican Church, Bellburns, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service was held on Monday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Bellburns. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to St. Aiden’s Anglican Church memorial fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca

DAVIS, WILLIAM
St. Julien’s

Passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Centre on Aug. 28, age 82 years. Leaving to mourn his friends, and predeceased by his parents Martin and Veronica Davis; two brothers Frank and Les; sister Elsie, and common-law partner Dorothy Bartlett. Visitation was held at St. Williams Roman Catholic Church in St.Julien’s from where the funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept.1, 2008, with Fr. Rogers officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony.

FENNEMORE, BENJAMIN A. (LEE)
St. Anthony

Passed away at the John M. Gray Centre on Aug. 30, 2008, age 85 years. Leaving to mourn son William (Shirley), grandson Rick (Peggy) and great grandson Ryan. He is also survived by his brother John (Harriet) and a special niece Lee Payne (Bruce); friend Stella Compton and a number of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Lee was predeceased by his parents William and Rhoda, his wife Julia, as well as brothers Bill and Dan. He will be sadly missed. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony. The funeral service was held at the United Church in St. Anthony at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, with Rev. McGonigle officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
