STONE, JACK (JOHN REDMOND)
Aug 31, 1956 - Aug 1, 2004

Passed away on Aug 1, 2004 in Calgary Alberta, Jack Stone of St. Anthony in his 47th year. He leaves to mourn brothers Herbert, Don, Raymond, Rod and Harvey; sisters Margaret Micheals, Effie Stone, Eva Laing (Jack’s birth mother) and Nellie Larkham; half-siblings of the Laing family brother Micheal Laing and sister Kim MacGillivary, as well and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Agnes Stone and sister Judy Stone. Visitation took place at the funeral home on West Street. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug 4 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Jean Brenton-Hickman officiating. Internment followed in the church cemetery. Flowers were graciously accepted or donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

COMPTON, JABEZ
St. Lunaire

Passed away at John M. Grey Centre, St. Anthony on Aug 3, 2004, Jabez Compton, age 79 years of St. Lunaire. Leaving to mourn brothers Harvey (Lizzie), Elwyn (Beatrice) and Ralph (Evelyn); sisters Lucy Earle (Everett) and Winnie Ings (Aubrey), also a large circle or relatives and friends. Visitation was held at Calvary Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral service took place on Friday, Aug 6 at 2 p.m. with Pastors Hayward Primmer and Barry Pelley officiating. Internment followed in the church cemetery. Flowers or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

BUCHANAN, CATHERINE NEWELL
St. Anthony

It is with great sadness that the family announce her passing at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Aug 10, 2004. She was in her 77th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories husband William; daughter Louise Reid (Rick) of Oromocto, New Brunswick; daughter-in-law Martha Newell; grandchildren Carla Newell(Boyd Abbott), Zack Newell, Catherine(Katie) Buchanan and Liam Reid; step grandchildren Danielle Reid and Holden Reid; sister Marion Suley of Gander; sister-in-law Muriel Newell, and brother-in-law Eric Winter of Valleyfield, as well as a number of nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. Pallbearers were Wilfred Boyd, Pearce Patey, Selwyn Strangemore, Guy Straangemore, Neil Simms, and Leonard Patey. She was predeceased by her parents John and Louisa Newell, son Barry, sisters Margaret Newell, Olive Norman and Drucilla Winter, and brother John Newell. The family recieved friends at the funeral home on West Street. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug 12 at St. Anthony United Church with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Internment followed in the church cemetery at Fishing Point. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillater Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

GIBBONS, DEBORAH - Feb. 18, 1915 - Aug 15, 2004
It is with great sadness that the family of Deborah Gibbons announce her passing at John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Aug. 15, 2004. She leaves to mourn her sons Chesley (Virginia), Wilga (Irene) and Reginald (Sharon); daughters Elva (Wilson) and Maryann; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister Winnie; brother James, as well as a circle of other family and friends. Deborah was predeceased by her husband Samuel and son Reginald. The funeral service was held at St. Mary’s Church in Black Duck Cove at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17. Internment followed in the cemetery on Current Island. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K. M. Fillatre funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

RUMBOLT, MARY DOROTHY - Castor River South
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Rumbolt announce her passing on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 at the age of 69 years. She leaves to mourn her husband John; children Gerard (Maisie), Finton (Marie), Sheena (Stanley) Tatchell, Lewis (Lucy), Pamela (Sheldon) Wells, Melita (Tony) Caines and Sandra (Michael) Ryan; grandchildren Dena, Aaron, Diana, Nicole, Preston, Zitz, Alexa, Shelby, Kristy, Michaela and Melinie; great-granchildren Alex and Alayna; sisters Laura Gaulton, Cecilia Rumbolt, Geraldine Scanlon, Naomie Rumbolt, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. The family recieved friends at Queen of the Angels Roman Catholic Church in Castor River South on Wednesday from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20 with Fr. Jack Malnegro officiating. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

WAY, ISRAEL MAXWELL - Flowers Cove - Mar. 19, 1923 - Aug 20, 2004
It is with great sadness that the family of Maxwell Way announce his passing at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Aug. 20, 2004 at the age of 81 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Mabel; sons Alvin (Vera), Don (Anne), Bruce (Sandra) and Lewis; daughter-in-law Elva (the late Angus); 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers Abraham (Rosland) of Corner Brook and Grant(Entille) of St. John’s; sisters Alma (the late Lester) Penney of St. Anthony and Bertha (Montrose) Genge of Flowers Cove; special nephew Dr. Cliff (Betty) Way of Hamilton, and niece Millie (Bill) Simms of St. Anthony, as well as a circle of other relatives and friends. Mack was predeceased by his father and mother Augustus and Susanna, brothers Stewart, Aubrey, Pierce and Henry, sisters Josie, Pearl and Ella. The funeral service was held at the United Church in Flowers Cove at 2 p.m. on Monday Aug 23. Internment followed in the United Church Cemetery in flowers Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

WIGHT, RENDELL ARTHUR - Rocky Harbour
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rendell Arthur Wight announce his passing on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in Norris Point at the age of 83 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 59 years Melvina; daughters Lillian Watts of Brampton, Ontario, Daisy (Raymond) Brown of Hawkes Bay and Judy Wight of Rocky Harbour; sons David (Margaret) of Rocky Harbour and Irving (Melanie) of Vancouver; grandchildren Doreen (Cory), Sheldon, Barry, Todd, Cindy, Tanya (Stephen), Tara (Mark), Shelley, Dawn (Cory), Troy, Danielle and Lacey; great-grandchildren Brent, Dana, Kristen, Courtney, Jillian and Alyssa; sisters Bertha Payne, Beulah Pittman and Brenda (Gerald) Major; brothers John (Latissa) and James(Dorothy), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by son Keith, son-in-law Cyril, brothers Chesley, Hayward, Simeon and sister Emma. The family received friends at Maranatha Pentecostal Church in Rocky Harbour on Sunday from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug 23, with Pastor Roy Randell and Capt. Dwayne Ledrew officiating. Internment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Deer Lake.

SCANLON, JEREMIAH - June 13, 1931 - Aug 25, 2004
It is with great sadness that the family of Jeremiah Scanlon announce his passing at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Wednesday, Aug 25, 2004 in his 73rd year. He leaves to mourn his brothers John (Effie) and Joseph (Marion); sisters Susan Thynne (Robert), Haonora Newcombe, Forence Johnson and Rita Offrey; nieces; nephews, and a large circle of other family and friends. Jeremiah was predeceased by his father Joseph, mother Mary Ann and brother Elias. The family recieved friends at Sacred heart church in Bartlett’s Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28 with Fr. Jack Malnegro officiating. Internment followed in Bartlett’s Harbour Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.
