ANDERSON, Judith
Passed on: April 1st, 2015

Passed away peacefully at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 1st day of April, 2015, Mrs. Judith Anderson of St. Anthony in her 55th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Dwight; daughter Amy (Gerry); father Clarus Barney; mother Sarah Barney; brother Arthur (Karen); brother Timothy (Caren); mother-in-law Pearl Anderson; brother-in-law James (Ann); sister-in-law Audrey (Tabi), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was predeceased by her father-in-law Alfred Anderson. Visitation took place at the funeral home in St. Anthony after which the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 6 at St. Mary's Anglican Church with Rev. Fr. Paul Findlay officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

APPLIN, Edgar Jr.
Passed on: April 30th, 2015

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 30th of April, 2015, Mr. Edgar Applin Jr. of Pigeon Cove in his 86th year. He leaves to mourn with loving memories his children Leona (Cliff), Fanny Ann (Harold), Ches (Pearl), Gideon (Mary), Everett (Elaine) and Myrtle (Roland), his 10 grandchildren Ann (Ken), Jamie (Shelly), Vanessa (Chuck), Boyd (Heidi), Ricky (Jennifer), Johnny, Mandy (Wade), Shane (Gina), Keirsten (Brandon) and Elgin; 10 great-grandchildren Michael, Alyson, Nikala, Alexis, Anna, Joshua, Taylor, Aria, Kayleigh, and Tori; three brothers; three sisters, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Rita, his children Edgar Jr., Dale and Myles, his parents Edgar Sr. and Fanny Ann, four brothers and one sister. Visitation took place at the Edgar Applin Sr. Memorial United Church in Pigeon Cove from where the funeral service was held on Monday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Interment followed at the United Cemetery in Black Duck Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

CANNING, Hilda Martha
Passed on: April 15th, 2015

Passed peacefully away at the White Bay Central Health Centre on the 15th day of April, 2015, Mrs. Hilda Martha Canning of Roddickton, in her 80th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters Wynita (Benson) Randell, Ottawa, Ontario, Loretta (Aiden) Byrne, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Emma (John) Reardon, Lisa (Roger) Budden, and Denise Canning, all of Roddickton; son Roger Canning, Roddickton; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur, son Lomond Canning, daughter Margaret Clements, parents Benjamin and Eliza Randell. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 19 with Rev. Christopher Hewlett officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

COLES, Alonzo
Passed on: April 9th, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mr. Alonzo Coles of Flowers Cove announces his sudden passing at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 9th day of April, 2015, in his 54th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his common-law wife Beatrice Allingham; her children Todd (Samantha), Tyson (Vanessa) and Ashley; his parents Arch and Hazaroth; brother Ivan (Betty); sister Beatrice (Boyce) Short; sister-in-law Daphene, as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Arch Jr. and John, and sister Susie Eileen. Visitation took place at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Flowers Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 with Rev. Irving Letto officiating. Interment followed in the Anglican Cemetery in Savage Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

GENGE, Pearce
Passed on: April 14th, 2015

Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 14th day of April, 2015, Mr. Pearce Genge of Anchor Point, in his 84th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his sons Edmund (Anita), Arthur (Laverne), and Pius (Linda); daughter Marina (Gilbert); grandchildren Mark (Deanne), Glenn (Danielle), Natasha (Dwayne), Noreen (Trevor), Jason (Tammy), Ashley (Tracy), Michael (Chantalle), Cyndi (Dane), Laura (Robby), Chantel (Whyman), and Christi (Will); great-grandchildren Joshua, Jorden, Matthew, Carter, Brady, Chloe, Owen, Damon, Kelia, Abby, Parker, Carson, Leah, Ty, Aden, Olivia, and Easton; sister Josie Sinnicks (Jacob-deceased); sisters-in-law Ida (Thomas-deceased) and family, Renie Genge and family as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wives Stella and Laurie, his parents Arthur and Sarah, brothers and sisters Laurie, Rachel, Douglas (Deborah), George, Emanuel (Dora), Garfield and Margaret Sheppard (Pierce). Visitation was held at the St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 17 with Rev. Irving Letto officiating. Interment followed in the old Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

McLEAN, Sadie Belle
Born: May 15th, 1919
Passed on: April 27th, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sadie Belle McLean of Green Island Cove announces her passing into peace at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, on the 27th of April, 2015 in her 95th year. Sadie leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Wilfred, Eldred (Lydia), Selby (Cicely), Maitland (Dorothy), Lillian (John Peyton), Mona, Fanny (Pammy Gill), Rowena (Terry Oake), Percy, Barry (Jackie), Rhoda (Kenny Coffey), and Bruce (Sylvia); daughter-in-law Kay; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law Susie Noseworthy. She was predeceased by her parents Eli William and Sarah, her husband Percy, son Sidney, daughters-in-law, Kitty and Judy, son-in-law Isaac and grandsons Jeffrey and Brian. Visitation was held at the St. Andrews Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral service was conducted on the Thursday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marlene Harvey and layperson Penney McLean officiating. Burial followed the service in the Green Island Cove Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

SIMMS, Violet Pearl
Passed on: April 15th, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mrs. Violet Simms of Main Brook announces her passing on the 15th day of April, 2015. She was in her 79th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Larry (Louise), Lois (William), and Lorne (Julie); her grandchildren Andrea, Jessica, Karen, Meghan, Michelle, Malissa, Alexander, and Leighton; brothers Hubert Tucker (Phyllis) and Charles Tucker (Mona); sister-in-law Adelaide; sister by choice Sadie Stevens, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband George Simms and her brother Raymond Tucker. Visitation was held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, April 21 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Reg Skinner officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.

STEVENS, George William
Passed on: April 7th, 2015

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on the 7th day of April, 2015, Mr. George William Stevens of Flowers Cove in his 78th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories Annie Rose and family; Ross Stevens and family; Marie Stevens and family; Alvin Norman and family, as well as many friends and relatives. He was predeceased by parents Elijah and Elizabeth, brother Robert, and sisters Dora and Madeline. Visitation took place at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Flowers Cove from where the service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11 with Rev. Irving Letto. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Savage Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
