PLOWMAN, GEORGE
Port Saunders

It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Plowman announce his passing at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Monday, April 1, 2002. He was in his 57th year. Leaving to mourn wife Mary; sons Monte Veronica) of Port Saunders and Jordan (Lana) of Burnaby, BC; granddaughter Madison Mary; brother Daniel (Norma); sisters Blanche Coles, Anne (Michael) Caines and Marion John) Ryan of Port Saunders; brother-in-law Martin (Ina) Lavers of Dawson Creek, BC; sisters-in-law Evelyn (George) Gould, Kay (Loraine) Hamlyn, Marilyn (Jody) Dobbin of Port Saunders, Chris (Philip) Johnson of Yellowknife, NWT, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Dulcie and Guy, baby sister Millie, very special mother and father-in-law Moses and Ella Lavers, sister-in-law Christina Lavers. The family received friends from St. Joseph 's Catholic Church in Port Saunders from where the funeral service took place on April 4 at 2 p.m. with Fr. Terry officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery in Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

BARNEY, LEONARD
L'Anse au Loup

Passed peacefully away at Notre Dame Hospital in Lourdes du Blanc Sablon, Quebec on April 1, 2002 in his 51st year. Leaving to mourn wife Greta; daughters Tanya (husband Freeman) and Carla; son Cordell (fiancee Roslyn); grandchildren Daniel, Naomi and Marissa; mother, Mrs. Mary Barney; sisters Iris, Marilyn, Sheila, Ruth and Jean; sister-in-law Margie; nephew Neil, as well as other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by son Keith, brother John and father Wilfred. Visitation took place at the Gospel Hall in L'Anse au Loup from where the funeral service took place on April 4 with Rev. Bert Joyce officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

STRANGEMORE, GRAHAM
St. Anthony

Passed away suddenly on April 3, 2002 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 59. Leaving to mourn wife Sheila; stepsons Liam, Curtis (Angela), Cory (Christina) and David; parents Seaton and Marjorie Strangemore; brothers Vernon, Eldon, Byron (Alice) and Barry (Regina); sisters Juanita (Melvin) and Linda (Garry); sister-in-law Victoria; grandchildren Logan, Raaii, Francis and Philip; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by brothers Winston and Kevin, and sister-in-law Eileen. The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on April 5 from St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home on West Street . Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

PILGRIM, VERNA
Griquet

Passed peacefully away at her late residence in Griquet on April 4, 2002. She was in her 77th year. Leaving to mourn husband Aubrey; children Nellie (Wilson) Lilly, Pearl (Eric) Lilly, Dorothy (Wallace) Lilly, Netta (Wilson) Hughes, Francis (Bernetta), Derek (Marsha), Madge (Robert) Green, Alick (Wavey), Marie (Randy) Compton, Percy (Michelle), Dale (Roxanne Murrin), Melva (Walter Sugar) and Barry (Lisa Temple); 27 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers Allan Manuel and Ford Manuel; and a circle of relatives and friends. Visitaion was held at the Salvation Army Church in Griquet from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on April 7 followed by interment in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to K.M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Wilfred Hutchings, funeral director.

LAVERS, CORA JANE
Port Saunders

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cora Lavers announce her passing at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Thursday, April 18, 2002. She was in her 85th year. Leaving to mourn sons Norbert (Laverne), Edward (Phyllis), Adelor (Nita) and Macavoy Jr. (Mildred) of Port Saunders, Alfred (Sue) and Herbert of Ontario, and Pius (Nora) of Castor River; daughters Odilia (Joe) Ryan of Port Saunders, Leona Snow, Rachel (Spencer) Darrigan and Zeta (Brian) Dyke of Corner Brook, Doreen (Gordon) Aucoin of St. George's, Cynthia (Shaun) Murphy of Nova Scotia and Selma Knott of Ontario; son-in-law Tim Vanwyck; 48 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Macavoy, daughters Ellen and Debbie, and sons-inlaw Bernard and Walter. The family received friends at St. Joseph 's Roman Catholic Church in Port Saunders from where the funeral service took place on Monday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m with Father Terry officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery in Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made to the Diabetic or Heart and Stroke Foundations. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

MARCH, ELSIE (NEE BROOKINGS)
Corner Brook

Passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2002 at the age of 86 years. Elsie was born in Green's Harbour, Trinity Bay, NF. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Cyril, and a large loving family: Joan Rowe (Stan) of Green's Harbour, Max (Clara) of Rochester, AB, Frank (Rose) of Pasadena, Jerry (Sybil) of Burlington, ON; Linda Piercey (Lloyd) of Corner Brook, Lorraine Conway (John) of Warkworth, ON, Ruth Murphy (John) of Calgary, AB and Marilyn Whalen of Edmonton, AB; sister Gladys Smith of St. John's; sisters-inlaw Dorothy Vincent of St. John's and Hillary Brookings of Green's Harbour; brother-in-law Walter March of Corner Brook; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews, and many friends who are left to mourn and remember lovingly this wonderful lady. Visitation was held at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue. A celebration of Elsie's life was held on Tuesday, April 23 at 3 p.m. at the First United Church, Park Street with Reverend John Adams officiating, followed by interment at the United Cemetery, Townsite. As expressions of s sympathy, donations may be made to the Diabetic Association or to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Corner Brook.

TATCHELL, STANLEY
Castor River North

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stanley Tatchell announce his passing at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre on Monday, April 22, 2002. He was in his 69th year. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Eudora; children Gloria (Ronald), Stanley Jr. (Sheena), Stewart (Eliza), Walter, Milton (Wavey), Robert (Effie) and Viola (Woodrow); grandchildren Cory, Kylie, Abby, Diana, Nicole, Joshua, Christopher, Scott, Keristen, Austin and Brittany, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. The family received friends at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Chapel at Castor River North from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, April 24 at 2 p.m. with Father Jack officiating. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Bartlett 's Harbour. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

PITTMAN, MARTIN LEONARD
Bird Cove
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Martin Pittman announce his passing on Thursday, April 25, 2002. He was in his 39th year. Leaving to mourn his parents Primus and Irene; brothers Thomas (Ciara), Primus (Annette), and Desmond (Tammy) all of Bird Cove, and Dennis (Janet) of Port au Choix; sisters Lilly (Angus) Caines of Bird Cove, Nellie (Wally) Wood of St. John's, Theresa (Primus) Young of Plum Point and Sharon (David) Chambers of Blue Cove, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. The family received friends at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Bird Cove from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, April 30 at 11 a.m. with Father Jack officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix/Bear Cove.

PITTMAN, ANSON PAUL
Bird Cove

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Anson Pittman announce his passing on Thursday, April 25, 2002. He was in his 23rd year. Leaving to mourn very special friend Kelly Stevens; son Cody; parents Theresa and Primus Young; brother Wesley; grandparents Primus and Irene Pittman and Wallace and Elizabeth Young, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. The family received friends at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Bird Cove from where the funeral service took place on Tuesday, April 30 at 11 a.m. with Father Jack officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix/Bear Cove.
