BATTEN, Douglas
(August 13, 1935 - October 6, 2008)
Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Complex, St. John's after a long and courageous battle for life, at the age of 73 years, retired Postmaster, former Mayor of Glenwood, and Past Master of Landfall Lodge AF & AM. Leaving to mourn, are his devoted and loving wife of 48 years, Lorraine; son, Philip (Jane); daughters, Beverly and Kimberley (Elan); brother, Walter; sisters, Doris (Ron), Laura, Evelyn (Alf) and Elsie; grandchildren, Orion, Aaron, Nicholas, Kyle, Kameron, Alex, Antoine and Ariane and a large circle of relatives and friends. The Funeral service was held on Thursday, October 9th at 2:00 pm from the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Wing's Point, Gander Bay. As expressions of Sympathy, donations to the Anglican Church Cemetery Fund will gratefully be accepted.

BENNETT, Hubert
(May 21, 1930 - October 28, 2008)
Passed away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on October 28th, Mr. Hubert Bennett, formally of Horwood, age 78 years. The funeral service was held on Friday, October 31st at 2:00 pm from the Salvation Army Church, Horwood. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully accepted.
