It is with profound sadness the family of Roy Elliott share news of his passing on March 5 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL aged 78 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his wife, Donna of 51 years, daughter, Joanne (Lloyd), sons, David and Michael, and grandchildren, Logan, Cole, Lauren, Zachary and Makenna. Born the youngest of seven children to Job and Theresa (Brinson) Elliott, Roy was the last surviving member of his family. Born in Loon Bay, Roy spent his early years working in Churchill Falls, Goose Bay and across the Island, employed as a diver, welder and heavy equipment operator. Self-employed for most of his working career, Roy owned and operated a road construction company. When he wasn't in the cab of his D6C or other piece of equipment, he could be found in his garage, his second home. Roy was an avid traveller and outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, spending time in Millertown, Shipbuilder's Pond, Second Pond, and with his in-laws, Debbie and Randy at their cabin, with Donna always by his side. Married on March 5, 1965, they were together at the end. Roy was a loving husband and father, and his grandchildren were his great delight. He enjoyed the view from his "Ponderosa," reading, listening to Ellis Coles, and spending time with family and friends, near and far. Roy lived life to the fullest. He will forever be missed and always in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Loon Bay United Church Cemetery fund.
