MERCER BARRON ROACH Evening Telegram November 18, 1909 (Thursday) 27 Years Ago. This date, 1882, three men named respectively, Patrick Barron, St. John's; John Roach, Torbay; and Matthew Mercer, Topsail, were killed in a railway accident at Indian Pond. The injured men were: John Ryan (the present City Engineer), W. Ryan, J. Molloy and J. Whelan.
