WARREN, Elsie (Whittle)
The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, September 25, 2020
Elsie (Whittle) Warren
, aged 76, passed away in the morning of September 21, 2020 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born May 17, 1944, in St. John's, N.L., she was a daughter of Cyril and Beatrice (Eddy) Whittle. Elsie grew up in St. John's and later moved to Dartmouth, with her husband Reginald. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister and will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Elsie was a kind and generous Personal Care Worker at Oceanview Manor for many years. Her dedication to the clients were shown by volunteering to take clients who didn't have regular visitors on outings on her days off. She enthusiastically took part in the talent shows at the manor, singing and dressing up as Rita MacNeil. Elsie was the past president of the residents' association for her apartment complex and loved planning activities for everyone who lived there.

She was a devoted mother who thought the world of her son. Of everything she did, she excelled most at being a loving grandmother. Her grandchildren spent many nights having sleepovers, going to movies, going for trips to Penhorn Mall, laughing and being rocked in the rocking chair. She was delighted to become a great-grandmother in June and loved to hold and cuddle her great-grandson. Her grandchildren will make sure he knows what a wonderful great-grandmother he had, if only for a short time. Elsie is survived by her son, Jim (Janet) Warren; grandchildren, Jessica (Nick) Hart and Jared Warren; great-grandson, Cameron Hart; sister, Marguerite Murphy; brother, Kevin (Veronica) Whittle, and sister-in-law, Hazel Whittle. Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Reg Warren; brothers, Doug, Bernard, Jim, Cec, Cyril and Bill Whittle; and sisters, Mary Furlong and Dot Ryan. The family of Elsie Warren would like to extend a thank you to the wonderful staff in the ICU at Dartmouth General Hospital. Special thanks to Emma, Bree, Natasha, Tanya, and Andrea. As a breast cancer survivor Elsie supported the Canadian Cancer Society so we ask that donations be made there in lieu of flowers. A private service will be held. Online condolences may be viewed or sent to: www.mattatallfuneralhome.com
