The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, December 14, 2019

Age 77 years of Trenholm Lake Road, Brookfield, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2019 in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, surrounded by the love of his family. Kevin was born on September 9, 1942 in Little Saint Lawrence, N.L., to the late Archibald and Dorothy (Turpin) Clarke. Kevin worked all across Canada, but he always yearned for the Maritimes. Kevin enjoyed a 33-year career as a member of the RCMP, with postings in Ontario, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia from which he retired. He counted many of his previous colleagues among his closet friends. Kevin was a fun-loving, gifted storyteller with a constant smile. Hockey, running, and fishing were among his favorite activities. Kevin was also a graceful ballroom dancer and he and Rosalynd danced often. Travel became a fundamental part of their retirement life. Camping locally became a Nova Scotia passion as well.

Kevin will be forever loved by his wife, Rosalynd and children, Shawn (Sue), Shannon-Lee (Mike), Melody (Richard), Sherwyn, and Darren (Charlene). Kevin will be missed by his grandchildren, Paisley, Cole, Ceilidh, Nicole, Cherise, Derryk, Hannah and Zara. He will also be remembered fondly by his godchild, Nora, and her brother Isaac. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Margaret Aylward and Donna Kendell; brothers, Peter, Alphonsus (Theresa), Adrian (Gloria) and Brendan (Lise). In addition to his parents, Kevin was predeceased by his first wife, Carol; and his sisters, Laura and Delores.

A funeral mass will take place in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince St., in Truro on Tuesday, December 17th at 11 a.m. Father Darius Miskowicz will officiate with a reception to follow in Campbell Hall. All are welcome to attend. Interment will be held at a later date. Family flowers only. GARDNER, Jeanette Vivian
The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, December 16, 2019
1924 - 2019

Jeanette was born in 1924, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Belle Powell of Victoria Carbonear, N.L. Along came the Second World War, and in 1944, she fell in love with a handsome Canadian sailor, Albert Edward Gardner of Halifax. A year later, on June 19, 1945, they were married in Halifax. Thus began their lively and loving relationship for 55 years. Jeanette is survived by sons, Nicholas and Philip; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Jeanette lived as any true Newfoundlander does, always striving for her and Albert to get ahead and make a success of their lives. For example, she delighted in roughing it as a Boy Scout leader and received her Wood Badge in 1958. Determined not to be outdone, she always wanted to be considered an "Educated Woman" and began attending university in the 1970's and graduated in 1978 with her BA in English from Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax. As she would say, "after the boys were out of the nest", Albert and Jeanette built a retirement home in New Minas, golfing all summer, and wintering in Florida and Victoria, B.C., only putting down the clubs at the age of 85. Lastly, it can be said that her church was the other pillar of her life. She was a devoted member of the United Church of Canada from the day she was married in Halifax in 1945 until her death.

A private committal service will be held in WillowBank Cemetery, Wolfville. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or to Orchard Valley United Church, New Minas.
