Her greatest pride was her family. She taught her four girls what it was to love without reservation and how to live each moment with joy, taking nothing for granted. When at home she could often be found in her favourite rubber boots, gardening gloves or fishing rod in hand. She loved hats of every type, colour and shape. She treasured her Frenchys visits with Tina, her berry picking with Phyllis and her road trips with Ralph. Liz had a smile that lit up a room and a grin that said, I am up to mischief. She was always up for anything that involved laughter and never lost her sense of humour. Liz is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ralph; her daughters, Theresa Cooke, Nancy MacKenzie (Phillip), Helen O'Brien (Andrew); beloved grandchildren, Martina, Adam, Megan, Jordan, Kalie, Connor, Sawyer, Ian, Sean and Faith as well as many great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her father, Adrian; her sisters, Tina, Suzanne, Bernadine, Cathy and Michelle; her brothers, Adrian, David, Tommy and Eugene; sister-in-law, Phyllis and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Debra Olmstead; her mother Bernadine Murphy, her brother, Daniel Murphy; her mother-in-law, Anna Cooke as well as her father-in-law, Perley Cooke. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving care that both Liz and Ralph received during the three years when Liz lived at Debert Court and in particular, her last precious days. Online condolences by visiting: www.dartmouthfuneralhome.ca LAKE, Peter Joseph Peter was a man who touched many hearts and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He started fishing in Newfoundland at the age of 17 before moving to the mainland. He took "a chance" when he didn't even know what it meant. That "chance" was to go fishing on deck, and later Dad worked his way up to being one of the best engineers on the scallop fleet in Lunenburg. He then took another "chance" when he landed the job of engineer for the (BIO) Canadian Coast Guard for 13 years. While he was physically away from home, his heart and presence were always felt. Dad decided to retired at the age of 64, but it wasn't long before he got bored at home, so he volunteer for 15 years with the Ground Search and Rescue of Lunenburg County. Being a self-taught engineer he was always ready to tackle any obstacle thrown his way. Dad was always ready with a joke at hand and had an infectious sense of humour. He was the definition of a family man and had only love to give to all. Visitation will be held today, Friday, August 23rd from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 35 York St., Bridgewater. A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24th in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater. A reception will be held following the service in St. Joseph's Parish Center. Interment will be held in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater following the reception. Donations can be made to Lunenburg County Ground Search and Rescue or Heart and Stroke Foundatio of Nova Scotia. Family flowers only please. The family would also like to thank the staff at Queens General Hospital in Liverpool.
