After retirement, he brought his knowledge and experience to CFB Gander and CFB Cornwallis where he coordinated the establishment of the Military Family Resource Centres on those bases. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband and father. Captain Thomas Northcott, born June 25, 1923, in Norris Point, Newfoundland, was the son of the late Theopholius and Annie (Knott) Northcott. Tom had a fine sense of humour which warmed all those who were blessed to know him and work with him. His interesting work history took him to locations around the world. Tom's love of boats and respect for the power of the seas served him well as he capably served on convoys across the North Atlantic and was a distinguished veteran of the Merchant Marine. Following World War II, Tom became a resident of Halifax and progressed to the rank of Captain with the Royal Canadian Naval Auxiliary on ships in HMC Dockyard Halifax.

He was an avid carpenter and loved hunting and fishing in Newfoundland. Tom spent many summers camping around Nova Scotia with family and friends and loved the fiddling music of Cape Breton and Newfoundland. Tom and Donna spent many winters in Florida golfing and socializing with their family and friends from Canada and the USA.

Tom is survived by Donna (Payne), his loving wife of 40 years, and was predeceased by Mary Florence ( MacIsaac), his devoted first wife of 25 years.
