ENGLISH, Carl Boyd Anthony
(September 14, 1947 - September 3, 2015)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Carl English announces his passing at his residence in Doyles on September 3 at the age of 67 years. He was the son of the late Rodrick John, Doyles, NL & Louise Ethel (nee Chaulk), Charlottetown, NL. He was also predeceased by his sister Louise (Frank) Tavanti and niece Peggy Sue. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children Tonya (Lorne), Darren and Carl English; grand-daughter Cassidy all of Doyles NL; Brothers and Sisters Jim English, Port aux Basques NL, John (Alice), Doyles NL Charles Halifax NS, David, Fredericton NB, and Gary Moncton NB; Nieces Laura, Lorna, Sarah; Nephews Jay, Wesley, and Matthew plus a circle of aunts and uncles and many friends. Visitation took place on Sunday, September 6 beginning in the morning at Church of The Precious Blood, St. Andrew's. Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday, September 7 at 10:30 am from Church of The Precious Blood with Father James officiating. Cremation to follow and interment of ashes will take place at the Mount St. Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery, Great Codroy at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. FIANDER, Alton Reginald
(April 14, 1960 - September 17, 2015)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alton (Reginald) Fiander announces his passing at St. Claire's Mercy Hospital in St. John's, NL on September 17 at the age of 55 years. He was the son of the late Eric Duncan Fiander, Rose Blanche, NL. He was also predeceased by his brother Bruce; nephew Lee Buckland; niece Emily Buckland; grandparents Rosie and Ward Harris, Victor and Margret Jane Fiander. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his mother; Katherine Fiander, Rose Blanche, NL; children; Joshua, Shana (Kevin) and Holly (Ryan); brother John Fiander; sister Karen Buckland; grandchildren Colton, Christian and Caleb; Nieces and nephews Eric Fiander, Megan Fiander, Bruce (Jody) Buckland, Ethan, Allie, Alexis (Jeremey) Keeping, Andrew, Victoria, and Liam Buckland plus a circle of aunts and uncles and many friends. In Keeping with Alton's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation took place on Tuesday, September 22 from 2-4 pm from East Haven Funeral Home with service to follow officiated by Lieutenants Christopher & Tonia Street. Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. HYNES, Audrey Sophia
(September 29, 1950 - September 23, 2015)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Audrey Sophia Hynes announces her passing at the Dr Charles L. Legrow Health Centre on September 23, 2015 at the age of 64 years. She was predeceased by her husband Wilson Hynes; parents William and Irene Bobbett; daughter Tammy Hynes; brother Philip Bobbett; and brother-in-law Lewis Battiste. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Bernadine (Robert) of Port aux Basques, NL and son Jamie Hynes of Fort McMurry, Alberta; sisters Mary Battiste and Bernadine Hoskins (Jerome); brothers Elroy (Linda) Bobbett and Ken (Cluda) Bobbett; seven grandchildren Wilson, Della, Sheldine, Jamie, Tommy, Nicole, and Caitlyn, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Saturday, September 26 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, Sunday, September 27 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Monday, September 28, 2pm at the Salvation Army Citadel with Lieutenants Christopher & Tonia Street officiating. Interment followed at Salvation Army Cemetery, Port aux Basques, NL. Flowers graciously accepted and donations may be made to the family. LaFOSSE, Roberta
(January 5, 1933 - September 12, 2015)
On September 12, 2015, while surrounded by her family at the Long Term Care Facility in the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Center, Roberta LaFosse peacefully left this world at the age of 82. Roberta was born in 1933 in Isle aux Morts to the late Llewellyn and Rosanna Coleman. She married the late John (Jack) LaFosse in 1950 and raised Ralph (Lorna) LaFosse, Margaree, NL, Linda (Scott) Roberts, Cache Creek, BC, Christopher (Lisa) LaFosse, Ottawa, ON, and Eleanor (Lindy) Edison, Dryden, ON, with a loving and gentle hand. One of her favorite things was to be surrounded by family for mealtime, whether it was for a holiday or special celebration, or a normal Sunday dinner. She loved to sit and listen to the banter and story-telling that occurred during a meal around the table. She treasured the time that friends and family would take to visit her for conversation. She also loved her telephone as a way of keeping contact with all of her family and friends over the years; calls to and from "Mom" and "Nan" will be one thing that we will dearly miss. Memories will be cherished by Roberta's extended family: grandchildren, step- and great-grandchildren Margo (Shawn) Leamon, Guy (Amanda) LaFosse, Jacqueline (Cory) Munden, Randy Roberts, Dale Organ, Christian LaFosse, Jacob Littlejohn, Marcy and Rowan Leamon, Nick (Holly) Tucker, Ayla LaFosse, Lauren, Chloe, and Sophia Munden, Reese Minifie, Skylar Roberts; brothers and sisters Wallace Coleman, Kenneth (Carrie) Coleman, Isle aux Morts, NL, Marjorie Fredette, Montreal, QC, Raymond (Valerie) Coleman, Red Deer, AB; sisters-in-law Alma Neil, Port aux Basques, NL, Aggie Coleman, Louisbourg, NS; best friends Becky Billard, roommate Eileen Sheaves; plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Roberta was predeceased by her brother Wesley Coleman; sisters Leta (Edward) Fedoruk, Dulcie (Freeman) Green; brothers-in-law Bill Neil, Roger Fredette, Ralph and Charles LaFosse; sister-in-law Winnie Coleman. Visitation took place on Sunday and Monday from St. Augustine's Church in Margaree. Funeral services took place on Tuesday, September 15, 2 PM with Rev. Maryrose Colburne officiating. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, TCH. Donations in lieu of flowers will be endowed to Roberta's daughter Linda to aid in medical expenses incurred while her husband receives cancer treatment in Kelowna, BC. MUSSEAU, Dorothy
(July 1, 1932 - September 11, 2015)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy (Dot) Musseau announces her passing at the Dr Charles L. Legrow Health Centre on September 11, 2015 at the age of 83 years. She was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Bertha Warren. She was also predeceased by her husband Roy; sisters Annie Porter and Elizabeth Kanes; brother Garland Warren; mother and father-in-law Joseph and Alma Musseau; plus many sisters and brothers in laws. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons Garland (Irene), Calvin (Rose), Tony (Wanda), Barry (Darlene), Jeff (Diane); daughters Deloras (Melvin) Carter, Christine (Don) Purchase; plus 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren who she loved dearly; good friend Jim; her caregivers Natasha Gale and Desiree Strickland who went above and beyond to care for our mom. Visitation took place on Sunday, September 13 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, Monday, September 14 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Tuesday, September 15, 11 AM with Rev. Clayton Billard officiating. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, TCH. PEARCE, Maggie Harriett
(December 24, 1931 - September 5, 2015)
Maggie Harriett Pearce (nee Poole) age 83. Born December 24, 1931 in McCallum, Hermitage Bay, NL to the late James & Mary Poole, moved to Port aux Basques in 1951 as a teacher in the Grand Bay School. Eventually she worked many years as a cook at Hotel Port aux Basques which she enjoyed because of the lifelong friendships she had formed. She was predeceased by her husband Ray, daughter Paula, son-in-law Keith Miller, brothers Ralph (Queena) Poole, Winston (Evelyn) Poole, sisters Anne (Alex) Spencer, and Charlotte (John) Cornish. She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her sons Gregg (Loretta) Pearce Port aux Basques, Bruce (Carrie) Pearce Windsor ON, and Dan Pearce Roberts Arm NL, daughters Rosalie Miller Dartmouth NS, and Connie (Todd) Guenther Victoria BC, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren plus a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation took place on Sunday, September 6 from 7-9 pm and Monday, September 7 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm from East Haven Funeral Home Inc., Port aux Basques, NL. Funeral services took place on Tuesday, September 8 at 11:00 am from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay with Rev. Steven Maki officiating. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maggie's memory may be made to the St. Paul's Anglican Church Stained Glass Fund. PITTMAN, Stanley Philip
(October 5, 1925 - September 15, 2015)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Stan Pittman after a lengthy illness at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on September 15 at the age of 89 years. He was the son of the late Mary & Walter Pittman. He was also predeceased by his wife Hilda, his son Carl, grandson Stephen, brothers John, Augustus, Sidney and Frederick and sister Myrtle. Left to mourn his loving companion Verna, children Mildred (Laurence), Loretta (Max), Wayne (Bev), Lorraine (Mike), Elaine (Calvin), Harold (Laureen), Colleen, Rodney, Jennifer, and Joanie, brothers Roland, Ches (Irene), Roy (Nancy), Max (Nellie), Dave (Yvonne), two sisters Marjorie (Val), Barbara (Churchill), sister-in-law Doris, grandchildren Michelle, Michelle, Shawn, Aaron, Stephanie, Brian, Carl, Tina, Shawn, Tyson and Christopher, 17 great grandchildren, plus a large extended circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends including special friend Doug King. In keeping with Stan's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Stan's life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family, the Kidney Foundation or a charity of one's choice.
