CARTER, Rosanna Frances
December 26, 1924 - September 2, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rosanna Carter announces her passing on Friday September 2, at Western Memorial Hospital at the age of 86 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Rosanna was the daughter of the late George and Lillian Osmond. She was also predeceased by her husband James William Carter, brothers George Osmond, Nelson Osmond, sisters; Hazel Downey, Lucy, Temple. Sister in law Annie Osmond, brother in laws; Fred Walters, and Leslie Chaulk. A loving and devoted mother to her children; Carolann (Robert) Blough of Ontario, Melvin (Delores) Carter Port aux Basques, Linda (John) Blakney, Junior (Doris) Carter all of Dartmouth NS, Kevin (Vina) Carter Port aux Basques, Gary (Laverne) Carter Burnt Islands, Joan Parsons Lunenburgh NS, Judy (Ken) Savory Port aux Basques, Mike Carter Dartmouth NS. She will also be sadly missed by her 25 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Also left with wonderful memories of Rosanna are her sisters Julia Walters, Vivian Chaulk, sister in law Dorothy Osmond all of Port aux Basques, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Tuesday September 6th, 3 PM at Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle, Grand Bay officiated by Pastor Jamie Warren. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Donations in Rosanna's memory can be made to a charity of one's choice. LAWRENCE, Gordon
October 18, 1956 - September 24, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Lawrence announces his passing on Saturday September 24, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 54 years. He is predeceased by his sister Martha Lawrence, father-in-law Roy Priddle, nephew Shawn Hatcher and niece Cathy Fea. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family; wife Wanda (nee Priddle) of 35 years. Only daughter Lisa (Fabian) and his treasured grandsons Noah and Matthew. Gordon will be sadly missed by his parents Daniel Sr. and Gladys Lawrence. His brothers; Willard (Fay), Raymond (Pat), Danny (Liz), Perry (Susan), Dean (Norma), Bobby (Denise), Scott (Sandra) and Sisters; Louise Hatcher (Phil), Bonnetta Organ (Wesley), Julie Lawrence (Don Strickland), Anne Samms (Nelson), Coreen Skinner (Kevin), Maisie Evans (Percy), Marilyn Budduik, Shaunna Reid (Scott), Tracy Button (Darren), and Melody. Gordon will be fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Selina Priddle, sister and brother-in-laws; Penny Meade (Todd), Monica Priddle (Darren Hatcher), Brenda Lomond (Kevin), Gary Priddle (Barb), Greg Priddle, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and other family including many, many friends. Visitation took place on Monday and Tuesday at Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts. Funeral services took place on Wednesday September 28, 2 PM at Holy Spirit Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Duncan Granter, interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. MacISAAC, Gordon
September 17, 1935 - September 9, 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Angus MacIsaac announces his passing at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center on Friday September 9th, at the age of 75 years. Born at Doyles, Gordon was the son of the late John J and Alice MacIsaac. He was also predeceased by his son Gerard, granddaughter Valerie, sisters Stella Sutton and Rita Pinhorn. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family; devoted wife Joan (nee Young) of 51 years marriage. His children; Alice (John) English, Valerie (Dennis) Battiste all of Doyles.Gordon of Stephenville, Tommy (Tonya) of Doyles, Nicole (Charles) Bourne of Winnipeg MB, Norman (Christa) of Doyles, 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. Father in law Norman Young of Stephenville, brothers; Michael MacIsaac of Millville, Ambrose (Hilda) of Deer Lake, sister Marjorie (Allan) English of Doyles and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. To honor Gordon's wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service to celebrate Gordon's life took place on Wednesday September 14, 2011, 2 PM at Mount St. Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery, officiated by Father Edward Terry, with interment to follow. PARSONS, Devon
September 5, 1991 - September 18, 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Devin William Parsons announce his sudden passing on Sunday, September 18th, 2011 at the age of 20 years. Devin was predeceased by his grandfather Ralph Parsons; grandmother Effie Collier, and Uncle Melvin Parsons. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories, his parents: John "Jackie" and Elizabeth; brother Kevin; sisters, Savannah and Haley; girlfriend Jenna Munden; grandfather Chesley Collier; grandmother Ada Parsons; aunts, Kathy (Ben) Edmunds and Rosanna (Corey) Herritt; uncles, Roy (Winnie) Parsons, Alex (Lisa) Parsons, Mark (Vanessa) Parsons, and Freeman Collier, as well as a large circle of cousins, family and friends. Devin was a caring and sweet young man who always had a smile and a helping hand for everyone. He loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. Visitation took place at St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church in Rose Blanche, from where the Funeral Service took place on Sept. 24th at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Duncan Granter. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port Aux Basques. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Garfield Piercey announce his passing at Dr. Charles. L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basuqes on Sept. 29, 2011 at the age of 82 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories his wife Ruth; daughters, Marie (Eric), St. John's, NL and Shirley (Rick), ON; sons, Merrial (Kate), ON, and Shawn, ON; step-son Albert (Bernice), Port aux Basques; step-daughter Christina (Ronald), Margaree; son-in-law Edgbert Walters, St. John's; grandsons Michael and David; granddaughters, Bobby Ann, Rebecca, Lesia and Danika; step-brother George Parsons; step-sister Margaret LeFose; step-grandchildren, Trudy, Trevor, Elaine and Todd as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Elsie, daughter Roma and step-brother Charlie Parsons. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home on Oct. 1st and 2nd between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. from St. James' Anglican Church in Port aux Basques. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, Rev. Hannah Dicks officiated. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are gracious accepted. SAMMS, Kerry
March 02, 1969 - Sept. 24, 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Kerry David Samms announce his passing at his home in Bowmanville, ON, on Saturday, September 24 at the age of 42 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family: wife Carol Ann; children Joshua and Kristen. Parents Eli and Margaret Samms and sister Vanessa Samms, all of Doyles. Sisters in law - Michelle (Blair) Hart; Chrystal Reid; Brother in law Shane Reid; Father in law Jim Reid all of Ontario; and a large circle of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and many friends. A funeral service to celebrate Kerry's life took place at the Morris Funeral Chapel in Ontario on Thursday, September 29.

SHEAVES, Donna V.
September 19, 1961 - September 6, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donna Vivian Sheaves (nee Anderson) announces her passing surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday September 6th, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 49 years. Donna was predeceased by her father William Anderson and her father in law, Joseph Sheaves. Left with fond and precious memories of a devoted and loving wife and mother are her husband Bruce Sheaves of 18 years marriage. Daughters, Chantal and Sommer. Donna will also be sadly missed by her mother Elsie Anderson, sisters; Wilma (Dave) Pike and their children Krista and Kelly (Tom) MacDonald. Sherry (Chester) Keeping and their children Samantha and Tristan, Cathy (Darrin) Buffett and their children Mitchell and Marcus, only brother Clarence (Linda) Anderson and their children Sasha, and Ashley (Steven) Chaulk. Donna will be lovingly remembered by her in laws; mother in law Dorcas Sheaves, sister in laws; Sylvia (Gordon) Savory, Joanne (Claude) Matthews, Debbie (Joseph) Murphy, brother in law Cecil (Bev) Sheaves, and a large circle of extended family and many friends. To honor Donna's wishes cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life took place on Friday September 9, 2 PM at Wesley United Church Port aux Basques, officiated by Rev. Tara Ann Wilson. She was predeceased by her mother Eileen Skeard December 1, 2010, sister Sandra Rowe February 1947, grandparents Herbert and Harriett White, Wallace and Ivy Skeard, aunts Minnie Matthews and Jessie Petite, uncles Elijah Skeard, James Matthews and Harry Petite. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving family; father Henry Skeard, sisters Elizabeth Payne (Graham) Fort McMurray AB, Ivy Chaulk ( Melv), Paula White (Reg) both of Port aux Basques, brother Wally Skeard (Sheila) Port aux Basques, nieces and nephews Darren Payne, Jody Payne, Tina Skeard, Craig Skeard, Karen Chaulk, Megan White and Chloe White, aunts Shirley Brace and Myrtle Skeard, good friend Sarah and a large circle of many friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marven Skinner announce his passing on Thursday, September 1st, 2011 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 39 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his parents: Harry G. and Carmen Skinner; sisters and brothers: Pauline Pardy (Rick), Barrie, ON, Judy Skinner (Darrell), Port Aux Basques, Harry J. (Eunjung), Qatar, Donna Sheaves (Norman), Fort McMurray, AB, and Sharon Sharpe (Kevin), Fredericton, NB; nieces and nephews: Chad, Aaron, Michael, Caitlyn, Carley, Joshue, Jordan and Joey; great niece: Jordyn; as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents: Harry and Effie Skinner Sr. and John and Effie Thorne; and sister: Joanne. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home in Port Aux Basques on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service was held on Monday, September 5th at 2:00 p.m. from St. James Anglican Church, with Reverend Hannah Dicks officiating.. SMITH, Evelyn
Dec. 13th, 1924 - Sept. 4th, 2011

Passed peacefully away on September 4, 2011 at the Central NL Regional Health Care Centre, Evelyn Smith, of Bishop's Falls. She was 86 years of age. Left to mourn are husband, John; son, David (Ruth) of Port-aux-Basques and daughters, Maude (Walter) of Powell River, BC, & Kimberly of Campbell River, BC. Also leaving to mourn sister, Dora Noel; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Barry Pelley conducted funeral services at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Bishop's Falls on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Interment followed at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Bond Street. Funeral arrangements were by Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop's Falls. Pallbearers were Gearld Dillon, Ellison Hamlyn, Lloyd Harnum, John Lingard, David Mills, and Jim Wells. STRICKLAND, Monford
September 10, 1928- September 15, 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Monford J Strickland announces his passing on Thursday September 15, at Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Center at the age of 83. Born in Port aux Basques, Monford was the son of the late Andrew and Adeline Strickland. He was also predeceased by his brother Charlie Strickland, sister Mary Sheaves, sister-in-law Hazel Strickland, brothers-in-law Percy Sheaves and Lawrence White, long term friend and companion Gertie Patey. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his loving family sister Maggie White Hamilton ON, sister-in-law Violet Strickland Port aux Basques and many nephews, nieces, and many friends in Hamilton and Port aux Basques. Monford was a long time taxi driver in Port aux Basques, a job that he took great pride in, and he enjoyed it to the fullest.Visitation took place on Sunday September 18th, 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Tuesday September 20th, 11 AM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel, officiated by Rev. Louise Richards.
