BUCKLAND, Lillian
(March 19, 1919 - October 2, 2013)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lilllian Buckland, 91 Beacon St, Glace Bay, Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born on March 19, 1919 in Harbour Le Cou, NL, she was the youngest daughter of the late Augustus and Phoebe (Herridge) Buckland of Harbour Le Cou, NL. Lillian was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Lillian along with her closest and very dear childhood friend, Betty Rose, moved to Toronto, ON at a very young age where she worked for General Electric until her retirement. Although she never married; she looked upon all of her nieces and nephews and their children as her extended family and took great pride in their accomplishments. Lillian kept in touch with all family members and her door was always open to anybody needing a helping hand. For the last six years Lillian has been living with her nephew Brad Dillon in Glace Bay, NS. Lillian is survived by many nieces and nephews who worshiped and adored her vitality, her sense of humor and her relentlessly king personality. Besides her parents, Lillian was predeceased by best friend Betty Rose, her sisters Mary Leah Dillon and Naomi Strong, her brothers Roland, Edgar, John, and Thomas (Todd). Visitation took place at St. Michael's Anglican Church in Rose Blanche on Tuesday, October 8th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., the funeral service followed at 2 p.m. Interment took place at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts road. Funeral arrangements in the care of Patten Funeral Home, Glace Bay, NS and East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, NL.

DOWDING, Josephine Gillian
Febuary 11, 1930 to October 24, 2013

Passed peacefully away after a brief illness on October 24, 2013 at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, BC, Josephine Dowding, age 83 years. Predeceased by her husband Alfred 1986, parents James (1967) and Maude (1998) Gillam, brother Eric (1985) and sister Nora (2007), brothers-in-law Charles Matthews, Clayton Lomond, Gerald Dingwell. She leaves to mourn her family; Clarence (Mary), Donald (Betty) Port aux Basques, Marlene (Gordon) Lavhey McIvers, Loretta (Kenneth) Cornish (with whom she resided for 23 years) Prince Rupert, BC and Christine (Garry) Chevrier also in Prince Rupert, BC. Also left to mourn are her six grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Dowding, Paul (Lisa) Dowding, Paula (Rene) Arenas, Dawn (Krista) Dowding, Tracey (Chris) Hahn and Ashley (Vanessa) Cornish; her great grandchildren Tonya Dowding, Sophia Arenas, Jackson Hahn, Ashlynn, Kadeyn Bond-Cornish and Courtney-Lynn. Sisters Susie Matthews, Ada Dingwell, Eve (Dennis) Loder, Christine Lomond, Blanche (Eugene) Pike, Kay (Wilfred) LeRiche and her only brother Vincent (Darlene) Gillam, brother-in-law Chesley Kettle and one surviving uncle, Russell Lomond.
We would like to send a special thank you to all the nurses and to Dr. Croft for all the wonderful care that you gave our mom at Prince Rupert Hospital. We would also like to thank all the nurses and Doctors that helped mom through her final days at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Prince Rupert
Regional Hospital in her memory.
Cremation has taken place and internment to follow at a later date.
Rest in peace mom.

HODDER, Bruce Leonard
(April 3, 1968 - October 25, 2013)

It is with great sorrow that the family of the late Bruce Hodder announces his passing on Friday, October 25 at his residence in St. John's, Newfoundland at the age of 45 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Bruce was the son of Pheobe and Peter Durnford of Margaree. He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Mary Hodder and Samuel and Caroline Durnford, his nephew, Wyatt Lane, Uncles Terrance Keeping, Sam Northcott, Eric Lilly, Sammy Durnford, Aunt Marion Hodder and cousins Glen Northcott, David Stone and Julie Fox.Left to mourn with many fond and loving memories are fiancée Sue Bemister of St. John's, son Travis Kettle of Halifax and grandchildren Damien and Faith, daughter Gabrielle Millard of St. John's, parents Pheobe and Peter Durnford of Margaree, brother Corwin (Dinah) Durnford and niece Paige of Pasadena, sisters Yvonne (Jim) Lane and nephews Connor and Caleb of Port aux Basques, Pamela (Robert) Durnford of Pasadena, aunts Susanna Northcott of Margaree, Lillian (Hartland) Wellman of McCallum, Shirley (Garfield) Seymour of Margaree, Norma (Wilson) Lilly of Isle aux Morts, Louise (Mick) Keeping of Margaree, Edith (Roy) Loveless of Seal Cove Fortune Bay, Bessie (George) Simms,and Queena (Edward) Feaver of Hermitage, Judy (John) Piercey of McCallum, uncles Jim (Zenith) Hodder of Margaree, Ray (Eileen) Hodder of Port aux Basques, Hayward Durnford of McCallum, Wallace (Mary) Durnford of West Valley, NL and a large circle of cousins, extended family and friends.Visitation took place at St. Augustine's Church in Margaree October 30 and October 31, with cremation following. Funeral services took place in Margaree at 1 PM on Friday, November 1 officiated by Rev. Mary Rose Colbourne. Internment followed at Hillside Haven cemetery. It is with great sorrow that the family of the late Gerald Organ announces his passing on Saturday October 26 at the age of 75 years. Gerald was the son of the late Alfred and Rosabelle (nee Taylor) Organ. He was predeceased by his brothers; Henry & Harold, sister and brother in law Olive and Reuben Taylor, sister and brother in law Florence and Thomas Bond, brother-in-law; George Organ, and sister in law, Dora Organ. Left to mourn with many precious memories: Wife, Audrey, son, Barry (Tammy) Organ, grandchildren; Emily and Gracie, Abbotsford, BC and daughter, Patsy (Steve) Chant, grandchild Taylor, Terrace, BC, brothers: Donald (Elsie) Organ, Lapoile, Ralph (Effie) Organ, Port aux Basques, sister; Patricia Organ, North Sydney, NS, Mother & Father-in-law; Percy & Violet Taylor, Port aux Basques, Brother-in-law to: Evelyn Organ, Evelyn Neil (Albert), Dorothy (Calvin) Francis, Joan Mauger, Golda (George) Walters, Judy Mauger (Carl), Debbie (Jimmy) Stagg. RODGERS, Raymond William
(August 5, 1947 - October 2, 2013)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond William Rodgers announces his passing on Wednesday October 2, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 66 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Raymond was predeceased by his father Robert on December 29, 1997 and his mother Mary (nee Forsey) on March 29, 1953. He leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories his special partner Heather Hardy of 12 years, his children Corinna (Laura) Moncton NB, Wanda Lee (Jason) Eastern Passage NS, Bobby of Port aux Basques, grandchildren Jake, Jordan, Nicole, Dylan, sister Sylvia Crummey St. John's NL, step children Hillary and Sarah Jean, nieces Arlene, Elaine, special friends Rose and Isreal Keeping and a large circle of extended family and many, many friends. To honor Raymond's wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation took place on Friday October 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. A service to celebrate his life took place on Saturday October 5, 2 PM at East Haven Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Canon Hannah Dicks, interment will take place at a later date. (September 12, 1953 - October 18, 2013)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Thomas Samms (Johnny) announces his passing on Friday October 18, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 60 years. John was predeceased by his father James W Samms, mother and father in law Jean and Ivan Donaldson, sister in law Joan Musseau. Leaving to mourn with many fond and precious memories are his loving wife Betty (nee Donaldson) of 38 years. Loving father of Denise Samms, Ivan (Krista), Donald, Tony (Doreen). Proud grandfather of Mallory, Tamara, Clark, Rogan, Leah. John will also be sadly missed by his mother Mildred Samms, his sister Margaret Donaldson, brothers Nelson (Ann) Samms, Kyrl (Germaine) Gallop, brother in laws; Ronald, Scott, Don, Will, sister in law Vera and their families, aunts and uncles; Annie (Walter) Aucoin, Patricia Samms, Dorcas Samms, Clifford (Sophia) Gallop, Sylvia Morris, Etta (John) Colbourne, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends who were fortunate enough to have had John as a part of their lives. Visitation took place on Sunday and Monday at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy. Funeral services took place on Tuesday October 22, 2 PM at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, officaited by Rev. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Olive Maud Taylor announces her passing on Friday October 25, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 82 years. Olive was the daughter of the late Alfred and Rosabelle (nee Taylor) Organ. She was also predeceased by her husband Reuben J. Taylor, daughter Melica Lillington, baby Lillington, brothers Harold Organ and Henry Organ, sister Florence and brother in law Thomas Bond, sisters in law Irene Organ, and Dora Organ,and brother in law George Organ. Leaving to mourn with many fond and precious memories her children; Dulcie (Charles) Riles, Olive (Gordon) Warren and Belinda Taylor all of Port aux Basques, sons Reuben Taylor, Alfred (Diane) Taylor, Dennis (Bernadette) Taylor, Clifford (Denise) Taylor all of Burnt Islands, brothers; Donald (Elsie) Organ, Lapoile, Gerald (Audrey) Organ, Abbotsford, BC, Ralph (Effie) Organ, Port aux Basques, sister; Patricia Organ, North Sydney, sister in law Evelyn Organ, LaPoile, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren 1 great great grandchild and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. THOMAS, Lloyd Morgan
September 22, 1939 - October 29, 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lloyd Morgan Thomas announces his passing on Tuesday October 29 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 74 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Lloyd was the son of the late George and Clara Thomas, he was also predeceased by his sister Ella Munden and brother Arthur Thomas. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his loving family; wife Ann (nee MacKinnon) Grand Bay, sons; Trevor Thomas (Heidi) Grand Bay, George Thomas Halifax NS. Daughters; Cathy (Lewis) Matthews Grand Bay, Nicole Thomas Fort McMurray AB. Grandchildren; Jasmine and Logan Thomas, Cory and Christopher Matthews, Ryan Allen, great granddaughter Emily Matthews, sister Ethel Barnes (Roland) Cape Ray, brother in law Lew Munden, sister in law Marie Thomas and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. WHITE, Margaret E. (nee Neil)
(June 5, 1962 - October 9, 2013)
Passed peacefully away at her home in Blaketown, on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 after a short but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family, Margaret White, age 51 years. Predeceased by her father, Eric Neil (2010). Leaving to mourn and to celebrate her life with thanksgiving are her son, Roderick Payne; her loving husband, Richard White; mother, Lilia Neil; seven sisters, Loretta (Minter) Walters, Diane (Alfred) Taylor, Erica (Brett) Walker, Annette (Clayton) Vardy, Ada (John) Robbins, Lydia (Kenny) Thorne and Florence (Boivin). Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services of celebration and thanksgiving for her life will be held from the Salvation Army TBS Corps on Friday, October 11th at 1:00pm and at the Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts on Monday, October 14th at 1:00pm. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or flowers gratefully accepted to the White/Neil Family in Isle aux Morts.
