WALTERS, Robert
1926 - 2004
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert Walters announce his passing at his residence in Fox Roost, NL, on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004. He leaves to mourn with fond memories his wife, Olive Mary; step-sons, Norman and Wayne (Sybil) King, Burnt Islands, Dana (Eileen) and Ross (Carol) King, Isle aux Morts and Glen (Roslyn) King, Fox Roost; step-daughters, Marjorie (Jason), Fox Roost, Faye (Roland) Thorne, Isle aux Morts and Sarah (John) Osmond, Searston; brother-in-law, Llewellyn (Ella) Munden, Port aux Basques; sisters-in-law, Sadie, Annie and Julia Walters, Port aux Basques, Catherine Ramsey, North Sydney, NS, Henrietta Murray, Maple Ridge, BC, and Viola (Holomew) Reid, New Glasgow, NS, and a large circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Robert (Bob) was predeceased by his father and mother, Ambrose and Rachel (Roberts) Walters, half brothers, Abraham, Ernest and Frederick Walters, and half sister, Sadie Walters. Visitation took place at St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Fox Roost-Margaree on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7, 8, and 9. The Funeral service was held at St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Fox Roost-Margaree at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 with Rev. Hubert Vallis officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican cemetery in Fox Roost-Margaree. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.

O'QUINN, Alexander
age 78 years

Passed peacefully away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004 Alexander O'Quinn of Millville, age 78 years. Left with fond and precious memories are his wife of 34 years, Linda; daughters, Lisa (Wayne), Corner Brook, Aggie (Terry), Port aux Basques and Jeannie at home; sons, Roddie (Kathy), Alberta, Bernard (Christa), Alberta and Paul (Katie), St. Andrew's; his grandchildren, Francis, Stephen, Patricia, Nicole, Brady, Dawson, Hayley and Cameron; sisters, Aggie (Hubert) Walters and Mammie (Francis) Gale; brothers, Stephen (Margie) O'Quinn, Mike (Marjorie) O'Quinn and Leo O'Quinn, as well as other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by his mother and father, Mary and Paul Joseph O'Quinn; sisters, Margaret (Bill) Chassion and Ann Porter, as well as by his twin brother, Paul O'Quinn and brother, Pat O'Quinn. Visitation took place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 12, 13, and 14 at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry from where the funeral mass was held at 2 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 with Father McLennan officiating. Interment followed in Mount Saint Thomas Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.

age 78 years

PARSONS, Kathleen Muriel
(1917 - 2004)

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Friday Oct. 15, 2004 Kathleen Muriel Parsons of Port aux Basques at the age of 86 years. Born at Greenspond Bonavista Bay, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Clara Way. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Parsons and son Austin Parsons. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children, James (Edith) Parsons, Boyd (Georgina) Parsons, Kelvin (Donna) Parsons of Port aux Basques, David (Shirley) Parsons and Marie (Edward) Vickers of Tompkins, NL; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Edgar Parsons of Greenspond, NL; sister-in-law, Marie (Jim) Blackwood of Carmenville, NL and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation took place on Friday from 7-9 p.m. Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. Funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 17, 2004 at St. James’ Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Hugh Fudge. Interment followed at St. James’ Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

COURTNEY, Sarah Ellen
(1930 - 2004)

Passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s on Saturday Oct. 16, 2004 Sarah Ellen Courtney of Burnt Islands at the age of 73. Born in Burnt Islands she was the daughter of the late John and Selina Hardy. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Courtney in August 1999; daughter, Florence Keeping and grandson Godfrey Keeping in December of 2002; brothers, John Hardy, Raymond Hardy and Earnest Hardy; sister, Blanche Frampton. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children, Marilyn (David) Bentley of Bridgewater, NS, Robert (Louise) Courtney of Dingwall, NS, Deanna (Tom) Keeping of Burnt Islands, NL; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Cedella) Hardy of Burnt Islands; sisters, Annie May Lawrence of Burnt Islands, Julie Hatcher of Georgetown, ON, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation took place on Sunday and Monday at her residence Burnt Islands. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 at St. George’s Anglican Church in Burnt Islands, officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts road. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

Age 78

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorman Bunter announce his passing at Lakeridge Health Hospital, Oshawa, ON, Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004 in his 78th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his wife Joyce, of 53 years; daughters, Noreen Cameron (Joey) Brooklin, ON, Cavell Bunter (George) Oshawa, ON; sons, Glenn (Sharon) Ajax, ON, Leon (Michelle) Margaree, NL; grandchildren, Tim (Tracy), Lonnie, Shandon, Trevor, Ryan, Adrian (Debbie), Matthew, Mark; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Travis, Brock and Page; brother, Harvey (Rose) Moncton, NB; sisters-in-law, Mary Hartney (Jim), Levina Meade, Port aux Basques, Emma Walters, Isle aux Morts; brothers-in-law, Joshua Meade (Betty), Halifax, NS, Enos Meade (Madeline) Isle-aux-Morts; father-in-law, Freeman Meade, Isle aux Morts, as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Beatrice (nee Rose); sisters, Rita Young, Myrtle Warren, Elizabeth Vardy and brother James. Visitation took place on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 21 and 22 from Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts from where funeral service was held on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at 2 p.m. with Rev. H. Vallis officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. He leaves to mourn with precious memories his sisters, Margaret St. Croix (Frank) South Branch, Josephine Farris (Johnny) Nova Scotia, Sally Backhouse (Norman) Nova Scotia, Marie Peat (Brian) Ontario; brothers, Murdock (Lucy) O’Regans, Anthony (Eileen) South Branch; sisters-in-law, Margaret AuCoin, South Branch, Barbara O’Quinn, Nova Scotia, as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Narcis and Julia (nee Gale); sisters, Helen Dickenson, Gertrude AuCoin; brothers, Hughie, James, Arthur, Hector and Raymond; brother-in-law, Fred Dickenson; sisters-in-law, Edna and Bridget. Visitation took place on Wednesday evening and Thursday at St. Sylvester’s Roman Catholic Church in South Branch from where funeral service took place on Friday, Oct. 22, 2004 at 2 p.m. with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment followed at St. Sylvester’s Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. Passed peacefully away at the Calder Health Care Centre Burgeo on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, Myra Rossiter of Ramea age 87 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children, Elizabeth (William) Timbury, Edwardsville, NS, Lloyd (Sarah) Rossiter, Ramea, Jane (Calvin) Pink, Ramea, Eunice (Wilfred) Cutler, Ramea, George (Nancy) Rossiter, Ramea, Captain Maude (Rev. Ron) Parsons-Horst Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Wayne (Pam), Jackie (Deon), Jeanette (Trevor), Aletha, Stephen, David (Marcie), Keith, Jeffrey (Tonya), Hugh (Shawna), Jason (Lori), Justin (Tina) Jeremy (Brenda), Jody (Deon), Georgette (Darren), Owen, Beth (Mark), Heather, Paul, James (Lori Ann) and 14 great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, George; her mother and  father, James and Sarah Young; her son-in-law, James Parsons; and her two brothers, James and Charles Young. Visitation took place at St. Boniface Anglican Church, Ramea. The funeral service was held on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Trudy Sullivan and Rev. Ron Horst. Interment followed at St. Boniface cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Corner Brook.

OSMOND, Catherine Annie
1922 - 2004

Passed suddenly away at The Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, Mrs. Catherine Annie Osmond (Nee: Ford) of Mouse Island, in her 82nd year. Left with fond and loving memories are her two daughters, Louise (Winston) Hulan, Port aux Basques and Patricia Janes, Toronto, ON; son, Sheldon (Mildred), Riverview, NB; sister, Violet McNeil; brothers, Junior and John Ford; sisters-in-law, Hilda McNeil, Elizabeth Francis, Gladys Sheaves and Florence Osmond, all of Port aux Basques; brother-in-law, Robert Feilds, Boston, MA; grandchildren, Dean (Wanda-Lee) Hulan, Port aux Basques, Jason (Amanda) Hulan, Carbonear, NL, Les, Ilona (Eddy) Guerra, Jolene (Darren) Sutton, all of Ontario; nine great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband John R. Osmond, just three short months ago; parents James and Frances Ford; brothers, Garland, Charles and Harold and sisters: Mary, Jenny and Vera. Visitation took place on Thursday, and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral service was held on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. from St. James’ Anglican Church, Port aux Basques, Reverend H. Fudge officiating. Interment followed at St. James’ Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.
