AUSTIN, Jane (Jean)
Sep 11, 1924 - Nov 23, 2015
Jane Austin, 91, passed peacefully with loved ones by her side on Nov 23, 2015 in Chilliwack, BC. Jean was born Sep 11, 1924 to Henry and Minnie Edwards of Rose Blanche, Newfoundland. Predeceased by her husband Allan Austin, she is survived by her brother Glendon Edwards of Rose Blanche, loving companion Roy Booth of Burnaby, BC and many Nieces and Nephews. Although she may have weakened over the years, she maintained her feistiness and sense of humor to the very end. Heartfelt thanks and gratitude are extended to the Valleyhaven Care Home for the kindness and loving care they provided. Jeans remains will be cremated and a private celebration of life held to remember her. In Jeans memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC or a charity of choice.

GILLARD, Leonard Raymond
August 1, 1947-November 27, 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond Gillard announces his passing on Friday, November 27, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, at the age of 68. Born in Roddickton, he was the son of the late John and Sylvia (Fillier) Gillard. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Bessie (Keeping) of 47 years, his daughters, Peggy (Ken) Lawrence, Amanda (Darren) Bragg and son, Terrance Gillard (Melissa McMahon), Thunder Bay, ON, his grandchildren, Ashton Gillard-Bragg and Ava Bragg, Dakota McMahon-Berube, Rebecca and Alexandra Gillard, brothers and sisters, John Gillard, Lloyd (Joan) Gillard, Lee (Loretta) Gillard, Robert (Stephanie) Randell, Dora (Norman) Randall, Myrtle Canning, Etta Mae (Eugene) Tiller, brothers and sister-in -laws, Shirley Gillard, Joe Hatcher, Frank Sheppard, Annie-May Gillard, Wilson (Abagail)Keeping, William Keeping, Edwin Keeping, Lockland (Isabelle) Keeping, Shirley (Edward) Cokes and Peggy Keeping. He was predeceased by, brothers, Stennie and Frank Gillard, sisters, Mary Hatcher, Georgia Taylor, Marjorie Sheppard, sister-in-law, Kathleen Howse and brother-in-law, Arthur Keeping. Family and friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 134 Main Street on Wednesday, December 2 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, December 3 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 4 at 11:00 from St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Clayton Billard officiating. In keeping with Ray’s wishes cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond’s memory may be made to the family. HATCHER, Ethel
(March 2, 1930 - November 2, 2015)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ethel Hatcher announces her passing at the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre on November 2, 2015 at the age of 85 years. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Harriett Dolomount. She was also predeceased by her husband Theo, daughter Mary Lorraine, sister Edna (Walter) Chislett, parents-in-law Reuben and Elizabeth Hatcher, brother-in-law Calvin Hatcher. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her children Raymond (Mary) of Dartmouth NS, Roma (Kelvin) Billard of Margaree NL, Gwen (Chris) Dominie of Dartmouth NS, grandchildren Glen (Elaine) Hatcher of Eastern Passage NS, Tracy (George) Hatcher of British Columbia, Donna (Gary) Hatcher of Carroll's Corner NS, Lisa Billard of Margaree NL, Lori Billard of Port aux Basques NL, Luke Dominie of Dartmouth NS, great grandchildren Melissa Hatcher, Sarah Hatcher, Amber Tully, Alexandra Martin, brothers and sisters Raymond Dolomount (Kathleen) of Codroy Valley NL, Mabel Hatcher of Corner Brook NL, Donna Pink (Clarence) of Rose Blanche NL, brothers and sisters-in-law Canon Reuben Hatcher (Ruth), and Annie Roebothan (Cecil) all of St. John's NL and caretakers Linda Neil and Peggy Keeping. "Forever In Our Hearts."

LEAMON, Lilly Diane - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lilly. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving sisters on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the age of 50. She has been reunited with her loving father, Ron (2005). Lilly will be forever loved and missed by her mother, Maud. Cherished sister of Mildred (Wayne), George (Janice), Francis (Wayne), Lloyd (Karen), Anne (Brian), Sandra (Raymond) and Rhonda (Tim). Special Aunt Lilly to her many nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by her aunts, uncles and cousins. She will be especially missed by her beloved dog, Cuddles. In accordance with Lilly's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, Ontario. Family and friends will be welcomed to a Celebration of Lilly's Life, held at a later date at St. George's Anglican Church in Burnt Islands, Newfoundland. Following the ceremony, Lilly will be interred into the family plot at Hillside Haven. Memorial donations may be given to St. George's Anglican Church.

MELBOURNE, Harold Stanley
1940-2015
At the age of 75, Harold Melbourne, of Channel-Port aux Basques, died peacefully surrounded by his family in the Long Term Care Unit, of Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on Nov. 29, 2015. Born in Grand Bruit he was the son of the late Emmanuel and Ivy Melbourne. He was an exceptional hunter, and anyone who knew him, knew his love for his dog, Dan. He was a hard worker all his life. He was a teacher at an early age and taught in Petites and Bay North and after that served in the Army. His love of Newfoundland brought him back to Grand Bruit, where he raised his family and working with NL Hydro. There he hunted and fished and had a garden. He had a vegetable garden as well as planted trees, bushes and had the most beautiful flower garden. He had such a green thumb and knew it that he would say, "I could plant a rock and a flower would grow."
Once Hope Brook Gold Mine took over NL Hydro, he transitioned to the mine, and from there moved to Channel-Port aux Basques. When the mine closed he went to college in Stephenville and got his chef diploma and he and wife went to Labrador as a cook and later guiding until retiring. Like his brother Murley, he was a great storyteller and his granddaughters, (Felicia and Holly) were his pride and joy.
He is predeceased by brothers: Les, Rodney, Charlie, Murley and Claude; sisters, Mildred, Ann and Rita. He is survived by the love of his life Dawna Melbourne of 45 years marriage; children: Charlene (Rodney), Keith, Ruth (Wayne), Dean (Angelique), Darrin, and Harold Jr.; Sister Shirley, along with grandchildren. Visitation was held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 30 from 7-9 p.m. and service was held at the United Church on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the family or a charity of ones choice. O'QUINN, Mary Margaret
(July 3, 1923 - November 18, 2015)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Margaret O`Quinn announces her passing surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday November 18, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 92 years. Margaret was predeceased by her first husband Joseph O`Quinn and her second husband Frank Wall. Grandson Leon Gale, sons in law; Hubert Gale and Glenn Wouters, step son Lenny Wall, brothers; Michael, Earl, Ronald, sisters; Agnes, Mary and Evelyn. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of precious memories her children; Kaye Gale (Wayne Harris) Millville, Francis O'Quinn (Alice Patten) St. Andrew's, Fred (Lucy) O'Quinn Pasadena NL, Armand O'Quinn (Betty LeBlanc) Hampton NB, Kevin (Joyce) O'Quinn Acton ON, Anne Marie (Eugene) O'Quinn Millville, Gerry (Melinda) O'Quinn St. Andrew's, Millie Wouters, Elaine (Don) Peace all of Brampton ON, stepchildren; Martin (Joyce) Wall, Walter (Philomena) Wall, Cyril Wall all of Ontario, Jerome Wall (Bernadine Hoskins) St. Andrew's. She will forever remain in the hearts of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, her brother Donald (Florence) McNeil Glace Bay NS and many friends. Visitation will take place on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church, St. Andrew's from where the funeral mass will take place on Saturday November 21, 10 AM officiated by Father Lee Lainey. Interment to follow at Mount St. Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery, Great Codroy. Flowers graciously accepted, memorial donations can be made to the Mount St. Thomas Cemetery Fund or to a charity of one's choice. She was the daughter of the late James and Julia Carter. She was also predeceased by her husband Ted, brothers Issac Carter, Robert Carter and Eric Carter, sisters Pearl Hynes and Maud Kendall. Ethel was predeceased by husband Lorie, mother and father George Strickland and Marjorie Strickland and stepmother Katherine Strickland, sons Albert, Lorenzo and Eric, brothers Lloyd Strickland, Jack Strickland, brother-in-law Willard Payne and son-in-law Randy Muzzi. WHEELER, Wilfred George
(January 8, 1927 - November 9, 2015)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wilfred George Wheeler announces his passing at the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Centre on November 9, 2015 at the age of 88. He was the son of the late Edward & Elizabeth (nee Pardy) Wheeler. He was also predeceased by his son Wayne Wheeler. He leaves to mourn with many memories his loving and caring wife Vera of 64 years, his son Terry (Suzanne) Wheeler Grand Falls-Windsor NL, daughter Jocelyn (Doug) Townson Keystone Heights, Florida, grandchildren Laurie (Darren) Pinksen Deer Lake NL, Sherri (Michael) Mullins Port St. Lucie, Florida, Shawn (Tara) Wheeler Charlottetown P.E.I., Tiffany Wheeler St. John's NL, Stephen (Natalie) Wheeler Stephenville NL, great grandchildren Kyle, Ethan and Kris, daughter-in-law Wanda Wheeler Port au Port, sisters-in-law Evelyn Podojil Texas, USA, and Sheila (Frank) Hayward Ohio, USA, his caregivier Velda, best friends Ray Brown, Gord Osmond, & Willie Bryan, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Wilfred was a great family man and friend. He fully enjoyed gardening, life at his cabin, fishing, moose hunting, berry picking and he was heavily involved in the Shriners and Masonic Lodge. He also worked at Marine Atlantic all his life as an Administrative Clerk. His greatest passion was his church. He played his own keyboard and sang, he played the organ at St. James Church for 26 years for funerals, weddings and church services, and he also sang in the choir for 35 years. To sum it up, the church was his life. Wilfred was a highly respected gentleman of this town and his involvement will certainly be missed. Visitation took place on Tuesday, November 10th from 7-9 PM and Wednesday, November 11th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM from East Haven Funeral Home, 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques. Funeral services took place on Thursday, November 12th at 2 PM from St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Clayton Billard and Rt. Rev. Leonard Whitten officiating. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers accepted or donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church in his memory. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques. 695-2300. www.easthavenfuneralhome.com
