It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bessie Ellen Organ announces
her passing on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health
Centre at the age of 89 years. Born at La Poile, Bessie was the daughter of
the late Samuel and Sarah Taylor. She was predeceased by her husband Percy
in 1990; son Alexander (Sandy) in 2003; brothers Andrew, Douglas, Leslie, Thomas;
sisters Ann, Lillian, Martha, Mary; and son-in-law Calvin. She leaves to mourn
with fond and precious memories her loving family: son Willis "Junior" (Hilda)
Kelligrews, Nfld., daughters Reta (Melvin) Bond and Marie Chant both of La
Poile; daughter-in-law Susie Organ of Brampton, Ont.; nine grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends
including the Stoodley family and their staff who were such great caregivers
to Mom over the past 16 years. Visitation took place on Nov. 4 from 7-9 p.m.
at East Haven Funeral Home, then continued on Nov. 5 from St. Thomas Anglican
Church in La Poile. Funeral services took place on Friday, Nov. 6, 2 p.m. at
St. Thomas Anglican Church, officiated by Father Andrew Nussey. Interment followed
at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven

DOMINEY, LEAH
APRIL 9, 1912 - NOV. 6, 2009
Passed peacefully away at Mountain Hope Manor on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009,
Leah Dominey at the age of 97 years. Leah was predeceased by her parents
James and Florence Baggs; her loving husband John Dominey; and her son Jack
whom she loved dearly; her dear brothers Cecil, Freeman, James, James Roland,
Raymond and Harry; in addition to her three sisters Ida, Elizabeth and Harriett.
Leaving to mourn her precious grandchildren Craig Snow (Norma), Sherry Snow,
cherished great-grandchildren Kaelen Snow and Christopher Moss and great-great-grandchild
Alicia Dalton. She will also be lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
Her kindness, keen memory, sense of humor and her love for children left many
fond memories with those who knew her best. A special word of thanks goes out
for the kindness and care extended by Ida and her staff at Mountain Hope Manor
where she resided for her last years and also to her special friend Betty Keeping.
Visitation took place on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral
services took place on Monday, Nov. 9, 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church,
Channel officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at St. James'
Anglican Cemetery, High Street. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East

STRICKLAND, HENRY ROBERT

Passed peacefully away at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Wednesday,
Nov. 11, 2009 Henry Robert (Bobby) Strickland of Burnt Islands in
his 61st year. Born at West Point, La Poile Bay, Bobby was the son
of the late Josiah and Annie Elizabeth (nee Baggs) Strickland. He leaves to
mourn with love and many precious memories his wife Elaine; daughter Sylvia
and son Dennis (Flora); sisters Mariam (Rupert Bond), Dora (Roland Keeping),
Darlene (Dennis Bryan) and brother Wilson. He also leaves to mourn a very special "Mom
and Dad" Marie and Wilson Bond and their family; sisters-in-law Marion
(Reg Slade), Loretta Munden, Verna (Roland Savoury); brothers-in-law Ray (Avalyn
Bragg), John (Valetta Harris) and sister-in-law Doreen Harvey. He was predeceased
by his sisters Ellen and Harriet and brothers Walter and Sidney. Bobby was
loved and will be greatly missed by a wide circle of aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews and very special friends. Visitation took place at his home in Burnt
Islands on Nov. 11 and continued on Nov. 12 and 13. Funeral services took place
on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church in Burnt Islands,
officiated by Father Andrew Nussey. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery,

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vera Kendell announces
her peaceful passing, with her children by her side, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow
Health Centre on Monday, Nov.16, 2009 at the age of 79 years.
Born Oct.1, 1930, to the late Isaac and Ethel Fiander. She was predeceased
by her husband Charlie in 2003; infant daughter at birth; brothers George,
Jack and Vincent; sisters Dorothy, Ruth and Elizabeth. Mom will forever be
remembered by daughters: Judy (Gerry) of Millville, Nfld., Nancy (Bob) Brooks,
Alta., Bonnie (Trent) Lakeside, N.S.; sons Charlie Jr. (Judy) of New Glasgow,
N.S., Dennis (Maureen) St. John's, Nfld., Donald (Pearl) Lower Sackville, N.S.;
grandchildren Kris (Lucie), Kirk, Emily, Shawna, Rachel, Jennifer, Nathan and
Lauren; great-grandchild Julia; brother Ralph (Marion) Woodville; sisters Hilda,
Port aux Basques and Marie (Jack) Woodville; sisters-in-Iaw Rita, Gladys, Kay,
Nora, Addie, Muriel (Alex) of Port aux Basques; brothers-in-law Eric (Irene)
and Ira and a large circle of nieces, nephews, many friends with special mention
of her dear friend Geraldine. She was very active in her church as well as
the ACW, also a member of the Oceanview Seniors Club, enjoyed knitting, darts
and bingo. She was gifted with a great memory, which was evident in her storytelling.
Friends visited Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy on Nov. 18 from 2-4
and 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service took place on Thursday, Nov. 19
at 2 p.m. with Reverend Boote officiating. Internment followeq at the church
cemetery. As expression of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted. The family

Born at Parson's Harbour, Nfld., Effie was the daughter of the late Henry and
Emily Durnford. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her husband

Kathy (Benjamin) Edmunds of Port aux Basques; son Freeman, Rose Blanche; brothers

Rose Blanche; six grandchildren Savanna, Adriana, Kevin, Devin, Jordan, Haley
and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation took
place on Nov. 20 and 21 at St. Michael's and All Angels Church in Rose Blanche
from where the funeral service took place on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. with
Father Andrew Nussey officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Enos Jerome Skeard announces

Health Center at the age of 71 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Enos was the
son of the late Freeman and Evelyn Skeard. He was also predeceased by his step
father George S. Parsons, brothers Wally, John, and father-in-law Albert Warren.
He leaves to mourn with many precious memories, his loving family: wife Kathelene
of 48 years marriage; children: Cynthia (Frank) Porter, Ted (Marina Gillam),
all of Port aux Basques, Enos (June) Dartmouth N.S., David (Trina) Red Deer,
Alta, Lisa (Deon) Vautier Paradise Nfld.; six grandchildren: Arthena, Melissa,
Hayley, Sarah, Mitchell and Kaitlyn; three great-grandchildren: Shannon, Rory
