MCNEIL, JOHN NATHAN
Brampton, Ontario (Port-aux-Basques, NL)

It is with great sadness the family of the late John Nathan McNeil announces his passing at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ont., on Nov. 1, 2007 in his 52nd year. John was the son of Fred and Violet McNeil, but was well taken care of by James and Jenny Musseau of Port aux Basques- He leaves to mourn his mother, Violet; his brothers, Carison, Jimmy, Freddy (Peggy), Alan (Gwen), Junior (Kathleen), Glen (Amanda), Brian (Vesta); and sisters, Darlene, Patsy (George), Kathleen (John), Francis Pearce (Reg); as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Fred McNeil; and James and Jenny Musseau. Services were held in Brampton, Ont. and his ashes will be sent home for burial at a later date. Thank you to doctors and nurses in Toronto and Patsy Janes, llona and Brenda Jones for all they did for our brother and son in his time of need.
You will be forever in our hearts.

PIKE, CAROLINE
November 5, 1933-November 1, 2007

Passed peacefully away with her family on Thursday, November 1, 2007, Carrie Pike, at the age of 73 years. Carrie was the daughter of the late Cyril and Ada Melbourne; she is also predeceased by her husband, Robert James Pike on August 15, 2002; mother and father-in-law, James and Alice Pike; granddaughters, Kayla and Deidra Pike; daughter-in-law, Vivian; brothers-in-law. Gerald and Eric Pike; and sister-in-law, Genevieve. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her family: sons, Robert (Susan) Pike of Upper Ferry and Derek (Kim) Pike of Grand Falls Windsor; daughters, Faye (Melvin) Keeping of Port aux Basques, Arlene (Carry) Hollett of Port aux Basques, Genevieve (Dave) Lawrence of Lower Sackville and Kim (Darryl) Ford of Corner Brook; brothers, Ernest (Doris) Melbourne of St. John's, Winston (Eleanor) Melbourne of St. John's, Lloyd (Linda) Melbourne of Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Kevin (Linda) Melbourne of St. John's; sister, Bernetta Melbourne of Port aux Basques; brothers-in-law, Harold (Kathleen) Pike of Dartmouth; sisters-in-law, Marie Pike, Viola Pike, and Marie (Gordon) Billard all of Port aux Basques; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Memorial service was held on Sunday, November 4, 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church Channel. Officiated by Rev. Hugh Fudge, Interment of ashes followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Wilfred Keeping announces his passing on Wednesday, November 7th at the age of 61 years. Born in Burnt Islands he was the son of the late John and Lillian Keeping. He is also predeceased by father-in-law, James Bryan; brothers, Angus Keeping and Ralph Keeping; and brothers-in-law, John Bryan and Roy Priddle. Funeral services took place on Sunday, November 11th at St. George's Church in Burnt Islands, officiated by Rev. Andrew Nussey. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

DRAKE, MARGARET E
March 2, 1952-November 8, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Margaret Elizabeth Drake announces her passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the age of 55 years. Born at Port aux Basques, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Mabel Short. Margaret was also predeceased by her brothers, Eric Short and Norman Short; and by her sister, Maisie Short. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her long time companion, Eric Osmond; daughters, Tammy (Gordon) Musseau and Arthesa Drake of Port aux Basques; granddaughters, Courtney, Morgan and Paige; brother, George (Alice) Short of Port aux Basques; sisters, Mildred (Frank) Samms of Port aux Basques, Blanche (Robert) Stewart of Dartmouth, NS, Ellen (Aaron) Kearley of Beaver Bank, NS and Sheila (Wallace) Skeard of Port aux Basques; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Short of Port aux Basques; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. - 63, Port aux Basques, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Dr. CharIes L. LeGrow Health Centre. Born in Mouse Island, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Verina (Pope) Anderson. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ronald; was a loving mother to Josephine (Philip) Janes of Eastern Passage, NS, Darlene (Tony) Legge of Mississauga, ON and Denise Musseau of Dartmouth, NS. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Terry, Matthew, Travis, Joshua, Tanner and Riley. She will be forever missed by friends and family. Funeral services took place on Tuesday, November 13 at St. James' Anglican Church in Port aux Basques. Interment at St. James' Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Freeman Henry Northcott announces his passing on Monday, November 12 at the age of 82 years. Born at Deer Island, he was the son of the late John and Mary Northcott. He is also predeceased by his wife, Olive; grandson, Scott Seymour; sisters, Faith Carroll and Lillian Rossiter; brother, Samuel; sister-in-law, Audrey Billard; brothers-in-law, Garfield Carroll, Percy Rossiter, Gabriel Billard, Ward Crewe and Augustus Walters. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gail Scott announce her passing on Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 41 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband, Gary Scott; mother, Marjorie Kettle, Port aux Basques; sister, Glenda Kettle (Ben Sheppard), Pasadena; father, Raymond Kettle, Harbour Breton; grandmother, Mary (Nellie) Kettle, Port aux Basques; mother-in-law, Velma Scott, Ramea; brother-in-law, Calvin (Frances) Scott, Ramea; nephews, David (Laura) Scott, Arnold's Cove and Michael Scott, Ramea; as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and colleagues. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Marjorie (Charlie) Hodder; grandfathers, Frederick Walters and Benjamin Kettle; and father-in-law, Thomas E. Scott. Visitation was held at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service took place on Thursday, November 15 at 2 p.m. from All Saints' Anglican Church, Clarence Street, with Rev. Nellie Thomas officiating. Interment followed at Mount Patricia Cemetery. ROBERTS, Doyle Clayton - Originally of Grand Falls, passed peacefully away, November 13, age 77. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce; and precious daughter, Kathryn. Leaving to forever cherish his life with them are daughters, Cara (John) and Nancy (Shane); son, Michael (Alana); sisters, Bernice (Gerald) and Barbara (Calvin); sisters-in-law, Shirley and Marie; and grandchildren, Kerstin, Heidi, John, Benjamin, Hayley, Zackary, Jennifer and Jacob who loved their "Gramps" beyond all eathly measures. The family would like to thank all friends, especially Kirby and Pastor Murley and Dr. St. Croix and all staff of the Gander Cancer Clinic for their kindness and support. Born in Lock Lomond she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Agnes Campbell. She is also predeceased by husband, Ernest; sister, Alice MacNeil; brother-in-law, Walter MacNeil; sister-in-law, Bonnie Barnett; sister-in-law, Marie Maclsaac; and brother-in-law, Cyril Maclsaac. Born in La Poile, NL, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Bateman. He was also predeceased by brothers, Richard Bateman and Clyde Bateman; sister, Irene Organ; mother and father-in-law, Philip and Bessie Chant; brothers-in-law, Israel Thorne and Samual Anderson. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories loving wife of 45 years, Audrey; son, Glenn (Marlene), Rose Blanche; daughter, Cathy Francis (Ross), La Poile; three grandchildren, Tracy Trask (Terry), Jennifer Francis, both of Corner Brook and Glenda Bateman, St. John's; brother, Russell Bateman (Christine), North Sydney; sisters, Myrtle Thorne, Cole Harbour, NS, Beryl Anderson, Port aux Basques; brother-in-law, Reginald Chant (Violet), La Poile; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Courtney, La Poile, Shirley Ralph (Samual), Grand Bank, Nora Mavin (Thomas), Fortune, Blanche Joiner (Marty), Kanata, ON, as well as a large circle of relatives and many friends. passed peacefully away with her children by her side on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Lakeside Nursing Home, Gander at the age of 97 years. Predeceased by her husband, Lambert; parents, George and Francis Read; son, Albert; brothers, Frank, Charles, John, James, Henry, Albert and Willis; sisters, Clara and Laura. She leaves to mourn her passing, son, Ronald (Shirley) of Clarenville; daughters, Frances (Launce) Skinner of Gander and Marie (Harold) Spracklin of Yorkton, SK; daughter-in-law, Fran Read; grandchildren, Ann, Lois, David, Sandra, Richard, Linda, Rhonda, Jeffrey, Denise and Jason along with 15 great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, wife of 24 years Patricia; daughters, Aimee, Corner Brook and Tena Moore, Glace Bay, NS; step-daughters, Joanne, Corner Brook and Paula, Halifax; step-son Tony, Toronto; grandchildren, Tylor, Dawsyn, Tylor, Curk, Tony, William, Amber and Jasmine;brother, Calvin (Andrea), Port aux Basques; sisters, Patricia Bartlett (Harold), Mary Hefferman (Dave), all of Port aux Basques and Evelyn, Trinidad; Aunt Edna Bateman, Port aux Basques; mother-in-law, Saraha Felix; brothers-in-law, Cecil Felix, Micheal Felix, Bernard Felix and Gordon Felix (Sonia); sisters-in-law, Jocelyn (Glen), Serena (Raymond), Cecila (Steven), Janet (Ray), Rhodena, Joan (Gerard) and Andrea Feaver, along with a large circle of other relatives and friends. The family received friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home on Sunday and Monday. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 4th at 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church, Reverend Fudge officiating.
