KENDELL, BASIL ALBERT
June 16, 1942 - May 7, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Basil Albert Kendell announces his passing on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the age of 65 years. Born in Port aux Basques he was the son of the late Louis and Nora Kendell. He is predeceased by his sister, Florence; brothers, Andrew (Ellen), Edward (Rosina) and David (Edna). He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his family: wife, Audrey (nee Francis) of 27 years marriage; sons, Bruce (Jill) of Alberta, Broderick (Belinda) of Nova Scotia and Joseph (Amanda) of Prince Edward Island; daughter, Victoria (Shawn) of Newfoundland; grandchildren, Colton, Colbie, Ethan, Zachary, Nathan, Brenden and Sara; brothers, William (Barbara) and James (Leona); sister, Jean and also a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday 7-9 p.m., Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. Funeral services took place on Friday, May 9, 2008, 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay, officiated by Rev. George Critchell. Internment followed at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, TCH. WARREN, ISREAL
January 26, 1939 - May 10, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Isreal Warren announces his passing on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the age of 69 years. Born in Dog Cove, he is the son of the late John and Mary Warren. He is predeceased by his sister Bonnie, brother Calvin, brothers-in-law Bill Bragg, Frank Pike and Jason Noseworthy. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his family: sisters Mildred Bragg, Margaret Pike both of Port aux Basques, Minnie (Ken) Green of Florida, Sarah Warren of Burnaby B.C., Bernice Warren of St. John's, Karen (Steve) Murphy and Tammy (Terry Ingram) Noseworthy both of Port aux Basques; brothers John (Ann) Warren of Bay D'Espoir, George (Elaine) Warren of Torbay; sister-in-law Sharon Warren of Torbay and also a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation took place Saturday 7-9 p.m., Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services took place on Monday, May 12, 2008, 11 a.m. at St. James' Anglican Church Channel, officiated by Rev. Hugh Fudge. BILLARD, Melita Elizabeth
(formerly of Grand Bruit)
1928-2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Melita Billard announce her passing on Monday, May 12, 2008 at the age of 79 years. Leaving to mourn her husband of 58 years, Onslow, sisters Cassie (Bob) Miller and Ruth (Cyril) Billard, brothers Wallace (Lorraine) James and John (Jean) James as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents Harvey and Beatrice James and sister Sylvia. Special thanks to staff at the Mountain Hope Manor where she resided for the past six months. Thanks to the staff at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Hospital and the crew of the Marine Eagle. Friends visited Grand Bruit United Church on Tuesday and Wednesday from where the funeral service took place on Thursday, May 15 at 2 p.m. with interment at the United Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. COLLIER, JOHN STANLEY
October 30, 1931 - May 14, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Stanley Collier announce his passing on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at St. Claire's Mercy Hospital, St. John's at the age of 76 years. He was predeceased by his father, Stanley, mother, Susie (Skeard), brothers, Fred and Harold, sisters, Helena and Florence and granddaughter, Michelle. Leaving to mourn, his wife of 54 years Ivy, sons, Jim (Bev) and Rick (Kathy), daughter, Susan, grandchildren Tara, Brandon and Joseph, brothers, Ralph (Bertha) and Norman, sister Ruby, brothers-in-law, Art Piccott, Leo Strowbridge and Russell Strowbridge (Roberta), sisters-in-law, Ella Stanley (Gordon), Winnie Prior and Alfreda Ingram and also a large circle of family and friends. Visitation was held at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Monday, May 19 at 2 p.m. from St. James' Anglican Church with Rev. Fudge officiating. Interment followed at Barachois Cemetery . As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Tower Fund of St. James' Anglican Church. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca

MELBOURNE, ALLAN JAMES CHESTER
Stephenville, NL

November 1,1924 - May 16, 2008
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Allan Melbourne announce his passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, NL, on Friday, May 16, 2008 at the age of 83 years. He will be ever missed by his loving, long time partner Daisy Currie; son, James (Kimberly White); daughter, Elsie (Patrick) Tremblay; grandchildren, Dean, Derick, Darren, Denise and Andrew; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta Skeard and Daphne Patey; sisters-in-law, Susie Melbourne, Hannah Ford, Grace Savoury and Edith Gardner; two very special nieces Paula Dominie and Paulette Roberts; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Cornelia, son, Hartley and brothers, Cecil and Douglas. Allan was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He never lost his sense of humour. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Visitation took place on Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 18 from Wesley United Church, Port aux Basques with Rev. Ritchie officiating. Interment followed at Wesley United Cemetery, Port aux Basques. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dean Charles McNeil announces his passing on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the age of 17 years. Born in Corner Brook he is the son of the late Cynthia Marie McNeil. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Ella McNeil, grandfather, Charles McNeil and great-aunt, Martha McCarthur. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his family: sister, Hayley Charlene McNeil of Port aux Basques; aunts, Karen (Freeman) Cox of Upper Stewiacke, NS, Charlene (Bobby) Outhouse of Souris, PEI, Cheryl (Sam) Young of Okotoks, AB, Nancy (Gerry) Seaward of Upper Tantallon, NS, and Kim (Blake) Hatcher of Barrie, ON; Uncle Dean McNeil of South Branch; cousins, Crystal, Felicia, Christopher, Samantha, Jake, Cassandra, Matthew, Isaiah and Aaliyah and also a large circle of family and many friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques and also on Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. Sylvester's Church, South Branch. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 23, 2008 , 10:30 a.m. at St. Sylvester's Church, South Branch, officiated by Father Lee Lainey. Internment followed at South Branch Cemetery, South Branch. Passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2008 at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, Hubert Gale, age 70. He is survived by his wife, Kaye (nee O'Quinn); daughter, Karen (Bernard Downey), Millville; daughter-in-law, Laura Lee (Reg Keirstead), AB; grandchildren, Victoria, Trevor, Keisha, Kayleigh, Karah and Matthew; sisters, Alma Gale, Great Codroy, Barbara (Ben White), Stephenville, Stella Walters, ON, Alice (Keith Simon), Stephenville Crossing; brothers, Alex (Barbara), Michael (Nancy), BC, mother-in-law, Margaret O'Quinn, St. Andrew's; sisters-in-law, Anne Marie (Eugene O'Quinn), Millville, Millie Wall, Elaine (Don Pearce), Brampton, ON., Genny Gale, Millville, Audrey (Bernard Howse), St. Andrew's; brothers-in-law, Francis (Alice Patten) O'Quinn, St. Andrew's, Fred (Lucy) O'Quinn, Pasadena, Armand (Val) O'Quinn, NB., Kevin (Joyce) O'Quinn, ON., Gerry (Melinda) O'Quinn, St. Andrew's. Hubert was predeceased by his son, Leon (August 29, 1999), parents, Henry and Agnes Gale, sisters, Doreen (Joe Anderson), Frances, Mary (William O'Quinn), father-in-law, Joseph O'Quinn, brothers-in-law, Cyril Gale and Ronnie Lucas. Hubert was a kind and loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He had many friends in the Codroy Valley . He loved them all dearly. Friends visited St. Anne's Church, Upper Ferry on Wednesday and Thursday from where the funeral mass was, held on Friday, May 23 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Mt. St. Thomas RC Cemetery with Fr. Lee Lainey officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Mt. St. Thomas RC Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Thomas Edward Carter announces his passing on Friday, May 23, 2008 at the age of 79 years. Born in Cape Ray he is the son of the late William and Louisa Carter. Thomas is predeceased by one sister, one brother, baby son James, father-in-law Stanley Lomond, sisters-in-law Jane Lillington and Shirley Osmond. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his family, wife, Julia of 49 years marriage; daughter Sharon (Robert) Osmond of Port aux Basques; grandchildren Sherry (Dan) d'Entremont and Robert Osmond Jr., both of Port aux Basques; great-grandchildren, Sasha and Jeremy; mother-in-law. Lillian Lomond of Port aux Basques; brothers-in-law Andrew (Debbie) Lomond, Samuel (Elizabeth) Lomond, Calvin Lomond all of Port aux Basques and Wilfred (Elaine) Lomond of Pasadena; sisters-in-law Catherine Osmond (Robert) and Susie (Jerry) Osmond both of Port aux Basques and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation took place on Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, 2 p.m. at St. Paul 's Anglican Church, Grand Bay, officiated by Rev. George Critchell. Interment followed at St.Paul's Anglican Cemetery, TCH. STRICKLAND, MARY ANN
November 5, 1920 - May 26, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Ann Strickland announces her passing on Monday, May 26, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Bom in Harbour Breton, she was the daughter of the late George and Rosanna Ansford. She is predeceased by granddaughter, Denise, brothers, Chesley and William, sons-in-law Frank Savery and Russell Graham and brother-in-law Lloyd Dyke. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her children. Florence (Cecil) Anderson of Pasadena, Ethel Savery of Port aux Basques, James (Ivy) Strickland of Ajax, Ontario, Kay (Nelson) Osmond, Leo (Cook) Strickland, John (Patty) Strickland and Dianne Graham, all of Port aux Basques, 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, sister Jane Dyke of Stephenville and her lifelong friends Mary Lomond and family and also a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Visitation took place on Tuesday, 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 29, 2008 , 2 p.m. at The Salvation Army Church, Grand Bay , officiated by Captains Paul and Michelle Blake. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, TCH. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home Port aux Basques, 695-2300.
