HAYMAN, Benjamin
August 23, 1919 - May 1, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Benjamin Hayman announce his peaceful passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at the age of 87 years. Born at Fox Island, NL, he was the son of the late Hughie and Mariah Hayman. He was also predeceased by his wife, Cassie in August of 1981; and son-in-law, Bertrum Hayward. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving daughters, Marion (George) Seymour of Isle aux Morts, Marie Hayward of Port aux Basques, Wilhelmena (Cyril) Murphy of Torbay, NL, Mary (Don) Squibb of Port aux Basques, Janet (Arch) Kearley of Isle aux Morts and Alvina Hayman of Kilbride, NL; grandchildren, Denise Herritt, Wilhelmena Hardy, Ben Hayward, Cassie Gillam, Rosalyn Hayward, Sheldon Hayward, Dwayne Murphy, Craig Murphy, Hayman Murphy, Tanya Fagan, Lemonte Squibb, Travis Kearley, Trevor Kearley, Darron Hayman and Shawna Manning; 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts. Funeral services took place on Saturday, May 5, 2 p.m. at Holy Spirit Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Duncan Granter. Interment followed at Holy Spirit Cemetery, Isle aux Morts. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

KNOTT, Michael Paul
KNOTT, Michael Paul
- 44, died suddenly on May 1, 2007, in Halifax. Born in Channel, NL, he was a son of Kathleen Knott and the late Eric Knott. Paul was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, serving as a cook in the Navy until his retirement in 2003. He did two tours of duty in the Persian Gulf and served with NATO Peace Keeping Forces on the Israel/Sinai Border. Left to mourn his passing are his mother, Kathleen; wife, Margaret (Warren); daughter, Jennifer, East Dover; son, Andrew, Grande Prairie, Alta.; sister, Kathy (Norman) Strickland, Hatchet Lake; brothers, Tom (Doris), Grande Prairie, Alta.; Reg (Carol-ann), Dartmouth; nieces and nephews; family, friends, and neighbours. His father, Eric, predeceased him in 1981. A memorial service was held in St. Timothy's Anglican Church, Hatchet Late, on Thursday, May 10, with Rev. Lisa Vaughn officiating, and the funeral service was held in St. James' The Great Anglican Church in Channel, N.L. on Saturday, May 12, with Rev. Canon Dr. Hugh Fudge officiating. Paul was laid to rest in St. James' Cemetery in Barachois Hill, NL, beside his father.

WARREN, John Thomas
September 7, 1940 - May 3, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Thomas Warren at age 66 on Thursday, 3 May 2007, at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center. John resided in Fox-Roost and was the son of the late Dorman and Gertrude Warren, brother of the late Leslie (Jane) Warren. The family mourns their great loss and remembers the fond memories of John as a husband, father and grandfather. John leaves behind his loving wife, Marie of 44 years marriage; and his children who adored him, Madonna (Louis MacDonald) of Kippens, NL, Perry (Roslyn) Warren of Margaree, NL, Lori-Ann (Michael) Leamon of St. Albert, AB, and Ashley Warren of St. Albert, AB; grandchildren, Jonathan, Scotty, Nicholas, Maria, Dylan, Colby and Mitchell; brother, Gordon Warren of Port aux Basques, NL; sister-in-law, Harriet Warren of Fox-Roost, NL; brothers-in-law, Lloyd (Susan) Blagdon of Halifax, NS, Thomas (Marie) Blagdon of Coomb’s Cove, Fortune Bay NL; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Visitation took place on May 4-5, 2007 at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church. The Funeral service, followed by an Interment, took place on Sunday, May 6, 2007, 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Duncan Granter at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church in Margaree/Fox-Roost. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

MULLINS, ERIC
Port aux Basques, NL
April 4, 1930 - May 7, 2007

Passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Mount Uniacke, N.S. on Monday, May 7th, 2007 at the age of 77 years. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Cora, of 51 years; one sister Georgina LeRiche; six children: Yvonne (Lew) Ingram, Mount Uniacke, N.S., Wanda Mullins (Gary), Kitchener, ON, Danny (Darlene) Mullins, Port aux Basques, Adrian Mullins, Lower Sackville, N.S., Valerie (Ted) Osmond, Mount Uniacke, N.S., David Mullins (Sarah), Lower Sackville, N.S.; 3 grandchildren: Todd Ingram, Kimberly Ingram (William), Krystal Osmond; 1 great-grandchild William Coley Jr., along with a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was very active in the St. James Anglican Church as Lay Minister, a member of the Orange Lodge and the Odd Fellows Lodge, as well as other community activities. He will always be remembered and sadly missed. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques on Wednesday and Thursday. The Funeral Service took place at St. James Anglican Church on Friday, May 11th at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Fudge. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. April 27, 1926 - May 8, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family and friends of the late Eric Strickland announce his passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre, Port aux Basques on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the age of 81 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories one sister, Irene Collins, Kippens; one brother, Charles, Lunnenberg, NS; friend, Joan Anderson, Port aux Basques; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by parents, Henry and Sarah Jane (nee Harris) Strickland; wife, Ruby (nee Strickland); friend, Jessie Frances; brothers, Allan (Eva Nee: Bryan) and Rendell; and brother-in-law, Stanley Collins. Friends visited Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral service took place on Friday, May 11th at 3:30 p.m. from Wesley United Church with Reverend Pat Ritchie officiating. GALE, Gerald
October 17, 1927 - May 15, 2007

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, Gerald Gale at the age of 79 years. Born at South Branch he was the son of the late Jessie and John Gale. He was also predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Annie and Arthur Aucoin; brothers John (Elsie), Edward, Andrew and Michael; brother-in-law, Ernest Creaser; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Aucoin, Marcia Gale and Janie Gale. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife, Leona of 48 years marriage; children, LaDawn Gale (Kevin) of Richmond Hill, ON, Shane (Jennifer) of Shelburne, ON; grandchildren, Brandon, Justin and Marissa; brothers, Paul Gale (Kay) of South Branch, Bernard Gale of Victoria, Australia, Frank (Ella) Gale of Stephenville, Gordon (Clara) Gale, Wallace (Shirley) Gale, Robert (Bryde) Gale, Pius (Cecilia) Gale all of South Branch; sister, Loretta MacIsaac of South Branch; sisters-in-law, Christina Gale of Halifax, NS, Kay Gale of Sudbury, ON, Bernice (Ron) Hiscock of Millville, Clara (Clive) Osmond of St. Andrew's, Christine (Jim) Gibbons of Scarborough, ON; brothers-in-law, Bill Aucoin of South Branch, Clem (Rose) Aucoin of Millville, Walter (Annie) Aucoin of Millville and a very large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. A memorial service in his memory was held at St. Sylvester RC Church South Branch officiated by Father Lee Lainey. Interment of ashes followed at St. Sylvester Cemetery, South Branch. GILLAM, Patricia Cavell
1923 - 2007

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of their loved one Patricia C. Gillam on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the age of 83 years. Born at Port aux Basques she was the daughter of the late Hanna Maude and Charles White. She was also predeceased by her husband, Wilfred; brothers, Chesley, Joseph and Wilson; brother-in-law, George Butler; parents-in-law, Wilfred and Cedella Gillam; sisters-in-law, Floss (Albert) Sheaves, Jean (Marion) Samalko, Georgina (Reg) Ford and Leona Lawrence; brother-in-law, Emanuel (Julia) Gillam, Roy Gillam and Joseph Walsh. Patricia leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children, Bette (Junior) Bragg, Paul (Julia) Gillam, Lorna (Ben) Savory, David (Jocelyn) Gillam, Sharyn (Darryl) Ulrich, Derek (Paula) Gillam, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Leonard (Rita) White, Harold (Donna) White, Ronald (Elizabeth) White, Mary (Frank) Wallis, Viola Butler and Vera (Tex) Fogle; sisters-in-law, Dorothy White, Bernice White, Mary Gillam and Sheila (Grant) Lundrigan; brother-in-law, Reg Lawrence and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday evening 7-9 p.m. Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral service took place on Friday, May 18, 2007, 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Canon Hugh Fudge. Interment followed at St. James' Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300. Patricia was a kind, caring, giving woman who was well liked by all who knew her.

FRANCIS, Ronald Peter
1939 - 2007

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of their loved one Ronald Peter Francis at London Health Science Centre, London, Ontario on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the age of 67. Born at LaPoile he was the son of the late Charles and Martha Francis. Ronald leaves to mourn his loving children Melodie of Halifax, Ron of Kitchener, ON, and Darcy (Cindy) of Kitchener, ON. Grandchildren: Charlaine, Melodie, Jamie, Tristen, Brent, Winter Rose, Emma, Liam, Brooklyn and Bridget. Sister Mary Jane (James) Taylor of St. John's, brothers: Clifford (Elsie), Blandford (Olive) of Burnt Islands, Garfield (Mildred) of Halifax and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation took place on Sunday at St. Augustine's Church, Margaree. Funeral services took place on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church officiated by Rev. Duncan Granter. Interment followed at St. Augustine's Cemetery, Margaree. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

PIKE, George Bell
1928-2007
Port aux Basques, NL

Passed away at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre, Port aux Basques, on Friday May 18, 2007, George Bell Pike in his 79th year. George was a member of Cabot Masonic Grand Lodge # 13 Port aux Basques and a member of the Shriners Mazol Temple of Newfoundland and Labrador. Survived by wife Hilda (Stone), son Frank (Shirley), daughter Joan (Tony) and grandson Andrew. Also, sister Ellen Roberts, brothers James (Ruby), Bill (Ruby), Mack (Ann), nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. George was predeceased by parents Honorable Frank and May, and brother-in-law, Stanley Roberts. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques on Sunday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service was held on Monday, May 21 at 1:00 PM from Wesley United Church, Port aux Basques, Rev Patricia Ritchie officiated. Interment followed at Mount Patricia Cemetery, Corner Brook. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Shriners Fund for Burned and Crippled Children. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: sisters, Francis (Tom) Tobin, Kay (Caleb) Carter, Port aux Basques; Annie White, O'Regan's; brothers: Hughie (Mae) Lavoy, Alberta; Lockie, Vincent (Brenda), Port aux Basques; Jimmy (Doreen), O'Regan's; Kevin (Yvonne), Cape Ray; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Christina; parents Emily and Lockie; brothers: Martin, Duncan, Chesley; brother-in-law, Tom White. Born at Belleoram NL, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Francis (nee Davage) Holmans. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Linda; sons, Stanley and Phillip; husband, Cecil; granddaughter, Debbie Wells; brother, William Holmans; brother-in-law, Garnet Strickland, Robert (Laura) Strickland and Stan Strickland; step-brother, Clayton Poole; step-sister, Ruth Dicks; and step-mother, Carrie Holmans. TAYLOR, Reuben J. C.
December 21, 1923 - May 30, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Reuben John Clifford Taylor announce his passing at his residence in Burnt Islands on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the age of 83 years. Born at LaPoile he was the son of the late George Albert and Jessie (nee Keeping) Taylor. He was also predeceased by his beloved daughter, Melica Taylor Lillington; grandson, baby boy Lillington; mother and father-in-law, Alfred and Rose Organ; brothers, Stanley (Helen) Taylor and Norman Taylor; sisters, Hazel (Archibald) Bond, Agnes (William) Purchase and Beatrice (John) King; sister-in-law, Florence (Thomas) Bond; brothers-in-law, Harold Organ and Henry Organ. Funeral services took place on Saturday, June 2, 2007, 3:30 p.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church in Burnt Islands, officiated by Rev. Andrew Hussey. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.
