EVANS, Marion Bernice
1943-2004
Marion Bernice Evans
, 61 of Moncton passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday May 2, 2004, following a lengthy illness. Born March 4, 1943 in Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Rowsell) and Raymond Evans. Marion served with the RCAF as a leading Aircraftwoman for many years in various parts of Canada, and was employed for many years at Tandem Ltd. on Mill Road in Moncton. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Evans (Ray) of Moncton, NB, Nicole Gagnon (Roland) of McKees Mills; sisters, Rowena, Brenda, Cynthia, Jocelyn, Sharon, Pamela and Dale; brothers, Alfred, Brian, Derek; and granddaughter, Madison Gagnon and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by her parents, (Dorothy and Raymond); brothers, Randolph-George and John. "Toots" was a caring strong willed independent woman who will be dearly missed by her family. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2004 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy, officiated by Rev. Evelyn Smith and Rev. Dawn Barrett. Interment of cremains followed, as she was laid to rest with her mother (Dorothy Evans) at the church cemetery in Codroy. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

FARRELL, Gerald C. Farrell
Age 76

Is with great sadness that the family of the late Gerald C. Farrell announce his passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Thursday, May 6, 2004, age 76 years. He leaves to mourn his children: sons, Christopher (Jennifer), Randy (Juanita) and Ronnie (Faith); daughters, Ellie Edmunds, Sharon Caines and Carol Rodman; brothers, Henry, Isle aux Morts, and Tom (Maude) Rose Blanche as well as a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Alice (Feb. 20, 2004). Funeral service was held on Saturday, May 8 at 2 p.m. from Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts with Rev. Hubert Vallis officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.

HARDY, William
1921-2004

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Friday, May 7, 2004, William R. Hardy of Port aux Basques at the age of 82 years. Born in Cape La Hune, he was the son of the late John and Charlotte Hardy. He leaves to mourn with fond memories, his loving wife, Melita, of 60 years marriage; and three children, Edna Hiscock of Corner Brook, NL, Arthur (Dallas), and Robert (Elizabeth) of Port aux Basques; eight grandchildren, Andrea Lewell, Dartmouth, Connie Dolomount, Corner Brook, Wendy Archambault, Alberta, Christopher Hardy, Michelle (Harry) Hardy, Paul Hardy of Port aux Basques, Jason (Robbie) Fraser, Ontario, Joy Bragg of British Columbia; and eight great-grandchildren, Tara, James and Melanie Lewell, Andrew and Matthew Dolomount, Harry Osmond, Kaitlyn and Becky Bragg; sister, Clara Dominie of Morrisville, Bay d'Espoir, NL, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Conrad Hiscock; sisters, Maude, Martha, Gladys, Mary and Ester; and brothers, John, Jim, Edward and Wilson. Visitation took place on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2004 at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel, officiated by Rev. Hugh Fudge. SPENCER, Annie Mary
(Formerly of Scotland)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Annie Mary Spencer (Hutcheson) formerly from Kinquessie, Invernesshire, Scotland (Librarian of 18 years) announce her passing on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in her 94 year. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her only daughter, with whom she resided until 1990 before moving to the long term care unit; Christine Buffett (Jim) of Port aux Basques; granddaughters, Heather Porter (Jim), Danette Kelly (John), Tracey Squarey (Danny); great-grandchildren, Angela, Samantha, Kyla, Kelsey and Matthew; sister-in-law, Myrtle Spencer of Harbour Breton; nieces, Norma Valle (Angus) of Harbour Breton and Gertie Kane (Chesley) of Port aux Basques, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends from Harbour Breton and Port aux Basques. She is predeceased by her husband, Nathan James Spencer of Harbour Breton; mother, Christine Hutcheson of Kinquessie, Scotland; and her lifelong friends, Frank and Lizzie Anderson. Visitation took place from Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques Tuesday, 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services was held on Friday, May 14, 2004 at 2 p.m. from St. James' Anglican Church with Rev. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; and son, Clifford. It is with great sadness that the family of the late William (Bill) Fiander announce his passing at Scarborough General Hospital in Scarborough, Ontario on May 19, 2004. He was the son of Kay and the late George Fiander. He leaves to mourn his wife, Alice; children, Jon and Cathy; grandchildren, David and Kandice; mother, Kay; sisters, Shirley Fountain (Bruce), Quesnil BC, Elaine Vickers (Jim), Port aux Basques; Hilda Anderson (Mike), Scarborough, Ontario; brothers, George (Barb), Alan, Jim (Debbie) Terry (Rose), Bob (Doreen), Brian (Susan) from Halifax. Randy (Lorna) of Toronto, Ontario, Dennis (Jackie) of Smithers, BC., Darrell from Codroy, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his father, George; and his nephew, Colin Anderson in 2001. Visitation took place on Saturday and Sunday at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy. SMITH, Annie Laura
Died peacefully at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on Friday, May 21, 2004, Annie Laura Smith in her 92nd year. Born in Woodville, Codroy Valley on September 29, 1912, Annie was the eldest daughter of William and Minnie Kendell. Annie was a loving wife to Benedict, a dedicated mother of 13 children, and had 51 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Benedict; daughters, Margaret and Geraldine; son, Joseph; brother, James; and sisters, Phoebe and Elizabeth. Annie is survived by her children, Bridget, Tilley, Marie, Edward, Vince, Allan, Gerard, Rita, Jean and Jerome and their families, as well as by her sister, Mary Gale. Annie will be fondly remembered for her dedication to her family, her quick wit, and strong will. She lived a full, blessed life, and will be missed by all who were fortunate to know and love her. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on May 24, 2004 at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Upper Ferry with Father Lee Lainey and Monsignor White officiating. Interment followed in Chapel Green Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.

Born in Harbour Le Cou, he was the son of the late Charles and Suzanne Brown. He leaves to mourn with fond memories, his loving wife, Nora, of 62 years marriage; one son, Edison (Harriet) Brown, Rose Blanche; grandchildren, Cynthia (Jim) Strickland and Roxanne, St. John's, NL; great-grandchildren, Victoria and Jamie; sister, Vera Clarke, Rose Blanche; sisters-in-law, Alfreda Brown and Mary Brown of Glace Bay, NS and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, George, Wilson and Gordon; brother-in-law, George Clarke. Born at St. John's, NL, she was the daughter of the late Ethelbert and Mabel Rowsell. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her 10 children, Rowena (David) Napier Kingston, ON, Alfred Evans Codroy, Brenda Miesseau, Kingston, ON, Cynthia (Gerald) Evans, Codroy, Brian (Leona) Evans, St. John's, NL, Jocelyn (Donald) Evans, Kingston, ON, Sharon (Greg) Evans, Halifax, NS, Pamela Evans, Kingston, ON, Dale (Eric) Marriott Mission, BC, and Derek Evans, Nanaimo, BC; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Snelgrove, Mount Pearl, NL and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by her husband, William Raymond Evans; sons, Randolph-George and John; daughter, Marion (Toots); grandson, Brian Bowen; son-in-law, Thomas Miesseau; sister, Maisie Cox; and brother, Frank Rowsell.
