BILLARD, Harold Roy
July 19, 1934 - March 3, 2014

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold Billard announce his sudden passing at the Charles L LeGrow Health Centre in Port Aux Basque at the age of 79 years. Born at Grand Bruit, Harold was the son of the late Angus and Winnie (Riles) Billard. Predeceased by in laws John and Emma Mac Donald, Sandy Billard, Stephen (Bud) Mac Donald, Delores MacDonald. He leaves to mourn his wife Elsie (MacDonald) of 54 years, daughter Geraldine, and son Kevin of Port Aux Basque, granddaughter Melissa (Lisa) Pouch Cove, Sister Theresa Billard, brother Joe Billard Burgeo, Brothers in law Wayne Mac Donald, Sidney Mac Donald, George (Evelyn Mac Donald, Port Aux Basque, sisters in law Kathleen (Wayne) Francis, LaPoile, Emily Mac Donald Ramea, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family received friends from Fillatre Funeral Home Port Aux Basque on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service took place on Thursday at 2PM from Wesley United Church with interment to follow at the Wesley United Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers were gracious accepted. DURNFORD, Ida Elizabeth

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ida Elizabeth Durnford (nee Bragg) announce her peaceful passing on Friday March 14, 2014 at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health center at the age of 73 years. Born at Channel, Ida is the daughter of the late Chesley and Georgina Bragg. She was predeceased by her grandmother Beatrice Hardy and sister Linda Gillam. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her devoted husband of 38 years Merrill Durnford, her daughter Linda Rose (Darryl) and grandchildren Joshua and Jenna of Guelph Ontario; Brothers Horatio Bragg (Lucy), Roland Bragg (Beverly), James Bragg (Marie), Gary Bragg, Robert Bragg (Harriet ), Sisters Kathleen Ingram (Eric), Sylvia Cawdry (Don Asap ), Brother-in-law Arthur Gillam and a wide circle of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. At Ida's request, cremation has already taken place, and a memorial service took place on March 17th, 2 PM at St. James Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Canon Hannah Dicks. A very special thank you to Dr. David Thomas and the staff at the Charles L. LeGrow Health Center who took such great care of her during her illness. KENDALL, Gordon William
(October 28, 1942 - March 9, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Kendall announces his passing on Sunday March 9, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 71 years. Born at Margaree, Gordon was the son of the late John W and Dorothy (nee Scott) Kendall. He was also predeceased by his brother Edwin, uncles; Gordon and Edgar Kendall, brother in law John T Billard. He leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories his brothers and sisters; Leslie Kendall, Philp Kendall, Larry (Lorena) Kendall, Shirley (Chesley) Osmond all of Margaree, Vivian (Edward) McQuarrie of Doyles, Jeanette Billard of Margaree, Nancy Dodge (David Osmond) of Port aux Basques. Gordon will also be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews Lisa Carroll, Wade Osmond, Valerie Osmond, Byron McQuarrie, Kimberly McQuarrie, Melody Kendall, Jeffery Kendell, Michael Dodge, Tommy Dodge, Corey Kendall, Susan Harvey and a large circle of extended family and many friends. Visitation took place on Monday evening and Tuesday at St. Augustine's Anglican Church in Margaree. KETTLE, James (Jim) Carter
(January 29, 1944 - March 17, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James C Kettle announces his passing on March 17, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 70. Born in Grand Bay West, James was the son of the late Martin and Annie (nee Carter) Kettle. He was also predeceased by his infant brother Brian, brothers Ralph, Tom and Albert, stepsister-in-law Elizabeth (Robert) Horton, and brothers-in-law Jack and Calvin Feltham, sister-in-law Anna Lucy. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Mylida of 50 years marriage, sons Jim (Jackie) Kettle of Port aux Basques, Troy (Amanda) Kettle of Margaree-Fox Roost, and Cindy (Max) Kettle of St.Andrew's. Proud grandfather of Kyle, Lucas, Brittany, Sequoyah and Morgan. Sisters Ethel (Paul) Blinkhorn of Hinton, Alberta, Debbie (Brian) Kettle of Port aux Basques, Nancy (Harold) Leamon of Foxtrap, NL, brothers Bronsen (Harriet) Kettle of Maple Ridge, BC, Max Kettle of Sydney, NS and Calvin Kettle of Port aux Basques. Who passed away in Halifax, NS, March 27, 2014. Deborah's ashes will be laid to rest with her grandparents, Isaac and Caroline Pearce on Sept. 13 at 11 a.m., at St. James Anglican Cemetery. Prayer will be officiated by the Rev. Hannah Dicks.

O'QUINN, Benedict (Dick) Andrew
(December 28, 1934 - March 13, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Benedict (Dick) Andrew O'Quinn announces his sudden passing on Thursday March 13th at the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 79 years. Born in the Codroy Valley, Dick was the son of the late John Martin and Rose (nee MacNeil) O'Quinn. He was also predeceased by his brother Theodore and infant twin siblings, brother-in-laws Paul Healey, Stephen Doran, Neil Duffy and Charlie Black. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his devoted wife Kathleen (nee Poirier). Loving father of Debbie O'Quinn, Beverley (Byron) Wells, Paula O'Quinn, Wendy O'Quinn (Carl Brown). Proud grandfather of Gregory, Stephanie (Andrew) Bohn, Krista, Jason, Victoria, Hailey, Luke, Ella and proud great-grandfather of Elizabeth. The funeral mass took place on Tuesday, March 18th, 2 PM at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, officiated by Father Lee Lainey. OSMOND, Gerald
(September 22, 1929 - March 10, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gerald Osmond announces his passing on Monday, March 10, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 84 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Gerald was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (nee Lomond) Osmond. He was also predeceased by his sister Jean and brother Jack (Phoebe) Osmond. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his sister Beulah (Philip) Osmond of Millville, brothers Richard (Daisy) Osmond of Scarborough Ontario, and Gordon (Geraldine) Osmond of Port aux Basques and a large circle of nieces, and nephews and many many special friends. He also leaves his long time partner Nina Jeans and her family of Port aux Basques. Gerald had a great zest for life, his passion was gardening and he spent many happy hours in his green house planting and producing some of the best flowers and vegetables around. In his spare time Gerald enjoyed dancing and for many years he and Nina danced every Saturday where he enjoyed himself immensely and he made everyone around him feel good. Any one who knew Gerald was very blessed to have had him in their lives as he was truly a gift to everyone. Visitation took place on Tuesday from 7-9 PM, Wednesday and Thursday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Saturday, March 15, 11 AM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel, officiated by Rev. TAOR, Dr. Richard Ernest
(August 13, 1940 - March 1, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Richard Taor announce his death on the 1st of March after a short illness, borne with his usual great dignity and fortitude. Dr. Taor proudly served the community following his arrival from Britain with his family in 1977, until his retirement in 2011. As a surgeon and General Practitioner he was integral in bringing the best healthcare to the Southwest corner of the island. He leaves behind an unequivocal and unchallenged legacy of patient care, a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He was passionate about his work and truly loved what he did. He is mourned by his wife Magda, children Fiona, Christopher and their partners; siblings William, Lesley and Helen and their partners, as well as his extended family and close friends both near and far. Viewing will be held at East Haven Funeral Home in Grand Bay from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9PM on Monday March 3 2014, followed by a Funeral Service at 3PM on Tuesday March 4 2014 at St. James Anglican Church. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clarence Stanley Vautier announces his passing on Saturday, March 22nd at the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 81 years. Born in LaPoile, Clarence was the son of the late Stanley and Florence (nee Taylor) Vautier. He was also predeceased by his son, Daniel, sisters, Dora Organ, Bernice Chant, and Hazel Vautier, brother, Rodney Vautier, brothers in law, Arthur Chant, William Anderson, Jack Purchase, Leonard Fry, Calvin Chant, Gus Hann, George Dollimount, and Maxwell Chant, sisters in law, Margaret Hann, Alice Dollimount and Charlotte Chant.
