ANDERSON, Naomi Florence
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Naomi Florence Anderson announces her passing on Monday, March 18th, 2013 at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 79 years. Born on Fogo Island, Naomi was the daughter of the late Norman & Blanche Fennemore. Predeceased by brother Ross and sisters Winnifred & Madeline Freake. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories: her devoted husband of 59 years Wilfred; sons: Calvin (Donna), Sydney Mines, Frazer (Stella), St. John’s, and Wade (Tanya), Paradise; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. She will be sadly missed by her brother George (Geraldine) Bown, Toronto, sister Myrtle (Doug) Freake, Joe Batts Arm, and very special niece Audrey Lomond; as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basque on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 22nd at 2:00 PM from St. James Anglican Church, Reverend Hannah Dicks officiating. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society, as Naomi was a breast cancer survivor of over 30 years. The family guestbook may be signed by visiting www.fillatre.ca

 

BILLARD, Roy Maxwell
November 4, 1934 - March 29, 2013
Roy Maxwell Billard
, age 79, passed away peacefully in the Victoria Jubliee Cancer Hospital in Victoria, BC on Good Friday, March 29, 2013 with his loving wife and family by his side. Roy was born in Channel NL, and was the son of the late Fred and Gladys (Mills) Billard. Roy leaves to mourn his wife Rosemary (Dingwell), his son Terry (Dorothy) Billard, his daughter Shelly (John) Dove and daughter Kim (Bruce) Cornfield as well as two grandchildren, Michael and Montanna.
May he rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon him.

CARTER, CATHERINE (KAY) MARGARET
December 14, 1935 - March 1, 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Catherine (Kay) Carter announces her passing on Friday, March 1 at her family residence at the age of 77 years. Born at the Wreckhouse, Catherine was the daughter of the late Lockland and Emily (nee Moore) McDougall. She was also predeceased by her brothers Chesley, Duncan, Martin, Johnny, Lockie, father and mother in law William and Gladys Carter, Alex and Phoebe Carter, brother in laws Frank Carter, Ronald Carter. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her devoted husband Caleb of 50 years, only son Bill (Betty) Carter Port aux Basques; granddaughters Rebecca and Kathleen. She will also be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters; Hughie (Mae) McDougall Lavoy AB, Kevin (Yvonne) McDougall Cape Ray, Jim (Doreen) MacDougall O'Regan's, Vince (Brenda) McDougall Port aux Basques, Annie White O'Regan's NL, Frances Tobin Port aux Basques; sisters in law, Vida Walsh Mississauga ON, Veronica (Ignatius) Walsh Plate Cove West NL, Brenda Reid Little Rapids, Jessie Stowe Pasadena NL, Dianne (Hubert) Butt St. John's, NL, Wanda (John) McCarthy Benoit's Cove NL, and a large circle of special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews who all held a special place in aunt Kay's heart. Visitation took place on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral mass took place on Monday, March 4, 2 p.m. at Wesley United Church, officiated by Father Edward Terry. Interment followed at St. Micheal's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Trans Canada Highway. DOCKENDORFF, Irene Stella
May 6, 1947 - March 4, 2016
Irene Stella Dockendorff (nee Herritt)
passed away suddenly in hospital on Friday March 4th, 2016, surrounded by family. Irene was born in Burnt Islands, NL she was 68. Irene is predeceased by her parents Thomas and Elsie Herritt (nee Edmunds), her brothers, Wyndell, Philip, and Isaac and her sisters, Suzanna and Eva. Irene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Margo Thorne (Yellowknife), her siblings, Thomas (& Shirley) Herritt, Hazel (& Minter King deceased), James Herritt, Clarissa (& Alan Porter), Ephrim (& Eilean) Herritt, Ruth (& Gerald Wells), Christina (& Bob MacDonald), John Herritt and Irene was an aunt, great aunt and great, great aunt to many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Irene was working for the Province of Nova Scotia, Department of Health at the time of her death and previously worked with the Halifax Police Department, and the Halifax Shopping Center. Irene was a courageous survivor of breast cancer and was a passionate advocate for breast cancer awareness and prevention. The family asks in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her name. There will be no services, Irene will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery with her mom (Nan) in Newfoundland this summer (July/August). Please check back as we will update by the end of May once arrangements have been confirmed.
Irene was a vibrant beautiful woman who lived life to the fullest and would encourage all to do the same, she will be dearly missed.

LOMOND, ADAM MORGAN JAMES
August 20, 1992 - March 15, 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Adam Lomond announces his sudden passing on Friday, March 15 at the age of 20 years. Adam loved going in the country with his Pop and working in the shop, taking apart and figuring out how everything worked. Adam was a young man known for his infectious smile and helpful attitude. He was always there to offer everyone a helpful hand. He will be remembered for the kindness and gentleness that he shared with his family and friends that he met throughout his short life. Adam is in heaven with his sister Jill Catherine. He leaves to mourn his loving family with precious memories; parents Elaine and Trevor Mauger, his little brother Travis, grandparents Mary and Morgan Lomond, Bernice White, great-grandmother Hazel Kettle and her companion Harry LaFosse, uncles Jim (Michelle) Lomond Carbon AB, Gerry (Suzanne) Lomond Medicine Hat AB, Glen (Cathy) Mauger Port aux Basques, Kirby Mauger (Bobby Joe) Corner Brook, Aunt Sherry Mauger Port aux Basques, cousins Erin, Julia, Megan, Kaylee, Cameron, girlfriend Kathleen Roberts, friends Walter (Brenda) Roberts Codroy Valley and a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. Visitation took place on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral service took place on Tuesday March 19, 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. To honor Adam's wishes cremation followed with the interment to take place at a later date. LOMOND, Mary Elizabeth (Betty)
(April 6, 1943 - March 17, 2013)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Betty Lomond announces her passing on Sunday March 17, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 69 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Betty was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie Osmond. She was also predeceased by her husband Harry in 2000, brother Harry Osmond, sister Eileen Brunken, father and mother in law Isaac and Esther Lomond and a large circle of brother and sister in laws. Leaving to mourn with many fond and precious memories of a loving mother and grandmother are her children; Michael (Liz) Lomond Cape Ray with whom she resided, Tony (Denise) Lomond Port aux Basques, Michelle (Steven) Peacock Peterborough ON, Craig Lomond Brampton ON, Amanda (Rodney) Parrott Oromocto NB, Jocelyn (Junior) Mercure Halifax NS. Grandchildren; Stephanie, Stacey, Ryan, Jenessa, Joshua, Sheldon, Trevor, Barbara, Brooke and Ethan. She will also be sadly missed by her brother Reg (Evelyn) Osmond Port aux Basques, sister Joyce (Bill) Martin Oshawa ON and a large circle of brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Monday from 7-9 PM, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Faith Pentecostal Church in Grand Bay from where the funeral service took place on Thursday March 21, 2 PM officiated by Pastor Jamie Warren. Born at Doyles, Irene was the daughter of the late Archibald and Bertha (nee Macarthur) MacDonald, she was also predeceased by her brothers Joseph Angus MacDonald, Daniel MacDonald. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories sons: Dean MacDonald Edmonton AB, Sean MacDonald Doyles; brothers, Roddie MacDoanld, John MacDonald both of Doyles, Douglas MacDonald Upper Ferry, Brian MacDonald (Rita) Kitchener ON; sisters Josephine (Jack) Ruth, Genevieve MacDonald (Bob) both of Ontario, Dorothy MacDonald Toronto and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late William McNeil announces his passing on Sunday, March 3, at Western Memorial Hospital at the age of 79 years. Born in Port aux Basques, William was the son of the late John and Martha Jane (nee Kettle) McNeil. He was predeceased by his daughter Colleen Standing, grandson Jamie McNeil, daughter in law Cindy McNeil, brothers Jim (Molly), Fred (Violet), Art (Alice), sisters Elizabeth (Tom) Luedee, Martha (Howard) Osmond, Minnie (Bill) Matthews, Mildred (Malcolm) Campbell. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories devoted wife Elsie (nee Gaulton) of 58 years; loving father of David McNeil (Sandra) Marystown NL, Judy (Freddy) LeRiche Port aux Basques, Vivian (David) White Bridgewater NS, Yvonne (Claude) Hann Halifax NS, Tony McNeil (Christine) South Branch, Audrey (Derek) Warren Saskatchewan, Bonnie McNeil Victoria BC, Karen (Jeff) Dickson Oromocto NB, Roger McNeil Port aux Basques; 19 grandchildren; five great grandchildren, a large circle of brother and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and many friends. WALL, Edna Madonna
(December 10, 1936 - March 2, 2016)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edna Wall (nee MacDonald) announces her sudden passing at her residence in Cape Ray on Wednesday March 2, at the age of 79 years. Edna was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary MacDonald. She was also predeceased by her husband Joseph Wall, son Wayne Wall, brothers; Clevus MacDonald, Colin MacDonald, Gerald MacDonald, daughter in law Margaret Wall. A loving mother, Edna will be fondly remembered by her children; Earl Wall, Marjorie (Steve) McCarthy, George Wall (Marlene) all of Port aux Basques, Yvonne (Kevin) McDougall, Vicki (Elias) Osmond all of Cape Ray, Alma (Bert) Francis St. Andrew's NB, Ralph (Marina) Wall, Cletus (Catherine) Wall all of Cape Ray, Virgy Wall (Garry) Middle Sackville NS, Roy Wall Prince George BC, Michael Wall Cape Ray, June (Enos) Skeard Cole Harbour NS and daughter in law Wanda Short Cape Ray. She will forever remain in the hearts of her 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters Marie Simon (Mike) Black Duck Siding, Norma MacDonald Labrador City, brother Jim MacDonald George's Lake NL, sisters in law; Geraldine Alley, Minnie Wall and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. The funeral service will take place on Monday March 7, 11 a.m. at St. John The Evangelist Church, Cape Ray officiated by Father Lee Lainey, interment will follow at Mount St. Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery, Great Codroy.
