ATKINS, Margaret Ann
August 3, 1945 - March 31, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Margaret Ann Atkins announces her passing on Thursday March 31, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 65 years. Born at Denison Texas USA, Margaret was the daughter of Floyd Ray Richerson and the late Nellie Aline Richerson, she was also predeceased by her sister Joyce Hamilton. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her loving family, devoted husband Brian of 45 years marriage. Daughters; Elizabeth (Andy) Barrendregt Smithers BC, Victoria (Robert) O' Farrell St. Andrews. Grandchildren; Adrian, Janna, and Maren. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Donna (Paul) Sturzenegger Smithers BC, Peggy Jane Atkins Smithers BC, brother James Richerson Washington USA. To honor Margaret's wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life was held on Wednesday April 6, 2 PM at Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle, Port aux Basques officiated by Pastor Jamie Warren. BIRD, Louis Albert
(July 12, 1920 - March 5, 2011)

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Louis Albert Bird announces his passing on Saturday March 5, 2011 at Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Center at the age of 90 years. Born at Rose Blanche Louis was the son of the late Thomas and Jessie Bird. He was also predeceased by his wife Ada (nee Hardy) in 2006, step mother Minnie Bird, son-in-law Joe Pearce, brothers; Raymond, Frank, Cyril, Cecil, step-brothers Thomas, Jim, brother-in-law Thomas Seaward, sisters-in-law Jessie Parsons, Laura Mcdonald, Alice Bird. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family, Wilfred (Geraldine) Bird Port aux Basques, Hazel (Don) Osmond Cape Ray, Laura Pearce Dartmouth NS, Marie (Joe) Battiste Port aux Basques, Irene (Philip) Ford Port aux Basques, Geraldine (Terry) Savory Port aux Basques, Christine (Clay) Hardy Cape Ray, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, step-brother Clayton (Alice) Bird Rose Blanche, sister Dora (Walt) Strickland Port aux Basques, Sister-in-laws Francis Bird, Melinda Bird, Cora Seaward all of Port aux Basques, also a large circle of many nephews, nieces and many friends.Vistation took place on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 PM and 7-9PM at East Haven Funeral Home. ENWOOD, Susanna
(July 1, 1928 - March 10, 2011)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Susanna Enwood announces her passing on Thursday March 10, 2011 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 82 years. Born at Burnt Islands Susanna was the daughter of the late Elsie and Thomas Herritt. She was also predeceased by her husband Hubert in 2008, Daughter Bessie Samson, Grandson Jimmy Enwood. Brothers; Wendell Herritt, Philip Herritt Isaac Herritt, sister Eva Herritt. Brothers-in-law Levi Enwood, Johnny Miles, Samuel Miles, Philip Enwood, Minter King. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her daughters Audrey (Arthur) Best Rose Blanche NL, Eva (Noble) Kettle Moncton NB, Phyllis (John) Shaw Yukon NWT, Goldie (Darcy) Hardy Port aux Basques, Marina Enwood Yukon NWT, Deanna (Chris) Goucher Ottawa. HARVEY, John Thomas
August 17, 1942 - March 30, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Thomas Harvey announces his passing on Wednesday March 30, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 68 years. Born at Isle aux Morts, John was the son of the late Albert and Hannah Harvey. He was also predeceased by his sisters Sabina and Lillian. Brothers; Edward, Cornelius, Leslie. Mother and father in law Israel and Marie Anderson, and sister in law Winnie. John was a devoted husband to his loving wife Linda (nee Anderson) of 40 years marriage. Loving father of sons; Christopher (Josie) Harvey Alder Point NS, Mark Harvey (Jennie Soper) Milton ON. He was also the proud grandfather of Brianna, Jenna, Caitlyn, John, Katrina, Kaylynn, and Kasey. He will be sadly missed by his brothers; Ned (Sandra) Harvey Port aux Basques, Albert (Evelyn) Harvey, Eldon (Joan) Harvey all of Isle aux Morts, Jim Harvey Niagara Falls ON, and their sister Beatrice (Raymond) Jubb of Prince George BC. Dear brother in law of Jessie (Bert) Osmond Port aux Basques, Bernice (George) Keeping Halifax NS, Winnie (Henry) Parsons Port aux Basques, Joyce (Dorman) Hulan Isle aux Morts, Eileen (Wilfred) Ricketts Port aux Basques, Jane (Stewart) Short Cape Ray, Viola (Jerome) Bragg Port aux Basques, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. John's love of the sea was very evident in the 55 years that he spent working there as an engineer. From the young age of 14 his work took him to many corners of the world over the years and he enjoyed every minute of it, especially his tour in the Persian Gulf War. Visitation took place on Saturday from 7-9 PM, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. To honor his wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of John's life took place on Tuesday April 5, 2 PM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Hannah Dicks. JANES, Rita
April 6th, 1942 - March 30th, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rita Janes announces her passing on Wednesday March 30th, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 68 years. Born at Cape Ray, Rita was the daughter of the late Thomas and Winifred Wall. She was also predeceased by her grandson Johnathan, brother John, sisters; Winifred, Anne, Mabel. Brother in laws; Maxwell, Isaac, William, Raymond, Claude, Kevin. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving family; devoted husband Alex of 52 years marriage. Children; Patsy (Leo) Fudge, Sandy (Janice) Janes, Mike (Trina) Janes, all of Cape Ray. Grandchildren; Joshua, Melissa, Jeremy, Shardi, Nicholas, Nathan, and Nicholas. Brothers; Wallace Wall PEI, Ivan (Dorothy) Wall Port aux Basques, Bob (Marjorie) Wall Cape Ray. Visitation took place on Thursday evening 7-9 PM, Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM, and on Saturday from 10 AM to 12 noon at St. John The Evangelist Church in Cape Ray from where the funeral service took place on Saturday April 2 at 2 PM officiated by Rev. Peter Boote. Interment followed at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Trans Canada Highway. KEEPING, Evelyn
August 19, 1923 - March 25, 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Evelyn Keeping announces her passing on Friday March 25, 2011 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center, at the age 87 years. Born at Burnt Islands Evelyn was the daughter of the late Israel and Cecilia Thorne. She was also predeceased by her husband Samuel on April 15, 1993, daughter Virginia Warms, granddaughter Denise Harvey, grandson Michael Ralph, great-granddaughter Lisa Hatcher, brothers John Thorne, Israel Thorne, sister Edyie Bryan, sisters-in-law Irene Thorne, Abigail Croucher, brothers-in-law Fred Bryan, Angus P Keeping, William Keeping, Levi Keeping, son-in-laws William Harvey Jr, David Hatcher. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her sons James (Classie) Keeping, Rodney (Winnifred) Keeping all of Burnt Islands, Fabian (Claris) Keeping St. John's NL . Daughters Christine Hatcher Burnt Islands, Louise Harvey, Joanne (Jimmy) Lefrense all of Isle aux Morts, Velma (Keith) Edmunds, Merna (Lendy) Vautier all of Burnt Islands, grandson Dermont (Tracey) Keeping Isle aux Morts. 33 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great- grandchildren. PARSONS, James Arthur
July 14, 1927 - March 28, 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Arthur Parsons announces his passing on Monday, March 28, 2011. He passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 83. Born in McCallum, James was the son of the late Albert and Esther Parsons. He was also predeceased by his brother Bob and sister Kate Crewe. He leaves to mourn with fond memories his loving family : wife Bessie; children Sam (Linda) Crestor, BC, Emily (Kenny) Gaudet, Black Duck Siding, NL, Banfield (Sharon), New Ross, NS, Frank (Nerissa), Fort McMurray, AB, Aubrey (Margaret), St. John's, NL, and Wanda (Kenny), Port aux Basques, NL, 21 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; brothers Banfield (Patsy), Antigonish, NS, sisters Dorothy Lyons, Lower Sackville, NS and Chestley (Patricia), Port Bickerton, NS; sisters Dorothy Lyons, Lower Sackville, NS and Sarah (Horace) Walsh, Pool's Cove, NL; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Annie Porter announces her passing on Saturday March 5, 2011 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 81 years. Annie was predeceased by her husband Frank in 2005, brother Garland Warren, sister Betty Kane, brothers-in-law Cecil Porter, Gilbert Porter, Roy Musseau, James Kane, Jacob Lushman, sister-in-law Maude Lushman. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her loving family, mother Bertha Warren; sons Lorne (Barb) Porter Rose Blanche, Jeffrey (Daphne) Porter Port aux Basques, grandchildren Colin (Ruby) Rose Blanche, Lori-Ann St. John's, Tracey (Tyson) Enfield NS, Stephen Alberta, Andy (Tammy) Port aux Basques, great-grandchildren Sarah, Jessica, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Dillon, Jason, Andrew, Jordan, Johnathan, Courtney, and great-great-granddaughter Olivia, sister Dot Musseau (Jim Herritt), brothers-in-law Allan (Classie) Porter, Claude (Gladys) Porter all of Port aux Basques, sisters-in-law Leona (Robert) Billard Oakville ON, Alma Porter, Priscilla Porter both of Port aux Basques and a large circle of nephews, nieces and many friends. Annie was a very active member of St. James Anglican Church, and the LOBA since she was 15 years old. Her volunteering and love of the choir were her greatest passions, and she will be greatly missed. Visitation took place on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. SAVERY, Carl John
Age 76
October 16, 1934 - March 31, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Carl Savery announces his passing at his home on March 31, age 76 years. He was predeceased by brothers Frank and Gordon, Sister Jean Brake. He leaves to mourn, with fond and loving memories, his loving wife Mabel of 51 years. Two daughters Carolann (Frank) Short, Lena (Lou Lomond). Two sons Terry (Geraldine Bird), Michael (Shirley) Brothers-in-law Ernest (Jane) Chant, Clyde (Daphne) Chant, Burnt Islands. Sisters-in-law, Alice (Fred) Francis, Burnt Islands, Elizabeth (Cecil Taylor) Ethel Savery, Port aux Basques. He also leaves to mourn seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews. Visitation took place on April 2 and April 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 at Fillatre's Funeral Home. Funeral service took place on April 4 at St. James Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. Hannah Dicks with interment at Barachois Hill Cemetery.

TAPP, Chesley Phillip
Passed peacefully away at the Leonard A. Miller Center on March 26, 2011, Chesley Phillip Tapp, aged 62 years, of Topsail, NL, formerly of Cape Ray, NL. Ches is a retired Inspector of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and a retired Parking Enforcement Officer for the City of St. John's. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Gladys Tapp; brothers John and Elijah Tapp; sister Vera Tapp; mother-in-law Marjorie Hillier; nieces and nephews Holly, Gerald, Beatrice, Ruby and John. He leaves to mourn with precious and loving memories his wife of 32 years Glenda (nee Hillier); his loving son Stephen; brothers Eric Tapp (Maude), James Tapp (Shirley); sister Dorothy Short (George - deceased); father-in-law John G. Hillier, brothers-in-law Paul Hillier (Elaine), John Hillier (Dana); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and cousins. Forever remembered with fondness and affection by his close friends and cabin buddies. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Funeral Service to take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from St. John the Evangelist Church, Topsail. Interment to follow at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery.
