SPENCER, MARY GRETA
October 2, 1918 - March 5, 2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Greta Spencer announces her passing on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 91 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Greta was the daughter of the late Louis and Alice (nee Kettle) Savory. She was also predeceased by her husband Stephen, son-in-law Harry, and great-granddaugh-ter Morgan. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her family: daughters Dorothy, Kathleen (George), Linda (Kevin); sons Lewis (Margo), Ken (Mabel) and Robert (Linda); 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on March 6 and 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on March 8 at 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Donations in Greta's memory may be made to the Long Term Care unit of Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Center. Buckland, Annie

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Annie Buckland announces her passing at LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques on Friday, March 5th, 2010 at the age of 84 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories sons Roland Buckland and David Buckland; brothers George (Florella) Strickland and Roy (Delores) Strickland; grandchildren Tara (Jason) Rose, David Buckland Jr., Lee (Trina) Buckland and Bruce (Jody) Buckland; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Mitchell and Victoria; best friend and sister-in-law of 63 years Athena Buckland, and a large circle of other relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband John Buckland; parents Catherine and George Strickland; great-grandchildren Jackson Rose and Emily Buckland; brothers Lewis, Dan and Wilfred Strickland; sisters Maude Hatcher, Maria Chislett and Baby Catherine. Friends visited St. Michael and All Angels, Rose Blanche on Saturday 7-9 p.m., from where the Service of Remembrance was held on Sunday, March 7th at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Rev. Andrew Nussey officiated. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Ann Best announces her passing on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at LeGrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 88 years. Born at Rose Blanche, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late John and Francis Ann (nee Strickland) Rose. She was also predeceased by her husband Garland in 1993; brothers John and Arthur Rose; sisters; Minnie, Rose, and Ada; brothers-in-law Agustus Hatcher, Joseph Best, Robert Porter, John Best, William Porter, George Porter. She leaves to mourn with many precious memories her loving family: only son Arthur (Audrey) Best Rose Blanche; daughters Carrie (Kenneth) Coleman Isle aux Morts, Joanne (Wallace) Hughes Green Island Brook NL; grandchildren Garland, Maurice, Craig, Cindy, Raymond, Aynsley; as well as eight great-grandchildren; sister Beatrice Hatcher Rose Blanche; sisters-in-law Melita Best, Rita Rose both of Rose Blanche, Gloria Porter Waterville NS; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday and Thursday at St. Michael's and All Angel's Anglican Church in Rose Blanche. Funeral services took place on Friday, March 12, 2 p.m. at St. Michael's and All Angel's Anglican Church officiated by Father Andrew Nussey. It is with great sadness thai the family of the late Perry Gordon Anderson announces his passing on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the age of 36 years. Perry was predeceased by his grandparents Nelson and Bessie Anderson, Henry and Cassie Spicer; aunt Phoebe Anderson; uncles Clifford, Donald, Wilfred, Ross and Reuben. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories, his loving family: mother and father Eva Anderson and William Spicer, Diamond Cove; sister April (Jamie King) Burnt Islands; and special niece Cassandra Anderson; aunts and uncles Pearl (Joseph) Rumbolt Diamond Cove, Mildred (Ivan) Spencer, Elizabeth (Johnny) Snow, Gloria Parsons all of Port aux Basques, Marie (Wilson) Bond Burni Islands. Hubert (Selina) Anderson Isle aux Morts, Winston (Darlene) Spicer Truro NS, Roland (Leah) Spicer, Roy (Maxine) Spicer, Minnie (Rodney) Francis, Maude (John) Dobbin, Barry (Eli/abeth) Spicer, all of Diamond Cove, Pierce Spicer Harbour Le Cou, Scott (Darlene) Spicer Glace Bay NS, Nina Spicer Rose Blanche; a large circle of extended family, and many, many, friends. Funeral services look place on Saturday, March 13, 3 p.m. at St. Michael's and All Angel's Anglican Church, officiated by Father Andrew Nusscy. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Perry was a fun loving person who will be sadly missed by all of those who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives. To know him was lo love him. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Jane Gillam announces her passing on Sunday. March 14, 2010 at the age of 70 years. Born at South Branch, Mary was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Mary Gillam. She was also predeceased by her brothers Jack and Joseph; sisters Agnes, Elizabeth and Annie; and nephews Craig and Timmy. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving sisters and brothers: Rita Gillam South Branch. Marg (Jed) Gale South Branch, Irene (Calvin) Carter Gander NL, Jane (Wayne) Hancock St. John's NU Bill Gillam Nova Scotia, Charlie Gillam South Branch, Agnes Bishop Corner Brook NL, Mike Gillam South Branch, Jim Gillam South Branch, Rohen Gillam Port aux Basques; very special niece Maureen and her children Stephen and Gale; 27 nieces and nephews, 39 great nieces and nephews, her special card playing buddies, and a large circle of extended family and many friends. Passed peacefully away at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center on Thursday, March 11, 2010, Gladys Osmond at the age of 93 years. Born at Stone's Cove, NL, Gladys was the daughter of the late Randell James and Emma Bertha Pope. She was also predeceased by her husband Clifford, son Clifford Jr, and son-in-law Randell Pink. She leaves to mourn with many fond memories her loving family; only daughter Clarice Halifax NS; sons Harvey (Shirley) Codroy Valley, Lloyd (Viola) Port aux Basques, Stanley (Ada) Codroy Valley; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; brothers Gerald (Hazel) Pope, Corwin (Mary) Pope all of Port aux Basques; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. Visitation took place on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ellen Chaulk announce her passing on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Charles LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 96 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, seven children Bernice Sheaves, Lil Ford (Jim), Elias (Defores), Margaret Payne, Hubert (Dulcie), James (Jane) and Eric (Elaine); 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister Chrissie Alien; brother Clifford Coffin (Carrie); sister-in-law Evelyn Butt, as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by husband George (1997); son George Jr. (1964); sisters Myrtle Seymour, Margaret Seymour, Winnie Brown; brothers Hubert Coffin, Elias Coffin, Abraham Coffin, Eric Coffin, Jack Coffin; sisters-in-law Irene Coffin, Pearl Coffin; brothers-in-law Wilson Alien, Edward Seymour and Wilfred Seymour, Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home Port aux Basques on Wednesday and Thursday between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service took place at St. Jarnes Anglican Church on Saturday, March 20 at 2 p.m. Reverend Clayton Billard officiating. She was also predeceased by her husband James Harris; grandson Donnie Harris; sister-in-law Adeline (Walter) Hatcher; and brothers-in-law Les Tuff, Raymond Hardy, Thomas Coley, Ken Munden. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her loving family: only daughter Lydia (Charlie) Prosser Burnt Islands; sons Chester (Norma) Harris Burnt Islands, Clayton (Blanche) Harris Rose Blanche, John (Cynthia) Harris Burnt Islands; adopted son Walter (Meta) Bateman Porter's Lake NS; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters PhylHs (Henry) Billard Margaree, Ruth (Matt) Street Port aux Basques, Alfreda Coley Isle aux Morts; brothers Fred (Betty) Skinner Margaree, Ward( Alice) Skinner Isle aux Morts; sisters-in-law Addie (Gilbert) Keeping, Linda (John)Keeping, Ellen Hardy, Ann Munden all of Burnt Islands, Florence Tuff Port aux Basques; brother-in-law Roy (Rose) Harris Burnt Islands; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. He was also predeceased by his daughter Lillian; one infant son; grandson Luke; sisters Bessie Osmond, Mary Hinks; and brothers Joseph and Norman. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family: devoted wife Vera of 62 years marriage; sons Norman (Thelma), Robert (Marie) all of Port aux Basques, Bruce (Joanne) Porter's Lake NS; daughters Brenda Gillis (Rannie) Sydney NS, Linda Sheaves (Earl), Ruth Elms (Brian) all of Port aux Basques, Dianne Hinks (Harry) Halifax NS; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Figary, Vera Forsey, Lena Billard all of Port aux Basques, Sybina Meade Toronto ON, Lillian MacPherson Westmount NS; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Born in Port aux Basques, William was the son of the late John and Julia Ingram. He was also predeceased by his brother Henry Ingram; nephew Barry Ingram,; sisters-in-law: Jacquline Ingram and Wilamina Ingram,. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family: son Basil French, Stephenville; daughter Jane (Carl) Osmond; sisters; Sis Ingram and Collie Ingram; brothers: Eric (Kay) Ingram, Bob (Lucy) Ingram, Gerald Ingram, Doug ingram, all of Port aux Basques, as well as his precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral; Home, Port aux Basques on Thursday 7-9 pm and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service took place on Saturday, March 27 at 2 pm from St. James Anglican Church. Rev. Clayton Billard officiated. Interment followed at the Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Young, Julia Beatrice
1929 - 2010
Julia B. Young
, of Moncton, passed away at the Moncton Hospital with her family at her side on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the age of 80 years. Born in Port aux Basques, NL on December 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Sarah Jane (Seaward) Kettle. Julia was a former cook and seamstress. Following her retirement she continued to sew, she made wedding gowns, tuxedos for family and made clothes for her grandchildren's Barbie dolls. She also enjoyed knitting sweaters, hats and mitts for family and friends. A loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, she will be dearly missed by her loving hus-band Chester G. Young: her daughters Sheila Walters (Caivin) of Port aux Basques, NL and Marilyn Morris (Gary Harper) of Moncton; her sons Maxwell G. McNei! (Darlene) of Moncton, Thomas A. McNeil (Brenda) of Riverview and Roger G. McNeil (Diane) of Moncton NB; step-son Christopher G. Young (Donna) of Halifax, NS; step-daughters Donna Wiley (Rick) of Moncton, Cheryl Young of Winnipeg, Barbara Rushton (Neil) of Fredericton and Nancy LeBlanc (Marcus) of Moncton; grandchildren Maxine, Sheila, Jamie, Thomas & Danielle, Vanessa & Wade, Candice and Roger; Richard & Adam, Mitchell & Kristin, Stephanie & Scott and Taija, great-grandchil-dren Tristan & Kyle, Nicole & Shawna, Sarah & Connor, Ryan & Christopher, Gray, Marissa & James; by her last surviving sister Mary Ellen Kettle of Port aux Basques NL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she is prede-ceased by her first husband Thomas McNeil as well as several siblings. The funeral service was held at Turtle Brothers Memorial Chapel in Moncton, NB on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. with The Rev. Chris VanBuskirk officiating. Interment was in -airhaven Memorial Gardens, Moncton NB. Donations in Julia's memory made to Breast Cancer Research or to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital roundation "Palliative Care" and would be appreciat-ed by her family.
