It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Eileen
Anderson announces her passing on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at
the age of 79 years. Mary is predeceased by her son Wayne, daughter Sheila
and grandson Derek. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories,
her family: husband Berkley Anderson Sr. of 62 years marriage; daughters
Emma (Phillip) Sheaves of North Sydney, Lorraine (Dan) Matthews of London
Ont., Doris (David) Farrell of Edmonton, Alta., Catherine (Fredrick) Gale
of Port aux Basques, Sandra (Wayne) Stacey of Port aux Basques, Marilyn
(Vincent) Pearce of London Ont., and Colleen (Phillip Stacey) Strowbridge
of London Ont.; sons Berkley (Brenda) Anderson of Port aux Basques and
Edward Anderson of Langley B.C.; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren;
special Niece Violet Strickland (Tom Benoit) and special friend Kate Parsons
and as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Visitation took place Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven
Funeral Home Port aux Basques. Funeral services took place on Wednesday,
March 5, 2008 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel, officiated
by Rev. Hugh Fudge. Internment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery,

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elsie Florence
Pike announces her passing on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at
the age of 60 years. Born in Port aux Basques, she was the daughter of
the late Ida Jane Pike (Nee Dicks). She is predeceased by her mother
and father-in-law, Phillip and Gertie Carter. She leaves to mourn with
fond and precious memories, her family: husband, William (Bud) Carter
of Port aux Basques; father, Philip Pike of Saint John, N.B.; sisters,
Shelia (Larry) Boyles of Saint John, N.B.; Queen (Frank) Roberge of Stephenville
Crossing and Katie Tucker (Joe Bobbett) of Galiants; brother, Milton

It is great sadness that the family of the late Dorcas Feltham announce
her sudden passing on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Charles
L. LeGrow Health Centre in her 93rd year. Born in Ramea, Nfld,
she was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Annie Keeping. She was predeceased
by husband, Alexander of Port aux Basques; son and daughter-in-law, George
and Victory Feltham; brother and sister-in-law, Cyril and Minnie Keeping;
sister and brother-in-law, Robina and Allan Rossiter; brothers, Cecil
and Harold Keeping; and sister, Mabel Keeping. Leaving to mourn with
fond and precious memories her family: sons, Gordon (Sharon) Feltham,
Paisley, ON, Richard (Anne) Feltham, Dartmouth, NS, David (Glenda), Port
aux Basques; daughters, Jean (Jan) Olson, Morrison, Colorado, Shirley

PIKE, ANNIE IRENE
Pike (Taverner), Annie Irene, 87 of Mahone Bay, N.S., formerly
of Port aux Basques, Nfld. passed away at Fisherman's Hospital, Lunenburg,
N.S. She was the daughter of the late Captain Benjamin and Amelia Taverner.
Annie was the last member of her immediate family. She is survived by
daughter, Janice (Kim) Collicutt; son, Chris (Bette) Pike; granddaughters,
Danielle (Derek) McCarthy, Sara Pike (Jonathan); grandson, Shayne (Amanda)
Brinson; great-grandchildren, Hayden MaCarthy, Chloe and Logan Brinson;
sister-in-law, Margaret Batten; many nieces, nephews and all her dear
friends in Newfoundland. She was predeceased by her husband, James L.
Pike; sister, Lillian Beauchamp; brothers, Stanley, Harold, William,
Colin and Arthur. Special thanks to friend, Hazel C. and friends at Spruce
Manor Apartments. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will
take place at East Haven Funeral Home in Port aux Basques on Saturday,

July 25, 1920 - March 22, 2008
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of a fantastic husband,
father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, in
his 88th year, at his home in O'Regan's in the Codroy Valley
on March 22. Predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Jean, in Nov. 1996,
parents, Alban and Rose (Young) Downey, brothers, Kevin, Walter, Robert,
Fintan and Aloysius. Bert will be lovingly remembered by his family:
Arlene (Richard) Maclsaac, Alice (Dennis) Keeping in the Codroy Valley,
Ken (Shirley) Downey Calgary, Alta., Charles (Regina) Downey, Corner
Brook, Nfld., Brenda Tobin (Ed Dyke) in Kitchener, Ont.; grandchildren,
Philip, Glenn, Susan, Cindy, Jason, Denny, Randy, Ashley, Gerry, Arianna,
Sherman, Melanie, Travis and Trevor and their spouses; great-grandchildren,
Brandon, Kaitlyn, Damien, Tyler, Chloe, Mya and James; brother, Ralph
and sister, Margaret in Nova Scotia; sisters-in-law, Bridget and Lucy
Downey; and also a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family,
friends and caretakers/guardian angels. Bert had many accomplishments
that he was very proud of in his own humble way. During World War II
he spent six years in the Royal Air Force with his primary task being
a Wireless Operator. He relayed many stories of his time overseas and
kept constant contact with many of the people he was billeted with. He
sold many of the first vehicles on the South West Coast as a car salesman
for Wall Gale, travelled to many communities as a salesman for Battiste
Wholesale, developed a very large clientele and many friends in his 30-plus
years with Johnson Insurance. While he was working for Battiste Wholesale
and Johnson Insurance he also operated his own business in Upper Ferry "Bert's
Confectionary." Even with his full commitment to three jobs
Bert was always available for his family, friends and community. Visitation
took place at St. Anne's Church in Upper Ferry, on Wednesday between
2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life was held at St. Anne's Church
on Thursday, March 27, at 3 p.m. Internment will follow at Mt. St. Thomas
Cemetery . If so desired, donations may be made to St. Anne's Parish
Cemetery Fund or a charity of ones choice. Funeral arrangements are in
