ANDERSON, MARY EILEEN
February 9, 1929 - March 2, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Eileen Anderson announces her passing on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the age of 79 years. Mary is predeceased by her son Wayne, daughter Sheila and grandson Derek. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories, her family: husband Berkley Anderson Sr. of 62 years marriage; daughters Emma (Phillip) Sheaves of North Sydney, Lorraine (Dan) Matthews of London Ont., Doris (David) Farrell of Edmonton, Alta., Catherine (Fredrick) Gale of Port aux Basques, Sandra (Wayne) Stacey of Port aux Basques, Marilyn (Vincent) Pearce of London Ont., and Colleen (Phillip Stacey) Strowbridge of London Ont.; sons Berkley (Brenda) Anderson of Port aux Basques and Edward Anderson of Langley B.C.; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; special Niece Violet Strickland (Tom Benoit) and special friend Kate Parsons and as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Visitation took place Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home Port aux Basques. Funeral services took place on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel, officiated by Rev. Hugh Fudge. Internment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery, High Street. PIKE, ELSIE FLORENCE
December 1, 1947 - March 6, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elsie Florence Pike announces her passing on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the age of 60 years. Born in Port aux Basques, she was the daughter of the late Ida Jane Pike (Nee Dicks). She is predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Phillip and Gertie Carter. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories, her family: husband, William (Bud) Carter of Port aux Basques; father, Philip Pike of Saint John, N.B.; sisters, Shelia (Larry) Boyles of Saint John, N.B.; Queen (Frank) Roberge of Stephenville Crossing and Katie Tucker (Joe Bobbett) of Galiants; brother, Milton (Kathleen) Pike of Saint John, N.B.; sisters-in-law, Alice (Phelps) Clarke of Norwalk, Connecticut, Ruby (Harold) Osmond, Joan Rogers, Beverly Lomond all of Port aux Basques and Wanda Snow of Dartmouth, N.S.; brothers-in-law, Dean (Bonnie) Carter of Port aux Basques and Mike Carter of Bridgewater and as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Following cremation, visitation will take place Monday, March 17, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, March 18, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home in Port aux Basques. Funeral services will be conducted at East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 1 p.m. Officiated by Captains Paul and Michelle Blake. It is great sadness that the family of the late Dorcas Feltham announce her sudden passing on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in her 93rd year. Born in Ramea, Nfld, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Annie Keeping. She was predeceased by husband, Alexander of Port aux Basques; son and daughter-in-law, George and Victory Feltham; brother and sister-in-law, Cyril and Minnie Keeping; sister and brother-in-law, Robina and Allan Rossiter; brothers, Cecil and Harold Keeping; and sister, Mabel Keeping. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories her family: sons, Gordon (Sharon) Feltham, Paisley, ON, Richard (Anne) Feltham, Dartmouth, NS, David (Glenda), Port aux Basques; daughters, Jean (Jan) Olson, Morrison, Colorado, Shirley (Marion) Gammill, Littleton, Colorado, Mabel (Ken) Spencer, Port aux Basques; daughter-in-law, Thelma Feltham, Winnipeg, Man.; brother, Reg (Mary) Keeping, Ramea, Nfld.; sisters-in-law, Carrie Keeping, Ramea; Carol Keeping, New Waterford, NS; brother-in-law, Stan (Olive) MacKenzie, Yarmouth, NS; 19 grandchildren and 24 great­grandchildren; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and many friends. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques on Monday and Tuesday. The funeral service took place on Thursday, March 20 at 2 p.m. from Wesley United Church, officiated by Rev. Patricia Richie. Interment followed cremation at Wesley United Cemetery, TCH. As expressions of sympathy flowers were graciously accepted. PIKE, ANNIE IRENE
Pike (Taverner), Annie Irene
, 87 of Mahone Bay, N.S., formerly of Port aux Basques, Nfld. passed away at Fisherman's Hospital, Lunenburg, N.S. She was the daughter of the late Captain Benjamin and Amelia Taverner. Annie was the last member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughter, Janice (Kim) Collicutt; son, Chris (Bette) Pike; granddaughters, Danielle (Derek) McCarthy, Sara Pike (Jonathan); grandson, Shayne (Amanda) Brinson; great-grandchildren, Hayden MaCarthy, Chloe and Logan Brinson; sister-in-law, Margaret Batten; many nieces, nephews and all her dear friends in Newfoundland. She was predeceased by her husband, James L. Pike; sister, Lillian Beauchamp; brothers, Stanley, Harold, William, Colin and Arthur. Special thanks to friend, Hazel C. and friends at Spruce Manor Apartments. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at East Haven Funeral Home in Port aux Basques on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Park; and stepbrother, Budd Herritt. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Deborah; 14 children: Irene (Charlie) Chaulk, Port aux Basques, Arthur (Linda), Rose Blanche, Wayne (Ida), Rose Blanche, Gilbert (Debbie) Thorold, Ont., Barbara (Lome) Porter, Rose Blanche, Bill (Margie) Rose Blanche, Manuel (Kim), Lark Harbour, Gary (Brenda), Rose Blanche, Florence, Rose Blanche, David (Diane) Rose Blanche, Charlie (Maisie) Isle aux Morts, Robert (Nancy) Lower Sackville, NS, Arthena (Scott) Keeping, Eastern Passage, NS and Trina (Jamie) Eastern Passage, NS Aubrey also leaves to mourn 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Parsons, Rose Blanche; stepsister, Mabel (Winston) Dominie, Nova Scotia; stepbrothers, Albert (Joan), Willard (Theresa), Henry (Jocelyn), Rose Blanche; and a large circle of nieces and nephews, family and friends. His smile and kindness will live in our hearts forever. He will be sadly missed. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Charles McNeil announces his passing on Friday, March 21, 2008 at the age of 70 years. Born in South Branch he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth McNeil. He is predeceased by his wife, Ella; daughter, Cynthia; son, Charles; sisters, Doris and Eileen; and brother, Charles. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his children: son, Dean McNeii of South Branch; daughters, Karen (Freeman) Cox of Upper Stewiacke, Charlene (Bobby) Outhouse of Souris, PEI; Cheryl (Sam) Young of Okotoks, Alta., Nancy (Gerry) Seaward of Tantallon, NS and Kim (Blake) Hatcher of Barrie, Ont.; grandchildren, Crystal, Felicia, Christopher, Samantha, Jake, Cassandra, Matthew, Dean and Hayley; great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Aaliyah; sisters, Pearl Gabriel, Martha McArthur and Anrena (Mark) Bennett. DOWNEY, J. BERTRAM - RAF
July 25, 1920 - March 22, 2008

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of a fantastic husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, in his 88th year, at his home in O'Regan's in the Codroy Valley on March 22. Predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Jean, in Nov. 1996, parents, Alban and Rose (Young) Downey, brothers, Kevin, Walter, Robert, Fintan and Aloysius. Bert will be lovingly remembered by his family: Arlene (Richard) Maclsaac, Alice (Dennis) Keeping in the Codroy Valley, Ken (Shirley) Downey Calgary, Alta., Charles (Regina) Downey, Corner Brook, Nfld., Brenda Tobin (Ed Dyke) in Kitchener, Ont.; grandchildren, Philip, Glenn, Susan, Cindy, Jason, Denny, Randy, Ashley, Gerry, Arianna, Sherman, Melanie, Travis and Trevor and their spouses; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kaitlyn, Damien, Tyler, Chloe, Mya and James; brother, Ralph and sister, Margaret in Nova Scotia; sisters-in-law, Bridget and Lucy Downey; and also a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and caretakers/guardian angels. Bert had many accomplishments that he was very proud of in his own humble way. During World War II he spent six years in the Royal Air Force with his primary task being a Wireless Operator. He relayed many stories of his time overseas and kept constant contact with many of the people he was billeted with. He sold many of the first vehicles on the South West Coast as a car salesman for Wall Gale, travelled to many communities as a salesman for Battiste Wholesale, developed a very large clientele and many friends in his 30-plus years with Johnson Insurance. While he was working for Battiste Wholesale and Johnson Insurance he also operated his own business in Upper Ferry "Bert's Confectionary." Even with his full commitment to three jobs Bert was always available for his family, friends and community. Visitation took place at St. Anne's Church in Upper Ferry, on Wednesday between 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life was held at St. Anne's Church on Thursday, March 27, at 3 p.m. Internment will follow at Mt. St. Thomas Cemetery . If so desired, donations may be made to St. Anne's Parish Cemetery Fund or a charity of ones choice. Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on March 25, 2008, Irene Teresa Brake at the age of 67 years. Born at South Branch, she was the daughter of the late Elsie and William Brake. She was predeceased by her sister, Bernadette. She leaves to mourn, her loving family, sons, George (Kristi) Pearce, Phillip Pearce (Vicki Bungay); grandson, Carson; daughter, Beverly Pearce; granddaughters, Cassandra, Ashley and great-granddaughter, Macie; brothers and sisters, Imelda MacArthur, Zita (Norman) Muise of South Branch, Ella (Frank) Gale, Joyce (Morley) Lewis of Stephenville, Stella (Randy) Pitcher of Palgrave, Ont., Marion Andrews of Stephenville, Deanna (Darren, St. Croix) Brake of Lower Sackville, N.S., Wallace (Marvella) Brake, Benjamin (Helen) Brake of South Branch and Vincent (Bev) Brake of Edmonton, Alta.; stepmother, Louise Brake of South Branch, her special friend and companion, Bill Aucoin of South Branch and a very large circle of aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Aubrey, brothers Manuel and Seaward, step-brothers Fred and Henry Bryan. She leaves to mourn 14 children: Irene (Charlie) Chaulk, Port aux Basques, Arthur (Linda), Rose Blanche, Wayne (Ida), Rose Blanche, Gilbert (Debbie), Thorold, Ont., Barbara (Lome) Porter, Rose Blanche, Bill (Margie), Rose Blanche, Manuel (Kim), Lark Harbour, Gary (Brenda), Rose Blanche, Florence, Rose Blanche, David (Diane), Rose Blanche, Charlie (Maisie), Isle aux Morts, Robert (Nancy), Lower Sackville, Arthena (Scott) Keeping, Eastern Passage and Trina (Jamie), Eastern Passage. Passed peacefully away on March 31, 2008 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, age 89. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 66 years Kenneth; daughter, Joan (Terry); sons, Riley (Marjory), Rex (Vera), Ross (Sharon) and Glen (Candace); nine grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren; brother, James and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service took place on Thursday, April 3 at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Lewisporte.
