Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Tuesday June 1, 2004, George L. Organ of Isle aux Morts at the age of 91 years. Born in Isle aux Morts, he was the son of the late George and Anne Organ. He leaves to mourn with fond memories, his loving wife, Sadie, of 68 years marriage; 11 children, Melissa (Whitey) Parsons, North Sydney, NS, Hickman (Ruth) Organ Isle aux Morts, NL, Freeman (Marie) Organ Port aux Basques, NL, Jessie Thorne Dartmouth, NS, Arch (Gladys) Organ, Isle aux Morts, NL, Roger (Cecilia) Organ, Isle aux Morts, Ronnie (Wanda) Organ Isle aux Morts, Johnny (Irene) Organ, Ottawa, ON, Ann (Max) Clarke, Harbour Le Cou, NL, Susan (Phil) Hibbs, Ducan, BC, Wanda Organ, Ducan, BC; 29 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Vida Skinner, Isle aux Morts, Winnifred (Irvin) Rathburn, New Brunswick and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by his son, Denny; parents, George and Anne; son-in-law, Walter Thorne; brothers, Raymond, William, Alexander, Montford and Jack; sisters, Rose Coleman, Isabelle Courtney and Gladys Neil. Visitation took place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts. Funeral services took place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at Holy Spirit Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Hubert Vallis. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

PIKE, William Edward
1940 - 2004

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Friday, June 4, 2004. William Edward Pike of Port aux Basques at the age of 64 years. Born at Port aux Basques he was the son of the late Willoughby and Maisie Pike. He leaves to mourn with fond memories his loving wife, Mary of 46 years; two children, David (Wilma) Pike, Port aux Basques, Paula (Paul) Guimont, Fredericton, NB; five granddaughters, Kelly, Krista, April, Megan and Emily; sisters, Jean (Alex) Hardy, Cook (Leo) Strickland, Port aux Basques, Joan (Nelson) Bragg, Tompkins, Jocelyn (Rick) Leamon, St. Andrew's; brothers-in-law, Les (Joyce) Billard, Dartmouth, NS, Viola (Dennis) Lomond, Grand Falls-Windsor, Russell Billard, Port aux Basques; sister-in-law, Marg Pike, Port aux Basques; mother and father-in-law, Stanley and Rita Billard, Port aux Basques; special friends, Bessie Blackmore, Holly Farrell, Doreen and Jim Lane, Reverend Patricia Ritchie, and a large circle of shipmates, nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Pike in 2002. Visitation took place on Friday from 7-9 p.m. Saturday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2004 at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel, officiated by Reverend Hugh Fudge. Interment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

WELLS, Benjamin M.
Passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 5, 2004, Benjamin M. Wells of Isle aux Morts at the age of 67 years. Born in Isle aux Morts he was the son of the late Morgan and Lillian Wells. He leaves to mourn with fond memories, his loving wife, Susanna of 47 years; children, Sabrina (Ephriam), Cindy (Wiley), Suzanne (Mark), St. Catherine's, Ont., Doreen (Blandford) Billard, Isle aux Morts, Greg (Sheila), St. Catherine's, Ont., Larry (Edna), Corner Brook, Fenton (Carol) Niagara Falls, Ont., Nolan (Netta), Lower Sackville, NS, Billy (Daisy), St. Catherine's, Ont., Brian Coleman, Port aux Basques; 20 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Willie Lawrence, St. Catherine's, Ont.; sisters, Melissa Chalk, St. John's, Melita Billard Port aux Basques, Lillian (Herman) Keeping, Burnt Islands; brothers, Freeman (Marlene), Montford (Gerri). Brothers-in-law, Thomas (Gertie), Bill (Golda), Alfred (Laurie), Lindsay (Dorothy), Eric (Daphne), Garry (Wilma), and John Billard; sisters-in-law, Edith (Russell) Harvey, Annabelle (Calvin) Warren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by grandson, Ryan; daughter, Nancy; brothers, Morgan, Albert, Wilfred and Earl. Visitation took place on Sunday and Monday at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, officiated by Reverend Hubert Vallis. PIERCEY, Janet
Age 87
Port aux Basques

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Janet Piercey announce her passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Monday, June 14, 2004 in her 87 year. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories two sons, John (Claire) Piercey and Max (Debbie) Piercey, five grandchildren, Sandra, Elaine, Todd, Jamie and Jason; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Ashley, Telia, James and Alex; brother, Henry Simms, as well as a circle of relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, James Piercey in 1984; brothers, Arthur, Robert, John, and Max. Visitation took place at Fillatre's Funeral Home Monday 7-9 and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 2 p.m. from St. James' Anglican Church with Rev. It is with great sadness, that the family of the late Stewart Snook announce his accidental passing on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at Rose Blanche, at the age of 49 years. Born in Harbour Breton, he was the son of the late Theodore Snook. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, Velma Spencer; son, Joshua (Adella) Snook; daughters, Sheena (Stephen) Drake, Patricia and Howard, Shawna and Julia; mother, Clarinda Snook of Harbour Breton; sisters, Eileen (Harry) Organ, Rose Blanche, Martha (John) Hunt, Harbour Breton, Frances (Gary) Nichol, Georgina Cox (Billy) Nova Scotia, Sharon (Gary) Stone, Evelyn (Frank) Bishop; brothers, Philip (Emily) Snook, John (Rita) Snook, Angus Snook, Theodore (Doreen) Snook, Derek (Guylaine) and Gordon (Rose); three grandchildren, Jane, Chanelle, Sierra and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by wife, Julia Jane; father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Sarah Tibbo. Visitation took place on Tuesday and Wednesday at St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church in Rose Blanche. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond Ashford of Rose Blanche announce his passing. At 50, Raymond accidentally drowned in Rose Blanche on Monday, June 28, 2004. Born in Rose Blanche, he was the son of Mary and Henry Ashford. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Selina and daughter, Wanda-Lee; mother-in-law, Pure Rumbolt and father-in-law, Joseph Rumbolt; five sisters, Viola (Johnny) Skinner of Rose Blanche, Elsie Brake of Corner Brook, Shirley (Don) LeRiche of Port aux Basques, Ruby (Brian) Hann of Burgeo and Judy-Ann (Timmy) Stevens of Prince Edward Island; step-sister, Lisa (Jason) Ashford of Port aux Basques; three brothers, John Ashford, Dave (Debbie) Ashford and Ross (Monica) Ashford, all of Prince Edward Island; step-brother, Henry (Wendy) Ashford of Port aux Basques and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. The memorial service took place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at St. Michael's All Angel's Church in Rose Blanche, where interment took place on the neck hosted by Rev. C. Billard.

POIRIER, Leo
1939 - 2004

Passed away at his residence on Monday, June 28, 2004, Leo Poirier of Trenton, Ont., at the age of 65 years. He leaves to mourn his son, Leo Jr. (Laura), of Trenton, Ont., and daughter, Dianne Wall of Brantford, Ont.; six grandchildren, dear brother, Joseph of London, Ont., sisters, Anne Bennett of Port aux Basques, Agnes Poirier of Brantford, Ont., Pauline Patten of Calgary, Alta., Fran Read of Halifax, N.S., and Rose Hammond of Codroy Valley, Nfld. Visitation took place Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Rushnell Funeral Home. A service was held in the chapel on Thursday July 1, 2004 at 11 a.m. followed by a cremation. Donations to the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
