(October 19, 1948 - July 5, 2013)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donald Walter Best announces his passing on Friday July 5, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 64 years. Born at Rose Blanche, Donald was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Best. He was also predeceased by his brothers Henry, William, Joseph, Gerald, sister Mildred, niece Betty Billard, brother in law Walter Billard, sister in law Martha Rose Best, father and mother in law Jonas and Dulcie Kettle. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories his devoted wife Sheila (nee Kettle) of 38 years. Loving father of Donna (Brian) Warner Quispamsis NB, Sara (Owen) Matchim Happy Valley - Goose Bay. Proud grandfather of grandson Xavier Warner and granddaughter Layla Matchim. He will forever remain in the hearts of his sisters Mary Billard, Annie (John) Hardy, Elizabeth (Walter) Keeping all of Rose Blanche, brother George (Rosalie) Best North Sydney NS, brother in laws; Angus Kettle Grand Bay West, Robert (Dianne) Kettle Codroy Valley, sister in law Sylvia Francis Loon Bay NL and a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation took place on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. To honour Donald's wishes cremation will take place. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday July 9, 2 PM at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay officiated by Rev. Hannah Dicks, interment followed at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery. Donations in memory of Donald can be made to the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center Foundation or to St. Paul's Anglican Church. - Passed away on Wednesday, July 10th, 2013 at his residence at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Florence. Cherished father of Scott (Joyce) Bartlett, Ike Bartlett, Jim (Patricia) Bartlett and Douglas (Melissa) Billard. Loving Grandad of James, John-Scott, Emma, Adam, Edward, Katie, Tyler, Jessica, Noelle, Ryan and Emily. Great grandfather of Aden, Reed and Cedar. He is survived by his brother Josh. Doug was an avid gardener and wine connoisseur. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, July 12th from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. A Celebration of Doug's Life will take place on Saturday, July 13th at 9:30a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Katie Foote announces her passing on Thursday July 18, 2013 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 90 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Katie was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice (nee Vatcher) Pike. She was also predeceased by her husband John R Foote in 1979, 7 brothers, 6 sisters, Son in law John Meade, daughter in law Marilyn (Figary) Foote. Leaving to mourn brother Jack Harvey and with many precious memories of a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grand mother are her children: John (Florence) Port aux Basques, George (Patricia) Loch Lomond, Wilson (Betty) CBS NL, Fred (Faye) Lucasville NS, Helen Meade, Frank (Linda) all of Port aux Basques. Grandchildren: Catherine, Annabelle, George, Fred Jr, Wilson Jr, Denise, Wade, Deborah, Kim, Christopher, Jim, Erica, Carol, John, Derek, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. Visitation took place on Friday and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Saunday July 21, 2 PM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by the Venerable John Meade, interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Susanna (Susie) Gale announces her peaceful passing on Monday July 15, at the Pentecostal Senior Citizen's Home in Clarke's Beach NL at the age of 93 years. Susie was born at Otter's Point and grew up in Port aux Basques, she later moved to Cape Anguille where she lived with her family and held a teaching position at the school there and later at the school in Codroy for 18 years. Susie was predeceased by her parents Henry (1961) and Maude (1941) (nee Anderson), husband Thomas P Gale (1997), son David (1981), brothers: Martin (1949), Fred (1991), Hubert (1996), George (2008) and Joseph (2012), infant sisters: Debora (1916), and Julie (1935), daughter in law Jeanette (Hawco) Gale (2005). Left to mourn with many fond and precious memories of a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother are her children: George (Nadia) John (Genny), Marion (Elwyn) Rose, Isaac (Bernice), Lorna (Gerald) Giles. Grandchildren: Kathy, Mark, Anthony, Anne-Marie, Colin, Chantal, Andrea, Sheldon, Michael, Julie, David, Ian. Step-Grandchildren; Luba and Petr. Great grandchildren: Fiona, Madeleine, Isaac, Samuel, Kristen, Jakob, Anna, Dominic, Katy. She will also be sadly missed by her sister in laws : Doris Anderson Cape Anguille, Mary K Gale Port aux Basques and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday July 17 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy. Funeral services took place on Thursday July 18, 2 PM at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, officiated by Susie's son in law Gerald Giles. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Yvonne Jane Hann announces her sudden passing on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the age of 53 years. Born in Port aux Basques NL, Yvonne was the daughter of Elsie (nee Gaulton) McNeil and the late William McNeil. She was recently predeceased by her father and also predeceased by her sister Colleen Standing and grandchild Naledi Mmoloke. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories, devoted husband, Claude Hann of 31 years. Loving mother of Melissa (Charles) Mmoloke and Krista, both of Halifax, NS. Adored grandmother of Faith and Grace Mmoloke. Loving sister of David McNeil (Sandra) Marystown NL, Judy (Freddy) LeRiche Port aux Basques NL, Vivian (David) White Bridgewater NS, Tony (Christine) McNeil South Branch NL, Audrey (Derek) Warren Saskatchewan AB, Bonnie McNeil Victoria BC, Karen (Jeff) Dickson Oromocto NB, and Roger McNeil Port aux Basques NL, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Yvonne had many loves in her life, first and foremost family. She was a devoted wife and mother and we cannot begin to express our sadness at this very difficult time. Her grandchildren were her world, and their lives will never be the same. She loved camping, going to Mary Browns on Fridays, and for scenic Sunday drives. Her work brought her great joy, and she loved her co-workers and customers.
A celebration of life in her honour was held on Sunday July 21, 2013 in Halifax,NS. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Tuesday July 23 from 7-9pm at East Haven Funeral Home and funeral services to take place Wednesday July 24 at 2pm, St Pauls church in Grand Bay, Port aux Basques NL, officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment to follow at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Trans Canada Highway, Port aux Basques. Passed peacefully away at the Leonard A. Miller Center, Palliative Care Unit on July 1st, 2013, in the presence of her daughter, Linda, Susie Kettle aged 89 years. Predeceased by: Father and Mother, Emmanuel and Sarah Mae Matthews; Husband, Captain Wesley James Kettle; Sisters: Maude, Jane, Dorcas and Julie; Brother, Gilbert. Sisters-in-law: Elsie Matthews and Edna Matthews. Brothers–in-law: Randall Wells, John Buttery, Ralph Kettle and Jonas Pearce. Leaving to Mourn: Son, Ronald (Denise) Kettle; Daughter, Linda (Jim) Sloan; Grandchildren: Krista (Kevin) King, Tiffany (Craig) Collins, Eric and Jonathan Kettle, and Michael, Rebecca and Sarah Sloan; Great-Grandchildren: Karter, Joshua and Logan; Brother, Fred Matthews; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Susie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Thursday July 4th, 2013 from 2- 4 pm and 7- 9 pm. MacARTHUR, Gerard James
(October 5, 1927 - July 28, 2013)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gerard MacArthur announces his peaceful passing at his home in Searston, Codroy Valley on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the age 85. Gerard was born, October 5, 1927 in Searston where he lived and raised his family. He married his loving wife Frances O'Gorman on December 2, 1961. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Henrietta (MacIsaac), his sisters Mary (Alfred Hardy) and Loretta Ayote, brother in-law Ernest Stevens, and his parents-in-law Lyda and Paul O'Gorman. Left to mourn with many fond and precious memories are his wife of 51 years, Frances (O'Gorman), his sister Stasia Stevens of Glace Bay, N.S., his five children, Pauline (Alex Ford) of Searston, Fay (Leo Gulliver) of St. John's, Clayton (Gina Feltham) of Kippens, Glenn (Lisa Marsden) of Corner Brook, and Ann (Brian Ivany) of Corner Brook. Gerard will be especially missed by his eight grandchildren: Alex, Paul, Melissa, Adam, Jack, Gerard, Ian, and Liam. Also left to mourn are his brothers-in-law: Bernard O'Gorman (Margaret) and Richard O'Gorman (Mary), sisters-in-law: Noreen (Frank Moore), Donna (David Clothier), Sr. Margaret O'Gorman, and Sr. Marie Alma O'Gorman, as well as a wide circle of extended family and friends. Visitation took place on Tuesday, July 30 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. with a service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral took place at St. Anne's Church, Upper Ferry on Wednesday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. Officated by Father Edward Terry, Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery in Great Codroy. Memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Lung Association or a charity of one's choice. McISAAC, George Richard
(January 15, 1937 - July 4, 2013)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Richard McIsaac announces his passing on Thursday July 4, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 76 years. Born at South Branch, George was the son of the late Anastasia Barteaux and Allan McIsaac. He was also predeceased by his son Richard, sister Gloria, and step father Edward Barteaux. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his devoted wife Marie (nee Ferguson) of 26 years. Loving father of Cathy (Dave) McCartney Alberta, Gloria McIsaac, Sharon (Andrew) McNickle, Beverly Sullivan all of Toronto, Earl Sullivan South Branch, step daughters Janet and Margaret. Loving grandfather to Steven, Zachary, Brandon, Patrick, Amanda, Bradley, Carolyn, Devven, Gavin and great grandfather to several great grandchildren. George will also forever remain in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. To honour his wishes, cremation has taken place. The funeral mass took place on Saturday July 6, 11 AM at St. Sylvester's Roman Cathloic Church in South Branch, officiated by Father Tim Moriarity, interment will follow at a later date. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold Osmond announces his sudden passing on Sunday July 21, at his cabin in MacDougall's at the age of 72 years. Born at Cape Ray, Harold was the son of the late John and Annie (nee Pearce) Osmond. He was also predeceased by his wife Shirley (nee Lomond) in August of 1992, Son Isaac Osmond, sister Alice (George) Tapp, brothers Albert (Vera) Osmond, George Emmanuel Osmond and brother in law Harvey Parsons. He leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories his children: Rose (Roy) Bailey Port aux Basques, Wanda Keats (Doug) Lower Sackville NS, Wilfred (Irene), Patsy Osmond (Rick), Derrick (Lisa) all of Port aux Basques, Roxanne Osmond (Darrell) Eastern Passage NS. A loving grandfather and great grandfather he will be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Robert, Todd, Angie, Samantha, Johnathon, Nicole, Ashley, Dillon, Justin, and 8 great grandchildren. Passed peacefully away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, Blanche Pink of Ramea at the age of 74 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Thomas; daughter Arlene (Boyd) Hollett; grandson Thomas Hollett; special niece Leona (Gerald) Hayman; brothers-in-law: Frank (Rose) Pink, Arch (Eileen) Pink, and Calvin (Jane) Pink; sisters-in-law: Jane Harris, Margaret Pink, Loretta Keeping, Rose (Gerald) Fudge, Millie (Leslie) Cutler, Agnes Crewe and Flora Crewe; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Agnes and Gordon Crewe, brothers William, Ward, Benjamin and Randell, sisters Elsie and Eva. Friends may visit St. Boniface Anglican Church in Ramea from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Taylor officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jessie Beatrice Taylor (nee Purchase) announces her passing on Sunday July 14, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 68 years. Born at Lapoile, Jessie was the daughter of the late William and Agnes Purchase, she was also predeceased by her husband Philip Taylor in January 2010, brothers Max Purchase, Jack Purchase and sister Mardee Osmond. Left to mourn with many fond and precious memories of a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother are her children Bill (Margaret) Lapoile, Austin (Kim), Port aux Basques, Brad (Shawnda) Halifax NS. Grandsons Frank (Vanessa), Austin (Michelle), Jeremy, Tyrone, Jared, Mason, only granddaughter Hillary, great grandchildren Lilli Rose and Shiya. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wayne Wall announces his sudden passing after a tragic accident on Tuesday July 23 at the age of 40 years.Wayne was predeceased by his father Joseph Wall in 1991. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his family; loving companion Wanda Short of 21 years, daddy's one and only daughter, his beautiful princess Megan Hayley Wall. The youngest of 13 children, Wayne will forever remain in the heart of his mother Edna Wall of Cape Ray. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Benjamin Wells announce his passing on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at his residence at the age of 85 years. Special thanks to granddaughter Tanya and husband Perry Lomond for all the years they both took care of our Dad. We appreciate it very much. Special thanks to his caregiver Shirley Lomond for all her years of care. Leaving to mourn with very fond and loving memories his children: Shelia (Ralph), Elaine, Benjamin (Elsie), Rodney (Susanna), Curtis (Cavell), Deon (Jocelyn), Glendon; daughter-in-law: Freda; sons-in-law: Edward Baggs and Wilson Strickland; 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; brother Art Huelin and sister Bessie Labor. The family would like thank Dr. Husni, Community Health, Mackenzie Ambulance, Fillatre's Funeral Home and all who called and visited.
