September 27, 1919 - July 2, 2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maria Carter announces her passing on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 90 years. Born at Mouse Island Maria was the daughter of late William and Margaret Osmond. She was also predeceased by her husband Isaac in 1992 and sons Charles and William. Grandson Robert. Brothers William, Fredrick, Arch, John, Isaac, Henry, Emmanuel and George. Sisters Susanna and Kate. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her family: sons Fred (Jane) Carter of Cape Ray, Calvin (Sheila) Carter of Bridgewater,NS. Daughters Myrtle Warren (Bob) of Cape Ray, Elizabeth (Gordon) Gosse of St. John's, Shirley (Clayton) Hodder of Cape Ray, Maisie (Dave) Lomond of Cape Ray. Daughter-in-law Gertie Carter of Port aux Basques. Sister-in-law Bethinia Osmond. 27 Grandchildren, 43 Great- grandchildren, 3 Great-great- grandchildren and a large circle of nephews, nieces, friends and extended family. Visitation took place on Friday evening from 7-9pm from East Haven Funeral Home and from St. John The Evangelist Church in Cape Ray on Saturday and Sunday. Funeral services took place on Monday July 5, 2010, 2PM at St. John The Evangelist Church, Cape Ray officiated by Rev. Peter Boote. Interment followed at Cape Ray Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Louise English announces her passing on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 87 years. Born at Charlottetown NL, Louise was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Chaulk. She was also predeceased by her husband John and baby son Anthony, daughters Louise Tavanti (nee English) and Marie English. Brothers Clarence and Boyd. Sister Edna Taraville. Granddaughter Peggy Sue English. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her family: Sons Carl English, John (Alice) English, Charles English all of Doyles, David English of Fredericton, NB and Gary English of Moncton, NB. Grandchildren: Tanya (Tommy) MacIsaac, Darren English, Carl English Jr. all of Doyles, Roderick Jay Fort Mac Murray, AB, Patrick Wesley Canmore, Alta, Matthew English Doyles, Laura English Lorna English and Sarah English all of Moncton, NB. Great-grandchildren: Cassidy, James, Aiden. Brother, Glenn (Louise) Chaulk Massey Drive NL, sisters, Lorraine, Vera Lang of Corner Brook, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. FIGUARY, Mr. Gerald Robye
December 28, 1932 - July 21, 2010
Gerald Robye Figuary
, 77, of Glace Bay, NS, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Glace Bay Healthcare Complex. Born in Port Aux Basque, NL, he was the son of the late Percy and Mary (Alley) Figary. Robye joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1952, serving overseas on the H.M.C.S Penetang. Following his discharge, Robye was employed with H. Hopkins Limited as a truck driver for over 35 years. He was an avid Cape Breton Screaming Eagles fan, as well as a fan of the Montreal Canadians and the Cape Breton Oilers. He is survived by his wife, the former Judy Hann; children Catherine (Michael) Bendixen, Denmark; Melody Butler, Truro; Wendy Miller, Black Rock; Dale Shewchuck, Dartmouth; Amanda (Ryan) Dean, Glace Bay; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; stepmother Dorothy Figary, Port Aux Basque; sisters Shirley (Paul) Patey, St. John's, NL; Verna (Frank) Andrews, Port Aux Basques, NL. He was predeceased by sister Marilyn Foote; grandchild Garilynn Stewart. There will be no visitation as per Robye's request. A private family memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2pm in Patten's Funeral Home, 71 Union Street, Glace Bay with Rev. Michael Goodfellow officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Robye's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff in the I.C.U. of Glace Bay Healthcare Complex for their compassion and dignified care of Robye during his illness. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eric Hatcher announces his sudden passing on Friday July 23, 2010 at the age of 79 years. Born at Rose Blanche, Eric was the son of the late Norman R and Hattie Belle Hatcher. He was also predeceased by his father and mother in law, Robert and Rita Hatcher, step-father Clarence Hatcher, nephew Robert Hatcher. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his loving family; devoted wife Loretta of 55 years marriage. Daughters; Julia (Doug) Rose, Geraldine (Dorman ) Bateman all of Rose Blanche. Grandchildren, Jamie (Tammy) North Sydney, Erica (Brendon) Rose Blanche, and one great grandson Blake Eric Lomond. Brothers; Fred (Audrey) Hatcher, Gerald (Catherine) Hatcher, Cecil Hatcher all of Rose Blanche, Kevin (Joyce) Hatcher Timberlea NS. Sisters; Norma (Levi) Savoury Port aux Basques, Ruby (Robert) Humpheries Corner Brook. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clayton Lillington announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 64 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Christina (Huelin), Isle aux Morts; daughter Carol (Victor) Lawrence, Lower Sackville, NS; son Shawn (Caulette) Lillington, Lower Sackville, NS; grandchildren: Zachary Lawrence, Kirk Lawrence and Christina Lillington, all of Lower Sackville, NS; father Clayton Lillington Sr. Isle aux Morts; brothers: Russell (Blanche) Lillington, Richard (Vera) Lillington. Herman Lillington, all of Isle aux Morts; sisters: Ruth (Hickman) Organ, Isle aux Morts, Rosalie (George) Best. North Sydney, NS, Susanna (Rodney) Wells, Isle aux Morts, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by mother Ida (nee Harvey) Lillington. Clayton spent many years as an employee of Connor Brothers and Seafarers Union. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spoiling his grand kids. He was the treasurer of the Good Samaritan 50 + Club and enjoyed the many hours he spent with his friends at the Club. He enjoyed attending Holy Spirit Church, where he was a member. Friends visited Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, between the hours of 2 - 4 & 7-9 p.m., from where the funeral service took place on Saturday, July 24 at 11:30 a.m. officiated by Rev. Duncan Granter, Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery in Margaree. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatres' Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Julia MacDonald announces her passing on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center in Port aux Basques at the age of 85 years. Born at Cul de Sac West Julia was the daughter of late Richard and Sarah Parsons. She was also predeceased by her husband George in 1999 and daughter Norma. Brothers Arthur, William, Gordon, Harvey and sister Winnie Durnford. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her family: daughters Kathleen (Emmanuel) Baker Port aux Basques, Bernice (Clifford) LeRiche, Minnie MacDonald, Renee Godin all of Saint John NB. Sons; Walter (Carrie) Prince Edward Island, George (Winnie) Gander NL, Leroy Medicine Hat, Alta. 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, brother Henry (Winnie) Parsons Port aux Basques, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends especially her friends and the staff at Mountain Hope Manor. OSMOND, Donald Jacob Wayne

Donald Jacob Wayne Osmond
June 17th, 1943 - July 16th, 2010

After a courageous battle with cancer, Donald Osmond peacefully passed away in the presence of his loving family on Friday July 16th, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center. Donald was 67 years of age. Donald was predeceased by his parents George and Mildred Osmond, also of Port aux Basques. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his devoted wife Judy, having shared 46 years of marriage. Sons; Todd (Michelle) of St. John's, NL, and Randy (Michelle) of Port aux Basques and only daughter Rhodena (Jason) of Halifax NS. Brothers; Arch (Margaret), Norman (Marion), Roy (Grace), David (Betty), and Ronnie (Joanne) all of Port aux Basques. He will be greatly missed by his four Granddaughters: Danica and Shania (Randy), Olivia (Todd) and Hillary (Rhodena). Also left are his large circle of friends and neighbours who will miss him dearly. Visitation took place on Saturday July 17th from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Mother and Father in law, Joseph and Eva Bond. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his family, devoted wife Hazel of 60 years marriage. Walter was predeceased by his mother and father Olive and Walter Warren. Brothers Philip and George. Sisters Susie Osmond and Vera Osmond. Brother-in-laws Robert Wells and Albert Osmond.
