DUTOT, Charles John
Charles John Dutot, age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday,
July 7, 2007 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre. He was predeceased
by his loving wife, Annie Sarah (Nancy) Dutot, Friday, Nov. 16, 2001;
brother, Bill. He leaves to mourn three sons, Greg Dutot of Mackenzie,
BC, Larry Dutot of Fort McMurray, AB, and Shawn Dutot (Tammy) of Port
aux Basques; three daughters, Beverly Senior (Mac) of Mississauga,
ON, Jeannette Holloway (Virgil) of Fort McMurray, AB and Carmela Cameron
(Larry) of Fort McMurray, AB; three brothers, Max Dutot (Norma) of
Stephenville, David (Jackie) of Heart’s Delight and Dan Dutot
(Marilyn) of Port aux Basques; two sisters, Margariet of Florida, USA
and Gladys Porter (Claude) of Port aux Basques; eight grandchildren,
Kim, Krista, Christopher, Karla, Stacie, Kelly, Bobbie-Joe and Adam;
four great-grandchildren, Cameron and Kody Dutot, Winter and Avyn Poirier.
A special niece Michelle Rumbolt and her husband Maurice Rumbolt of
Deer Lake. As well as a large circle of nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation took place on Sunday, July 8, 2007 at Wesley United Church
at 2 p.m. with Rev. Patricia Ritchie officiating. Interment followed
at Wesley United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s
Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.
PAULS, Marjorie Susannah
August 12, 1923 - July 10, 2007
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marjorie
Susannah Pauls announce her sudden passing on Tuesday,
July 10, 2007 at Dr. Charles
L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques in her 83rd year.
She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children, Kathleen
James of Halifax, NS, Cyril Jr. of Gander, NL, Arthur (Donna) of Corner
Brook, NL, Gloria of Dartmouth, NS, and Sandra of Dartmouth, NS; special
friend, Jack Elms; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister,
Emily Comeau (Gerald) of Church Point, NS; brother, John Mullins (Sadie)
of Rencontre East; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cyril S. Pauls in 1979; three sisters
and five brothers. Visitation took place from East Haven Funeral Home
on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Funeral services took place on Friday,
July 13, 2007, 3 p.m. at St. James’ Anglican Church, Channel, officiated
by Rev. Evelyn Smith. Interment followed at St. James’ Anglican
Cemetery, Barachois Hill. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were
graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

RYAN, Joseph Leo (Junior)
June 23, 1938 - July 10, 2007
Joseph Leo (Junior) Ryan passed peacefully away after a brief illness
on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port
aux Basques, NL, at the age of 69. Predeceased by his father, Leo Ryan
(Sr.) in 1988. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his mother,
Mrs. Emeline Ryan; brothers, John (Jessie) Ryan, Roger (Susan) Ryan,
Gerald (Margaret Rose) Ryan, Pat Ryan and Leonard Ryan; sisters, Cyrilla
Riley, Barbara O’Quinn, Catherine (Gary Bambrick) and Mary (Andy)
Noel; a wide circle of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Rested at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry. Visitation
was held on Wednesday, July 11 and Thursday, July 12, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral mass took place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 13, St. Anne’s
Church, Upper Ferry. Interment at Mt. Thomas Cemetery, Great Codroy.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Isabell

John Matthew and Irene Elizabeth Thorne of Burnt Islands; brothers, Jerry

LeRiche. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband,
Jim of 46 years; son, Gary (Sherry); daughter, Rose (Danny Gallant) of
Halifax; granddaughters, Mandy LeRiche of Halifax and Wanda Lee Pike
of Halifax; grandsons, Guy Pike (Terri-Lynn) of Sydney, NS, Martin Pike
of Port aux Basques and Mitchell Gallant of Halifax; great-granddaughter,

and Percy Thorne (Bernadine) of Burnt Islands; sister, Dorothy (Cecil

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ralph Parsons announce
his passing at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, NS, on Tuesday,
July 17 at the age of 77 years. Born in Rose Blanche, he was the son
of the late Hezzikah and Rosanna Parsons. He leaves to mourn with fond
and loving memories his family: Ada, wife of 55 years; sons, Roy (Winnie),
Alex (Lisa), Jackie (Elizabeth) and Mark (Edwin); daughter, Rosanna (Corey
Herritt); 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters, Violet
and Elizabeth; and brother, George Robert; along with a large circle
of loving relatives and friends. He was predeceased by son, Melvin (1992);
four brothers and three sisters. Visitation took place on Thursday 7-9
p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service took place
on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. from St. Michael’s and All
Angels Anglican Church, Rose Blanche, officiated by Walter Keeping. Interment

PINSENT, Gary Charles
August 13, 1950 - July 19, 2007
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gary Charles
Pinsent announce his passing at his residence in Codroy on July
19, 2007 at the
age of 56 years. Born at Codroy he was the son of the late Leslie and
Ada Pinsent. He was also predeceased by his sister, Doreen Jesso. He
leaves to mourn with fond memories his sister, Joan Walters; his nephews
and nieces, Troy, Clint, Kirk, Sherry, Les and Jamie; and a large circle
of friends. Cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial
service took place at East Haven Funeral Home to honour Gary’s

Passed away peacefully on July 20, 2007 at St. Claire’s
Mercy Hospital in St. John’s, Maitland Lancelot Strangemore of
Port aux Basques in his 85th year. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of
memories are his wife, Myrtle; and daughter, Lois; brother, Everton (Marjorie);
sister-in-law, Marjorie; as well as a large circle of other family and
friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Amelia; and brother,

GILLIS, Alfred L.
July 2, 1918 - July 22, 2007
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alfred Gillis announce
his peaceful passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port Aux
Basques, on Sunday, July 22nd, 2007 at the
age of 89 years. He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 55 years,
Bertha (nee Hammond); sisters-in-law Gertrude Gillis, Codroy and Julia
Belmer, New York; brother- in-law Pat (Celine) Hammond, Long Harbour; many
special nieces and nephews, especially Beverly (nee Hammond) Hicks, Codroy
Valley, along with a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was
predeceased by parents Edwin Joseph and Sarah (nee Blanchard) Gillis; step-mother
Margaret (nee MacArthur) Doyle; brothers: Wallace and Micheal; sisters:
Mary, Anne and Leila. After returning from serving his country in the Forestry
Unit, Alf started working on his many businesses. He began by playing his
accordian for dances in Codroy, along with his brother Mike. From there,
he went on to building Gillis’ Store, a movie theater, Gillis’ Cabins,
Codroy Valley Farm Supplies and The Chignic Lodge. Family and friends are
being received at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry
on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., from where the
funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 26th at 10:30
am, with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment will follow at Mount
St. Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers
will be graciously accepted or donations may be made to St. Anne’s
Guild or Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre. Funeral arrangements are entrusted

Peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 27, 2007,
George Blackmore, age 79, at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre. Born February
5, 1928 in Channel-Port aux Basques. He was predeceased by his parents,
Richard and Amy (nee Parsons) Blackmore; brothers, Gerald, Reginald and
John Blackmore; and his father-in-law, Robert Savory. He leaves to mourn
his wife, Eileen, with whom he shared 53 precious years of loving marriage.
He will also be lovingly remembered by his three sons, Robert (Evelyn)
of Port aux Basques, David (Debbie) of Halifax and Paul (Jean) of Elmsvale;
sisters, Lillian Barens of Washington, Elizabeth (Clayton) Carter of
North Sydney and Marguerite White; brothers, Gordon and Winston (Diane);
step-father, James Parsons; mother-in-law, Susie Savory; sisters-in-law,
Ruth (Stan) Ledrew and Bessie Blackmore, all of Port aux Basques; five
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces,
