ANDERSON, Lorena Mildred
(August 5, 1934 - January 16, 2016)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lorena Anderson (nee LeRiche) announces her passing on Saturday January 16 at the Health Sciences Center in St. John's at the age of 81 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Lorena was the daughter of the late John and Myrtle LeRiche. She was also predeceased by her father and mother in law John and Emmaline Anderson, her husband Charles in 2014, daughter Elaine White in 2015, brothers; John LeRiche, Don LeRiche, Wilson LeRiche, sisters; Dorothy Anderson, Elizabeth Green, sisters in law; Kathleen LeRiche, Isabelle LeRiche, Jessie Buttery. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her children; John Anderson Port aux Basques, Dorothy Anderson (Lindsay) Isle aux Morts, James Anderson (Gladys) Nova Scotia, Debbie Anderson (Mickey) Isle aux Morts, Terry Anderson (Vanda), Charlene Kettle (Dwight) all of Port aux Basques. CARTER, Kevin Albert
(November 3, 1952 - January 1, 2016)

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Kevin Carter announces his sudden passing on Friday January 1, at the age of 63 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Kevin was the son of the late James W. and Rosanna (nee Osmond) Carter. He was also predeceased by his father in law Eric Tapp, sister in law Holly McNeil, brother in law Gerald Tapp. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of precious memories, his wife Vina (nee Tapp) of 33 years. Children; Melvin Leamon (Carolann), Ricky Leamon (Joanne) all of Port aux Basques. Grandchildren; Brandon, Nick, Amber, Holly, special niece Kim (Jamie) Graham Port aux Basques. Sisters and brothers; Carolann (Robert) Blough ON, Melvin (Delores) Carter Port aux Basques, Linda (John) Blakney, Junior (Doris) Carter all of Dartmouth NS, Gary (Laverne) Carter Burnt Islands, Joan Parsons Lunenburgh NS, Judy (Ken) Savoury Port aux Basques, Mike Carter Dartmouth NS. He will also be sadly missed by his mother in law Maude Tapp Port aux Basques, brothers in law; John (Joan) Tapp Port aux Basques, Jim (Colleen) Tapp Dartmouth NS, John McNeil Port aux Basques, sister in law Dulcie Tapp Kitchener ON and a large circle of nieces, nephews, colleagues and many friends. Kevin had a long, rewarding career in retail management. This career took him to Radio Shack in both Halifax and Sydney and in the past few years his career brought him home to Newfoundland where he was the manager of Bargain Giant and most recently the Manager of Rossy's. His passion was golfing, and he enjoyed a great game of golf especially with his brother in law and best buddy Jim Tapp. In keeping with Kevin's wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Monday January 4, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. CHAISSON, Bride Selena
(December 9, 1952 - January 7, 2016)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bride Chaisson (nee O'Quinn) announces her sudden passing at her residence at the age of 63 years. Bride was the daughter of the late George & Genevieve O'Quinn. She was also predeceased by her brothers Cyril O'Quinn and Charles O'Quinn and sisters Rose Marie O'Quinn and Mary O'Quinn. She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her sons Robert Chaisson Kingston ON, and Joseph Chaisson Toronto ON, brothers and sisters Eugene (Anne Marie) O'Quinn Codroy Valley, Elaine Walker Ontario, Catherine (Jim) Dalgleish Ontario, Eileen MacIsaac Codroy Valley and George O'Quinn New Brunswick, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. FRANCIS, Lydia Jane
(September 20, 1921 - January 7, 2016)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lydia Francis (nee Heron) announces her passing on Thursday January 7, at the long term care unit of Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 94 years. Born in Harbour Le Cou Lydia was the daughter of the late Albert and Lovinia Heron, she was also predeceased by her husband Ernest Francis, brother Arthur Heron and sister Rita Galliott. She leaves to mourn with many precious memories her children; Ervin (Judy) Francis, Rita Francis all of Harbour Le Cou, Roma (Kevin) Kelly St. John's NL. She will forever remain in the hearts of her grandchildren; Gerald (Aishwarya) Francis Slave Lake AB, Laura Francis St. John's NL, Jason Kelly Vancouver BC, Jennifer Kelly St., John's NL and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. It is with great sadness that the family of Patrick Gale announce his passing at the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre on January 19, 2016 at the age of 92 years. He was the son of the late Patrick and Jane Gale. He was also predeceased by his wife Pauline, his daughter Linda, son Raymond, infant son John, son-in-law Lloyd and special niece Theresa, also sisters Theresa (William) Heffernan, Kathleen (Richard) Bowers, Sophie (Frank) Smith, brothers Ed Joe (Mabel) Gale, & Simon Gale. He leaves to mourn his loving children; daughters Lena (Jim Ryan), Marilyn MacIsaac, Marita (Glenn Wells), sons Gerry (Judy), Donald (Cathy), Brian (Bonnie), Johnny (Pauline), Allie (Martina), 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, & sister Margaret Crouse Middleton NS and a large circle of nieces and nephews. (February 9, 1938 - January 17, 2016)
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Sunday, January 17, 2016, Harry Hatcher aged 77 years. Predeceased by his wife Marjorie (2005); Brother Roy (1984); Parents Henry and Elizabeth; Stepmother Myrtle. Leaving to mourn son John and daughter-in-law Gail (Gates) and his girls, Julie and Jenna. Sisters Minnie Taylor (Tom - deceased), Joan Coleman (Robin), Ann Parsons (Willie) Mary Gharzouzi (Simon-deceased); Brothers Clifford Hatcher (Racheal), Murdock Matthews (Helen). Also leaving to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews, as well as, many friends and acquaintances. A special thank you to the staff of on the 5th floor of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, and to the staff of the Health Science Centre Oncology ward. Your kindness and compassion towards Dad, will never be forgotten. We are most appreciative of the care and kindness given in the final hours; acknowledging Dr Erin Powell, Aunt Ann, Mom Julie, Sharon and Pam. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Henry Keeping announces his passing after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday January 3, at the age of 56 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Henry was the son of the late John and Hannah Keeping. He was also predeceased by his sister Minnie Osmond, father and mother in law Cyril and Emma Jane Keeping, brother in law Ronnie Keeping, uncle Richard Blackmore, aunts; Cecily Mauger, Martha Osmond, Linda Skeard and Eileen Battiste. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of precious memories his wife Sheila of 36 years, his children; Cyril (Jennifer) and Jody all of Port aux Basques. A proud poppy he will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren Dakota and Kyle. It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Shannon McDermott announces his sudden passing on Wednesday January 6, after a tragic snowmobile accident at the age of 21 years. Shannon was predeceased by his grandfathers; Kiltie McDermott and Edward Bernard. A loving son and brother, Shannon will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his loving family; his parents Betty McDermott and Alvin Bernard, his only brother Brendan (Courtney) McDermott Torbay NL, grandmothers; Josie McDermott and Elsie Bernard both of Diamond Cove. Shannon was a fun loving guy with a great personality and passion for his work, he was an exceptional welder, a job that he enjoyed very much and was very much in to nice cars and sports. His true passion though was volleyball. He played and coached volleyball his entire life which brought him many hours of joy and endless friendships. She was predeceased by her parents the late Walter and Olive Warren, brothers; George, Philip and Walter, sisters; Susie, Vera and Mildred, brother in law Albert Osmond, sister in law Gladys Warren. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband James McIsaac of 40 years, sons; Michael (Vanessa) of Tompkins, Mark (Angie) of Colborne ON, and Shawn (Eneyda) of Halifax NS. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cora Mildred Mullins announces her sudden passing at her daughter's home, on Monday, December 21, 2015 in Mount Uniacke, NS at the age of 83. Born in Port-aux-Basques she was the daughter of the late George and Dorcus (Matthews) LeRiche. Cora was a very special lady who was always a joy to be around and had touched many lives. She was like a mother to more than her own. She will be remembered for her sense of humour, warm personality and kindness. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children, Yvonne (Lewis), Wanda (Kam), Danny (Darlene), Adrian, Valerie (Ted), David (Sarah). Grandchildren Todd, Kimberly (William), Krystal, Ethan, Lucas. Great-grandchildren William Jr. and Gracie, sisters, Dulsie Hoskins and Daisy Hann. As well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Eric Mullins, brother-in-laws, Frank Hoskins, and Doug Hann. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wallace Osmond announces his peaceful passing at his residence in Burnt Islands on January 25, 2016 at the age of 84 years. Wallace was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Jane (nee Bateman) Osmond. He was also predeceased by his sister Geraldine, children Geraldine, Robbie, Richard and Roxanne, grandson Justin, father and mother-in-law Jack & Alice Wells. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Llewellyn Pearce announces his passing on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 with his loving family by his side at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Center at the age of 86. Born in Cape Ray, he was the son of the late Emmanuel and Amelia (Short) Pearce. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children, Arthur (Francis) Lomond, Port-aux-Basques) Roy (Laverna) Lomond, Port-aux-Basques, Judy (Neil) Rogers, Yarmouth, NS and Melvin Pearce (Dee Sexton) Port-aux-Basques, grandchildren, Shawn Lomond, Stephanie and Daniel Pearce, Sarah, Glynis and Leslie Rogers and Darcy Glavine. Brother and sisters, Frank (Doreen) Pearce, Cape Ray, Elsie (Roderick) Parsons, Phyllis Piercey, both of Port-aux-Basques, a large circle of nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends. Lew was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Pearce, sisters, Theresa Currie, Caroline Pike, Frances Coffin, Dorcas Pearce, Catherine Pearce and Bridget Pearce, brothers, Joseph and Nelson Pearce. Visitation taking place Friday, January 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port-aux-Basques. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay, officiated by Rev. Steven Maki, interment to follow at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery. (July 31, 1937 - January 31, 2016)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wilfred Ricketts announces his sudden passing on Sunday January 31, 2016 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 78 years. Wilfred was predeceased by his father John Dicks, grandparents; Alfred & Margaret Ricketts, sister Jean (Les) Osmond, brother Jack Ricketts, sisters Jenny Bateman, Irene Baker, sister in law Patricia Dicks, brother in law John Harvey, mother and father in law; Marie & Israel Anderson. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precuious memories his loving wife Eileen (nee Anderson) of 51 years, only son Glen Ricketts (Disa) Digby County NS and granddaughter Chanel. He will forever remain in the hearts of his mother Lucy Dicks, brothers; Gordon Dicks (Susan), Ray Dicks (Audrey), Claude Dicks (Lori), Rob Dicks (Debbie), Jim Ricketts, sisters; Cora Lawrence (George), Esther Dicks (Garland) all of Port aux Basques, Marjorie Seaward (Stan) Cape Ray, Susan Ingram (Brian) Burgeo NL, Juanita Gearin St. John's NL. He will also be fondly missed by his sisters in law; Jessie Osmond (Bert), Winnie Parsons (Henry) all of Port aux Basques, Bernice Keeping (George) Dartmouth NS, Joyce Hulin (Dorman) Isle aux Morts, Jane Anderson (Steward) Cape Ray, Sandra Harvey (Edward), Linda Harvey (Rob), Viola Bragg (Jerome) all of Port aux Basques and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitiation taking place on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. In keeping with Wildred's wishes, cremation will follow. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Caroline Scott announces her passing on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Center with her loving family by her side at the age of 87. Born in Isle-aux-Morts, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Louise (Edmunds) Scott. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sister, Rosie LaBreche, large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Caroline was predeceased by sisters, Sarah Jane Walters, Judy Billard, Harriett Harvey, Susie Billard, and brother, Winter Scott. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17 at the Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle-aux-Morts. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Holy Spirit Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. MaryRose Colbourne. Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery. SHEAVES, Gladys
(September 18, 1932 - January 27, 2016)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gladys Sheaves (nee Osmond) announce her passing at the Dr. Charles L Legrow Health centre on January 27, 2016 at the age of 83 years. Gladys was the daughter of the late William and Priscella (nee Bond) Osmond. She was also predeceased by her husband Chesley in 1987, 3 infant children, brothers Howard (Martha) Osmond, George (Jane) Osmond, John (Katherine) Osmond, Charles Osmond, & Edward (Caroline) Osmond, sisters Elizabeth (Frederick) Francis, Hilda (Norman) McNeil, Mary (Joseph) Ingram and Elsie Fields. She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her son Perry Sheaves Port aux Basques, daughter Angela Sheaves (Matthew Ralph) Dartmouth NS, sister-in-law Florence Osmond plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends especially her caregiver Cindy Francis who went above and beyond for mom and our family. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jack Sweet announces his sudden passing at his residence in McDougall's on Monday January 11, 2016 at the age of 61 years. Jack was predeceased by his father Kenneth Sweet, step father Clyde Buttery and father in law Harvey Parsons. Leaving to mourn with many precious memories his loving wife Brenda (nee Parsons) of 41 years. A proud father, grandfather and great grandfather Jack will forever remain in the hearts of his children Wendy (Jay) Gillam Port aux Basques, Anthony Sweet (Linda) Lloydminister Sask. Grandchildren; Jacqueline (Richard), Matthew, Austin, Emma, Alaina, Ty, and great grandson Alexander. Jack will also be sadly missed by his mother Winifred Buttery Port aux Basques.
