TAYLOR, PHILIP ISAAC
DEC. 14, 1937 - JAN. 1, 2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Philip Isaac Taylor announces his passing on Friday, Jan. 1, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 72 years. Born at La Poile, Philip was the son of the late Thomas and Harriet Taylor. He was also predeceased by his brother Henry Neil; brothers-in-law Max Purchase, Jack Purchase and Willis Francis; sister-in-law Mardee Osmond, Father and Mother-in-law William and Agnes Purchase. He leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories his family: wife Jessie of 46 years marriage; sons Bill (Margaret) La Poile, Austin (Kim) Port aux Basques, Brad (Shawnda) Halifax, N.S.; his only granddaughter Hillary; grandsons Frank (Vanessa), Jeremy, Austin (Michelle), Tyrone, Jared and Mason; sisters Alice (Clayton) Bird of Rose Blanche, Julie Francis La Poile, Olive (Blandford) Francis Burnt Islands, Debbie (Roland) Organ La Poile; brothers-in-law Fred (Zeta) Purchase Glenwood, Nfld., Russ (Margaret) Purchase Port Rexton, Nfld., Norm (Donna) Purchase St. Brendan's, Nfld., Don (Christine) Purchase Port aux Basques, Rodney (Shelly) Purchase British Columbia, Garnet Osmond Port aux Basques; sisters-in-law Dulcie (Albert) Taylor, Marilyn Purchase all of La Poile, Grace Purchase, Evelyn Neil both of Port aux Basques, Aunt Josie McDermott Rose Blanche and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many life long friends. Visitation took place on Jan. 2, 7-9 p.m., and Jan. 3 and 4 from 224 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. Interment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. MACINNIS, ADA ELIZABETH
JANUARY 16th, 1945· JANUARY 1st, 2010

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ada Elizabeth Macinnis announces her passing on Friday, Jan. 1, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center at the age of 64 years. Ada was predeceased by her father William John Parsons and by her brother-in-law Philip Edstrom. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her family: husband Ronald of 43 years marriage; children Catherine (Jan) Peddle Upper Ferry, Jim (Wilma) Macinnis Paradise, Nfld.; grandchildren Patrick, Danielle, Rosemary, David and Adam; her mother Ruth Parsons Codroy; sisters Doretta (Albert) Samms Codroy, Leona Edstrom Paradise, Ntld., Jacqueline Cumby Paradise, Nfld., Catherine (Larry) Pittman Conception Bay South, Nfld., Suzanne (Calvin) Kettle Port aux Basques; brother Wilfred (Bernice) Parson Goulds, Nfld,; brother-in-law Sandy Maclnnls Stephenville, Nfld., and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sadie Catherine Walters announces her passing on Thursday, Jan. 7, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 85 years. Sadie was predeceased by her husband Abraham; daughter Florence; mother Francis Hatcher; grandson Calvin McNeil; great-grandson Travis McNeil; son-in-law Edgar McNeil; sister Mary Joice; brother Frank Hatcher; brothers-in-law Fred, Ernest and Bob. Visitation took place on Jan. 7 from 7-9 p.m. and on Jan. 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home, from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Clayton Billard. THORNHILL, WILLIAM RICHARD BRETT

1953·2010

Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Care Centre in Port aux Basques, William Richard Brett Thornhill, aged 56, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn, with fond and loving memories, his wife Debbie, step-daughter Angela (Randy Seaward), grandson Evan William James ("Little Willie"), parents Lloyd and Patricia at St. Luke's Home in St. John's, brothers Jim (Linda) Gander, George Enderby, B.C., sisters Karen (Robert Tulk) Mount Pearl, Betty Labrador City; in-laws Ray and Vera Ludlow Grand Falls-Windsor; sisters-in-Iaws Donna (Roy Folkes) Grand Falls-Windsor, Diane (Craig Young) Grand Falls-Windsor, Darlene (Ervin McCurdy) Corner Brook; 13 nieces and nephews; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Jane. Visitation from St. Ann's Catholic Church, Upper Ferry on Jan 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held on Jan.15 at 3:30 p.m. from St. Ann's. Memorial service was held on Jan 17 at 2 p.m. from Fraser Road United Church in Gander with interment at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Keltie James Strickland announces his passing on Thursday, Jan. 14, at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center at the age of 54 years. Born at Rose Blanche, Keltie was the son of the late Thomas and Theresa Strickland. He was also predeceased by his sister Maria Theresa. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memones his family: children Keltie (Myra) Strickland Windsor, Ont., Thomas (Nicole) Strickland Windsor, Ont., Heather Fudge (Kyle Phillips) Red Deer Alta., step-son John (Alicia) Fudge Grand Falls, Nfld; grandchildren Stefan, Cory, Natasha, Jordan, Joshua, Ethan, Mya and Brittany; brothers Russell (Cassie) Isle aux Morts, Don (Julie) Port aux Basques, Scott San .Diego California; aunts Blanche Rose Port aux Basques, Melita Hardy Corner Brook, Jane Heron Rose Blanche; uncles Ralph (Lucy) Strickland Cambridge, Ont., Gerald (Margaret) Clarke Port Alberni, B.C.; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Amos Collier announces his passing on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Western Memorial Hospital at the age of 65 years. Born at Codroy, Amos was the son of the late George and Rose Collier. Amos was also predeceased by his brother Fred; mother-, and father-in-law Abner (Mary) Mullins; brother-in-law Alvin Kettle. BOND, WILLIAM JAMES

Bond, William James "Will",
aged 89, passed away Jan. 23, 2010 at Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax, N.S. He was born at Stone's Cove, N.L., Sept. 25, 1920, the eldest son of the late Thomas and Emma (Pope) Bond. He served in the Royal Artillery, 59th Regiment "D" Battery from 1941 to 1944 during World War II. Shortly after returning from overseas he joined CN Marine in Channel-Port aux Basques, N.L. and worked there until his retirement in 1985. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Audrey (Pope) Bond; daughter Linda Shorf; son Kevin Bond; infant sisters Eva Bond, Hazel Bond and Rebecca Bond; brother Albert Bond; grandsons Craig and Stephen Short; brothers-in-law, Stanley Handrigan, William Robarts, Roland Mullins; and sister-in-law Mary Mullins. He is survived by son Eric (Jean) Pope, St. John's, N.L; daughter Barbara (Gordon White), Mount Pearl, N.L.; sisters Janet Handrigan, Grand Bank, N.L., Elinor Robarts, Windsor, N.S.; brother Thomas (Carol) Bond, Halifax, N.S., sister-in-law, Clarissa (George) Hiscock, Conception Bay South, N.L.; son-in-law George (Alice) Short, daughter-in-law Grace Bond, grandsons: Colin Short (Glenda), Dwayne Bond (Michelle), all of Channel-Port aux Basques, grandson Michael Pope, Edmonton, Alta.; granddaughters Lori Spurrell (Clyde Butt), Springdale, N.L. and Lisa Pope, St. John's, N.L; and great-grandchildren Sarah, Daniel, Matthew, Carter, Chandler, Jessica and Erin. He leaves to mourn a wide circle of relatives and friends. Will resided at the Dr. John I. O'Connell Centre, Corner Brook, N.L and Camp Hill Veteran's Memorial, QEII, Halifax, N.S. Sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at both of these 'veteran' residential facilities for the level of care provided. Funeral services were held at St. James' Anglican Church, Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. Internment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, Trans-Canada Highway. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society, St. James' Cemetery Fund or a charity of one's choice. HARDWICK, James Lewis
On the 25th of January, in his 81st year a special heart stopped beating with the passing of James Lewis Hardwick. Beloved husband of Eileen and father to Julia (Mark), Paul (Jackie), Peter (Leslie) and Kirn (Bruce). Special grandfather to Victoria, Vanessa, Jessie, Josh, Jessica, Matthew, Alex and Emily. Special thanks to all the staff of Roseway Manor for their love and care over the past three years. As per Lew's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home and there will be no service. Memorial donations may be made to the Roseway Manor Van Fund, Roseway Manor Inc., 1604 Lake Road, P. O. Box 518, Shelburne, N.S., BOT 1WO.
