Port aux Basques

Passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2007, Albert George Savoury at the age of 78. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his sons, Fred (Donna), Labrador City, Gord (Sylvia), Port aux Basques, Ken (Judy), Port aux Basques, daughters, Pauline (Dennis Seymour) Savoury, Halifax, Linda (Norman) Chaulk, Port aux Basques, Jessie Pike, Port aux Basques, Wanda (Ken) Loveless, Seal Cove, Jocelyn (Paul) Strickland, Sackville, sister, Ada MaCann, Toronto, brother, Ulrick (Bubbles), sister-in-law, Joan, brother-in-law, Fred Strickland, Nova Scotia, 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of family and friends. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Marion (nee Strickland), son, Wayne, parents, George and Julia Savoury, brothers, Thomas, George, and Lewis, sisters, Clarice Nash, Lillian Beaucanne, Jane and Evelyn, and son-in-law, Austin Pike. Friends visited Fillatre's Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Port aux Basques, Saturday, 7-9 p.m., and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service took place from St. James Anglican Church on Monday, January 8, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Fudge officiated. Interment followed at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, the family graciously accepted flowers or donations to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca

1949 - 2007

Passed away at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook on Sunday, January 07, 2007 Llewellyn (Lou) Osmond of Port aux Basques at the age of 57 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Clayton and Jessie Osmond. He leaves to mourn his common-law-wife, Shirley Riles; sister, Rose (George) Leamon of Sackville, NS; and brother, John P. (Lillian) Harvey of Burnt Islands; and a large circle of in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service was held at the Salvation Army Citadel on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. Officiated by Captains Kent and Dena Hepditch. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

March 17, 1953 - January 9, 2007

Passed away at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Center on Tuesday, January 9th, 2007. She leaves to mourn her husband Roger; sons: Sidney and Lendy; grandchildren: Brandon, Zackery, Dalton, Andrew and Natasha; mother Betty Battiste; brothers: Edgar (Beverly), Dennis (Valerie), Tony (Donna); eight sisters: Joanne (Ronnie), Cavelle (Wilson), Jeanette, Dorothy (Ivan), Esther (John), Elizabeth Lee (Joe), Natasha (Richard), Betty-lynn (Trevor); sister-in-law Minnie Osmond; as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by father Lendy Battiste. Visitation took place at Fillatre's Funeral Home on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service took place from St. James Anglican Church on Friday, January 12th at 2:00 pm., officiated by Rev. 1935 - 2007

Passed away at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 Mary (Ella) Eleanora McNeil at the age of 71 years. Born at South Branch she was the daughter of the late Beatrice and Dennis Muise. Ella leaves to mourn her husband, Charles; and children, Karen (Freeman) Gale of Upper Stewiacke, NS, Dean McNeil of South Branch, Charlene (Bobby) Outhouse of Souris, PEI, Cheryl (Sam) Young of Calgary, AB, Nancy (Gerry) Seaward of Upper Tantallon, NS and Kimberly (Blake) Hatcher of Barrie, ON; grandchildren, Crystal, Felicia, Christopher, Samantha, Jake, Cassandra, Matthew, Dean and Hayley; great-grandson, Isaiah; brothers and sisters, Andrew (Ida) Muise, Norman (Zeta) Muise, Kenneth (Lillian) Muise, Jerome (Betty) Muise, Patricia (Marshall) Devoe, Edward (Pamela) Muise, Marcel (Julianne) Muise, David (Debbie) Muise, Dennis Jr. (Rita) Muise, Margaret Rose (Joe) McEvoy, Augusta (Richard) Aucoin, Marion Spence, Wayne (Terri) Muise, Wade (Linda) Muise and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Dennis and Beatrice Muise; daughter, Cynthia; son, Charles; brother, James Muise. Visitation took place on Wednesday night and Thursday at St. Sylvester RC Church South Branch. Funeral mass took place on Friday, January 12, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Sylvester Church officiated by Father Lee Lainey. Interment followed at St. Sylvester Cemetery, South Branch. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

HERRITT, Coady Dominic James
December 8, 2001 - January 11, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of Coady Dominic James Herritt announce his sudden passing on January 11th, 2007. Coady was born to Dominic and Arlene (nee Keeping) Herritt of Rose Blanche on December 8th, 2001. He was predeceased by his great-grandparents William & Florence Herritt, Dominic & Annie Coady, Ada & Chesley Spencer, Garfield & Minnie Keeping; great uncle Thomas Coady; great aunts Maureen Coady and Katherine House; cousins Dennis and David House. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his mom and dad, Arlene and Dominic Herritt; sister Brittney Herritt, grandparents Willard & Theresa Herritt and Arthur & Peggy Keeping; aunt Charmaine (Corey) Upwards, uncle Dwayne Herritt and cousins Chase and Caden Upwards, as well as a large number of great aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation took place at the family home of Arthur & Peggy Keeping. Funeral Services were held at St. Michael's and All Angels Church in Rose Blanche on January 15th at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Kenneth Abbott. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port Aux Basques.

NEIL, Wilson
1942 - 2007

Passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 19, 2007, Wilson Neil of Rose Blanche at the age of 64. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his spouse, Harriett; two brothers, John (Ruby), Port aux Basques and Samuel (Dianne), Niagara Falls, ON; two sisters, Elizabeth (Wesley) Collier of Rose Blanche, Louise (late Albert) Bungay, Port aux Basques; and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by parents, William and Mary Neil; and his brother-in-law, Albert Bungay.  Visitation took place on Friday 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. Michael's Anglican Church in Rose Blanche, from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 22, Reverend Kenneth Abbott officiated. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery in Margaree. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, tel: 695-5900.

1952 - 2007

It is with great sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of Alvin Clifford Kettle of Port aux Basques on Sunday, January 21st, 2007 at the age of 54 years. Alvin was predeceased by his parents Annie and Russell Kettle and father-in-law Abner Mullins. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family: wife, Annette (nee Mullins) of 25 years marriage; daughter, Tina of Port aux Basques; son, Brian (Geneva) of Corner Brook; and grandson, Nicholas; brother and sisters, Cyril (Marilyn) Port aux Basques, John (Linda) Red Deer, Alberta, Wayne (Diane) Calgary, Alberta, Garry (Roslyn) Cape Ray, Derek (Madonna) Codroy Valley, Terry (Linda) Port aux Basques, Nancy (Jack) Hexspoor Calgary, Alberta, Sylvia (Lionel) Pearce Port aux Basques, Suzanne (Bill) White, Grand Prairie, Alberta and Arlene (Tony) Osmond Port aux Basques; mother-in-law, Sarah Mullins Rencontre East; brother-in-law, William (Fern) Mullins Dartmouth, NS; sisters-in-law, Mona (Amos) Collier Codroy Valley, Elsie (Arch) Parsons Kingston, Ontario, Mary (Clarence) Dowding Port aux Basques and a large circle of step-brothers and step-sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation took place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. A memorial service took place on Thursday, January 25, 2007, 2 p.m. at At. James' Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Canon Hugh Fudge. Cremation followed, with the interment to be announced at a later date. Passed away peacefully at the LeGrow Health Centre on Tuesday, January 23rd, Charlotte (Lottie) Durnford at the age of 86 years. She was the daughter of the late Martha Ann and George Lewellyn Ball. She was also predeceased by mother-in-law and father-in-law, Olive and John Matt Durnford; sister, Edith Spencer and brother, Gordon Ball; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Carrie) Ball; Ida Hillier and Ada Pike; brothers-in-law, Philip De Gruchy; Fred Durnford; Clarence Hillier and James Spencer. She leaves to mourn with loving and precious memories her husband, Eric; son, Merrill, and daughter-in-law, Ida; Port aux Basques; granddaughter, Linda (Darryl) Rose; and great-grandson, Joshua, Waterloo, ON; sister, Vera (Dominic) LeFrense, Isle aux Morts; brothers, Matthew Ball, Fort Saint John, BC, and John (Naomi) Ball, St. Anthony; sisters-in-law, Eva Bagnell, Halifax, NS, and Julia DeGruchy, St. John's, NL, and a loving circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alfred Chesley Matthews announce his passing at home on Tuesday, January 25, 2007 at the age of 58 years. He was predeceased by his daughter, Michelle in 1968; father, Wilson Chesley in 1970; step-father, Kenneth Green and brother-in-law, Phillip Parsons in 2001. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories, his wife, Audrey of 39 years marriage; son, Wilson (Yvonne); son, Darryl; mother, Elizabeth (Matthews) Green; brother, Charles (Dallas); sister, Margaret (Earl) Wall, all of Port aux Basques; brothers-in-law, Matt (Betty) Parsons, Ron (Shirley) Parsons of Burgeo, Don (Susan) Parsons of Corner Brook; sisters-in-law, Sharon McCarthy of Corner Brook, Margie (Tony) Anderson of Port aux Basques and a large number of aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and many dear friends. Passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 25th, 2007 at the age of 65. He leaves to mourn his wife Mary, Port Aux Basques; son Calman (Theresa); two grandchildren: Jeremy and Dillon; two brothers: Danny (Diane), Port Aux Basques and Wilford (Laura) of Thompson, MB; four sisters: Grace Hinks (Jim), Dolly Seymour (Nate), Betty Osmond and Melida Kettle (Jim); sister-in-law Ruby Feltham; brothers-in-law: Robert Norton, Sudbury, ON and James Baggs (Anne), Red Deer, AB; sisters-in-law: Ruby Munden (Gilbert), Joan Baggs and Ernestine Baggs; twenty-nine nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of friends. John was predeceased by his father Norman and mother Mae (Nee Musseau); brother Calvin; sister Lizzie; father and mother-in-law James and Edith Baggs; brothers-in-law: Calman Baggs and Willard Baggs. Visitation took place at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques on Friday evening, Saturday 2-4 & 7-9 and on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service was held at St. James Anglican Church on Monday, January 29th at 2:00 pm with interment following at Barachois Hill Cemetery.
